the Tiktok is long gone lmao, but no matter, I will answer based on the ask below! short one this time folks, i’ve been feeling unusually pooped these few days, hopefully i’ll be back up to speed next week

I would say having unique, one-of-a-kind photos wouldn’t be such a head-turner in itself given each of the boys, both Toman and Black Dragon, would have their little stash of photos that they’ve taken individually with you as well as those that they got from stalking you in their down time.

But there would be that one photo that Koko can’t seem to put down, staring at it for minutes on end to the point that Inupi takes notice and he nearly gets caught by Taiju during a Black Dragon meeting. This black-haired boy would be quick to tuck the picture away into a inner coat pocket though, and even scurry away should he fail to try and hide the photo in time, though eventually Inupi does catch a glimpse of what he was trying so hard to hide. Turns out, it was one that had even Inupi doing a double take, snatching the priceless piece of paper out from Koko's hands to have a second and third look. And it was enough to drop the jaw of the usually stoic delinquent and earn a light blush that dusted his cheeks.

A picture of you laughing at someone off camera while half submerged in what looked like an onsen. And very obviously not having anything covering your chest, which was mere centimetres away from being exposed above the water surface. Koko would make quick work of relieving a malfunctioning Inupi of his picture, his own face beet red, and the black-haired boy would run off before the other had a chance to ask him so many questions. Like where on earth did he get that photo, who took it (he had someone he needed to break the arms and legs off from) , and why was he oogling you in public when he knew it was so close to being a very indecent picture - what would you think of them if you caught Koko in such a compromising position? What would you think if you knew someone had peeped on you?

They'll be dumped so quickly it wouldn't even be funny. Best to keep this on the down low, and Inupi warns Koko to keep the picture safe, and for the love of all things holy stop looking at it in public. Of course Koko doesn't listen, and of course he tried to charge Inupi an exorbitant amount of money since the other looked at it. Inupi didn't pay up.

Anyway, no doubt that rumors quickly spread about the photo among the deliquent gangs: that Koko had this one picture of you he couldn't stop looking at, and no one quite knew the contents but they "heard from a friend of a friend" that it was quite lewd. Eventually reaching the ears of the Toman boys, it instantly peaked both their intrigue, protectiveness and fury all at once in an instance. A lewd picture of you owned by someone else? Who took it? How did they take it? Were you being peeped on? How lewd was it? Mikey and Kazutora got a good trashing by the others. Though all six boys at least agreed on three points: that this had to be kept a secret from you at all costs at risk of you finding out and freaking out, they needed to confront declare war on the Black Dragons and take that picture, and they needed to keep it safe for themselves destroy it immediately to protect you dignity.

Okay your friends still had time to come to a decision on the last one after they have wrestled it away from those scum buckets - even if it was very inappropriate and your Toman friends would never dare think of you in such a manner, it was still a one-of-a-kind picture of you none of them owned, and they would very much like to add it to their collection. Something so intimate would be best owned by people who would never take advantage of you after all.

Some thoughts on TokRev and Ken Wakui (before reading the ending)

I want to clarify that this is my point of view and that if you have a different one, that's fine (even if you don't agree)! So let's move on.

Let's see, although everyone has a fairly well-argued point about why they don't like the ending, I think that the fact of saying: "these are not my characters" is as true as it is uncertain. I mean, there are things that WILL happen anyway and shape our characters as we know them...

...except for a few incidents that did traumatize them for life (like this: Draken never got over Emma's death and in all futures he lived extremely DEPRESSED; that is, he lived just to live. In fact, I've always had a theory that just like Ash Lynx, in Banana Fish, Draken allowed himself to die protecting Takemichi knowing what would happen to him, and at least now they both have a chance).

For example:

Kazutora will continue to have to survive the mistreatment of her father and the bullying and blackmail of her classmates until he runs into Baji, which is most likely, or another character, and he will have to start to evolve as a person from there (as we saw in several of the extras).

Emma and Draken will continue to be abandoned by their mothers. In fact, when Takemichi arrives in the past, Emma is already with the Sano and, finally, has had to "overcome" that abandonment (I put it in quotes because it doesn't seem like the right word, but now I can't think of another).

In addition, Draken will continue to live in "the massage room" and will see how the girls are prostituted and discarded. That is, he will have to learn to live in that environment and the "little" slavery he suffered from older gang members before becoming Mikey's friend.

Mitsuya and Shiba will meet in the same way and will live exactly the same. However, I want to take a little break here, because NO, I don't think Shiba family life is as good as some people think. In fact, in the color panel of the wedding you can see that Taiju is still quite far from his two little brothers. We will have to read the chapter to draw a little more conclusions, but I think that Taiju will never be able to completely redeem himself from what he did as we saw in the manga.

Izana will continue to be abandoned by all the adults around him, which will mold him as a person until Shinichiro finds him. I think this is the most difficult character to read because of the kind of life he has led, but we will have to wait for the little explanation.

Kakucho will also lose his parents in a car accident (see the scar) and the Sano will lose their father in another, and their mother due to an "illness" (which could be a hidden depression in the play, from my point of view).

And etc etc etc.

I mean, of course, Takemichi and Mikey STILL THE SAME (they are the same characters from the beginning, I mean) and it seems that thanks to that knowledge of the facts they have been able to help the vast majority of the characters (if not all, hahahaha), but they will not be able to control all the incidents in the lives of the characters. Probably, they will have spent many battles with Taiju and Izana, before achieving their objective, which, after all, WAS THE OBJECTIVE OF THEM BOTH. Especially Takemichi, our protagonist.

Actually, this ending can be as counterproductive (because of the rush, more than anything, I have already said it on another occasion), as it is appropriate for what Tokyo Revengers is, since it closes the two conflicts that arose from the beginning: "the loneliness" and "save them all" (and the penultimate chapter finally makes sense of the title and makes the best revenge of all: THE REVENGE OF TRYING TO BE HAPPY!). However, he has done it at the cost of MANY UNSOLVED THINGS (and leaving Shinichiro like the unsalted bread he has been from the beginning, haha). However, this seems to me the least serious of all. Let me explain: AN AUTHOR DOES NOT OWE YOU AN EXPLANATION OF EVERYTHING THAT HAPPENS. Especially IF EVEN THE MAIN CHARACTERS DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW TIME TRAVEL WORKS OR THEY DOESN'T REALIZE THE THINGS THAT, MAYBE, THE SPECTATOR DOES REALIZE.

Also, Takemichi is our main narrator most of the time, and I already said that he's not a smart enough person to notice this "nonsense", or give it due importance, which makes it much easier for the author leave those "loose ends" without endangering the coherence of the work, or the main character.

It is true that doing something like this is a risk and that ignorance works much better in horror works. I also would have liked it to fix some specific points (like, who was spying on Takemichi in the Bonten arc?), but if not, I DON'T DIE EITHER, TRUTH. Because, if you think about it, what the author has done with this part of the story is to make sure that people like me CHECK THE MANGA INFINITELY, hahaha. It's a great tactic, no doubt.

Or those are my conclusions, before reading the ending, of course.

PS: I see a lot of people saying that that wasn't the ending that Wakui wanted to do or that TokRev should have been a seinen... I honestly have no idea how the manga industry works in Japan. I only know that the publisher itself asked Wakui for a story and he created Tokyo Revengers from there. The first shônen of him. There is nothing wrong with TokRev being shônen, in fact, it is thanks to this work and the genre that Wakui has become known worldwide and if you want to read something about gang members and seinen, you can read Shinjuku Swan, one of his earlier works. I don't see a problem with that, really.

What I would worry about is that Wakui hadn't made the ending he wanted. I guess we'll see that over time. But if he really has made the ending he wanted (and had in mind since Bloody Halloween, as he said in an interview), THEN THERE IS NOTHING WE CAN SAY TO HIM IN THAT SENSE (Not that you can't criticize the ending, but insult him, try to convince him day and night to change the ending, send him pictures of them burning his manga for the ending, and generally harass him for the ending he finished picking out. I'm not surprised by this attitude, unfortunately, but it's still CRAZY and a huge lack of respect for the artist). Because, as John Katzenbach said in an interview:

"Do what you want to do. The story you tell should be YOUR STORY. Because a lot of people will come to you and say: You know, if you turn this 16-year-old boy into a 20-year-old girl, the story will be much better. ... No. Tell the story you want to tell and have faith in that. It may or may not work... But you'll be happy in the long run, if you stay true to your own vision."

Past

Matsuno Chifuyu spent his time in middle school incredibly depressed after his father passed away. Nothing mattered and no one else in the world deserved his respect. He spent his days going through the motions at school, causing problems for teachers, and challenging other students who claimed to be awesome or strong. Chifuyu found himself getting into many fights. That was, until he met Baji Keisuke. Chifuyu met Keisuke as another person Chifuyu intended to challenge. However, he learned quickly Keisuke is someone he actually kind of liked. At first, he thought of Keisuke as a silly nerd despite his terrible case of illiteracy. That all changed when Keisuke rescued Chifuyu from a fight and revealed that he was the First Divison Captain of the Tokyo Manji gang.

Toman

The Tokyo Manji gang, also known as Toman, was a small biker gang featuring several middle schoolers who didn't have much better uses of their time. The group was founded on the premise of friends who would be willing to fight and die for each other. Initially, Chifuyu didn't care much for the gang and didn't hold the members in much esteem. The only reason he joined Toman was to get closer to Keisuke, his newly found idol, and become a better fighter. Chifuyu swore he would become Keisuke's Vice Captain to always be there to protect him.

Chifuyu is many things and determined is certainly one of them. Within a year, Chifuyu quickly rose to Keisuke's side and became his vice captain. They shared many memories. Some happy, some hurtful. All cherished. However, memories would soon be all they had after Keisuke's death on the battle referred to as, "Bloody Halloween." Chifuyu would be devastated and tasked with deciding the next First Division Captain. He chose Hanagaki Takemichi for Takemichi's moral code and support when helping Keisuke.

Toman's Future

Chifuyu and Takemichi became thick as thieves, and eventually Takemichi would share his secret with Chifuyu: Takemichi is a time traveller who has made it his mission to save the lives of those who die in the timeline from where he comes. Chifuyu agrees to help him and support him in their future endeavors.

Chifuyu's Future

Once Toman disbands, the members of the Toman gang are left to find their own separate paths. Chifuyu's mission in life is to carry on Keisuke's dreams. While Chifuyu's childhood dream was to become a pilot, he decides to work in a petshop part-time as he loves cats and Keisuke wanted to become a vet.

Bad Toman Timeline

In the Bad Toman timeline, Chifuyu remains a member of the Toman gang. He is one of Toman's executives and harbors a deeply-rooted grudge against Kisaki (the man who staged Keisuke's death). Chifuyu and Hanemiya Kazutora grow closer and work together to take down Kisaki, but it costs them greatly. It costs them Chifuyu's life.

Bonten Timeline

During the Bonten timeline, Chifuyu works as a petshop owner where he has hired Hanemiya Kazutora. Chifuyu seeks to provide Kazutora a purpose as a way to amend their relationship and turn a new leaf for both of them. While it's a rocky path, Chifuyu wants to be the stable beam of support Kazutora needs in his life to recover from prison.

I can’t see him dating anyone before the time skip, even if we got proof that he was interested into people (we all see the way he was looking when he was at the beach). But during this time, he was a teenager more over he already a family, people who he cared about. He just didn’t feel the need to add a significant other, he has his family, he had Toman.

Now I’m not saying that he wouldn’t date anyone when he was a teenager but he was so focused on Toman on his family than I can’t believe he got time to date someone, especially since he was busy kicking ass with his friends Baji.

But no matter if you met him during his teenage, after he left the juvenile prison or when he left prison. You’re going to need some patience with him. He has lived a lot of things. He is still a broken man who is this close of loosing his entire mind.

I believe that I first you would be the only one working on this relationship, I mean you would do the whole flirty thing and at first he’ll barley interact with you. It doesn’t mean that he doesn’t feel proud for your compliment and that he isn’t happy that you are interested in him. It just that everytime he felt close to someone, they either die or just left him.

I feel like he loves kissing you too ? Like he just can’t stop kissing you ? He is an addict kisser. Like one day you were visiting him at the petshop dropping him a bento because you wanted to spoil your boyfriend. Even though he claimed to Chifuyu that he wasn’t tired 5min before you were here, suddenly he felt like he needs his 10min break. Guess who finds themselves being pushed against the wall as their boyfriends was kissing them deeply ? You. And he just didn’t kiss you once, no no that would be too simple, he will kiss you again and again one hand holding yours against the wall the other would be either on your cheek or on your neck. Good luck to find your breath after that. Believe me when I say that even when you were about to leave him so you could go back to school or whenever you were expected, Kazutora will take your hands in his to bring you against his chest to steal you a couple of kisses before finally leaving you.

I can see him as the type to sometimes grab both of your cheeks with his hand and then kiss you, again and again.

He jus loves being close to you, so when you two are out for a date or just because you got the chance to meet him while you were going home. Kazu won’t hesitate and hold your hand stroking it with his fingers.

Holding hand is a minimum for him to best honestly

If he could he’d rather spend all of his time in your arms humming your smell getting warmth against you. But he can’t, so he is going to appreciate every occasion he got to get you close to him.

Since you’re his significant other Kazutora will be extra protector when it came to you, not afraid of threatening anyone that might be a bother to you.

Also he is jealous, he knows he shouldn’t feel like this especially since you’re always giving so much love and attention. But he can’t help but feel insecure, he knows what he is capable of, he knows his past, he knows what he has done, he is not perfect and certainly does not deserve love coming from such a piece of heaven like you. Yeah there would be time when Kazutora might be sad, feel down, and even though he’ll work on it so you won’t see it (afraid that you might be disappointed and will leave him) but you can tell that he is not feeling well.

Please, hold him tightly, tell him you love him, reminds him of much you cared about him, show him that there is no reason for him to be afraid. He just needs reassurance that you are here for good and that one day he wouldn’t wake up without you by side.

I just feel like he loves sleeping next to you, just the thought of sharing the same bed as him and getting the chance of waking up with you next to him is just his definition of heaven.

I also feel like is a tease, not on Mikey’s level, but I feel like sometimes out of nowhere Kazu will tickle you or whispering you something just to get to see your face turning red and then chuckle.

He is also the type to always give you his sweatshirt/coat, you don’t even need to be cold, if he noticed that you had been looking at his cloth or if you just compliment it boom its around your shoulder. It can be a way to show his possessiveness, like everyone would know that you belong to him who knows ? At least you won’t be cold.

He also the type to lay down on your bed and look at you with a loving smile, whether you were sleeping or not he doesn’t stop him from slightly stroking your cheeks bone, your cheek or even your lips loving the feeling of his hand/finger on your skin. It’s so smooth and soft he just can’t help.

Sometimes especially when he is sleepy, he will whisper things into your ear, kiss your all over your face.

A sucker for worshiping (do it for himself too)

Also he is not afraid to tell you he loves you, he might be not the first one to confess but once he knows that you love him. « I love you y/n » would be the first thing you will hear while waking up also the last thing before sleeping.

I think he might like the thought of you styling his hair even if all you’ve done was putting some cute clips on his hair he likes it and will even let you take picture. He is a sucker for your smile

Buy him jewelry and he will never take them off especially ring or necklace he just loves seeing you marking your territory.

As I stated before he is probably the type to overthinking a lot, like one day if you didn’t give the smile you used to give him, he is 100% you’ll dump him at the end of the day. Sometimes it’s not as bad as that, like you called him by his last name to tease him, he’ll just pout at you and then give you kiss all over your and won’t stop until you called him either by his name or by a nickname. But yes sometimes if you’re acting a little bit too cold to him he’ll think that your relationship is over, and will start to panic no knowing what to do to keep you by his side.

That’s the think with Kazutora he loves you more than he loves himself so he knows as a fact that he will be lost without you (not the only one to be honest but that’s for another headcanon)

So obviously you’ll need to be careful but since you’re still a human keep in mind to check him after if you’ve done something that let him think you guys were over.

Also, I can picture him to sometimes disappear. Like no one know where he is, not even you. He never left for too long (worst case : he leaves for a day), but sometimes he feels like he needs to be alone, like really alone. So he isolated himself for everyone, no one will know where he left, what he has done. But when he came back he always got that peaceful smile, the one where is eyes got nothing but regrets in them.

You feel like he spent his time in front of Baji ans Shinichiro’s grave, cause even years after this incident he couldn’t forgive himself for what he’s done to them. He can’t forgive him. Since he is lucky to be alive, sometimes he needs to see them in order to give him some strength in order to stay alive.

All the time when he is zoning out, you know he is thinking about all the bad things he has done to the people he cares the most, and even though he is working hard to be a better person what was done can’t be undone. Again hold his hand, stroke his hair do whatever you can to help him staying safe and not falling into his old demons.

Reasons why we love Baji Keisuke in this household 😌

In no particular order,

(1) Baji has a black belt in martial arts. To get a black belt, you have to consistently attend trainings and take tests to be promoted. Also, he has been going to the Sano dojo since he was a kid. That takes a large amount of self-discipline and motivation. (Reference: That flashback chapter and his room as per the character profile)

(2) Baji values hard work. Remember his first meeting with Kazutora when his game progress was lost since his video game was accidentally unplugged? The other kid just wanted to brush it off and give him money (courtesy of Kazutora) but his focal concern was what would happen to his hard work. When he was held back a year, he was trying to study diligently with all those thick books and what not. If you think about it, Baji could afford to bully other kids to do his homework for him and pass but he didn’t. Lastly, remember when he first met Mikey? He asked Mikey to spar with him so he could get better at martial arts. When Mikey refused because he does not want to be sweaty and only goes to the dojo to be admired, Baji’s reaction was “What’s with this kid?” (Reference: That episode when he met Chifuyu, those flashback episodes, and the TokRev booklet)

(3) Baji values friendship. He is literally Kazutora’s ride or die. Additionally, when Kazutora was in juvie, he was writing letters to him. Although it is peak comedy that he cannot write Kazutora’s name (Tora = tiger), we cannot discount the fact that this is a testament of great friendship. The ones who did the same thing were Peh and Draken when Pah was in juvie. (Reference: Those flashbacks episode, the episode after Pah was detained, and that Chibi Revengers episode)

(4) Baji knows how to be gentle. Despite his intimidating demeanor and his tendency to punch first then ask later, his dream is to have his own pet shop. Not to own or teach at a dojo where brute force and techniques are superior, but a pet shop owner — a line of work that requires people to be gentle when handling animals. Stray cats come to him, and he has picture books of animals in his room. He also values those picture books because he was annoyed that Mikey ruined it 😂 (Reference: His character profile, and that official Wakui art for the monthly meeting of Mikey’s victims) Additionally, when Kazutora killed Shinichiro accidentally, remember that Baji hugged him and assured him after his initial shock (Reference: That TokRev manga chapter/anime episode)

(5) Baji knows how to make deep connections, and could change other people. He met Kazutora when it was the latter’s supposed crappiest birthday, but he managed to turn it around. He also changed Kazutora’s view of friendship — that is, one without any interest. He met Chifuyu and made him learn how to respect his senpai (although they are of the same year) without doing anything to him. Moreover, Chifuyu wanted to be a pilot but eventually became a pet shop owner with Kazutora as his employee. Just imagine the amount of influence Baji has for his closest friends to still do things to honor him despite being adults. (Reference: The TokRev booklets, and those manga chapters)

(6) Baji never loses sight of what is important. Toman was his treasure and that is why he did everything in his power to protect it, even at the cost of his own life. The MopEd was important to Mikey and he literally put his body on the line just so it will not get any scratches. Also, it was important to not cause further conflict between Mikey and Kazutora’s father and that is why he was in deep bow, apologizing to the latter when it was Mikey’s fault in the first place. (Reference: Those flashback chapters, and the TokRev booklets)

He really is a great guy.

You’ve always been his sweet (y\n). He admires your kindness towards others, and appreciates the childish spirit inside of you. But little did he know that actually you’re one of the strongest gang leaders. Takemichi refuses to involve you in his gang stuff. He gets extremely worried about you. It breaks him if he sees you scared or terrified. Besides he doesn’t want you to see him fight. Despite him being a good fighter, he still manages to get beaten up by someone and the thought of you seeing him like that makes him afraid. Afraid of you being worried about him, and afraid of you thinking that he’s not able to protect you. “No (y\n) please! Don’t come with me it’s really dangerous!” “But baby nothing will happen to me, I promise no one will be able to see me”. You knew that they’re fighting Valhalla that day, that’s why you insisted to come along…to protect Takemichi. You followed him there; you wanted to make sure that he’s okay. You watched from a far, you saw two guys towering him. One of them started punching him making his nose bleed. You clenched your fists, took a step forward but then stopped. Are you ready to reveal your little secret? Will he leave you if he knows your truth? You shook your head on focused on Takemichi “please fight back, please baby” you said to yourself through gritted teeth. You couldn’t take it anymore, you knew that you’re gonna get exposed by Valhalla members because that gang is your rival but you had no choice, all what matters is to save the love of your life. You ran towards them, jumped and kicked that guy, making him and his partner fall on the ground you started punching them, making them bleed; you couldn’t stop yourself from hitting them. It was inside of you, you were used to beat your rivals up till they lose count. “(y-y\n)?” whispered Takemichi, his eyes were wide, looking at you in pure shock. He was used to your soft glances that never fail in making his heart race but now he met your wildness, your anger..a never expected side of you. You got on your feet ready to tell him the truth “Tak-“ but someone interrupted you, you can identify that voice, the voice you hated, the voice of your enemy “Look whos here”said Kazutora “came here to help Toman huh?” you glared at him trying to calm yourself down “But why didn’t you bring your gang? Or you came here for personal reasons?” he added smirking and the shifting his eyes to Takemichi. “g-gang? (y\n) what gang?”. You gulped you wanted to be the one to confess but Kazutora did it first. You were unsure of what to do, should you talk with Takemichi first or beat the shit out of Kazutora first. You took a deep breath and turned around to face your lover “Actually I-I’m a-“ again he cut you off “such a shame (y\n) you didn’t tell your sweetheart that you’re a gang leader?”he said putting a hand on his mouth faking a gasp. “That’s none of your business Kazutora! So you better shut up before I break your face” “Let’s see if you can”. You and Kazutora started fighting and Takemichi couldn’t move, he froze in his place, he had many questions, should he wait for you or interrupt your fight? You were a good fighter, better than him. You took a stick to hit Kazutora’s head but Takemichi stopped you “please don’t do that, don’t get your hands dirty” instead he punched Kazutora knocking him out. He then looked at you “I c-can explain”. Both of you forgot about the fight, he led you to somewhere private so you can talk comfortably. Luckily Takemichi didn’t get mad or disappointed he made sure to listen and understand. “I’m sorry for not telling you sooner! you didn’t see the way he heaved for air, the way mikey’s blood coated fists hammered into his face at an alarming speed or the tears that pricked the sides of his eyes when he started to think about; shinichiro, baji and you. you who he promised to marry one day, you who he swore to protect no matter what and you who he promised to come back to. he knew what he came to do and he had a plan: kill mikey no matter the cost. wasn’t it his fault he went to juvie? was it not his fault precious years with you were shortened? what's worse is nobody told you anything, they’d kept you in the dark for so long you thought he disappeared or worse was kidnapped. so yea it was mikey’s fault and kazutora knew better than to think it was going to be easy, but he had already set up his mind and backing down wasn’t an option.

“Shit, shit, shit, it hurts. god it really fucking hurts” he curses to nobody but himself and as kazutora starts to lose consciousness, he recalls the last conversation the two of you had.

“you shouldn’t go, it's dangerous. look I'm not sure about this one tora, something seems off about your new gang and the leader seems shady too”

“come on every fight is dangerous, but I always come back, don't I? don’t worry I'll be back this time too. so rest up a bit, who knows I might be able to snag some of that takeout you like so much” he yells over his shoulder, as he runs out of your front door, you miss the way he secures the knife in his pocket and that was the last time you saw your boyfriend.

you don’t remember how long you’ve been sitting there or how many times you’ve gone to visit. all that mattered is he was lonely and he needed you or maybe it’s because you didn’t get a proper goodbye, so this was your way of getting closure.

screaming seemed like a good idea, yelling into his face, “YOU LIAR”. yet no words left your mouth and even if you wanted to, the rain would drown you out. besides, you were also a liar so you couldn’t be a hypocrite. after all, you promised him; that whatever the future held, his friends would be there in the end and that no matter what the issue was, it could be resolved. if only you knew what the problem was, your words would’ve been different. if you knew it’d end like this? you wouldn’t have let him go through that door. even if you had to break his arm or a leg, it’d be nothing compared to saving his life. you were a liar because his friends weren’t there. not once did they visit his grave and you’d know, because it was your family who paid for the headstone and the funeral, it was also your family who’ve made it their daily routine after hours, upon hours to drag you home when the night was getting dark. despite sending invitations, not 1 toman member came and even being with them for a short time you’d hoped at least a valhalla member would show up. you wonder what he’s doing, is he happy up there? did he make it to heaven? you could only hope, wish and pray with all your soul, because-

Rereading Tokyo Revengers and characters review.

I think I'm starting to understand that probably Takemichi knew everything. (This is a long post so... take a seat I guess.)

(Everything started in a rooftop...)

I mean, he knew what was gonna happen if he didn't help Mikey. And I mean it FOR REAL. (Don't need to say this has like a-hell-of-spoilers, but well-)

He was worried about him in the future, about Mikey not being happy, about him being isolated from the rest, about him having a lifestyle really messed up, yeah. But, I will go even further...

I believe Takemichi knows Mikey so well, that he predicted Mikey was gonna kill himself sooner or later in that future. (More sooner than later.) So when Takemichi said: "I have to save Mikey", he really meant it. Not just that he was sad because Mikey will be unhappy forever, not just that Takemichi himself was worried about him being alone or feeling bad about it. Of abandon him in some kind of distorted way while he was that happy at his cost. (Cause in the start, Mikey was to Takemichi a way to control the future, to keep the others safe. But then he get the real point. He cared about him as much as the others. Or even more.)

Inside of him, something was saying "Mikey can't survive alone, I have to save him, cause he will hurt himself again." Mikey's heart have been weakened so many times and that's why he can't, by all meaning, leave him be in that last future. He have seen (Manila's) Mikey trying to convice him to end his miserable life. And he pointed at Takemichi with a gun, without bullets yeah, but a gun. Mikey was not "strong" to kill himself after doing what he did to the other members of Toman, but he wanted to die. All the time. Every single time. Mikey knew he was turning into someone despicable created from the emptiness in his heart. Mikey's logic could be somethign like:

"If I lose someone is okay, cause I can't feel anything anymore. And If I can't feel anything, then why that is wrong? Or good? To live, to die, to kill. Nothing has a meaning at all. Everything is pointless and doesn't matter. Nothing that I was fighting for really cares, so..."

More or less, that was something he told to Takemichi in the past "My brother should be here. But he's not. And I don't understand. And when I think about it I can't see the difference between left or right. From good. Or wrong."

That's why, in that moment, while he was still healthy, he advised Takemichi: I'm going to need you to scold me like my brother would. (cause man, shit is about to go down and I will lose the control of my life.)

And you know (what!), let's go even further than this.

Cause the Bonten Mikey, knew it too. He said to Takemichi: "I knew this was gonna happen. That's what I didn't want to see you." He knew he would shot Takemichi for real this time. And he knew that in the moment he saw Takemichi, he had to kill himself.

Because for Mikey, Takemichi is like his older brother. (Without the like part, tbh.) He is the person that Mikey admires the most in his heart, even if it's broken, that's a truth Mikey can not runaway from it. He didn't want him to go away or to lose him, even if he could not say it at all...

He always feels the need to be stronger for all of the people he wanted to protect. If you go and read the specials "Kazutora's past one shots", you will get it. Mikey protects others, carrying and sharing their pain. Like something tangible. "If you are sad then I'll carry that with you." I put "you" over my own self. I put "your happiness" over my own, my own feelings. Mikey absorbs the others bad emotions and doing that what he gets in the end is: lost.

Because, when that people goes, or dies. There is nothing left. Of course he feel numb. "How can you understand your own feelings when what you have been doing all this time is worrying about others and putting their needs over yours." Being strong, win battles, that is the mask, Mikey wants to please others because he in realise has a inferiority complex the size of Japan. He doesn't believe in himself, he is afraid. He is afraid of his feelings. Of sadness. Of lost. (When Draken said Mikey's never lost a single time. He mean it. Mikey doesn't know how to react to lost. When he lost someone, he got even worse.) But if others think he is mighty, that he could protect them, then he will think that sh*t too. His confidence, his sanity come from others. Is the only thing he keeps doing all the time. (Explosion sounds.)

This has a start for sure. When Mikey lost Shinichiro at the age of twelve, that point in your life where you are trying to figure what is existing and understand who you are, he, without parents or any figure of authority (I see the grandpa as a piece of furniture at this point). He didn't lose "just" a brother. He lost the pillar that was there to help him grow (healthy). No one was there to tell Mikey to stop pushing himself so hard. Not to say Shinichiro was his hero and that he tried to imitate him in every possible and toxic way..

So, sum up. To this Mikey, the Bonten Mikey, to let be seen like this, in this state of mind (lost), by his hero... Is the end. Takemichi's figure works as a reminder of what is right. Cause even if his mind is in pure darkness, Takemichi means the light to him. (Cause Takemichi risked his life all the time to save everyone, that's what Mikey wanted to be all this time. To be strong by himself. Takemichi has all that he's missing: Trust). And seeing him, hurting him that way, trying to kill him without control. Is the end. The stop sign. Is the limit he cannot cross that make him remember who he is. And with that, comes the remorse.

And that's why he knew. Mikey's dark impulses, his bad behaviours born of not overcoming the trauma, his low mental stability for not sharing his own pain and unreal thinking, tried to separate him from Take from the start.

Sadly, in the way he has "chosen" to live... It works for him like a coping mechanism. (I refuse to see reality, that way I won't get hurt anymore. I protect myself this way, is okay. (WRONG.))

And Takemichi? He was shot in chapter 202. And even when he was dying on the floor, he saw Mikey going upstairs. And he already knew what was gonna happen next. And with al the strenght he had left, he went to the open windows to catch him once again. Cause Mikey is Takemichi's hero too. He saw the light in him when no one really cared about him.

When no one understood how hard he was trying to not hide from his fears. "This person saw in myself what I was trying to be. Even if I was afraid, even if can't fight at all, I don't want to lose myself. Cause that's the worse." (That's also what Takemichi needs Mikey to see in himself in the end.) Their relationship has so much respect between both of them. Takemichi doesn't need to be Mikey's heart. He is even more than that, he has a bond with him stronger than that, he is his safety lock.

Mikey, to Takemichi, is the one who gave him his second chance in life. A life full of regrets, now guided by what Mikey means to everyone: The purest hope that everything will go well. Cause he is there with them. (Even if it's a facade, it's important to all the people that loves Mikey.) All the characters who died, knew who Mikey truly was. And also saw in Takemichi the only person who can teach Mikey to not be afraid of being alone. Or thinking by his own. That's what "Take care of Mikey" means. Is not just "save him please", is also "show him to be himself". Cause Mikey cannot runaway from what he is.

Just a lost kid.

Takemichi has the same problem sometimes too, you see, they have the same brain cell. He has been carrying the burden all alone since the beggining. Not telling anyone. He wanted to protect others at all cost, but in the way he was acting selfish. (Hey, just as Baji did... Oh, just what Draken did... Izana... Ugh I hate Ken Wakui.) The difference between both of them is that Takemichi started to trust their friends. When he lost Baji, he got it. He accepted help. Takemichi didn't lose himself because he was never alone, he shared the burden with his friends, with Hina... He showed his true feelings. And that brought him to victory. (The error of Take in the final arc... was not telling the others from the start what was going on. He didn't has any help, again because the need of protection that explodes into his face.)

So that's why, the connection between Mikey and Takemichi is so strong in the story and so special. It's amazing and I love it and I feel a masochistic for rereading this arc, GOD. Even if Mikey wanted to die because of his dark impulses, when Takemichi got angry and told him to ask for help... The dark thoughts were sh*t compared to the power he wields over Mikey's mind. There is so many scenes that shows all of this and I can't post them here. But I guess the most important one was on chapter 203. When they both, finally, understood the other feelings. And see they are the same. "You don't have to be afraid cause I'm here. You don't have to be alone cause I'm here. That doesn't mean your weak or that I'm stronger, cause in the end I'm only your friend. And that's enough. I'm your equal and it's okay to let me help you."

(And I didn't start to talk about the relationship between Draken and Mikey. These boys are going to end me. Sorry for the ted talk and such. bye!)
