"Much people calls me Lambert, others call me Abel, the long name and the one I present myself with is Abel V. Lambert, and that's for short, my actual name is —clears throat— Avel Vincent Gerard Davyd-Daniel Lembart-Hyacit. Why do I usually say Lambert instead of Lembart? It's more usually written like that. Plus, no one memorices that huge ass name that was my parent's idea. So, for short, I'm just Abel V. Lambert. Short and simply, huh?"

Hopefully this doesn't sound backhanded, but it truly warms my heart seeing the weight that Adam Lambert has gained over the years. When does a Lamb become a Monster (cult of the lamb fanfiction W.I.P)

Summary:

Lambert has gotten used to this life of cultism. After being revived he serves the one who waits without question. After all.... He saved him. As a cult leader the lamb does many things to grow his community some of these things are less than moral. One day he is summoned by his god the one who waits, to investigate a bothersome rumour. Doing so he finds himself in a battle unlike one he has ever faced, against an unexpected opponent. There are many more hurdles to come in this tale as morality is questioned, ties are broken, pasts are explored and new bonds are forged.

Chapter 1

It's been over 200 years. In all that time, the Lamb chosen by the one who waits has managed to kill two of the four bishops and grow a prosperous cult. After the deaths of Leshy and Heket there had been an influx of followers to the cult, especially from the darkwood. In this cult things were mostly idyllic with ample food and shelter for all. For those in the domains outside the cult however, things had never been worse. Having to contend with dwindling resources and places to hide from devoted cultists seeking blood, everyday is a fight for survival leaving many bitter at the one who brought all this change, the Lamb. Those outside the cult actually knew very little about the Lamb prior to the change he brought with him. Most information gathered is from dissenters or personal experience. This culminated into a rule that was best known as the 'golden rule'. Excluding the devoted cultists everyone agrees to follow this rule. Do not cross the Lamb.

After getting caught by a cultist to be sacrificed or having gotten over their anger after realizing that the lamb technically freed them from servitude to the selfish gods that once ruled the lands, they hope desperately that the Lamb can 'rescue' them once more. When the Lamb does show up they are so overcome with joy they bow at the Lamb's feet immediately if they are able. Once indoctrinated into the cult things seem idyllic at first. This however, can change seemingly at random after a while in minor and major ways. The inconsistency is to much for some and though they know the punishment will be severe if found out they dissent. The punishment for dissenters also seems to be random sometimes dissenters are simply re-educated while other times..... there is no coming back. Some say this is a small price to pay for having all your needs met and others blinded by their faith, completely disregard the notion something is even wrong. Due to all this, life is indeed mostly peaceful with problems rarely ever poping up. The only ones who know the true purpose of the cult are the bishops and the Lamb themselves. "Sometimes I envy them" the lamb says to himself as he watches his followers go about their day from afar. "How wonderful it must be, to be so ignorant."

The Lamb is walking down the path from his temple one morning greeting followers as he passes in a show of politeness. As he passes a row of out houses he hears two of his followers hiding behind them, gossiping in hushed whispers. When he listens in, he can't help but shake his head. Recently there have been rumours from some of the newer followers about sightings of a strange cloaked figure with horns in the darkwood and it has spread like wildfire. Some think it's simply a enemy cultist while others think it's a monster in disguise. This in itself wouldn't be a problem as animals tend to talk. The real issue is it was affecting faith as people are growing scared, worried or both. Hopefully this just blows over soon he thinks to himself and continues on his way. It did not blow over. In fact he was just summoned by his god to go investigate this troublesome rumour, believing it to be a potential threat. If it did turn out to be true he has been ordered to eliminate whatever it is so it no longer distracts the cult. Accepting his new mission the lamb sets of for the darkwood. The lamb moves stealthily through the woods battling monsters and enemy cultists along the way. He eventually comes up on a clearing with bearies and decides to pick some, crouching down to do so. Before he can, a figure wearing a marroon hooded cloak obscuring the face, comes out of another patch of bushes to his right. Only their two horns are visible. but stops in their tracks upon spotting the lamb still crouched down. Both the lamb and the hooded figure stare at each other in silence. The moment is broken when the figure turns and runs in the direction they came. The lamb immediately leaps to their feet. Drawing their sword and giving chase. Although the figure seemed to know the terrain better, the Lamb was faster and was quickly catching up. Using a curse the lamb trips the mysterious figure, making them face plant into the dirt. Now looming over the injured target the lamb could see they were struggling to stand. as he got closer he saw something white peaking out from the hood. Finally managing to get on their knees the figure turns their head to face them. This action lets the hood fall and revealing a frightened face framed by soft, chalk colored wool, spilling over to cover their left eye.

Why do you think a golden ending with the three lords can't exist?

First of all because a golden ending wouldn't only include the three lords but also the lizards who're living here and often end up wiped out in those golden endings AU, because they're evil or bad or whatever.

Also, I think Dimitri (?) pointed it out before, but he thinks everyone has something/someone they cannot accept.

His and Edel's philosphies are complete opposites. In what "plausible" universe would Dimitri end up siding with Edelgard, if Edelgard is the FE16!Edel who, like Lonato, is willing to sacrifice randoms for a greater cause ? Dimitri cannot accept this choice, even before his boar mode.

But if Edel is willing to compromise "to get rid of the greater evil", is she still FE16's Edel? I confess I didn't think a lot about her character and motivations, so correct me if I am wrong, but Edel is marked as someone who will not compromise, and who will follow her path no matter what. Her drive defines her.

In an AU where Uncle never took Edel away, where Ionius IX died of the gout and Edel still grew up with her siblings and mother... would she have attended GM?

If the Tragedy of Duscur never happened, Dimitri would (given how Lambert did back in his days). Would Edel and Dimitri have become friends? Or would Edel have bought the "Adrestia great again" spiel that used to circulate in the Empire? Would she still hate lizards? We know she can and is willing to go to war for things she believes in, also, is willing to associate with dubious people who have turn people in biological weapons without their assent every sunday morning. Would Edel, in that AU, still be willing to go to such length to see her vision prosper? Would she still have the "strong at the top" POV forever clashing with Dimitri's?

Travelling was supposed to bring one freedom, to give one the chance to leave the dark past behind and start somewhere new, so Alucard had expected the same for him. He didn’t quite dare yet to leave his home behind completely, but he went further and further, exploring and admiring all of the beauty Wallachia had to offer. Leaving his father’s castle behind provided him with both a feeling of guilt and freedom, but he was like a hound on a leash, he would always return to the place he was supposed to guard. But not tonight.

Standing in the heavy rain, his long hair plastered to his face Alucard looked down at the dead men at his feet. There had been five of them, all of them arrogant and cocky, full of themselves, overconfident. They had underestimated the dhampir, called him a weak half-breed, an abomination that had to be erased from existence. Especially because of the fine price on his head. That had made Alucard hesitate. There was a price on his head? What for? Had he not been the one to save humanity from extinction by killing his own father? He had heard a faint echo of his father’s voice in his head, telling Alucard that humanity did not deserve to prosper, that they would never accept anything that was different than them. The dhampir had a hard time pushing that voice aside.

The five hunters had been no match for him, their arrogance being their own doom, and even though Alucard did not like to take lives, he did not enjoy violence, he still defended himself, his sword ending their lives on the spot, leaving the dhampir’s fine clothes covered in blood. There also was blood in his hair, once more making the resemblance to Dracula so much more obvious.

Sheathing his sword he walked away, leaving the corpses to rot and for the animals to feast on, but even as he left them behind he couldn’t help but wonder who had put a price on his hand. And what crime he had committed to deserve it. The truth was, he didn’t necessarily have to commit a crime to deserve a bounty. He was a monster, the only son of Dracula. Of course people would want him dead. It was as infuriating as it was heartbreaking. What was even more annoying in this moment was the never-ending rain.

Walking towards the nearest town Alucard was surprised when a certain scent caught his nose. It was a familiar one, the scent of mud and leather and a very specific kind of blood. The witcher was here? Lambert? A coincidence? Unlikely. Alucard was too familiar with the trouble Lambert could cause.

At this time the entrance hall of the inn was deserted, everyone already having retreated to their rooms, which only was an advantage for Alucard. No sane person would have allowed a dhampir covered in blood entrance to their establishment, they would have chased them away with a pitchfork. Or called a witcher. Instead Alucard made his way to the witcher’s room, but the door was launched open before he even had the chance to knock. The dhampir had to look most ominous covered in blood but to his surprise the witcher let him in anyways.

“You know about the price on my head?”, Alucard asked casually when in reality he was really upset about it, not that he feared for his life, but it meant there was an enemy out there he had not been aware of.

Pushing past the witcher he walked towards the fireplace, taking off his gloves with his teeth before holding his hands to the flames to warm them. Yes, he was half vampire, but he was also human, human enough to enjoy warmth after being drenched to the bones. Shrugging off his bloodied coat he let it fall to the ground unceremoniously, the stench of the blood of the dead hunters sticking to him was putting him in a bad mood.

“What are you doing here, Lambert? It wasn’t you who sent your hunter friends after my head, was it?”, Alucard asked with a raised eyebrow even though he knew human hunters rarely enjoyed the company of witchers. Inspecting the room once more he glanced at Lambert’s dinner, a very hard and sorry looking chunk of bread. Alucard pressed his lips together. Charming. It looked like Lambert had arrived only an hour or so before him.

Alucard stopped his investigation at the water basin. Even though he had worn gloves before he washed his hands thoroughly and then combed his wet fingers through his dirty hair, trying to clean the blood away, but it only got worse until half of his mane looked more pink-ish than blond.

They said thunderstorms were a bad omen. Lambert said it was just the fucking weather. Humans liked to exaggerate everything from a dead pigeon to browning herbs to pissing rain. One minute they were crying over the lack of rain, the next minute thunderstorms were brought upon by the work of a WITCHER. Country bumpkins really knew nothing other than drinking and pushing out little squirts.

If Witchers could control the weather, they'd be making an actual living traveling around the kingdoms. Most days, Lambert didn't even have anything worthy to kill. He bagged enough coins from robbing the dead to actually get his horse stabled and a room for himself. The first inn keeper wanted to kick him to the mud except the idiot knew better. There ain't no place for witcha's. As if Lambert wanted to stay in a place that smelled like chicken shit. The second innkeeper knew that coin was coin no matter whose hand or pocket it was in.

He kicked off his mud caked boots like he was home as soon as the door of his private room closed. It was decent considering he was used to sleeping under the stars and tree canopies. He couldn't remember the last time he had a bed even if the mattress was just stuffed with straw. Lambert continued to strip himself of his socks and his vest. Damp items were placed over the mantel of the fireplace where a weak fire was already going.

Kindle was added and he stirred the fire to more life with the iron poker. He washed his face in the wash basin, then washed his hands and arms to the elbow, and ran his wet fingers through his hair. He let the warm air dry him as he unceremoniously deposited himself into the wooden chair. He was two bites into a particular hard chunk of bread when his ears picked up footsteps. Footsteps only a witcher could hear. The smell of blood tainted the air too. Leather boots hitting mud. Rain hitting a tall and broad body.

It was more that he heard the interruption of the rain patter than the creature himself. Disgruntled villagers would be much louder. Armed soldiers louder still.
