i’m turning into such an enzo girly fr 😭💕💕💕 ilhsm
ugh, i have fallen in love with enzo so much, my little lanky broad boy 🥺 also, my requests are closed right now but I wrote it anyway because it was the last thing in my ask before i can get started on my other projects so no worries love x
You weren't really sure what happened, what changed and started making people act differently toward you, but it seemed like for the past two weeks a certain group of boys were paying you more attention.
So here you sat at lunch, deep in conversation with Luna when she suddenly cut you off, "You're being approached again." Her soft tone made it seem nonchalant, but when Mattheo Riddle sat down on the bench next to you the redness in your cheeks was apparent.
"Good morning, Princess. You look absolutely gorgeous this morning," Mattheo grabbed a piece of toast from the pile in front of him before picking up a knife to spread jam over it.
"Thank you, Mattheo, that's very kind of you," You cheeks burned further when he placed the toast on your plate for you before placing a few sausages on it as well.
Mattheo smiled at you, "I know you've got a big test this morning, you should eat well. Though I know you're brilliant so you don't really need any extra help."
You smiled shyly as you took a bite of toast. "Can I walk you to class, beautiful?" You nodded, not seeing a reason to tell him no. He was a gentleman, carrying your books for you, telling you to have a good class before seeing you off through the doorway.
During lunch you were approached again, however by a different member of the same friend group. Theo Nott approached you on your way to the Great Hall for lunch.
"Ciao, bella," Theo's eyes were definitely captivating. A light sea blue that often spoke all of the emotion he never let his face really tell.
"Hello, Theo," you smiled lightly as the tall boy slowed to your pace. "Could I sit with you at lunch?" His tone was gentle and sweet, so you nodded, giving him permission.
He wrapped an arm around your shoulders as you two entered the hall. If you were more aware of your surroundings, you'd notice Theo chance a side glance toward his own house's table. However you were too in shock that a second boy, a second handsome boy, was not only paying you mind but also eating another meal with you.
Theo was a lot funnier than you expected, making you truly belly, head thrown back laugh. You were surprised that you got along with him, but your humor seemed to be so similar and building off each other.
He asked if he could walk you to your afternoon classes and you accepted. He kept his arms around your shoulders again, continuing to make you laugh the whole way.
After classes were finished and dinner was over with, you and Luna went to the library. You tried your hardest to focus but you couldn't take your mind off of everything the happened earlier today.
"Luna," you called your friends name causing her to look at you, "did you think today was weird?"
Luna smiled happily, "Every day is weird if you look hard enough." You huffed out a sigh, "No, Lunes, I mean, wasn't it weird how nice Mattheo and Theo were to me today. Like, why today? They see me all the time. What's different now. I didn't do my hair differently, what did I do to make them so nice to me?"
Luna sat for a moment, seemingly thinking about her answer, "Are you asking because you think they should be mean to you, or because you wished it was another one of their friends being so nice to you?"
You felt your face pinken for the umpteenth time that day, "Who do you mean? I don't know what you mean..." You knew you sounded unconvincing, but you didn't think you had made it that obvious.
"Lorenzo is actually sitting over there if you want to talk to him," Luna's statement gave you the answer you needed, and also made your stomach fill with butterflies.
But after today, you couldn't hold back any longer. When you got up you saw Enzo a few tables away, his back facing you. You left your belongings at the table with Luna, walking quickly but quietly to where the real boy of your desires resided.
You pulled out the chair across from Enzo, causing him to jump slightly at the sudden movement. When you sat your started immediately speaking, barely giving him time to even register that the girl of his year long affection was finally in front of him.
"Why didn't you come up to me today?" Your question kind of stunned him, Enzo continuing to look at you with a dumbfounded expression.
You let out an exasperated sigh, "Why were two of your closest friends so nice to me today, why did they make me breakfast and walk me to class and put their arms around me?"
The more you spoke of his friends doing, the tighter Enzo's grip was on his quill, tighter and tighter until it finally snapped in his grasp. You let out a small gasp.
"I-I'm sorry. They were doing it to upset me. T-to make me, man up, as they put it," Enzo was playing with the two pieces of his quill, doing anything and everything but looking at you.
You reached across the table, doing your best to cover both his large hands with one of your smaller ones to stop the action. Enzo looked up, meeting your gaze, "Why were they trying to upset you, Enzo?"
Still looking you in the eyes, Enzo took a deep breath, "Well, because I, erm, I fancy you, Y/n. Have for some time. But you're just...Merlin, you're so pretty and whenever I get near you I forget how to speak properly and I lose my train of thought."
You looked at him with a goofy grin, "You think I'm pretty? You...fancy me?"
Enzo mirrored your smile, "Well, yeah. How could I not?" He laced his fingers with yours now.
"Well, then I guess their juvenile plan worked," you traced the top of Enzo's hand with your thumb. When he tilted his head in slight confusion, you gave him a further explanation, "I fancy you too, silly."
Enzo's face made a small 'o' before a huge grin broke over his face, "Do you think that, erm, may then, ehm, you would like to go to Hogsmead with me this weekend?"
You nodded enthusiastically, "I would love to."
"Great, wonderful, fantastic. Okay well, erm, I'm going to, just, go tell the guys if that's okay?" He stood abruptly, making his chair squeak slightly and a few other students look your way.
He was much taller than you now, him standing and you sitting. You had to crane your neck to look up at him properly but you smiled, nodding your head to tell him it was okay to tell his friends.
"Okay, well I guess I'll see you tomorrow? Breakfast together?" he asked, you nodded again, then Enzo did something neither of you expected him to do. He leaned down, placing a chaste kiss to your cheek.
You knew your face turned red instantly, Enzo's turning a similar shade. As he walked out of the library, you made your way back to your friend.
"So are you and Enzo accompanying Blaise and I these weekend?" Luna asked without looking up from her studies.
"Yeah, yeah we are," you smiled to yourself, still unable to get your work done, but now for a perfectly acceptable reason.

Now that Comiccon is over, I can finally show you all the costume projects I have been working on. (Note - this post may be alot longer than my others- more images, explanations of details, etc...)
Here is a SMRPG group cosplay I have been working on with my family for a while now. We tend to go to Comiccon together, so we thought a group one would be a good change of pace. Originally it was only supposed to be Geno, but we ended up going as a group of Mario, Princess Peach, Geno, and little Mallow.
To start off, we have Mario. The Hammer and Mustash were made from scratch. This costume was the most simple out of the bunch, but I think it turned out quite well.
Tumblr media
Next up we have Princess Peach. This dress was one of the most involved pieces to make. It was made from scratch, and uses a mix of Peaches SMRPG and SSBU design. This dress was made by my mum (who wore it.) I designed parts of the decals, crown, Gems and Frying Pan.
Tumblr media
For the main design we wanted to change it up to tie it in with SMRPG. To do this we made the crown and gem silver/ rose gold. As well as this I added the main story of SMRPG around the bottom of the dress. I wasn't able to fit every element in, but I tried to include as much as possible. I'm quite happy with this and it definitely makes the dress stand out amongst other peaches. Here's a closer look at the design.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Finally, We have Geno. This costume was completely made from scratch, using EVA foam and various other fabrics and paints. Geno has a range of features as well as interchangeable parts. I wanted to make him diverse for different events and cons.
To start, he has a removable hat and cloak, changeable eyes, a moving jaw (manual.), Bendable curls, A gun arm with LED and sounds, a pocket and photo on his cloak, a little money patch on his leg, and Mallow.
Tumblr media
The gun arm has 3 sounds, two gun affects with LEDS, and a mini voice clip for ♡♪!? (This is made up, I used an animal crossing voice filter as I'm not great with sounds effects/ audio editing.) The first gun is Geno Beam, and the second is Star gun. I tried to match up the LEDS with the in game animation sequence.
Unfortunately I don't have a great shot of the LEDS, but I will definitely get a better shot for the future as I plan to wear him out again! Hopefully this short video can demonstrate one of the sound effects. A huge shout-out to my dad who programmed and wired the LEDS, I am still very new to them, so this was a great help and definitely helped improve the Costumes performance.
Alot of people recognised Geno and the SMRPG group as a who which was great. Especially for their first convention. I will definitely be outing in Geno again at other events. If Anyone is interested in seeing more from these guys please let me know. As well as that, if as anyone wants to see certain outfits/ accessories, expressions, just let me know, I'd be happy to give them a go. (For Geno and Mallow.)
I apologise for the long post, but I hope you enjoy the costumes, and if you've read through all of this, thank you! :V

While struck down by Covid (alas, alack, etc), I’ve been watching operas on my mom’s Met Opera account. So far we’ve gotten through:
Barber of Seville (2007, Peter Mattei and Joyce DiDonato):
Charming! A delight! I want to spend more time with the music later to get a better sense of individual movements. Largo Al Factotum looms large and is as good as promised. I enjoyed Peter Mattei as Figaro and Joyce DiDonato as Rosina a lot too! Bartolo’s patter songs are fun. Looking forward to hearing those again.
Marriage of Figaro (1998; Bryn Terfel and Cecilia Bartoli as Figaro and Susanna; Renee Fleming and Dwayne Croft as Countess and Count):
Finally watched a Figaro production after listening to it a million times! Also a delight! For some reason they switched out Susanna’s two solo arias, which threw me. I saw some reviewers thought Cecilia Bartoli did a little too much physical comedy, but I really liked her. Renee Fleming was a great countess; Porgi Amor is still a dead bore to me but that’s not her fault. Cherubino was adorable, but seemed to struggle a bit with Non So Piu.
This continues to be my favorite opera, and I enjoyed this as a production. I plan to watch the other two productions available on the Met on Demand later.
Don Giovanni (2000; Bryn Terfel, Renee Fleming, Solveig Kringelborn, Hei-Kyung Hong):
I’ve now spent enough time with Don Giovanni to have an opinion: it’s good, but I don’t like it nearly as much as Figaro. The plot flow and pacing frustrate me. There are some standout musical moments, but also some parts that drag (hi act 2 Donna Anna). I do love La Ci Darem and Hei-Kyung Hong’s Zerlina was charming. Finch’Han Dal Vino and Deh Vieni A La Finestra are songs I enjoy from Don G, and of course Lepprello’s little list is fun. Donna Elivra generally has good music behind her, as does Act 1 Donna Anna.
Does Don Ottavio need to be in this opera? I’m just…not sure he does….
Every time I hear the Statue sing “Don Giovaaaaaaaannnnniiii” at the end, my brain fills in “from thy dark exile thou art suuuuuuumoned”, and it took me a bit to realize I was pulling that from Iolanthe. I like to think it’s a deliberate musical homage by Sullivan.
I definitely want to watch some more stagings of Don Giovanni; overall I enjoy the opera and I can imagine it changing a lot with different directorial choices.
Die Fledermaus (1986, Kiri Te Kanawa, Judith Blegan, Tatiana Troyanos, and some men probably)
I love an operatta. I love a dumb musical comedy. I love a catchy waltz I can’t get out of my head. Two thumbs up; great use of my time listening, bad use of my time trying to follow the details of the plot because it did not really matter. Special shout out to the Overture for being a jam. It almost renders the rest of the operetta superfluous.
A+ joke having an opera singer character who won’t stop singing during the talky bits. Love that the prince is a trouser role; that helped me through some of the dumb gender stuff elsewhere.
Total blast. I plan to listen to some more recording, including two English-language adaptations. (The POP Opera project did their English-language adaptation set in 1920s Hollywood; that’s on my short list to watch) I think I like J Strauss II!
Carmen (2014; Anita Rachvelishvili and Aleksanders Antonenko)
I’ve seen Carmen before, but it’s been awhile. My mom loves Carmen; I…struggle with it. Maybe it’s just my pro-comedy bias.
The music is very good, of course; the Habañera and Toreador song are some of the most recognizable music today for a reason. The Act 1 overture is great! Short and punchy! I think the opera might be growing on me musically as I listen to it more; I’ve found the group numbers initially overwhelming, but with a little more time i can better parse the music and find parts I really like.
But anyway, I liked most of this production! I thought the Carmen was compelling, and Don Jose was a good singer (I just hate his character a lot). The set deign (1930s Spain vibes) worked for me, which was a pleasant surprise.
Going to see La Boheme tonight! Wish me luck.

New Audio Drama Announced: HE★VENS as the Shinsengumi!
Tumblr media
We know all of nothing about the CD aside from the announcements on the website, which fortunately includes the casting! The Shinsengumi, who are actual historical figures that have showed up with different levels of prominence in many popular Japanese media franchises (such as One Piece, Touken Ranbu, and Golden Kamui, among others).
Personally, I'm mainly familiar with the Shinsengumi through a couple of more niche pieces of media that focus on them directly, and so I was immediately very excited to see this announcement. That said, my spotty knowledge of the Shinsengumi as well as the relatively little information we have so far means there's a lot I can only speculate about at the moment.
Some potentially spoilery speculation below the cut!
General thoughts
First, two things about the Shinsengumi as a whole that make them a great choice for the HE★VENS boys to play:
They have an inherent anti-villain vibe due to their original role as rivals to ST☆RISH. The Shinsengumi were similarly on the "wrong" side of history, being on the side of the military faction that opposed opening Japan's borders to the West…though ultimately, the political dynamics are more complex than that, which most good Shinsengumi adaptations play with to great effect. It's a fitting role for the team that was originally created as "antagonists" to Shining Agency that are nonetheless sympathetic in themselves.
The tragic element: Honestly, a group that is might be best known known for romantically, tragically (and often sexily) dying young is right in HE★VENS's more intense, melodramatic wheelhouse.
Relatedly: one key question is when in the Shinsengumi timeline the story will be set. I would guess from the chapter titles that this story is going to begin near the beginning of the Shinsengumi's founding and continue through the Ikedaya Incident, which is admittedly one of the Shinsengumi's most famous exploits. However, the subtitle (which scanned to me as something like "the path of the setting sun," not that I'm at all sure of that translation) hints at the Shinsengumi's ultimate fate: infighting, political betrayals, defeat, and ultimately dissolution, along with the tragic fates of several of its core members. Their tragic ending seems to have done a lot to cement the Shinsengumi them as sympathetic figures in Japanese popular culture more broadly, and I feel like HE★VENS would handle the pathos of it all beautifully, so I'm a little sad that it seems like it's only going to be hinted at. But still, there's theoretically hope for a second drama down the line if this one is successful, or fanworks if all else fails. (I feel positive that I'll see some excellent doujins coming out with this theme over the next several years, for instance.)
And in the meantime, there's also the video to be excited about! It'll be interesting to see if the video gets integrated into Live Emotion, and if so, when. (Possibly at the same time as analogous past ST☆RISH and QUARTET NIGHT projects, perhaps? 👀)
Cast List
Tumblr media
Anyway, it's time for some near-baseless idol-by-idol analysis, based on my very limited Shinsengumi knowledge! Feel free to let me know what I've gotten wrong, because I'm truly just winging it for fun over here.
Van as Kondou Isami: This is a SUPER interesting choice, and how much I think Van stans will enjoy it depends largely on how much screen time Kondou actually gets. On the one hand, he's the leader, which is a fun change of pace, and since the story seems to start early in the Shinsengumi's history, there's a good chance he'll be playing a central role. I think it's a great role for Van, who's the oldest and has displayed a strong protective streak towards the other group members. Plus, since he's a bit of a jokester and usually tries to fade into the background, I think I'll enjoy seeing him playing an important role at the center of the group. That said, though, he's usually relatively absent in depictions of the Shinsengumi that I've seen, either because he traveled places separately or for, well…other, sadder reasons. Regardless, if he mainly shows up through flashbacks or something, there's a risk that he'll be severely underutilized.
Eiichi as Hijikata Toshizou: This one seems like an inevitable casting choice. Eiichi usually gets a lot of the spotlight as a passionate-yet-controlled leader who's a cut above the rest, and that fits Hijikata to a T. The most exciting part about this for me is going to be watching him play of Eiji's Okita, as their close (and literally fraternal) dynamic is definitely going to add some pathos to Hijikata's storyline.
Eiji as Okita Souji: THIS. THIS ONE. I was SO excited to see this casting!!! Okita's is an inevitably melodramatic, very dynamic, and ultimately tragic role with a wide variety of possible interpretations. It has the potential to really push Eiji's acting chops. (I don't know if we'll get behind-the-scenes depictions of the actors responding to their roles as a part of this drama, but sometimes it happens, and it'd be a treat to see Eiji's this time.) There will be more on Okita after this list, but basically, this is breakout role territory and I'm so hyped to see that Eiji's the one cast for it.
Kira as Nagakura Shinpachi: I'll admit, this character hasn't left much of an impression on me from the adaptations of Shinsengumi media that I've seen. Given both that and Nagakura's role as next in command under Hijikata, it looks a little bit to me like the role is going to be crafted to fit Kira rather than the other way around, or perhaps utilized mainly for plot convenience. I thought at first he was going to play Saitou instead and I was very excited about it, so I'll admit to some probably-unfair disappointment on that front. I think he's might play closely off Yamato's character, though, and if the plot includes any inner-party conflict, they're likely to be on the same side of it. That would be interesting to see.
Shion as Saitou Hajime: I'll be honest, I originally misread the names and thought that Kira had gotten this role, and I was very excited about it. I'm less excited for Shion to play him, partly for a silly reason: the cover art has him drawing his katana right-handed, and one of Saitou's prominent traits was being a left-handed swordsman. (Then again, maybe that will be a red herring, and Saitou revealing his true skills to the rest of the group will be part of the plot? Or perhaps they didn't do a lot of research for the cover art. It could go either way.) Still, it's usually fun to listen to Shion acting regardless of his role; I feel like I'm never sure what sort of performance we're going to get from him.
Nagi as Toudou Heisuke: At first, this seemed like a fairly straightforward choice, but then I looked into it a bit more and now I'm not so sure. (I've seen Heisuke depicted as one of the younger members of the Shinsengumi, but when I checked Wikipedia, he had the same birth year listed as several other core members.) Regardless, however, It'll be fun to hear Nagi play what will probably be a fairly openly violent and macho role, as opposed to his usual faux-superior brat facade (/affectionate). …And also, if I'm right and the climax of the story is at Ikedaya, then he's going to get a chance for some extra melodrama then as well.
Yamato as Harada Sannousuke: I mean, this role is fine, I guess? He's far enough from the "core" of the Shinsengumi as typically depicted that he gets regularly cut out from some adaptations, or at least lumped into the background with Nagakura. It's not a bad casting choice from the vibes I remember from elsewhere, in that it seems true to type. I just don't know enough about Harada to know what to get excited about. It's also possible that he'll be close with Toudou as well, so that could be fun.
Hang on, what do you know about the Shinsengumi anyway?
Despite the length of this post so far, truly not a lot! What I do know, I learned from Japanese media with a relatively low barrier of entry. In my experience, only devoted fans of either history or manga/anime know about the Shinsengumi, even in Japan, and it seems to me like their popular depictions are an important part of cultural impact. If you'd like to get a feel for those depictions and how these figures have been mythologized in popular culture, one good starting point might be the Hakuouki franchise, particularly the first game and/or anime.
Tumblr media
Hakuouki is an old and VERY successful visual novel series. It bastardizes the Shinsengumi's actual history to hell and back (what if they were VAMPIRE-ZOMBIE BERSERKERS who were the victims of UNETHICAL MEDICAL EXPERIMENTATION?!) for kitschy dating-sim purposes, but it's silly and melodramatic and fun, much like the original UtaPri VNs. Plus, the characters are caricatured in a way that makes them very distinct from one another, so it's quick and easy to get a feel for their personalities. (Better yet, if you play the visual novel version, it lets you focus on one character at a time and get a feel for the role you're most interested in…though Harada and Shinpachi are a bit of a package set, with only one route between them.)
To give you a sense for the impact of this series, I've been to a collab cafe for Hakuouki that was running at the actual real Ikeda-ya Inn, a place where a significant battle of the Shinsengumi's took place, within the past 5 years. The game first came out in 2008. And UtaPri, which launched in a similar format (PSP rather than PS2) 2 years later, is undoubtedly very aware of the Hakuouki franchise and its popular impact.
I found an emulator version of the first game something like 10 years ago to play on PC and Mac. I couldn't tell you where, since that was several hard drives ago, but it's almost certainly still kicking around someplace. And the anime should be even easier to find.
Overall, Hakuouki's characters seem matched in a decently intuitive way with the HE★VENS members cast in each role:
Kondou (though usually not on-screen much) is the benevolent leader who'd do anything for his men.
Hijikata is the leader on the ground.
Saitou's reticent and mysterious.
Toudou's the youngest.
Shinpachi and Harada were kind of off doing their own thing. (This one is a little off, notably)
And then there's one great big notable exception.
Tumblr media
Hakuouki's Souji Okita is sardonic, critical, and at times outright aggressive, with a mean sense of humor and an intentional bad-boy vibe. This seems like a stretch for everyone's favorite cinnamon roll, especially playing against a Hijikata played by Eiichi. So instead, I'm going to guess the Okita we'll get will be a bit different. Perhaps something like this:
Tumblr media
(Yep, that guy is based on the same historical figure!)
The shoujo manga Kaze Hikaru's Souji Okita is a light-hearted jokester with a sweet disposition, who plays the airhead to Hijikata's more serious attitude…unless he's in a fight, in which case he turns into a bit of an amoral killing machine. He's also the romantic lead of the series, which totals 45 volumes. (It seems as though the licensed volumes are still being released in English, and the manga's serialization only ended in 2020. Gotta respect a long-running franchise!)
What do both of these otherwise very disparate depictions have in common? Three things stand out to me:
their near-fanatical loyalty to Hijikata and Kondou,
their determination to never surrender, and
their refusal to give in to their impending fate. (I don't think said fate will show up in this particular drama—though I could be wrong!—but either way, I won't go into it for now. You can find out about it easily enough if you go looking.)
So yeah, I think you can see why I'm very interested to see how Eiji's Okita turns out! Whether it's closer to one or the other of these two, or its own thing entirely, I believe it'll be fascinating.
In conclusion, as someone who's enjoyed the Shinsengumi stories I've encountered in the past, I'm very excited to listen to the drama and watch the music video when they come out in October!

🔥I’m interested in your LeoNeed is better than Wonderland Showtime opinions🔥
Well Ruikasa shippers are fucking annoying.
This post was sponsored by Audible-
Okay so jokes aside. Putting aside fandom grievances, how did Leo Need my least favorite band start to rise above Wonderland now one of my most hated?
So yeah I didn’t like Leo/Need at first. I honestly wasn’t too enthralled with the idea of childhood friends which… I’ll be honest, I think I was just projecting my own experience of my childhood friend becoming my bully onto that. I was like ‘Ugh is it really so bad if Shiho wants to leave the band?’ partly because I was thinking of how my friend started to spread rumors about me for being clingy. But we don’t have time to unpack all that. I think the event that made me start to really like Leo/Need was the Stage Of Sekai event. Ironically the LN event from before was probably my peak boredom with the group, having to spend a whole event on writing lyrics, but Shihos struggles and the push and pull between her friends wanting to help and not being experienced as her so she wanted them to be able to relax was so refreshing and it made Shiho start to rise through the ranks as one of my favorites. I started picking up on more of Honamis silly and neurotic tendencies, and Ichikas shy but goal oriented personality. And like. There are still things I have problems with. Their sekai is probably the most boring (just a school? Why not an observatory?) and I also get very annoyed at how Ichika hogs the mic during songs. I also think that the hard rock songs like teratera and Peaky Peaky are more fitting to their brand than slow soft ones like Made To Order, but that’s probably just me. But I started to reread some older events and I realized how strong a team they are. I loved watching them slowly march forward, their set goal, the discussion of what makes musicians create. Even the Miku software thing, while it’s pretty egregious product placement in a game that is a literal giant product placement, shows a want to understand how to make music. They very much go over how yes, achieving your dreams isn’t easy, and you will have to work hard and it might not be at the same pace as others so you’ll just have to commit which is a theme they commit to (unlike Wonderland does later but I’ll get there when I get there) and also Saki is a great character when you get her out from being ‘Tsukasa’s sister’. She’s incredibly peppy despite the fact she lost so much of her childhood and even because of that so she has to make up for it now. They write her illness well, and I adore how even though Shiho is strict, she will drop everything and make sure Saki is okay if she pushes herself too hard.
Okay now Wonderland…. Um…. So I read ahead some of the events and I remember being so upset at the ending of Arc 1 Wonderland. One of the most mature ideas in the game was that this high school friend group couldn’t last forever, but that was okay, they were going in different directions with their different dreams but they’d treasure these memories forever. The scene of the group hug where they cry together hit me hard. And I’m fine if a story wants to be a coffee shop au where nothing bad happens. But a cop out? Oooooh I get mad when a story spends so long building up that something sad will happen, and then it cheats out of that happening at the very last second. And yes I know it’s a gacha game they weren’t gonna make their most popular group disband but I think there was a very easy fix to this. Just have them split apart and post timeskip, have an inciting incident that gets the gang back together and show how they’ve changed. And boy does it make it feel like the last few events ruminating on this were filler when this happens. And that’s not the only event that feels like filler. Tell me what was the point of the stranded on an island event? Nothing of significance happened there, it felt like watching a filler episode with the ‘Were going our separate ways’ part tacked onto the end to give it meaning. Like do the writers even know what to do with these guys? These are good characters who are being put to waste! Oh yeah and also there’s that racist event that weirdos treated like 9/11 was happening when it wasn’t put in the English version. Sorry they hit the fucking Ruigon I guess, wish you’d show this same enthusiasm for literally anything else in the game.

Hello hello! I'm back after my first full week of my gap year, its so odd to think that a big phase of my life (aka high school) is over and Im just in the middle of high school and university (aka a gap year). Its a really weird position to be in but I plan for this to be one of the best years of my life hopefully!
Fashion school has its ups and downs and I realise I don't like a lot of change or being outside of my comfort zone but, little by little, I am adjusting and eventually I will get the hang of it. Its super different not doing conventionally academic stuff like learning French or studying English Literature but it's super cool to be somewhere where fashion is the main focus of everything. We have a few goals and projects to do by next month so the course is very fast paced.
So, onto the festive birthday part! Essentially, my actual birthday is in the middle of September but since half of my friend group are going off to uni around that time, I decided to push it forward and at least get one more meet-up in before everyone goes their separate ways temporarily. Unfortunately I think its the last meet-up before uni and it's all just wild. We won't see each other everyday and all of that anymore, life changes really quickly like that dude. We had a games night with a bunch of cocktails and pizza and a bunch of pink sweets and it was great! Everyone had a fun time and it's definitely a night to remember :) I have a strong feeling that this month is gonna be great and the gap year will be amazing too so let's see how it pans out!
Back to the friend group thing though, thankfully one friend is doing a gap year just like me so we will be able to meet up and I won't be going through a gap year alone :) it will be so odd being a duo for a while till the others come back for half term or if we go to see them but that's just how it is. The gifts I got for my birthday were great too! I got the cutest kuromi plushie ever (it healed my inner child no joke lmaoo) and I got a lovely planner that's got a bunch of useful pages so it will be of so much use to me this gap year!
I'm feeling thankful about everything that's happened, is happening and will happen lately. I remember two winters ago I knew I was in a really memorable era of my life so I savoured each moment constantly and I have zero regrets and, I really feel like I'm in that phase of my life again. It's gonna be a phase to remember and I wanna remember everything :)

✰Videos to watch as a newly out lesbian✰
Hello! My name is Kay (they/she), and this blog is for a school project, lol.
I decided that for this assignment I'd collect 10 videos that I think people should watch, especially as newly out Lesbians, or just queer women in general. I came out as a lesbian myself going on 5 years ago this coming June and I think that all of the following videos would have been very beneficial to me then but are still quite enjoyable now.
✰ History of Queer Woman's Symbols + History of the Lesbian Flag(s) by STRANGE ÆONS
I've been watching STRANGE ÆONS since I first came out, and in general, they have very entertaining content about Tumblr history and just silly things, but I also appreciate and enjoy their historical queer content. they are already personally very educated on their topics, but they also go the mile to back up what they're talking about. They are also pretty fast-paced with the way they present their points, which is good for me and my ADHD to listen to while I'm working on other things
✰ The Original Lesbian // Sappho Of Lesbos [CC] [AD]
Jessica Kellgren-Fozard is another lesbian youtuber who makes content about queer and lesbian history, while also having a focus on the history of the disabled and chronically ill community. She additionally makes content about her family life with her wife and son I like this video in particular, although all of her videos carry heavy importance because Sappho is credited for the very start of the wlw community if you think about it. Terms like Lesbian and Sapphic were created because of her and her writings and I think it's important to have that knowledge of her importance
✰ 19 Questions Newly Out Lesbians Have for Experienced Lesbians
As/Is is a great channel with mostly lighthearted videos about personal lives and self-improvement. I will give a warning that this video does have sexual discussions, as that is something some lesbians have questions about I think this video is great for new lesbians because it's asking questions that you're not going to really get answered till you go out and meet other lesbians to ask or experience it for yourself, and that can be really intimidating to think about. They also ask a pretty diverse group as masc and fem lesbians as well as lesbians of different races, giving the viewer a wider perspective of backgrounds to think about.
✰ Historically Important Lesbian Films You Should Watch
film is a huge staple of modern media consumption and is how a lot of people first learn about themselves and find community with like-minded people. Film in general is a good way to learn about where you come from and stories about people like you, and I think these recommendations are all really strong for different reasons
✰ A History of Queer Woman | Betwixt The Sheets
While this one is on the longer side since it's a podcast episode, I think it is a really good listen, even if you just want to put it on in the background while you're doing something else. it's not just lesbian-focused and looks at queer women as a whole community and the struggles and history that changed our culture down the line
✰ A Radical Lesbian Neighborhood in the 90's | Womontown | Full Documentary
to put it simply, I love old lesbians, and I think this short documentary is a wonderful way to celebrate those older lesbians and learn about where they come from and how they've shaped our culture today. I feel like queerness, but specifically Lesbianism is a really community-driven experience and this document drives that point home, showing how there was a group that forged their own path and made a home for themselves in the middle of the city.
✰ Lesbian Avengers Eat Fire Too
The Lesbian Avengers are a huge peace of Lesbian and queer history when it comes to the queer rights movement. They are silently credited with a good chunk of the progress we've made, and are a core reason for the "angry man hating lesbian" but at their core, they are a group os lesbians uplifting and supporting one another as they work for queer activism and this documentary takes a look at that from the inside
✰ Searching for the Lesbian Bars in America
bar nightlife has always been a huge part of queer culture, and lesbian culture specifically too. but as time has gone on, those spaces have had to close their doors consistently and in a staggering amount in comparison to gay bars. Losing these spaces is extremely detrimental to lesbians and the general populous of queer women in general
✰ Alison Grahm Explains the History Behind the Word "Butch" | InQueery | them. + Munroe Bergdorf Explains The History Behind the Word "Femme" | InQueery | them.
I often feel like lesbian terms like Femme, Butch, and Stud are misconstrued both in and out of the lesbian community, and thought that these two videos went really hand in hand to explain what they actually mean and where they come from
✰ Gail and Audrey: An Unexpected Love Story
For my last video recommendation, I picked this one about Audrey Smaltz and her wife, former Olympian Gail Marquis. This one is just a sweet little love story that helped me smile and gave me a little hope for the future of lesbians and queer women in general

Thank you so much for answering my questions, Silence! You don’t need to thank me for reading that, I love to write so whenever someone explains why they love to do so as well, I like to sit down and read it. Writing is a different process for everyone, so it’s always interesting to learn what moves other people to do it, and since you wrote about your own process I was like “📠?? 📠!!” (Just pretend that’s a typewriter ok idek what that emoji is supposed to be.)
Oh I understand why you would mourn the ability to create original writing, that’s why I said you could try with shorter stories. Omg no, not every story has to be 4-5 pages. Some of them may be 10 pages, 20 pages, 30 pages, depends on how many pages I need to develop each story. What I mean is that you could try with much shorter ones at first since you struggle with original writing, and so do I, until your brain picks up the pace, creatively speaking, and then make ‘em longer. It’s okay to know one’s limits and focus on easier things until we’re ready to push those limits, especially when it comes to creating. And if I think a short story has potential, I can include it anyway but still work on developing it as a novel one day.
I’m so glad you’re considering it! It’s helping me so I thought it could help you as well. Since you asked how to do that with a verbose style, I try to focus on events instead of entire journeys. This could translate to still using a verbose style to narrate something brief, like a group of drunken young folks who leave a club late at night and stumble across a powerful vampire/werewolf/monster who proceeds to slaughter them. It’s a short, horrific event, not a journey. What works for me is writing stories that are completely independent from one another in a way that a person could read the last story on the book first, and it wouldn’t change how they read the others. Try what works for you. The collection of stories that different characters tell to this girl who is a writer sounds pretty good and it’s really sweet, maybe try working on that if you can!
We have stories in us and they want to get out. Sometimes we will create them from scratch, sometimes they’ll be the untold stories of canon characters whose movies left a lot of things unexplored. But at the end of the day, to tell stories is to create and that’s pretty cool.
__________
{out of dalmasca} You’re very welcome, and thank you for asking them! It was fun to talk about my whole process. I haven’t really done that in a number of years, so it was interesting to see where my head was at after not thinking about those kinds of things for a long time. And I always love to hear how other writers develop their craft. I went to so many writing panels back in the day at GenCon to hear how other writers do certain things and how they approach certain scenes or topics. It was really interesting and it helped me to grow as a writer in the end.
I do think your suggestion of trying to write some short stories is a good one. Starting small might help me get back into the habit again. Trying to write an event instead of a whole journey is great advice, heh, because I always think I have to write something epic and that’s just not the case. I have in recent years tried to do the whole NaNoWriMo thing, but I never got very far into any of my ideas. But maybe even that’s too big of a project right now. I’ll think about it and try some things. And if nothing else, I always write here on this site, which I’m enjoying very much. =)
Omg we do all have stories in us. And I always tell people, whether you write one page or thousands, just write! Get it out, express it, do it! I think it’s a wonderful hobby to have, but then again, I’m really biased. XD

Interview with Personal Trainer
Tumblr media
We had the chance to interview the incredibly talented Willem Smit about his band and the upcoming music. Check out our full interview below: 1. Can you share the story behind the formation of your band? What challenges (if any) do you face with rotating band mates? Before Personal Trainer started, I was in another band called Canshaker Pi. When a band was going for a while and more people got involved, I think I started to take the songwriting and music-making process a little more seriously. Things started to take longer to be a finalized product, which meant there was a lot more thinking involved. Personal Trainer started as a name on bandcamp where I would throw stuff I recorded online, without being too picky. I "released" a bunch of EPs and I had a little project where I made three records in three days. This was very freeing and fast-paced. Then I decided I wanted something similar live. I would ask a handful of people to play some simple songs with me without rehearsing too much. This slowly changed in a line-up with rotating band members, as in bars and at shows I would ask lots of people if they wanted to join my band. Casper van der Lans, who played bass in the band, convinced me to start recording and putting out the music too. The big challenge of the rotating members for me was that, in the end, most people wouldn't rehearse too much, but I would rehearse with a lot of different people. I was looking for spontaneity, and found out that I was getting a little busy going through songs with different people, on top of writing, recording and putting out the music, doing all the planning, and booking all the shows. The production of the songs changed too: they weren't two or three chord songs anymore, they got more and more layered, so it was great to have a slightly more set version of the live band, where everyone was a little more involved with how we'd approach things live. I think the songs basically asked for a set group. 2. Could you walk us through your songwriting process on “Intangible”? What inspired this track? For intangible I had come up with a chorus before anything else, which rarely happens. I bounce a lot of material I make on to a soundcloud link and sometimes listen to it while cycling through Amsterdam, to hopefully get some ideas for the songs. I had a fragment of about 15 seconds of the chorus to intangible, with gibberish lyrics on my phone for about a year, together with a revolving cast of about 30 song ideas, and at some point I heard it and thought: I should finish this. I worked a while on how the bass and tempo should be. I remember I wanted to go for a slightly slower version, with thinner, drier drums and I wanted the bass to sound a bit more like what I'd heard from Thundercat. Really into "untitled 03" and hits like "King Kunta" by Kendrick Lamar at the time. There was some Dutch pop bands and stuff like Justin Timberlake too that inspired me a little. After trying out a lot of things I decided to ask band mates Kick Kluiving and Ruben van Weehberg to record the bass and drums to some songs with me and co-producer Casper van der Lans. Production wise we kind of restarted a bit from there and it turned into the finished product 3. Who are your biggest musical influences, and how do they shape your sound? When I was 16 I listened to a lot of Pavement, early Beck, The Breeders, Ought, Gilla band and Scram C Baby, and I think that stuff will always be floating around somewhere. I think over time I've become a little less judgemental about music on first listen. I hope I've become a little more patient listener with "open ears" or whatever, and I try and see the good things about songs or artists that I would maybe write off quite quickly before. It feels like I can draw inspiration from a lot of different sounds, which feels good. I decided I'm not scared to lose the cohesion by making different sounding songs, because I believe it will probably make sense as a whole, coming from the same brain. 4. What message or impact do you hope to convey with your music? I think I have no clear message, I like to make music. My main concern is that I'm happy with what I make, which is really hard. Maybe it's getting even increasingly hard! That occupies most space in my head. It feels like there's no room for what I'd want other people to hear when they listen to it. While making music I do try and think about what I would personally think I'd hear when I hear a song for the first time, as well as on my twentieth listen. I would like for as many people as possible to hear the records and watch the shows. The dream would be that enough people will buy tickets to shows and buy the records so I can keep making records and playing shows. Lenses:
The choice of lenses for a documentary film can greatly influence the visual style and storytelling of your project. The right lenses will depend on several factors, including the type of documentary you're making, the shooting conditions, your budget, and the creative look you want to achieve. Here are some considerations to keep in mind when selecting lenses for a documentary film:
Focal Length:
Wide-angle lenses example 16mm, and 24mm can capture expansive scenes and provide a sense of the environment. They're great for establishing shots and capturing immersive moments.
Normal/standard lenses 35mm, 50mm closely resemble human vision and can be versatile for various shots.
Telephoto lenses example 85mm and 200mm can isolate subjects from their surroundings and are helpful in capturing intimate, candid moments without intrusion.
Zoom vs. Prime Lenses:
Zoom lenses offer versatility by covering a range of focal lengths in one lens. This can be practical for fast-paced documentary shooting where changing lenses might not be feasible.
Prime lenses offer higher image quality, and wider apertures, and are generally better for achieving a cinematic look. They often require changing lenses more frequently but can provide a more distinct visual style.
Aperture:
A wide aperture such as f/1.4 to f/2.8 allows for shallow depth of field, which can help isolate subjects from their backgrounds and create a cinematic look with blurred backgrounds.
A smaller aperture f/4 to f/8 is ideal for capturing scenes with more elements in focus, such as group shots or landscapes.
Image Stabilization:
In documentary filmmaking, you might be shooting handheld or in dynamic environments. Lenses with image stabilization can help reduce the effects of camera shake and make your footage smoother.
Documentary Style:
The style of your documentary can also influence your lens choice. If you aim for a more cinematic look, prime lenses with a wider aperture might be preferable. If you're going for a more natural and immersive look, zoom lenses could be more suitable.
Ultimately, there's no one-size-fits-all answer to the "best" lenses for a documentary film. It's essential to understand your project's specific needs, style, and limitations, and then choose lenses that align with those factors. If possible, it's also a good idea to test out different lenses before starting your production to see which ones best achieve your desired visual style.
for my documentary, I wanted a mix between cinematic and true-to-life so I shot with a mix of lenses.
I used a mix of primes and zooms. the 24mm for introduction shots and 50mm and 85mm for sharp portraits and detail shots. these primes were perfect lenses to use when the shooting conditions were predictable and ideal. but for those times when things became unpredictable, I switched to the trusty 24-70mm and 70-200mm lenses. overall with this lens setup, I was able to capture all the shots I wanted and more.
Camera:
The light is focused by the lens, but it is captured by the camera. However, every filmmaker has a distinct choice when it comes to the camera. A good documentary camera should be discreet, small, light, and easy to use in tight quarters. In terms of camera equipment, I used a combination of Sony cameras, primarily the Sony FX3 and the Sony A7Siii. Sony cameras are my preferred choice because of their excellent low-light environments and offer a wide range of lenses.
When it comes down to it, the instrument is only as good as the person who uses it.

Acquainted || William Afton x afab/f!reader
s -> you and michael spent the night talking and working on a group project; however, he’s not the one you’re getting acquainted with after hours. wc -> 3241 cw -> age gap (college reader x dad william), slightly gaslighting?, two uses of sir, female terms of endearment (miss, baby girl), vaginal fingering, riding, dirty talk/degradation, unsafe sex (no condom), brief spanking, vaginal felching an -> this is the longest thing I’ve ever written, and I’m so proud ahhh I tried to pace it correctly, but if it’s bad I’m sorryyy tagged -> @astrobunny @karenjesmus @politeyounglesbian (if you didn't want to be tagged, just ignore this! you three just responded that you wanted this fic in a previous post of mine <3) ao3 -> https://archiveofourown.org/works/38564013
Random group assignments were the worst, and this wasn’t even one of your favorite classes. Sure sustainability was interesting, but how were they supposed to observe and create an artificial – yet still just as beneficial – ecosystem.
“My dad has a pond out back that we can imitate using an aquarium or something.” Michael mentioned, knocking you from your thoughts. You completely forgot you were supposed to be discussing ideas and making arrangements.
You took the pen out of your mouth and nodded, “That would be great, actually. Different types of fish are going to need different environments, which can be emulated with props.”
“Exactly.” and just Michael said that, people were starting to filter out of the classroom, signaling it was time to make their way to their next class, respectively. “Here, put your number in my phone, and I’ll send you my address. Wanna swing by around 6?”
Nodding, you put your number in and gave it back to the boy. Quite honestly, this was the first time you had spoken to him. You knew him only by his voice because he had an intoxicating accent, but you knew nothing about him. You supposed that was about to change.
Tumblr media
You got there at 6 on the dot. The house was… magnificent. It was fairly secluded, and the pond outside was more like a personal lake.
“There are only koi fish in here, but we can still examine their environment.” Michael had said, but you were too busy trying to be in awe without looking like an idiot.
Michael was actually really pleasant to be around. He would make you laugh, and you had a lot of the same interests. You got to see around the house, all the pictures on the mantel. My dad’s here, but he’ll probably be working the entire time.” he said when looking at one of the pictures of them together. They were quite similar, the dad having more distinct features and a lanky stature. His name was never mentioned.
Before either of you realized, it was nearly midnight. Michael proposed that you just stay the night and you could both head out for class in the morning, even being a gentleman in saying you could have his bed while he slept on the floor. It was late, and you were in an unfamiliar area; it didn’t really take much convincing. He gave you one of his oversized, albeit musty, shirts and turned the lights off.
Tumblr media
You woke up at some point in the night, suddenly aware of the terrible case of cotton mouth you had. Tossing, turning, trying to forget it didn’t help, so you took a deep breath and braved your way through the house to their kitchen for some water. The open layout made it easy to find as it was just down the hall from Michael’s room; however, you didn’t expect to see another, much taller body standing at the end of the island. He turned towards you as the floor creaked when you walked on the tile.
“Oh, Mr. Afton.” you said almost sheepishly.
“Hello.” he drawled, his accent noticeably thicker and deeper than Michaels. He stood well above you, he hand swirling what you assumed to be some type of bourbon, based on the decanter. Easily, he was one of the most attractive men you had ever seen. “Miss?”
“Ah, sorry,” you laughed, “Didn’t expect to see anyone up at this hour.” You suddenly became conscious of the fact that you were only wearing a long, white button up as you checked the clock in the hallway, reading 2:14 am. “I just came to get some water.”
“Of course,” the man muttered, taking a glass that was sitting on the counter top and sliding it over. “Purifier's in the fridge.”
“Thanks.”
It took a second for you to even realize you were staring at the man before you moved towards the fridge and bent down to pull the tab. Trying as you did, you couldn’t quite stop the shirt from riding up, the air hitting your ass almost making you drop the glass. You prayed the glass would fill quickly, and when it did, you shot up and closed the door, turning to find… Mr. Afton looking directly at you.
“Did- did you just get off from work, sir?” sip.
“Yes. We had a last minute, emergency meeting, and” he shook his head, pinching his nose, “I work with idiots. And please, call me William. The last woman that called me sir, well…” he didn’t finish the thought, but the smirk he wore as he took a sip of his whiskey told it all. Your legs squeezed together, tighter in response.
A few more sips of your water to quench an insatiable thirst and William was talking. “Michael told me about your little project. Did you finish it?”
“Oh yes! We were able to finish it pretty quickly. Time got away from us when we were talking, though.”
“Talking, hm... I can see that.”
You looked over to see William give you a once over, and it made you realize what that sounded like. “No, no, just talking, I swear. Michael was just kind enough to lend me one of his shirts to sleep in.”
“Mine.”
“Sorry?”
“That’s my shirt.” Oh. And suddenly the musky smell made sense. It was just a storage smell, it was cologne. His cologne. “Don’t look so scared. It’s not like I’m going to ask for it back right this moment.” he laughed and finished his drink without even a shiver. He leant back against the counter, abandoning his glass, and started again, “Looks better on you anyhow.”
You couldn’t help the giggle that escaped as if it were expelling the hot air that heated your cheeks. How was this man so effortlessly charming? “Thanks.”
“Hop up.” he nodded to the island you were leaning on, “Let’s have a chat, shall we?”
It happened without a second thought – you were enjoying yourself, honestly – but you immediately stiffened and jumped a little on impact. The island was chilling compared to the warmth that was conjured between your legs. A nervous laugh came out as you wondered what William must be thinking, but when you looked at him, he just had a slanted sort of smile. “It’s cold.” you offered.
“Why of course it is.” he said, pushing himself away from the counter and closer to you, smirking. “Because you’ve been naughty and not worn any underwear.”
You knew he knew, you felt the shirt ride up moments before, but you didn’t think he’d bring any attention to it. It’s a perfectly normal way to sleep, but the way the words came from his mouth made it sound so taboo. No words were forming in your head or your mouth; you just watched him come closer and closer until he was breathing in your ear, his hands dangerously close to your thighs, “Please, do stop me if I misread the situation, but I don’t think I have.” His fingers inched their way up one of your thighs while the other stayed planted on the island.
It was true, you wanted him more than you’d wanted anyone, but you didn’t think it showed. Surely you can keep your emotions hidden well enough, or maybe he’s just that experienced and keen-sighted. The way he got so close and then lightly scratched his nails back away had your legs trembling, and then it was gone. Instead, his thumb pulled down on your bottom lip, down your neck, through the collar, and right onto the topmost, fastened button. You didn’t have time to process before he was quite literally ripping his way through the top four or five buttons, popping them off somehow without breaking the thread, making your breasts bounce from the force. You gasped loudly, bracing yourself, and he simply looked you dead in the eye and whispered “Shhh” completely unphased. You wished you had something to grab onto, but you settled for covering your mouth with your hand.
Seeming satisfied, William moved the hand back down between your legs, this time almost immediately finding your clit and making you tense.
“Fuck, you’re so wet. All this just from looking at me, huh.” but you couldn’t respond, which in and of itself was a response, you just focused on your breath, trying to wrap your head around the pleasure coursing through you. His fingers moved in a petting pattern, slipping across your opening to gather the wetness and ending on your clit and rubbing little circles. Somehow you could feel yourself getting even wetter as it started dripping from you. Then one finger entered you, emitting a whine, trying to press yourself down against it, greedy for even more. And he obliged, adding another without resistance.
“Look at you, you dirty little whore. Taking my fingers like they belong in you.” he urged, curling them to accentuate his point, and you moaned through your hand as he kept hitting your g spot. They were so long, none of your dildos could even compare, but they fit so perfectly against every part of you. He started to scissor them, still curling them occasionally. Your toes curled as you stretched, trying to grab onto something, anything, your feet hooking onto the back of his thighs.
“M-more, sir.” you weren’t entirely aware that you called him sir, and when he added a third finger, you didn’t really care. It felt incredible, having his fingers in you, having him hovering over you, occasionally feeling his breath on your ear. You wondered how far he meant to take this, the familiar bundling of nerves starting to gather in the pit of your stomach, but like if on command, he pulled his fingers away, making you whine at the emptiness. You looked up at him just in time eto see him putting the three fingers in his mouth and sucking, humming in satisfaction at the taste. The sight took your breath away.
When he pulled his fingers from his mouth, it made a pop, and he looked at you, motioning for you to sit up. You did and he put his hands under your ass like he was going to lift you. Your arms went around his neck, and he indeed did lift you. “Where are we going?” you asked, head in the space between his neck and shoulder. He held you so easy, you weren’t worried in the least bit. He didn’t bother to respond, only moved to the next room, the living room, and onto the sofa, falling back and having you straddle him. You were so much closer now, faces inches apart, your nearly exposed breasts against his chest, your dripping wetness soaking the obvious cloth-clad boner beneath it.
“Hi.” you said, not knowing what exactly to do next since you were enjoying him calling the shots. He just lunged forward, kissing you with a fervor, nose smashing against yours while his hands tangled in your hair. It was good, it was fantastic, honestly fuck college guys, they were nothing like this. Pleasure teetering on pain with him taking control of every last detail, you could live in that moment for forever. He was the one the break apart when he felt you rutting against his lap, and he went to undo his pants.
“Sorry, darling, don’t have a condom. I didn’t exactly plan on fucking anyone.” The smirk on his face might as well be permanent as it fit him so well, his words coming out between his heavy breaths.
“I don’t care.” The only thing on your mind was William and having him take over every one of your senses.
As soon as his member was free, he let out a sigh. It was pulsing red and large, lying against his stomach. You swallowed as it would definitely stretch you more than his fingers had, but it didn’t stop you from wanting it right then. He gave it a couple of pumps, and then reached to your pussy to gather some of your wetness, using it as a form of lube. You gasped at the touch, and he just winked. “Don’t worry. I know you’ll make more, my little faucet.”
You blushed at the obvious nod to how wet he made you, and you just hid your face in his neck, reaching your hand down to try and help guide him to your entrance. You were tired of waiting.
“Eager, aren’t we? Just remember to be quiet. Michael is sleeping just a few doors down.”
Shit, Michael. You didn’t know if you could, but if it meant having his dick in you, then by God you’d try.
Even with just the tip in, you started to moan against his neck, and hearing his low groans didn’t make it any easier to hold it in. The stretch burned, but it wasn’t unbearable. You sank down an inch or two more and stopped to catch your breath. William’s head was thrown back against the back of the sofa; your hand snuck down to rub your clit.
“So… full.”
“I know, darling, I know. God, just- just a little bit more.” You nodded, breathing in and sinking lower.
The goal you had was to take the rest of him, but your hands started shaking on his chest. Everything about this man was above and beyond, and it was almost too much, a little bit more was a flat-out lie. Right as you were about to take another break, you felt yourself hit his thighs, completely seated, and you sat back, the shift pressing against something in you that made you shudder. William simply placed his hands on your hips, breathing clearly labored but focused on you. “Tell me when I can move.”
It didn’t take long, seeing the man in the state he was in, hair a mess, sweat on his forehead, his dick pulsing inside of you- as soon as you gave him the go-ahead, he held tight to your hips and bucked up, eliciting a shared moan from the both of you, one that he deafened by placing his lips on yours. The pace was slow at first, but once he was able to set a steady rhythm, he was almost animalistic. With every thrust, your breath was getting knocked out of you. He was placing kisses from your ear, down your face and neck, sucking once he got to the junction above your shoulder.
You tried to stay quiet, you really did, but when he sucked on a spot too long, too hard, teeth digging into the edges, you let out a scream, hurriedly stuffing your face against him. He didn’t let up for a second, if anything he made it worse by smacking your ass on every other thrust. The edge you felt from his fingering was back and growing. He filled you, wall to wall; with every drag out he took a part of you, and with every thrust in he gave it back tenfold.
“Will- iam.” you cried, trying to stay quiet, but God he was making it hard.
“Yes, baby girl?” He was just teasing now.
“Close, close, close.” you whined, almost panting against him.
“Well, don’t keep me in suspense, darling.” How was he still so put-together? Oh, it didn’t matter as he grabbed your hips and held them down against him, rutting his cock deeper than it’d been. It was just rubbing on your g spot, and when he whispered “Cum for me.” directly in your ear, it just pushed you over. Spasms took over your entire body as you came, William continuing to grind into you throughout. And as you got tighter, rubbing on every delicious inch of him, William also came with a low grunt, thrusts getting shakier until you both collapsed, breathing heavily and boneless. Warmth overcame you from the inside out.
If you were to bet, you indeed would bet that your legs weren’t working right now, and your arms were only good to loosely hang on to the man supporting you. His arms were wrapped tightly around your shoulders, his head leaning on yours, a momentary thought crossed your mind that you wished you could just stay here for the night. But alas…
Reluctantly, William carefully pulled out of you, placing you beside him on the sofa while he readjusted his pants. You heard him get up, but you still couldn’t move. Your eyes were closed and your head rested against the back of the sofa, posture be damned.
William’s hand nudged your legs apart, but you groaned as you felt the mixture of cum leak out. You should get cleaned up, at least off the couch, you should- fuck. Your body was wracked with intense spasms at the feeling of his mouth on your pussy, starting from the bottom and licking all the way to your clit before he swirled it. “William, what- what-”
“Cleaning you up, love.” he mused, licking his lips before diving back in.
Your hands grabbed onto his head and into his hair on instinct, as you couldn’t decide if you wanted to push him away or pull him closer. It was an odd sensation, as you felt drained but warm and tingly and overstimulated and his tongue could do magnificent things. He alternated between sucking the cum and sucking your clit, and you didn’t even realize it, but your thighs were framing his head. He reached his arms around so that he was holding your thighs, grabbing and pulling at them, all the while you were pulling his hair.
It didn’t take long until you were moving your hips, working with his tongue, riding it. He would make noises occasionally, the humming of his lips going straight up your spine. You were close but it was different; it was so much stronger. His tongue licked into your pussy, along the walls, curling to get all he could reach, his nose was perfect height to nudge at your clit.
“’m close.” you whispered, continuing to ride his face, only with him moving to suck on your clit and moving one hand to quickly thrust three fingers into you, in and out in and out. You came with a silent scream, mouth wide open without a sound, breathing stopped, only focused on William.
As soon as the first tremble hit your stomach, he pulled away, taking care to curl his fingers to get the last drops of cum from inside you. You barely cracked your eyes open to look down and see William sucking on his fingers, savoring your taste to the literal last drop.
“Thought I might suffocate down there.” he teased.
“Sorry.”
“Oh don’t be. I quite liked it.”
He stood and helped you lay down, covering you with a blanket and providing another to act as a pillow. You tried to speak, but William just tutted at you, softly running his fingers through your hair and down your cheek. “Shh shh. I’ll go tell Michael you fell asleep out here, so he’s not confused in the morning.”
All you could do was nod, but before William went through, he leant down right next to your ear and whispered, “Next time, don’t walk around my house dressed like a whore. Put some pants on.”
You’d never put on pants again if it meant you could be his.

adhd hit hard again and haven’t checked for typos yet, but will get on it as soon as I can o7
On another note if you want to read another comfort fic; I have a small series called “A Painful Reminder” which is more angsty but the 2nd part is more about the comfort, if that is something for you
Living in the SMP was chaotic, turbulent and at times downright painful.
Most people tended to gravitate to one cause or other people to deal with this. Holding on to something so they don’t get pulled under. Get buried beneath the chaos and the violence.
So having people like Y/N around was like a godsend. They were one of the few people that seemed to be able to withstand the constant waves of misfortune and stand strong. Be the rock to hold onto when everything got too overwhelming.
Wilbur, Technoblade and Tommy loved their sibling for it.
After Wilbur and Tommy got exiled with Y/N out of L’Manberg, they were there and cheered both of their siblings up. Immediately making plans on how to set up a safe home and collecting ideas on how to get back. They were the one who managed to get a message out to Technoblade and asked him to visit them. Maybe help them.
Wilbur often jokingly said that Y/N was the glue that held the family together, to which they would always reply with the warmest of smiles “I’m glad.”
And what he said was true. Whenever the family fell on hard times and they began to drift apart it was Y/N who pulled all of them back. Pulling them back to reality and giving solutions for their problems if needed.
Sitting down with Wilbur when things got to much. Listening to his thoughts and worries, letting his emotion run freely without judgement. While they looked worried for him, their comforting smile never faltered. Offering him solutions to problems if he wanted it, otherwise they gave him the chance to just air his own thoughts out. To be angry with him. Sad with him.
Working with Tommy on his own projects. Listening to his ideas and giving him a different perspective that could improve some things but also respecting it when Tommy wanted to do this his way. And while he liked to brag and pretend that some things didn’t hit him that hard, they were still patiently listening to him as he spoke about his own pain in a more roundabout way. Telling him that he was not alone and making him feel heard.
Talking to Technoblade whenever the voices got too loud or out of hand again. He would just walk over to them and nudge them away, asking them to talk about something, no matter what. He just needed to hear their voice and be able to concentrate on it. Tune out the garbled voices in his head with a familiar sound that calmed him down no matter what. Leaning against them, slowly falling asleep as Y/N told all about how they were happily working on their own farm and what shenanigans they got up to.
Y/N really was like the warm sun on a cold day. Warming them up and protecting them.
Yes, Y/N was strong. So strong that even Technoblade considered them stronger than him. Maybe not physically but mentally and emotionally.
A clanging of metal rung through the cave. Techno was training with Wilbur while Tommy was just watching. Cheering on Techno.
It wasn’t an unusual situation and something Y/N expected to see as they made their way down the staircase. Wilbur in full iron armor and weapon while Techno just fought back with his own iron sword.
“Hey, Y/N! Welcome back!” Wilbur breathed out. Sweat running down the side of his face as he stopped attacking his brother.
The three men looked happily over to their sibling who slowly walked towards them but soon their expressions fell. Something was off about Y/N and it confused the three.
Their smile was as always plastered on their face but it looked strained. Their eyes wide open, trying to look sincere and loving but the glassy look of them gave off a different picture.
“Y/N? You okay?” Tommy asked as he stood up from the ground. Taking a step closer to them which made them in return stop in their tracks.
Y/N was hugging themself, shakily opening up their mouth to answer but nothing came out. It was then when Techno got very aware of how they were shaking in general.
This all seemed so wrong. This shouldn’t be possible. It just didn’t seem to register fully inside their minds.
Wilbur made sure to get rid off his sword and armor as fast as he could, walking over to his sibling, trying to get a better look at them but they just avoided his gaze.
Staring at the ground, slowly shaking their head “It’s- It’s fine. I’m fine.”
“You aren’t. You really aren’t. What happened? Did they find you?” Techno asked, his voice full with worry. A bit of anger hidden as well.
Y/N had their own little farm in order to support Pogtopia. The potatoes from Techno were great but variety is important after all. Though they also had an abundance of wheat they usually tried to smuggle into Manberg for Niki. Trying to help her out as much as possible with her taxes and work.
This time Y/N nodded “They did… It’s fine though. I’m fine. I’m not hurt. It’s all good.”
Wilbur’s frown deepened “Usually when people have to be so adamant about being okay something isn’t alright.”
Tommy nodded, supporting his statement only to whisper to himself “Adamant? What does-“
But Wilbur continued “We are your family, talk to us.”
Y/N licked their chapped lips “I’m-“
The tears finally escaped their eyes and begun streaming down their face. Sobbing they fell down on the ground. Wilbur immediately followed suit, laying his arm around them and pulling them against his chest. His hand flew up to their head and begun going through their hair, trying to calm them down. Humming a soft tune from their childhood.
It was the first time in their lives they saw Y/N break down like that and it was quite frankly shocking.
Unsure what to do with himself Tommy squatted down “Um, uh, what- what happened?”
Techno was still gripping the iron sword in his hand. Pacing up and down. Manberg found them? What the hell did they do to make Y/N break down like that? His own sibling! Whatever it was he would make sure to pay it back a thousand times over.
“Tommy can you grab them some water?” Wilbur laid his chin on top of Y/N’s head, rubbing circles now on their back.
He didn’t even hesitate, jumping up to run towards one of the chests with food items that Y/N had always ready for them. Grabbing a water bottle and running back over. Happy that he could do something else besides staring.
Tommy then pushed the bottle towards Y/N who gratefully took it, putting some space between them and Wilbur as they drank some of the cold liquid which helped them to calm down.
“You ready to tell us what happened?” Techno stopped pacing around. His gaze purely trained on his crying sibling. Anger still rising in him just like the voices.
Screaming things like “Technosib! How dare they hurt them! Protect them! I love Y/N so much! Why would anyone hurt Y/N! They always help us! Let’s help them for a change! Technosib! Let’s go out and fight them! Yeah! Blood for the Blood God and Y/N!”
Y/N’s voice was still wavering and a bit scratchy from their sobbing as they begun speaking “Hey, hey! Techno don’t concentrate on the voices. Listen to me. It’s all good.”
This somehow made Techno angry. He threw the sword away and finally knelt down next to them as well so his face was on the same eye level as theirs “Stop. Please. Stop thinking about us for one second. Stop trying to not make us uncomfortable or worried! Tell us what happened! Please.”
He was basically begging at the last part. All his worry packed into it.
“Yeah, honestly you trying to make sure everything is okay for us makes us even more worried.” It surprised the others a bit that this came from Tommy but he was correct.
Tears fell down their face again “I- I was just delivering more wheat to Niki and someone must have followed me. They followed me back to my farm and- and- they burned my fields down. There were explosions. I- it was just my farm. I did not harm. Just, why does it always have to end like this. Why do all the good things always end like this. Why can’t this place let something be. There is always something.”
The farm was so important to Y/N. It was their little project they put so much sweat, love and work into. It was their home away from home. A place to retreat and enjoy some peace. This obviously was devastating. It was their one thing they had for themself. The one thing that wasn’t there for anyone else but them.
It was also clear that this seemed to be the straw that broke the camel’s back and it broke the three a bit that they only now seemed to notice this. That it took that long and their whole farm being destroyed for the realize this was heartbreaking.
“Who?” Techno urged but Y/N shook their head.
“I don’t know. Everything went so fast and I tried to save as much as I could but- but it’s all gone. It’s all gone.” Their voice jumped up an octave at the end, burying their face against Wilbur’s shoulder again. Silently sobbing.
It should have been impossible but Wilbur’s frown deepened and his expression turned more grim “Don’t worry. We will get back at them. We will get our revenge. They will see firsthand what they did to you, I promise.”
Shocked Y/N looked up, their red and puffy eyes wide open “Wil, that’s not what I- no revenge. There is already too much misery going around I just want this to stop. I just want all of us being able to live in peace.”
Wilbur should have known that Y/N was too good natured for that but he couldn’t help himself. He was just so angry. Angry at Schlatt and Manberg. That they went for him was one thing but to go out of their way to treat Y/N like this? Let’s just say he put it on the list in bold letters with reasonings on why he will get back at the Manberg faction.
“Listen Y/N.” Techno begun, his voice now calm again “Stop it. Just for once think about yourself. Stop thinking about others for once. You are also worthy of the same care you give us. Let us at least help rebuild your farm. You always help us with our projects, let us help you with yours.”
Tommy seemed to lit up at that “That sounds like a good idea! We could build towers around your new farm and make sure no one gets in! We could put down traps and all!”
He really wasn’t sure how to react but that was at least something he could do for them. As the past General’s right hand man, this should be something he can do. If he couldn’t protect his sibling how could he ever hope to get L’Manberg back.
Wilbur seemed to think about it for a bit but agreed “Yeah, how does that sound?” Though the dark glint in his eyes stayed. The cogs in head still running off with his own thoughts.
“You guys would? Since when can you guys build?” a dry laugh escaped them but it was a laugh nonetheless.
Both Tommy and Wilbur looked almost appalled at that claim while Techno just shrugged and nodded. Just looking around Pogtopia was more functioning than good looking after all. Y/N tried to pretty it up a bit but usually something always happened around here.
“Also Y/N, please talk to us more. Don’t bottle everything up. Please. We worry a lot about you and we love you. You always do so much for us, let us do the same.” Wilbur pushed Y/N a bit off of him and looked them deep into their eyes, hoping that this would really hammer in that this was a genuine plea.
As a respone Y/N wiped the tears off their face “I understand. I’ll try to remember that.”
“Don’t try just do it.”

1x01 Thoughts:
1. So fucking glad that they are having GG be a group project and not one individual and even though i think adults preying on children's privacy is disgusting (as gossip itself always has been), it's at least an interesting set up. Interested to see how the teacher dynamics will change the GG account as it goes though
2. NATE ARCHIBALD AS AN EXAMPLE OF BEST STUDENT?? someone who wrote this loves @rainathorpe and I personally
3. Poly ship poly ship poly ship
"it's different with you and aki"
"in a good way?"
"in the best way"
AND THEN
"you know you can think of him"
4. Julien and Zoya were so cute at first, I wish they had paced out that friendship throughout the season, but I'm also SO glad they didn't pull a Julien/Obi/Zoya cheating arc
5. I love the sound of Kristen Bell's voice
6. Zoya's dad is cute and it's interesting that he also has a unresolved relationship with the UES like Rufus even if not romantic
7. Super glad the power balance of the main trio isn't minions. Luna is shown to be an actual stylist, Monet is the one bossing Julien half the time as an actual manager, and Julien might be the influence but she's also a face. Which, the whole influencer thing is interesting in its own right
8. Max and his family of gays!!
9. Monet sitting like a queen in front of her throne!
10. Aki and his references 👌 I love this kid even more than I thought i might
11. Obi is a little annoying, but that's bc i don't want a rich white savior kid moralizing out of guilt with my trashy teen soaps lol. I don't think they had to go quite that hard to connect him with Zoya but whatever lol it's only the pilot
12. Also very unhappy with how the teachers dubbed the darkest-skinned character Monet "the villain", like bitch please.
13. I'm looking forward to actually getting to see Audrey's relationship with Julien, it was definitely overshadowed by Audrey's sex scenes they needed the promos for apparently
((that being said, it was nice to see the gender reversal of the typical standing male gratification sex scene))
14. this is something so tiny only i will care but i do love that they finally addressed campus roaming privileges even if in one sentence
AND LAST but... the digs at headbands, at chuck/blair being pre-cancel culture, and the former student now teacher being accused of being gossip girl were great

Growing Closer
You find Billy walking away from his locker, ready to go home. He's alone this time, and you heard something about Stacy being mad at him. You wonder what he did to her. Or if he just got tired and is now aiming for someone else.
“Hargrove.” You call when you're closer enough to be heard. Billy turns around immediately, and you both stop in the middle of the hall. “Do you happen to have some time? We need to discuss the calendar.”
“Sure.” He simply says, and it's clear to you he's pissed off already. He was forced into the program, so it's only normal he doesn't want to do that.
“We can hit the library. It remains open for two hours after class.” You can't help but notice some people staring. But that isn't a surprise. You and Billy are as different as day and night, and nobody expects to see you two talking.
“Sure.” He repeats, and a fun expression crosses his face before he steps aside, gesturing for you to walk.
Chuckling, you furrow your eyebrows, starting to make your way to the library.
You know the place by heart since you're here at least three times a week. Waving at the teacher who stays in the reception, you pick a table in the back, so your chattering won't bother anyone. Taking a seat, you watch as Billy settles down across from you.
It's a little weird at first, and a silence falls in between you two. You suddenly realize you've been staring at him, way too focused on his blue eyes. You didn't know Billy's eyes were so beautiful. But you quickly clear your throat, searching on your bag for your notebook.
“I made you this planner.” Pulling the paper sheet off the notebook, colorful by many different marker colors, you slide it over to him. Billy's eyes fall on it immediately, eyebrows raising. “It's just to help you keep up with everything until the end of the year. More stuff will probably be add, but don't worry, I'll let you know.”
“You have everything figured out, don't you?” He finally speaks up, holding the paper in his hands.
“I know you don't want to do this. But this is senior year and you're almost free. Just a little longer and this will be over.” Offering him a small smile, you put a strand of hair behind your ear.
“I won't repeat the year. My grades are enough to get me through.” He sounds a little angry, and you sigh.
You don't know what to say to make him cooperate if he doesn't want to. “Look, you can't get out of the Improvement Program. But you can pick another tutor. So if you want, I have a list of everyone who's still available and maybe if there's someone you already know or happen to be friends with–” As you speak, you start looking in your bag for the small blueish paper. “–you just have to talk to Mrs Martinez and–”
“I want you to be my tutor.” His voice startles you since it's a little too loud and because of the silence, it echoes a bit. “But just because I know you're the smartest person in this school.”
Biting your lip, you nod, not sure how you feel about his compliment. “Thanks... I try.”
“You freaking succeed,” Billy mutters, cupping his hands above the table.
There's heat creeping through your cheeks so you look away, bringing back to mind what else you must talk to him about. “So, the next project is a presentation on History about World War I. Our part is about the assassination of Archduke Ferdinand, the invasion of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the July crisis. The happenings before the war was set.”
“Great.”
“Shhh.” Someone says, and you look at a small group of people on your left.
“You shut up, asshole.” Billy raises his voice a little, and you look at him with wide eyes.
“Hey. Don't say that.” You warn him, giving the boy an apologetic look. “We're at a library, we're supposed to be quiet.”
“Excuse me.” Mr Williams comes, standing a few feet away. “Some students are complaining about your chattering, so I'll have to ask you to leave, please.”
“Oh...” Blushing a little, you start gathering your stuff. “Sorry, Mr Williams. We'll leave.” Billy is just about to say something when you give him a look.
You're quickly outside again, fixing the strap of your bag on your shoulder. “We...” Moving out of the way of some people heading to the library, you set into his pace, walking side by side. “We'll need some time to work on everything. So we can switch between your place and mine because doing things in the library won't work.” You feel a little shy to propose this, but it's not a big deal. You'll be doing this until the end of the year, so it's quite inevitable. “If that's ok with you, of course.”
“We should hit your place then. My father is home today, so... It just won't work.” There's a change in his voice, and you glance at him.
“My mother is home too. But she won't bother us.” Walking a little faster, you gesture at your car. “Just follow me.”
Billy nods, and you smile, giving him a little wave.
The school is empty, and so are the streets around it, so you have no trouble speeding away. Keeping your eyes on the review mirror, it only takes twenty minutes to get to your house, so you park on your usual spot, stepping out of the car and waiting for Billy to do the same. When he finally joins you on the porch, you move to unlock the door.
Tumblr media
Billy couldn't help but feel lucky to be at her place. He never thought he'd come here, under any circumstances. Trying not to let her notice, he allows his eyes to wander a little as she opens the door, taking in the place (Y/N) calls home. It has a weird feeling for him, almost as if the place is sacred, somewhere he wasn't supposed to be.
“My mother is nice. But she may say some embarring stuff so... Be prepared.” Following her inside, Billy notices as her mother looks at them, eyes going a little wide to see him. He wonders if she isn't used to her daughter bringing boys home. Knowing (Y/N), he knows she's not. “Mom, this is Billy Hargrove. I told you about him yesterday, remember? From the Improvement Program.”
She told her mother about him. So yes, she was thinking about him. Maybe just for a couple of seconds, maybe just as someone she knows, who she has told to help. But it doesn't matter. (Y/N) was thinking about him, and for now, it's enough.
“Of course.” She stands up, coming to give her daughter a quick hug and shake Billy's hand. “I'm Amanda. (Y/N)'s mother.”
“It's good to meet you, Mrs–”
“Call me Amanda kid, or else I feel terribly old.” She jokes, kindly smiling. “I believe you'll be hanging around here a lot because of school. But don't worry, I won't get in your way.”
“Thanks, mom. We'll be in the dining room.” (Y/N)'s light touch on his forearm is enough to make him shot her a glance, almost too desperate, something in him wanting to ask her why she did such a thing. Billy curses himself as he follows her to the dining room for feeling so stupid. It's just a freaking touch. On his freaking arm. And she wasn't even giving it much thought.
As Billy settles down on the table, (Y/N) moves the centerpiece to the edge so they'll have more space. “Do you want anything? Water? Or some chips? I happen to have some.”
Her voice sends Billy into some kind of stupor. A guy like him shouldn't feel this way. (Y/N) is just a girl, and he had many. But none of them ever made him feel like this. Like his heart is trying to jump off his chest. After a year, he did think he got over it. But he was wrong. Billy didn't want to be this close to (Y/N), always watching her from a safe distance. But this stupid school had to put them together, so damn close. Look at him now, seated on her dining table, staring at her like a complete idiot.
Just because she offered him water and freaking chips.
“Water is nice.” He mumbles, eyes on her back as she walks away, passing behind his chair. A sweet scent irradiates from her. Like flowers, he doesn't know which one though, like freaking sunshine.
Laughing at his stupidity, Billy looks down at his hands. How can someone smell like sunshine? It's illogical.
“Get it together, she's just a girl,” Billy says to himself, resting his back against the chair and taking his jacket off, laying on the chair next to him. Girls are nothing new to him. He had they all figured out, their ways, how to break them, how to please them, how to bend them to his will.
But not (Y/N).
A nice girl like her is immune to his tricks. And that's good because if she wasn't, it would mean she could also fall on someone's traps. Like Tommy, or Jimmy, or Jackson. The very thought of those assholes with her, touching, caressing, kissing... It disgusts him, and he's quick to push such images away.
“Did you say something?” (Y/N) asks, coming back from the kitchen and handing him a glass with cold water. Once she's close enough, he takes a deep breath, and her sweet scent almost drives him mad.
She's not a girl for you, get it together. “No.” He mumbles, taking long sips before putting the glass down. “So what now?” He sounds a little rude, so he immediately clears his throat after, eyes on (Y/N) as she takes a seat next to him on the round table instead of across from him. Billy finds it odd, but he's thankful for the proximity. This way, he can be surrounded by her candy-like scent, trying to memorize it so he could play it back later. When he's into the nightmare he calls home.

You're just about to start, History books already on the table, since you'll begin with the presentation, notebooks and papers so you can take notes, but then you look at Billy. There's a bruise on the apple of his cheek that you haven't noticed it before.
“Did you get into a fight?” You ask, leaning slightly forward to take a better look.
“What?” There's a moment of confusion on his face before it changes. “Yeah.”
“Did you win?”
“In a way.” It doesn't look like he'll say anything else.
“Well, if someone punches you, make sure to beat them up.” Smiling a little, you take the History book, opening it on chapter 7. “What exactly do you know about–”
“Are you still dating Steve?”
Tumblr media
The question takes you by surprise, making you nervously giggle. “Why are you asking me that?”
“Just curious.” He shrugs his shoulders, tilting his head to the side. “Saw you two talking earlier today and he wouldn't be happy to know we'll be around each other a lot.”
“Steve is my friend. We dated last year but only for two months.” Avoiding Billy's eyes, you go through the book, not really paying attention to anything. You can feel his stare, and for some reason, your cheeks start heating up.
“Who broke up with who?”
Chuckling, you turn your body towards him. “Why do you want to know, Billy?” Maybe he's just trying to procrastinate. “Because if you're just trying to delay things I–”
“No, I really want to know.” He leans forward, pulling the book closer to him. “You and Harrington don't fit together, so I was surprised to see you hanging out with him last year.”
“Steve and I got pretty close when he dropped the jerk act. And we were both single so we decided to give it a try.” The only reason you're telling Billy this is because it's not a secret. Some people know and they probably didn't put any effort into keeping it hidden. “But it didn't click. We were dating but it wasn't really romantic, so...” You smile to remember it, and the memory that comes back is definitely a secret. Nancy is the only one who knows, her and Steve, obviously. But you guess it's ok to tell Billy, it's quite funny. And silly. “We... We never really kissed, you know?”
“What?” His voice startles you, and the genuine confusion on his face only makes you laugh. “You're joking.”
“I'm not, and if this gets out, I'll know it was you.” With a finger pointing at his face, you fake a threatening face. “So keep it between us or else.”
Pinching his eyebrows together, Billy seems amused. “Or else what?” His voice gets lower, as he leans closer.
“Or else I'll have no choice but to make out with Steve in front of the whole school.” In a sassy tone, you smile, biting your tongue not to laugh at his expression. Billy is... Impressed? Surprised, maybe. Something tells you he wasn't expecting this answer.
“Ew. Please don't.”
“Then don't tell anyone.” Shrugging your shoulders, you pull your feet up, crossing your legs on the chair. “Now, C'mon. World War I.”
“One more question and we get to it.” As he speaks, you feel him pulling your hand away from the notebook, forcing you to give him attention. “Why in the hell didn't you and Steve–”
“We kissed. I mean, those quick kisses, you know. Like when you say hi or goodbye. Just a peck in the lips. But that was it.”
“That was it?”
“That was it.” Giggling again, you assure him. Why is it so important to him anyway? “Now, can we start?”
You watch as Billy's eyes remain on you, burning, lingering. After a while, his lips break into a smile and he looks down at the book, shaking his head lightly. “Let's start.”

the collected poems of todd anderson
christmas day of 1959.
ao3 link here
He knew this day would come. He’s been dreading it, sure, he’d never really enjoyed Christmas much beforehand, his multiple unopened desk sets epitomised such. At his house, fires weren’t warm, hugs were stiff and silence was punctured by the sounds of laughing children in the house next door. It’d always been this way for the Anderson family. Todd grew to accept it.
But this year was supposed to be different.
He was supposed to spend his Christmas at Welton, with all the Dead Poets.
Usually, the boys would go home to their families for Christmas, but through the efforts of Neil he assembled a complex string of falsities about a gargantuan Latin group project that all the Dead Poets needed to finish.
“Serious business, I care about my education father, why else would have you sent me here?” said Neil over the phone, holding his index finger to his mouth to silence Todd from his chuckling, although all Todd really saw was the wide grin that hid behind it, and the way Neil’s eyes crinkled up all the way, a complete oxymoronic action when Neil was usually on the phone to his father. Todd stifles back laughter and Neil smacks him lightly, only causing him to laugh more.
“Well, that was quicker AND easier than I expected...” Neil states after placing the phone back on it’s cradle and ending the call. “But hey!” Neil squeaks, “We’re all spending Christmas together! The biggest concern was just getting my father to agree, everyone else’s parents seemed fine with it.”
Todd and Neil start to walk, side by side, Neil bumps him playfully. “I’m so glad you told me, Todd.” Neil turns his head and looks towards the shorter boy. “My Christmases at home aren’t that great either, I’ve always wanted to spend them here, but I could never work up the courage to ask my father, ask Charlie, in our first year he almost called up my father himself. It was hilarious, he had to look up at the phone, he was so short.”
“You and Charlie have been friends for ages then?” Todd queries “Oh yeah, we met in our last year of preparatory school, he was a pretty mischievous kid, obviously not much has changed.” Neil laughs, “he was just always so confident and sure of himself… I always wanted to be like that, nothing ever got to him.”
“Has that changed?” Todd’s questions were always short and straight to the point. Startling upfrontness in the most unexpected of moments. It was something Todd was known for.
“Not really… I mean, I try to get him to open up… he just isn’t an emotions type of person, I think?” Neil scratches the back of his head. “During our 9th year he went through something really big and not great, but he didn’t tell me a single word about it. To this day I have no idea wahat happened. I tried asking but it didn’t lead anywhere… all I know is some kid had been expelled but it didn’t look like him and Charlie fought or anything because they spent so much time together ....” Neil trails off.
“You know people stare at us sometimes.” Todd blankly states, an unconscious switch being flicked immediately. “When we’re walking to classes, when we go into our dorm, when we exchange smiles in classes… They bump their friends with their shoulders and snicker under their breaths… Have you noticed that Neil?”
Neil’s walking pace slows slightly, “Uh… no, I-uh I didn’t… Do they think we’re-“ “-Maybe.” Todd interrupts before Neil can say The Word. “Bu-but we aren’t, I mean, you were talking about that girl from-“ “-Yeah! Ginny, from the play, wow, I mean, she’s just great.” “Yeah, I’m sure she is.”
God.
This got awkward.
Nice one Todd.
Did it again.
~~
Ink splatters dried on the paper he cradled so delicately, he stares at the contents once more.
“what wouldn't i give to love myself as feverishly as I love you? what is the opposite of amnesia? that is what you are. sometimes i cant find my way around my memories. i have to take detours… i think you were the best one.
little fragments of joy pepper my vacancy i didn't know that i should want to be hopeful or that being hopeful meant giving up some intrinsic part of me.
last night i had a dream that we were breathing underwater flying high in the sky, arms outstretched, laughing, smiling, hugging, bodies pressed onto one another. it didn’t last long. piece by wretched, fragile piece i throw out every hated qualm of thee your impenetrable stare fixed onto me
i have hoped for love that is beyond you being caught by me or me trying to slip through the cracks. they read me, you, us, with their glacial eyes and think they know but they don't
and it seems neither do we.”
“Wow, Todd. This is so… different. But good! It’s just, I’ve never seen anything like this in our English class, in the poems we’ve studied… I just… wow.” Neil looks up at Todd, eyes so soft, Neil knows how big of a deal this is to Todd. He doesn’t just share his work with anyone.
“I-I’m glad you liked it.” Todd smiles, it’s almost as if he’s had to completely remove himself from himself in order to let Neil observe and compliment this part of him, he takes the page out of Neil’s hands and places it in his book. “What-er, who was it about?” Neil gingerly queries. “I- uh, well.” Todd’s heating up now, he should’ve expected Neil to ask him this question. Dammit. Why was he so stupid for letting him read it. “Well, I-I don’t think you necessarily have to go through something to write a-about it, it-it’s fiction for a reason.”
Neil’s lips downturn slightly, “I guess, but everything that we produce in art- whether that be acting, or poetry writing, painting- whatever… it… subconsciously shows something that you might not necessarily want to show or see, right? Like how Keating got us the other day to choose a poem we liked and recite it… It tells you so much about a person. When Charlie was reading his poem… wasn't all you could think about was how bleak it was?” Neil continues, “The academically and poetically rigorous selection made by Cameron or Knox’s complete devotion and enamoration with the simplest emotion of the human being, love? We hide these parts of ourselves, maybe we view them as flaws and faults of our cognitive machine, but art reveals them all.” Neil delivered a love poem to the class himself. He takes a big breath and lets the words he just spoke sit in the air of their dorm for a while.
“Into the meadows dawn..” Todd clicks his fingers, a vague ritual to jog his memory. “flashes my faun.” Todd recites “O Hunter, snare me his shadow… O Nightingale catch me his strain. Else moonstruck with music and madness, I track him in vain” all they’re doing is staring at each other.
“You- you remembered my poem?” Neil questions. “Yeah- I went to the library after you said it- wanted to see if there was more… Oscar Wilde…” “Yeah.” “I notice them staring now that you mentioned it.” Neil breaks the trajectory of the conversation, “God, they’re all so stupid, it’s as if Judy Garland and President Eisenhower just strutted into the school, arms interlocked!” Todd chuckles. Then more silence.
“Has anything changed, Neil?” “What do you mean?” “Between us. What this is. Our comradely bond, as Keating puts it.” Todd chuckles, “ Our co-dependence, attachment at the hip.”
More silence…
“I-I think…” Neil finally states, “that it was never anything it wasn’t already… perhaps we ignored it, suppressed the feeling… but… it was always there.”
“For me, at least.”
“Yeah. Me too.”
~~~
The wind pierced Todd’s skin in tiny microscopic ways, embedding itself under the protection of his coat and completely evading the rest of his physical form, though perhaps the wind wasn’t the cause of the spine-curdling ache he felt, but simply an additional symptom.
Bells rang, green and red Christmas themed paraphernalia adorned the streets he’d previously been driving through, staring out the window at lights and snow that trickled onto an already naturally bleached layer of the ground. His footprints leave indents and obtain a slippery consistency to the outer sole and toe cap. He treads more carefully.
His hands clutch the leather cover of the journal he is hiding underneath his jacket, minimising any further damage that may soon come its way, finally, through minutes of soul-searching and carefully treading through stones and flowers, he makes his way to Neil.
He looks at him with a certain sense of fragility, his stone head protruding from the ground and covered in snow. Todd wipes some away to see the carvings made into him. His full name. Aged 17. Dutiful son of Tom and Susan Perry.
The newness of it all sends a pang to Todd’s stomach as he looks at the other stones weathered with age and the constant bombardment of the elements. That’ll be Neil one day. Flowers not fresh and carvings unreadable. Forgotten to the world and all its inhabitants, rotting in satin lining and cherry oak wood. Todd stifles back a sob and covers his mouth, forcing himself to get it together for just this moment.
“Merry Christmas Neil.” Todd whispers, the words can barely come out. “You-you’re not here physically but you’re here with me, and Charlie, and-and all the other Dead Poets.” he continues, “though- though Charlie isn’t here technically either. He left. Had to. He’s not graduating, at least he’s not at Welton” Todd looks down, brushes his emerging tears away with his shoulder
“I just wanted to come here and give you your gift, I’ve had it in the making for a while now, you’ve seen some of it already. I wish I could’ve given it to you earlier… if I had known this would happen.” he pulls out the journal, and opens it up.
“Here, I’ll read you some.” Todd, though already cold and miserable, situates himself next to Neil’s cold headstone and leans his head on it, opening the journal's contents to its first page.
“Dear Neil,” Todd’s starts, but adds an offside, “It’s dated on the 7th of a while back, my-my birthday.”
“I hope this book finds you well,” Todd’s breath hitches, “especially considering that I’m probably too anxious to deliver it to you. What you’ll see here is what we spoke about the night we first kissed. About freeing ourselves from any subconscious fear or dichotomous dread of both working with and against the grain or being liked or disliked. The people I look up to the most are inspirationally unpopular. So, here’s a suite of poems by yours truly. Hopefully you’ll find your own meaning and reverence in the words my brain has conjured up, words mostly pertaining to you. Every inch of your being alive has me transfixed and enamoured, and I’m truly gobsmacked on the good deed I must’ve committed to have deserved having you in my life.” Todd’s face is red and stuffy from the cold and his breathing is short and punctured.
“You’re sleeping right near me at this moment, and as a sweaty toothed madman once said. We were together. I forgot the rest. Consider this journal a detachable limb of my own self, something you can always carry around and know that I am with you, always. You can suck the life force, the bone marrow out of the words I have written in here and I would applaud and encourage you to do so. Without you, I have no idea where I’d be right now. I owe you so much Neil, you’ve taught me that sometimes the world can be good. That a person’s smile can brighten an entire room. A performance perfectly acted can be a person’s ultimate achievement and their triumph. You are the word phenomenal incarnate Neil, I hope my words do you some sort of justice.
You deserve the world, Neil. I’m brainstorming ways to give it to you.
With love, Todd.”
