His shoulders sag a little when he doesn’t find any, and he closes his eyes for a moment in obvious relief.

Hopefully this doesn't sound backhanded, but it truly warms my heart seeing the weight that Adam Lambert has gained over the years. I mean, I think it looks good on him, but that's not specifically what I'm saying here, I'm saying that the whole cluster of Scenes that have always informed his whole thing -- the glam rock + pop-punk/emo + Theater Gay + tiny soupcon of goth dandy -- have always been associated with a waify/heroin chic kind of body ideal, and I just love that he looks, like -- 42 and prosperous and stout like somebody's jolly gay uncle, and he's still just doing his thing. Clauneck hummed as silence took over them and the five bishops who sit in front of him, all eager to hear his answer. How can he describe you? the prophecy of the foretold a true god of life itself. 

Shamura would easily look into the future to see but they insisted that they get the answer from someone who can give them the knowledge of their new sibling coming to arrive to lands of The Old Faith. they had decided that it would be a pleasant surprise to hear the future from an old friend of the bishop siblings.

Clauneck, seemingly lost in thought, not knowing how to answer their questions of what you'd be like, as their tarot cards have told them of what you'd be..

Clauneck knows that the bishops are ever so patient of his answer, he finally lets out a little light-hearted laugh as they turned a tarot card around, showing your figure and telling them of your arrival.

Clauneck then would have a slight frown, they clear their throat, catching the attention of others.  "I can feel Fate's hand on the cards this rather interesting night....yes, the bishop is of different species than us all, more fragile and brittle than all...only to be fueled by their determination to balance all life...yes, a different breed will arrive..." he says as he draws the second card, showing your figure and how easy you are to break.

The five bishops look in shock and concern, normally they'd mock those who are weaker but for ones they will welcome in for their family, it simply cannot be that you are to not be protected at all costs!

Clauneck seems amused by these reactions, before turning the third and final card, the card that showed your mercy, your forgiveness, your heart filled with gold and humbility.

"(B/N), they are called, bringing peace and prosperity to all of the lands of this world. as true god of life, they are ever so patient and intelligent in their realm" Clauneck says, all nod in unision, though worry still filling their minds, they were still curious of the news they bare to hold, a great news to their followers of a new bishop.

Shamura takes a look at the final card, they felt the warmth. finally, they used their future vision to see your paths.  All they saw was warmth, joy, happiness, a realm filled with love and nature. 

Truly, you are of a different god than them, more merciful than them. it would make sense, you are life after all, it is part of your duty to give warmth and comfort to those in your humble abode.

They return the tarot card and stood up, nodding to their old friend. "Thank you, Clauneck. we appreciate your readings to us all, now we must prepare for their arrival and celebrate". ever the wise, Shamura turned to go ahead and prepare their realm to look extravagant for you.

the others stood up and bowed to pay respect to the tarot reader and left to go prepare their realms as well.

Narinder followed behind Shamura, feeling a bit unease of how fragile you are told to be...he wonders how fragile you actually are. Shamura notices and gives a soft pat to his back.

"Worry not, young brother of mine, I'm sure (B/N) will be strong, we shall watch over them and guide them away from the same mistakes we made in our past" they tell to him, ever the wiser as always. Narinder now feels quite eased from the comforting words of his elder sibling.

The five bishops huddled together at the center of their joined temple, whispering of what they should do for your arrival and thinking of how your realm would look before they all agreed to welcome you in warm arms and went back to their realms.

------ Millennia after the defeat of The One Who Waits, the True Bearer of the Red Crown, Lambert, decides to forgo their godly connections and plunge the world into a new age of growth and prosperity; free of any godly interference and eternal miseries.

Why do you think a golden ending with the three lords can't exist?

First of all because a golden ending wouldn't only include the three lords but also the lizards who're living here and often end up wiped out in those golden endings AU, because they're evil or bad or whatever.

Also, I think Dimitri (?) pointed it out before, but he thinks everyone has something/someone they cannot accept.

His and Edel's philosphies are complete opposites. In what "plausible" universe would Dimitri end up siding with Edelgard, if Edelgard is the FE16!Edel who, like Lonato, is willing to sacrifice randoms for a greater cause ? Dimitri cannot accept this choice, even before his boar mode.

But if Edel is willing to compromise "to get rid of the greater evil", is she still FE16's Edel? I confess I didn't think a lot about her character and motivations, so correct me if I am wrong, but Edel is marked as someone who will not compromise, and who will follow her path no matter what. Her drive defines her.

In an AU where Uncle never took Edel away, where Ionius IX died of the gout and Edel still grew up with her siblings and mother... would she have attended GM?

If the Tragedy of Duscur never happened, Dimitri would (given how Lambert did back in his days). Would Edel and Dimitri have become friends? Or would Edel have bought the "Adrestia great again" spiel that used to circulate in the Empire? Would she still hate lizards? We know she can and is willing to go to war for things she believes in, also, is willing to associate with dubious people who have turn people in biological weapons without their assent every sunday morning. Would Edel, in that AU, still be willing to go to such length to see her vision prosper? Would she still have the "strong at the top" POV forever clashing with Dimitri's?

When does a Lamb become a Monster (cult of the lamb fanfiction W.I.P)

Summary:

Lambert has gotten used to this life of cultism. After being revived he serves the one who waits without question. After all.... He saved him. As a cult leader the lamb does many things to grow his community some of these things are less than moral. One day he is summoned by his god the one who waits, to investigate a bothersome rumour. Doing so he finds himself in a battle unlike one he has ever faced, against an unexpected opponent. There are many more hurdles to come in this tale as morality is questioned, ties are broken, pasts are explored and new bonds are forged.

Chapter 1

It's been over 200 years. In all that time, the Lamb chosen by the one who waits has managed to kill two of the four bishops and grow a prosperous cult. After the deaths of Leshy and Heket there had been an influx of followers to the cult, especially from the darkwood. In this cult things were mostly idyllic with ample food and shelter for all. For those in the domains outside the cult however, things had never been worse. Having to contend with dwindling resources and places to hide from devoted cultists seeking blood, everyday is a fight for survival leaving many bitter at the one who brought all this change, the Lamb. Those outside the cult actually knew very little about the Lamb prior to the change he brought with him. Most information gathered is from dissenters or personal experience. This culminated into a rule that was best known as the 'golden rule'. Excluding the devoted cultists everyone agrees to follow this rule. Do not cross the Lamb.

After getting caught by a cultist to be sacrificed or having gotten over their anger after realizing that the lamb technically freed them from servitude to the selfish gods that once ruled the lands, they hope desperately that the Lamb can 'rescue' them once more. Recently there have been rumours from some of the newer followers about sightings of a strange cloaked figure with horns in the darkwood and it has spread like wildfire. Some think it's simply a enemy cultist while others think it's a monster in disguise. This in itself wouldn't be a problem as animals tend to talk. The real issue is it was affecting faith as people are growing scared, worried or both. Hopefully this just blows over soon he thinks to himself and continues on his way. It did not blow over. In fact he was just summoned by his god to go investigate this troublesome rumour, believing it to be a potential threat. If it did turn out to be true he has been ordered to eliminate whatever it is so it no longer distracts the cult. Accepting his new mission the lamb sets of for the darkwood. The lamb moves stealthily through the woods battling monsters and enemy cultists along the way. He eventually comes up on a clearing with bearies and decides to pick some, crouching down to do so. Before he can, a figure wearing a marroon hooded cloak obscuring the face, comes out of another patch of bushes to his right. Only their two horns are visible. but stops in their tracks upon spotting the lamb still crouched down. Both the lamb and the hooded figure stare at each other in silence. The moment is broken when the figure turns and runs in the direction they came. The lamb immediately leaps to their feet. Drawing their sword and giving chase. Although the figure seemed to know the terrain better, the Lamb was faster and was quickly catching up. Using a curse the lamb trips the mysterious figure, making them face plant into the dirt. Now looming over the injured target the lamb could see they were struggling to stand. as he got closer he saw something white peaking out from the hood. Finally managing to get on their knees the figure turns their head to face them. This action lets the hood fall and revealing a frightened face framed by soft, chalk colored wool, spilling over to cover their left eye.

There was no way he could encompass the will of all those who had wished to aid him, to wipe away his suffering or take it upon themselves but he would have to make do with what he'd had. "...I will not lie to you and say I know, because I do not know what the two of you did behind closed doors...but I want you to know, the Late Queen, she who mothered Dimitri and in its time of need did not rest until she was made to, she had never spoken an ill word of you." Despite the smile on his face his eyes teared up. "It was the opposite even, a smile had never left her face when you were even within the same estate as her." It had devastated him. "Anselma was not a bad woman, nor were you a bad man. She fled here due to turmoil and you had taken her in unconditionally on account of us, the Kingdom owing to Cornelia our prosperity in health. She too had a child and where she was in those years I could not say as the empire was going though its own crisis." At the last question Matthias's smile had simply stayed and he could only look past Lambert. Was that any question to be asking him? A thought had crossed his mind, a discussion with strangers, few who knew of his circumstance...and many themselves young. And he recalled their words, their faces as he explained himself. Recalled Dimitri's in their place. "I'm sorry Lambert..."

There he is.

Lambert had already figured that the other man had been sent to one of the other islands after failing to find him among the others busy with their own given objectives. Part of him felt relief at that- one less person to worry about, even though Matthias’ absence didn’t exactly equate to peace as a certain someone had succeeded in putting him through a quick moment of hell. At the same time however, Lambert also found himself missing the other man’s presence a bit.

Because in the end, regardless of what happens, his heart still saw him as a friend. A friend that was once close and dear, one he could trust with his life.

But Lambert hadn’t sought him for another session of bickering, neither for casual chatting or to talk about the games he had been subjected to (why are there remnants of makeup on his face?). It had been done in a rush as the conversation- or rather, argument he had with Anselma was starting to set in like slowly dipping one’s feet in freezing water. The fact that they had been apparently married, that Lambert hid her from the world to the point of picking her another name, another confirmation that indeed he seemed to belong to the Blaiddyd family and that Dimitri was supposedly his son.

All of them things that at that moment Lambert purposefully cast aside as his focus laid on ensuring Bernadetta’s wellbeing and trying to get Anselma to stop, but that now weighed more and more on his mind and it felt unbearable.

It was how he found himself coming to Matthias. He just did automatically, his brain making choices and he himself just accepted. The professor’s eyes looked visibly strained with a mixture of stress, fatigue and concern. “Matthias.”

“...that woman, Anselma. What is the deal with her?”

He was sure he hadn't endured that much, not compared to the other "tasks "games" that had been presented before them. Eating cake that was too sweet and being attacked by fauna he couldn't hit back felt more like a training session than it did a true battle. Part of him had been glad that he didn't have to share the table with the man who he'd unceremoniously thrown his thoughts at. He had already seen part of the fruit born by that endeavor...but now he had to deal with the full repercussions of such a thing. Their team was not worse for wear, all of them still remained and he knew now that he had people whom he could truly count on if the situation called for it...it gave him leeway, room to deal with this ever encroaching problem that would have to be faced sooner or later. And sooner it had been divinated. Matthias took a deep breath and grabbed Lambert by the arm, walking him out of the cabin and off to an area of the beach where even should prying eyes gaze upon them, ears would simply catch the sound of waves. He had looked at the man for a moment. Then another...and another until he found himself staring. What should I say? What would ease the burden you already bear? How much have you recalled about yourself and all you were? Plagued by his thoughts, all he can see to do is embrace the man in a tight hug. "She was a woman who sought refuge under you, on the request of Cornelia, your court mage. I cannot tell you what it was you felt for her or why, but you took her as your consort" Concubine wasn't the word but neither was consort. Wife was all there was...and yet Matthias not dare call her that...no officiation would change the fact that he'd never be able to see Anselma as having been that. "She too was thought to have perished with you when you passed...yet in all of tolling, all our investigation and search...nary a scratch turned up on her carriage, nay not even a scrap of her clothing left at the scene. Some were hopeful...she was simply taken for ransom, used as a pawn against us who were left...some tool to try and make us put down arms but that too never came to pass..." He takes a step back, but his hands, they linger and rest on Lambert's shoulders. "Stay away from her. She only means to cause you more sorrow than she has to begin with. I've not the proof to try her by our laws...but I fear she had a hand in what happened to you, even if it was as simple as letting them know when it was you would be resting. Dimitri-" For the first time in a while he feels his stomach turn, maybe it had been that horridly acrid cake from earlier or maybe it was the recalling of just the state that poor child had been in when he had first seen him but it was only by the Goddess's good graces that he could force it down and look at Lambert. "If the goddess were anymore cruel, both of you would have been stolen from us that day. That she only negotiated herself...not even a guarantee of safety for the boy, that is enough incrimination for me." And then a hand over his heart, a fire that had tempered itself suddenly blazed as he placed a hand over his heart. "For now I will deal with her...just be wary Lambert...I couldn't stand to lose you again because you fell for someone like that again."
