Look at this pretty girl I found this morning!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
She was in the grass in the backyard fluttering quite violently but not getting anywhere. I think she landed and got her wings too wet in the dew.
I brought her on the deck and put her on our purple basil to dry off. Seems she thought it was a good place to blend in herself.

a mess of mature promethea moth caterpillars (Callosamia promethea) wriggling plumply after spending a little less than a month fattening up on wild cherry leaves
a smaller relative of the cecropia moth, these are one of the less well-known giant silkmoths in the US, but they might just be my favorite species to raise.

Saw this cutie a little while ago. Preeeeetty sure shes a female Tuliptree silkmoth (Callosamia angulifera). The only reason im unsure is that tuliptree moths are SO similar to promethea moths (Callosamia promethea). They both live in my area, and i honestly don't know enough about moths to be able to tell the difference.

Bracket F Round 1
Poll 24
Ace "Mayhem" Hills (@impulsivefanwriter) vs. Gus Mothman  (@the-moon-pal)
367. Ace "Mayhem" Hills (@impulsivefanwriter)
He/him
God wants him dead and everyone gets to find out why.
He’s a chaotic ball of dramatic theatre kid and petty villainy, self-proclaimed “supervillain” of his school, and determined to bring some entertainment into the lives of depressed, overworked university students. He’s also head over heels for his roommate & best friend Kyle and hopes to impress him with his secret identity, “Mayhem” (as intentionally cliché as the name is). Can name every cartoon villain ever and has every monologue and witty comeback memorized. Longs for a superhero nemesis to duke it out with because he has the power to create short-range portals. A prankster and a prick (though never intentionally mean to those that don’t deserve it), he's got zero impulsive control and makes it everyone's problem. Can, will, and has flooded the office of people he doesn't like and put bubble bath in the school fountain.
Also in a homoromantic love square with Kyle and the self-proclaimed vigilante "Nemesis" (who are one and the same), and many shenanigans follow
"Dashing, roguish supervillain", in his own words
368. Gus Mothman  (@the-moon-pal)
he/him
Gus is no other than the mothman! an Adrenaline Junkie with a love for the outsides and things that make his heart race! Who doesn't like a man who's head is in the clouds and sometimes- free falling towards the ground? So please! Consider him for your vote <3
Gus is a brown colored moth ( inspired on the promethea silkmoth (male) ) with dark brown hair and 6 red eyes, he wears a sort of aviator outfit with goggles and all and a pair of boots. His wings are dark blue with cream accents on the ends

This is a male promethea silkmoth (Callosamia promethea). Also called spicebush moths after their favorite host plant. Here is a link to an Etsy page that apparently sells them to be raised.
