I really hope there will be time for a little Ed/Izzy backstory, especially in light of the Izzy crying clip.

Edward snipping off toes and presumably using Izzy to vent his sadness/anger on hits differently when they are just work mates (with a delusional Izzy) as opposed to best friends/former lovers.

I don't know what would be worse though, realizing you where just there and annoying or having your past memories tainted. Probably this is already too far into fanfiction territory but I didn't expect the crying Izzy clip either...

(The worst for me would be no backstory at all.)

really enjoying hearing jihoon talk abt the process of recording move, it's clear that it was really important to him for it to be exactly up to junkyu's vision, and they talked about / collaborated on each part a lot - jihoon tried a bunch of different parts of the song and tried to sing in different styles, and he talks about his role as not helping junkyu actually direct the song but helping him in figuring out what he wanted / supporting him (i read a couple different translations, this was the gist) ... i'm always really amazed by jihoon as a leader especially in his ability to step back when the situation doesn't call for HIM to be the one to lead. this was junkyu's opportunity to really shine and he took that so seriously while offering his full support behind and beside him. he's always been junkyu's number one fan and junkyu really values jihoon's guidance, i'm so glad that they both had the opportunity to bring kyu's song to life and have been enjoying promoting it together so much 🥹

People really forget sometimes that it’s super rare for pop stars to have the level of success Shakira is having in middle age. That’s why I will never complain about her taking her time to put out an album or anything music related. A lot of others would be full on retired or coasting on past hits to do small venues at the age of 46.

Instead she’s cranking out #1 singles and will be able to do stadiums when she eventually does a tour, I’m assuming next year.

I also think based on when she releases it, she will finally get her #1 on the US album chart based on the streaming strength of all these singles she is releasing that will be on it.

She’s been doing amazing and we should appreciate it because this very well could be her last major era, and the fact it’s close to being the same kind of iconic as the Laundry Service period is crazy all things considered.

Thank you!!! I swear, Shakira's fandom is the weirdest group of stans I've ever seen. The way they act as if Shakira's some type of newcomer who has no idea what she's doing, and not a 46 year old global legend whose been 30+ years at the highest level and who defies all the norms for female pop artists at her age, is just absurd! And even before this record breaking year, she's always been unique in that she's one of the few artists from past generations, who has smoothly transitioned into the streaming era and continues to impact new generations. At her age & her trajectory, normal (and expected) would be to live off classic hits. Live off of name, past glories & touring because for the most part, the gp isn't really consuming your new music (ex: Xtina, Mariah Carey, Jlo, Britney Spears, Thalia, Paulina Rubio, etc). Ms. Beyonce herself, even though she continues to be huge (especially in touring & in general pop culture) isn't a top force in streaming services. Meanwhile Shakira is subsequently one of the trendiest artist of the moment, while also being an established legend. But for some reason, her hardcore fanbase is always on edge and expecting the worst. It's completely insane and unbelievable lol.

It's annoying that we still have to keep waiting for the album, but I also imagine it's going to do very well when it finally comes out, likewise her inevitable tour. Nobody can predict the future obviously, but I've always thought that one of the reasons Shakira's managed to keep herself relevant throughout the years is because she knows how much to give the public and when. While fans continue their discourse about Shakira "missing her opportunities", I think Shakira's been very strategic about how much exposure she needs at given times. She knows that impact and authenticity, is more important than trends and numbers when you're playing for the long run. And the little bits of material she's been giving us in the last year or so, have proved that she knows exactly what she's doing. Nothing's a guarantee in life, but this has damn well been one of Shakira's most successful years in her career, and that's saying a lot!!

i think when putting together a timeline of events here it's important to remember that the black parade music video takes place 10 to 15 or so years before the patient dies, it's a flashback to his childhood when he went to see the parade, and he's not lucid at the moment the music video starts. we can assume that the planes and more scary/decrepit imagery is not from his childhood trip, but is influenced by what he's seen in the war, or the noise of the warplanes overhead while he's in the actual hospital room (correct me if im wrong, but i believe the war isn't yet over when he dies)

the imagery we have from the welcome to the black parade music video is not what the landscape of the country actually looked like, in contrast to the very real and grounded feeling the dictator trailer had. it was the last hallucinations of a dying man. a distant and dim city, war planes, a childhood memory, drawn curtains, nurses, and the beeping of medical equipment.

I think it's also worth noting the similarities between the ashes falling on the black parade and the papers/confetti falling in the new promo. you could definitely argue it's just to take up visual space, but I think the comparison is interesting nevertheless.

Here are some more obvious parallels between visuals, specifically the skylines, in chronological order. War and decay, shiny new fascism, and the ruins of (presumably, although the differences in window shape and the neons throw me off, so it may be unrelated) that same city.

the visuals of welcome to the black parade are very very inspired by german expressionist film movements, especially the cabinet or dr caligari, and the last things i wanted to point out here were the nods to that in the set of the wwwy shows with the vignette/spotlight overtop a single figure

but yea! just very excited to break down any imagery to come and finally put my art degree to good use
