Current Activities in Warframe #10
Despite being something of a veteran, I find myself overwhelmed. One of my new goals is to acquire a non-shit weapon for my Drifter. By story default you just get this shitty slow, single shot pistol. It does the job but it's weak and slow. But in order to get what I want I actually need to go back and deal with reputation on Cetus. As well as with Little Duck, whatever her subfaction is called. Little Duck isn't too bad, because you can just kind of spam Profit Taker and you'll get a few of those required orbs for ranking up. Just continues to be time gated. Cetus rep is significantly more annoying, as you need to hunt Eidolons which I never really do. I need to find groups dedicated to it, I think. Beyond that, I'm pretty much locked into MR23 for a while without heavy time investment in some relic breaking to grab some of those primes that are slipping through my fingers because I keep lacking a single piece or two from a set. I probably have a whole mastery point sitting and waiting in my foundry because of all the pieces I'm missing.
Then there's steel path, which I'm not really built to survive unless I'm on Wisp. Very few of my 'good' mods are maxed out so I'm not running with the best shields, health, or even Adaptation. I can run the dailies and survive well enough, to a point. On Wisp, if I stay in the air. Titania also does well until her energy runs out then she dies instantly. My weapons tend to do just fine on SP, it's really a surviveability issue.
I'm just kind of running into a wall again. As I said in a previous post, Warframe progress is more of a slow, sideways venture. Still, I like getting loot and fashion and both things are in short supply at my current stage. There's things I want but they're far too annoying to get. I don't understand how people got Kullervo so fast, all the Duviri I've done and he's only shown up once as an objective.
Either way I might soon be pacing myself better. Log in for a couple hours, try to do some bullshit rep stuff, then go cooldown with another game.

Finally pulled off the amp bandaid and got both a 177 and 777. I think I got enough toroids to last me a hot-ass minute. Feel stupid that I never realized the corelation between certain areas in Orb Vallis and the toroids they drop. That being said I wished more people in pub profit taker would remember to shoot the fucking legs
No more sitting on my ass for endgame progression, on to even better things!

I love how exploiter orb is a pushover and Profit-Taker is an unkillable god.

i really, really hope DE goes back one day and ties up the various loose ends that were left behind in fortuna because there is SO much Stuff there that we just never got closure on
some of it i sort of understand--like i get that garuda and baruuk were released in a period where DE realized that making a full quest for every frame was too time-consuming, but we also didn't have leverians yet, so they just ended up getting zero lore/background... but DE also stated on multiple occasions that garuda specifically was going to get lore in some form, and it just never ended up happening. and she and baruuk still don't have leverians, and they didn't even get prime trailers. f
i was doing profit-taker runs earlier which reminded me of that entire subplot they had going on with little duck being roped into the quills' mess, and that one operative that helps you get the plans to take the profit-taker down or whatever but then lets themself get killed, and how strange and ominous it was that they'd do that because "quills never make mistakes and there's always an agenda"... and that entire thing was never touched on again, either
and on top of THAT there's the ENTIRE THIRD ORB MOTHER just sitting in that one lake still, whose real purpose at this point is probably never going to see the light of day because DE rarely ever goes back to old content... it's kind of disappointing. fortuna got a pretty sizeable chunk in terms of story and character-centric content that i love to bits, but it still somehow feels like it got the short end of the stick here compared to the other open worlds because of how much more they clearly planned on adding that may never come to fruition now

Warframe: Blowtorch me off the thing I froze to
Pairing: Little Duck x enby Drifter
Warnings: a little bit of embarrassment, weird anatomy
Tumblr media
So, one of my partners is really into LD. And there’s that line during the third or second (I don’t remember) profit taker mission, when LD is complaining about the cold ... Yeah, that gave me stupid ideas.
The mission had taken long. The Drifter was still getting used to the whole Warframe thing. It started to feel natural, like the big suit made from infested flesh was an extended piece of their body not different from an arm or a leg, but still, finding their way through the Orb Vallis had taken some time.
When they transfered out of the bulky form of Frost in front of Little Duck, they smiled. “Not frozen yet, I hope.”
“Gotta say you took your sweet time, hotshot.” Little Duck‘s face window remained shut against the cold and gave her voice a metallic ring. “Let‘s go back inside.”
She pushed off the side of the elevator building she was leaning against – or at least she tried to. Her legs performed the movement, but her upper body didn‘t budge. For a moment there was silence. “Bleeidn‘ muck!”, she said finally.
“Don‘t tell me you actually froze to something.” The Drifter stepped closer. LD‘s shoulders were real flesh, but the back of her torso was probably metal - or clad in metal? - just like the front. So it freezing to the building probably was an actual possibility.
LD tried to push off the building again, this time using her hands too. Nothing happened. Finally her face window opened and the Drifter could see her frown. “I’m never gonna joke about that ever again.”
“Should I go and get some … warm water?” The Drifter offered. They weren’t sure where to get that from. All the liquid in the Orb Vallis was either coolant or in solid form, also known as snow and ice.
“No!” LD’s reply came a little bit too fast. “Do not go back to Fortuna”, she added. “Eudico and Bizz will never let me forget this.”
“Okay, fair.” The Drifter leaned against the wall next to LD, tried to peer past her shoulders to see what was actually frozen. “I could tried an just pull”, they said. “Warframes are strong.”
LD made a sound that conveyed negative enthusiasm about that idea. “Apropos Warframe, can’t you do some Tenno magic?”
The Drifter stepped back from the wall so they could look into LD’s face again. “I brought Frost.”
“Frost.” LD said in a completely flat voice.
“Yes.” The Drifter felt like they needed to explain. “His powers are what the name suggests.”
LD cursed. It took a while. Then she took a deep breath. “Okay, let’s see.” Her gaze turned inwards. “This shouldn’t have happened in the first place, it certainly hasn’t happened before. I bet there’s something wrong with my internal heating.”
The Drifter wasn’t sure how the Solaris really worked. Apparently most parts apart from the head could be replaced by metal and they didn’t like wearing any warm clothes even though they worked in a really cold invironment, so internal heating made sense to keep the still fleshy parts warm.
LD seemed to be running some kind of internal diagnosis, her eyes flitted back and forth. “There we go”, she said finally. “Just gotta jumpstart this again then …” She paused, her brows furrowing some more. “Well, ain’t that funny.” Her voice suggested, whatever it was, it wasn’t funny at all.
“What is it?” The Drifter started getting a little bit cold too. They could of course always transfer back into their Warframe, but while LD was struggling that seemed a bit rude.
“Looks like one heating unit decided to give out on me. And to restart that bleedin’ thing, it needs a higher temperature. One that’s not mucking cold.”
“If body temperature is good enough, just give it to me”, the Drifter offered. “I can warm it up.”
“Well, ain’t that sweet. There’s just one problem, though.”
The Drifter tilted their head in question.
LD ran her tongue over her upper lip in thought, reminding the Drifter suddenly of all the times they’d felt a pang of arousal when hearing her voice. And it wasn’t often that the Drifter got to see her a little bit unsure of herself, but now she looked exactly that, and it was maybe, well, definitely a bit sexy. “Y’see, it ain’t exactly like I can just take those things out. And they’re in a somewhat delicate place.”
The Drifter swallowed. But well, it wasn’t like they weren’t willing to rise to that challenge. “I’m okay with whatever you’re okay with”, they said. And maybe they sounded just a tiny bit hoarse.
The smile that appared on LD’s face now was definitely flirty. “Is that so, hotshot? Well, in that case I hope you’ve always wanted a chance to put your hand down my pants.”
“Well …”
For a moment the Drifter was lost for words, and it wasn’t fair that LD started to grin at that. “Well, isn’t that interesting. I hope you’re not disappointed it’s just the inside of my thighs.”
“Not at -” The drifter cleared their throat and tried again. “Not at all. I really didn’t have any hopes. I’m sorry, if I -”
There was that grin again. “No worries. And more doin’, less talkin’. Now get to work, will ya?”
LDs pants were secured by a belt and she helped opening the clasp. It was the limit of how far her hands could reach with the head container in the way and her torso upright.
When that was done, the Drifter left their hand resting at the hem of the pants and shot LD a questioning look. This was literally new territory and they didn’t want to overstep even a little bit.
“Look”, LD said, “you can take me to a really nice restaurant later, if that makes you feel better about the situation.”
Was that an invitation to a date? The Drifter’s heartbeat sped up, and it wasn’t just the fact that they slowly slid their hand down LD’s pants.
They did their best to avoid the really delicate bits while also not pulling the pants down any further, because LD was cold enough already. Slowly, the Drifter’s finger tips made their way down LD’s leg.
“Yeah”, LD was looking the Drifter straight into the eyes smiling. Was she enjoying this? “Now move your hand more between the legs. Yeah, like that.”
Suddenly, there was metal underneath the Drifter’s fingertips, several small plates of it, seamlessly attached to the skin. Most of them gave off some warmth, but then the Drifter fond one that was cold.
LD’s head fell back a little. “Mhm … hit just the spot.”
The Drifter couldn’t help but laugh. “You have no shame, do you?”
“Life’s way too short for shame, hotshot.” One of her hands came up to the Drifter’s cheek, her fingertip trailing over their skin and coming to rest underneath their chin. “You okay with this?”
Well, no use in lying. “Yeah”, the Drifter breathed.
“Nice.” LD grinned again. “Y’know, rubbin’ it a little would make it warm up faster.”
The Drifter swallowed, heat pooling in their lower belly. But who would say no to an invitation like that? They started to move their fingers, running small circles over the cold little metal plate.
“Oh, someone’s really good with their fingers.” Now LD sounded a little bit breathy too.
“I’m starting to think you might have to take me to dinner afterwards,” the Drifter said. Their circles got just a little bit weider, touching smooth skin now and then. LD didn’t complain.
“With pleasure.” LD was grinning again. “But I have a nice bunk in Fortuna too.”
“That sounds like the wrong way around”, the Drifter teased.
“Hate to break it to you, but you have your hand down my pants already.” LD half closed her eyes. “Ah, there we go.”
Slowly, the small metal plate grew warm underneath the Drifter’s fingers. “Did it work?” They slowed down a little, but not stopping completely.
“Mhm.” LD moved their shoulders a little, and the Drifter could feel the muscles in her legs strain. Too distracted by the sensation, they almost didn’t notice when ice cracked faintly.
Then LDs finger was underneath their chin again. “You know, hotshot, if you want to keep your hand in my pants, you should kiss me, too.”
“Is that an invitation?”
“You bet it is.”

I want you to think really hard about how many warframes there are and how many are lost to time. They all were people. Felt their sanity slip, slowly forgetting loved ones; in and out of consciousness until there's just enough above nothing to know what's happening but be powerless to stop it.
Think about life as not an orokin in the origin system. Kuva has been used to transfer souls of Ostrons into ragged flesh puppets as a "prank". The grineer were a slave race cloned for construction and agriculture.
If you commit a crime, there's a chance you don't die and are instead immortalised into an AI for orokin use. That's what happened to ordis. That's what happened to the gameshow host for the index. That is a Cephalon.
Also Rell is a harrowing case, an autistic child shunned by the Lotus left in the void to fend for himself, singlehandedly holding back the unfettered malice of eternity given form. And the second he can rest, he dies, his only solace being found in a stim toy his mother gave him.
Now, Venus is a hellscape for a different reason, if you want to know, go to ticker and read through the debt bonds. If you want to understand their fear, realise what would happen if the exploiter orb made it to fortuna, the consequences of making a mistake in the Profit Taker Orb heist. They would die immediately with no way out. The corpus wouldn't bat an eye because it is one of thousands of debt colonies.
Speaking of the Corpus, let's remember what Alad V did to Valkyr. He also has said no amount of credits is worth as much as a debt from a Tenno, and the fact that rhino Prime's Description depicts him turning someone into red dust in seconds makes it make sense.

I swear I don’t just shit post; here’s an update on some of the stuff I actually get up to in Warframe.
The Exploiter fight is fucking AWESOME, first off. @cephalon-celaeno, @cephalonseginus and I went to investigate the door that the fragments lead you to, and when we discovered that the boss fight could be triggered inside... we all kinda collectively glanced around at each other like fuck yeah we’re gonna do this, so without any planning or research whatsoever, we went and fucked up the Exploiter Orb’s day.
Then we thought, oh, maybe it’s time to go after the Profit Taker! after the final member of the A-Team reached max rank with Solaris United. To our surprise and delight, this week’s hardcore wolf challenges includes ‘Defeat the Profit Taker With Friends’, so we obviously decided to attempt it. And, as is our tradition, we decided to do our first attempt blind. That... went about as well as you might expect. Turns out the Exploiter is a pushover compared to her big sister the Profit Taker. So... guess it’s back to the drawing board.
Anyway, we’ll figure it out! Those Orbs will tremble before the A-Team, just you wait...

I'm not good at writing zingers, but I did find the thought of an Orb with a big hat too funny.
