Ten of my favorite props I painted for TMNT Mutant Mayhem.

5. Bebop’s Juke Box

6. Aprils phone case and stickers.

7. Burger from the Bowling Alley

8. Jumper cables from an early version of the Chop shop fight.

9. Mondo Gecko’s Skate Board

10. Sniper Rifle which was from a longer version of the Ice cream truck Heist that got cut down for time and clarity.

Painting props is a very fun and more relaxing part of doing Visdev. We often get chives props in between doing big heavy lifting paintings for sets as a way to cool down. It’s great because props are a smaller task so you get the satisfaction for “succeeding” more quickly and often as you knock out a hand full of prop paintings. It’s more straightforward and less psychically demanding.

I associate so many Pierce the Veil songs with 9-1-1 and Buddie that now I cannot listen to Jaws of Life (see??) without thinking about them.

Obviously there’s more overt songs like Emergency Contact, but I think in general Pierce the Veil has a particular tone to all their romantic songs that fits Buddie really well. Part of the reason why I like the band so much is that they talk about love and relationships in ways that don’t come off as cliche. Some songs are dramatic and fictionalized, like Match Into Water and I Don’t Care If You’re Contagious, while others are more domestic and mundane, like most of Jaws of Life. Either way, the songs express devotion in ways that go beyond a typical love song. They’re saying, “I love you so much I would fight off death for you,” “I love you so much I want to be there for you in every boring, amazing, and painful moment.”

That’s what fits Buddie so well - Buck and Eddie are devoted to each other in every possible way. They love each other in the way where you want to go grocery shopping together, but also in the way where you claw at the ground with your hands when you think they’re gone. The range of their relationship, their devotion, matches the range - from domestic to deadly - that Pierce the Veil captures in their songs. Buck and Eddie have a unique kind of devotion that goes beyond a typical love story.

And also, “I don’t care if you’re sick, I don’t care if you’re contagious, I would kiss you even if you were dead”?? That’s so them!

My designs for the TCRI motorcycle april steals in act 3. The top one is the final we went with. Tried to incorporate some classic 1987 tmnt tech language into the design. I also designed Jessica Drew’s motorcycle in Across the Spiderverse , so it’s a 2 for 2 motorcycle year for me. 🫡
