Update #4 Jayvik Embroidery Piece

1. after much debating with myself about how to outline the "holes" for a cleaner edge, I decided to do a little chain stitch. Looks ok (for now at least). Still need to tune up the inner edges.

2. I want an organic look for the silhouettes and so I decided to fill them out in bullion knots. Would I recommend doing this? Only if you're slightly insane... but yes. Because I think it looks hella cool.

Btw, this piece will probably be for sale once it's done, as well as my other pieces (and I take commissions! )

With about 2 weeks left of the first batch of casting, I wanted to share some behind the scenes stuff of what I'm working on to prepare!

I'm keeping track of all of our auditions! There's so many of you guys!!

I have personal notes for all of the auditions I've listened to so far as well. It'll help me narrow down the candidates (!!) for each role!

Speaking of auditions, I've also been collecting all of the extra roles I'll need to cast for! Those will likely be a bit later down the line, especially since many of them only show up for a small section of a chapter.

Script work is already underway! I've almost reached the First Trial portion! I'm hoping to get up to the main cast introductions before casting ends.

I also want to work on cast introduction plans so that I have that ready when the main cast comes in! I'll try and keep you all as updated as I can without giving too much away ^^ !!

Just a heads-up, YouTube releases for the rest of our Highlights songs will be releasing over the weekend. We'll put up a post with video links to every track once they've all been shared.

Other than that, we're just waiting for the next SFTW milestone...

Hey, folks. I have some bad news.

Starting now, AUJ will be on hiatus—the length of which is uncertain—as the laptop I used to create the episodes is broken and is no longer usable.

The new one is gonna be ordered soon, but it might take a while before it gets here.

Until then, I'll unfortunately have to keep all of this on hold. I'm so sorry.

The expected august release date for billy knight has been removed from IMDb. I know IMDb isn't always reliable but I was really hoping this date would stick especially with the director saying it was coming soon. Now there's no date.

Hey anon, ughhh that’s frustrating, but here’s some good news: there’s a podcast out with the director (intermission, ep 30, Alec Roth) and it discusses the film for like 15 minutes and you get much more on synopsis, genre (movie about movies, rom com, fantasy), that Al Pacino was involved in casting Charlie (v cool!), that it’s a much lighter/happier character for Charlie, etc. Def worth a listen! Seems v confident it’s coming out, but doesn’t say when.

Thoughts and an Update on RJ

I feel like I've been away forever, but really I've been around and interacting. January is simultaneously going by quickly and slowly. My health has been getting better and better, and there are less ill days in general, which means I can do more outside of bed. And of course I do. But that makes me feel like I'm not online any more because I'm not stuck with only online.

I'm listening to my body more and resting when I need to rest and not pushing myself past my limits. I'm letting my hyperfixations run their course and not denying making time for them, or feeling guilty that I'm not completing some of the things that I wanted to before the muse grabbed me and shoved my face into their bosom.

I decided to try giving dividers a shot about 4 days ago, and I've been basically doing that any time I'm free. It's been really cool. I'm learning a lot on how to manipulate pictures to get my desired effect. I've always been a learn by doing person, so it's neat to see things come out of my own experiments.

I got my Archive of Love up only a month or so ago - literally a month today. Haha. I started it on Christmas. How funny. And in a month I've filled it with so many things, and I'm super happy about that.

When I think about how Doki Doki Digest went live 6 weeks ago, that's so ridiculous to me. It feels like it has been running for months and months. We're slowly filling it up with content.

And! And! I've been invited to hang out with @scumberly on Sundays while she plays Psychedelica of the Black Butterfly for the first time. So, while I'm unable to stream my VTuber self, I get to at least engage in some shenanigans.

Look, I don't believe in a higher power, or some divine fate that controls me, but right now I'm feeling very blessed. The world is falling apart around me, and my life is in constant turmoil, but I'm finding joy and love and comfort in things every. Single. Day.

November 5th marked a huge changing point in my life. I lost friends and my hope was hanging on by a thread ready to split and fray. But I decided I'm not going to take shit any longer. I'm going to be more me and I'm not going to apologize for it. Then I got sick because chronically ill. lol. But after that! I can look back the last 6 weeks and see how much happier I am. How much more authentic I am. And you know what? I like me better this way.

Project Updates

Haven't made one of these posts for a while! I'm (slightly) more employed than I was this time last year, so the larger projects have been on hold for a few months. But it's fun to make smaller edits and new alt-angle cutscene gifs in the meantime.

Traitor Inquisitorius Part 3 is officially in production - I have the music and story figured out, and about a minute of the edit assembled so far. It will be the most ambitious Jedi video I've ever made (!!!!) and my hope is to release it before Christmas 🤞

Other ideas in the queue include a mini-vid for Bode, a Cal+Cere edit, a Mantis Crew mini-vid, a post-Survivor Cal edit, another fun hype video, etc. Definitely not running out of projects anytime soon :) Posts will be slower for the next couple weeks while I focus on TI3, but I'll reblog some older stuff and dig through the drafts.

And though I don't really advertise it, I do have a Ko-Fi account! If you enjoy what I create for the Jedi series and want to directly support me, that's a way to do so. I may officially open up commissions sometime next year too.

Introduction -

Hello hello! Welcome to the first of, likely, many project updates documenting the progress behind the scenes of this project!

As of now, this project is headed by a single person (introduction coming soon!) and as such, updates will be gradual. I hope you stick around to see what I have planned for the future!

Progress -

Currently, the main cast's audition lines have been collected! I'm working on reorganizing them as well as adding context for each one. The Casting Call Club post is also in the works. I have been combing through lines each character has to find the widest range of emotions I possibly can in order to properly gauge possible voice actors when the time comes!

Interested in auditioning but don't know where to start? I have plans to open up a Discord server in the future! It will be linked in the official announcement post once the project is ready to be posted.

Sort of. I decided to post today because I'm really impatient lol. I remembered how much I like drawing this sad old man, and... honestly I'm excited to get back into the story!

I won't be posting tomorrow, though, as it's my birthday! We'll be back to posting next Friday!

We're going to find out some very interesting things about how Jack got into the predicament he's in. :)

May & June Updates

\o/ The tone of my last update was pretty negative but lo and behold I'm feeling better than I have been in months! 

To recap from our last few episodes I've been deep in pretty bad artblock, dealing with a family death, leftover stress from dealing with visa issues and moving countries, and other general life stress. Plus a new thing since April is wrist pain at any minor use of my hand (ironic for rsi to catch up to me during a period of time where I'm NOT doing art) and that was scary for a while (I'm doing better now but still trying to take it easy). Each thing I could maybe deal with individually but all together it really put me out of commission. 

Finally though things have started calming down and in the last couple of weeks I've been doing a lot better :) 

May & June

I skipped doing an update for May so this post is a two month update... but to be honest I don't have all that much to show off regardless. A zine I took part of released!

Sea Unseen Zine

​I've drawn something for several editions of the Sea Unseen Zine at this point, in previous years I've draw some perhaps a little more niche sea creatures but this year I decided to indulge myself and draw bird. I'll be posting the full piece from that when I get a chance but for now you can get the zine from it's itch.io page 🌊

July Plans

Artfight

I can finally say my artblock is well and truly gone and with great (or horrible maybe) timing I'm getting drawn into the artfight hype. I have 34 people on my hitlist already which I probably won't be able to get to all of to be honest (especially with trying to go easy on my wrist) but I'm planning to do my best and to have a good time :) 

I've been having a lot of fun drawing myself and friends little icons so I'm planning for those to be the bulk of my artfight attacks, I've already gotten a bunch out:

But well, with how I am I can't help myself doing some bigger pieces too (you can find the full view of this one on any of my social media, I think it turned out pretty cute) 

Commissions

I'm constantly reminded I literally have the best commissioners out there. Not only do I always get the coolest designs to draw but my current batch has been so kind and patient with me as I was going through it. I'll be finishing my outstanding pieces this month and while I think a break from my regular stuff would be good for me I'll likely open comms just for those little chibi icons I've been doing (taking this as an excuse to show off some more of them - my ocs this time)
