“You’re seriously wearing that?” Dongpyo said.

“What? Don’t I look cute?” Mya held the phone up the mirror so he could see.

“You look fine. Skirt’s a bit short but….seriously? That’s what you’re wearing on a rap show?”

“It’s a show about showing everyone’s skills in a diverse range of styles.”

“Yah,” He snorted, prompting her to hold up the phone so he could see her face. “Are you just reading the slogan for the show?”

“Maybe.” She winked. “But I like this outfit. It represents how I got my start. Plus, people might underestimate me.”

“You’re not actually competing.” He reminded her. “But sure, where the sexy school uniform if you want to.”

She hung up on him.

Despite all of his teasing, he had agreed that wearing her uniform from Produce X 101 during her appearance on Good Girl was a good idea. It would stand out, it would be memorable, and while it did kind of play to her older, more innocent image, the fact that the shirt now showed an inch of her stomach and her skirt was a little bit shorter than it had been when she first got it also helped show off that she’d grown up since then.

Besides, as Dongpyo had said, she wasn’t actually competing on the show, she was just a guest judge. They’d asked if she would do a performance, and she wasn’t going to turn that down. Everglow were all waiting out in the crowd, as they were also judging with her, but she’d been the only one they asked to perform. To be honest, she’d felt a little bit weird about it, but the girls had assured her that it was a chance to show her skills, while also promoting the group.

She’d prepared a very short rap performance, only a minute total, complete with a very rudimentary choreography. It wasn’t perfect, but she was excited to show her skills in front of many artists that she looked up to.

“I heard that I’d find you in here.” A voice said from the doorway.

Mya spun, bowing deeply when she saw who was standing there. “Cheetah, sunbae! I didn’t see you there.”

“I just got here.” Cheetah smiled. “Getting ready for your performance?”

“Yeah.” Mya nodded. “It’s short, but I hope it’ll be good.”

“If you’re half as good as you were when I met you, you’ll be fine.” Cheetah looked her up and down. “It doesn’t look like much time has passed.”

“Ah, well….” Mya twisted one of her pigtails. “I wanted to do something to show my skills along with the image of me when I got my start.”

“I wasn’t criticizing it.” Cheetah promised. “You’ve just grown up a lot, and it’s kind of funny to see you still wearing your Produce uniform. I’m  surprised you kept it, after everything that happened.”

“Oh.” Mya looked down. “Well….they made it special for me, because I was the only girl. And even though I love Everglow so much, I did get my start with X1.”

“With your boys.” Cheetah laughed. “Sucks how that went down. You kids deserved better. But I’m glad that you’re killing it now.”

“I’m trying my best.” Mya bowed again.

“You guys must be due for a comeback soon, right? You debuted with Everglow in what, February?”

“Ah, yes.” Mya nodded. “Um, we’re working on one for the fall. A mini album.”

“Did you work on it at all?”

“I…actually I…” Mya mumbled as she spoke. “Wrote the title track.”

Cheetah’s eyes widened. “You wrote it?”

“Produced, composed, lyrics.” Mya nodded. “Uh, Jiwon – I mean E:U helped with the lyrics as well. I have some producing credits on the rest of the album but I really tried to focus my energy on the-“

“Title track.” Cheetah finished, before snorting. “Unbelievable.”

“Sunbae?” Mya tilted her head. She wasn’t sure what part of what she had said would have offended the rapper, but she really didn’t want someone she looked up to so much to be mad at her.

“It’s just unbelievable. Less than a year since I first met you and you’re already at this level.”

“I…the song might not be good.” Mya offered, still unsure of what direction the conversation was heading in.

“It’ll be good.” Cheetah nodded. “I…you know what, you should probably focus on your performance.”

“No! It’s okay.” Mya exclaimed. “Uh…did you want to tell me something?”

“I just wanted to let you know that I’m working on a new album.” Cheetah began.

“That’s awesome!” Mya exclaimed. “I have My Number on my playlist right now because it’s just so-“

“And, if you’re up for it…I’d like to talk to you about figuring out a collab.”

Mya blinked. “What?”

“In a song. I’d like to work with you.”

“But I’m…but you’re….you’re a rapper, and I’m a rapper….and you haven’t even seen me perform yet and I-“

“Mya. Oh wait – Enya.” Cheetah grinned. “I’d really like to work with you. I said it when I met you and I’m still saying it now: you have a lot of potential. And I’d really like to be a part of it.”

Mya blinked once.

And then again.

And then she started jumping up and down. “Yes, yes, yes! Thank you so much! It would be an honour and a-“

“Calm down.” Cheetah laughed. “You’ve got a performance and a comeback to focus on. But I’ll give you a call, okay?”

“Okay.” Mya bowed deeply, flipping her pigtails forward onto the ground. “I can’t wait!”

“Alright then.” Cheetah turned to leave. “Impress me out there.”

“I will!” Mya promised, waving as she left the room.

The second she was gone, she turned back to the mirror and took a deep breath.

“Okay, Mya, you can do this.” She gave herself encouragement.

And then she rolled her skirt up another inch.

She likes to consider herself as a second leader because she is very particular about things and a perfectionist which sometimes annoys her members. *redacted*  just lets her pipe up because he knows how persistent she is when it comes to things and he does appreciate help on occasion.

Her and member *redacted* did not get along well at first. They often butted heads as trainees because of how bossy Nara could be and how stubborn *redacted* is. When they originally found out they’d be in a group together, things were a bit iffy at first and while they still occasionally have their tiffs, they’ve ironed things out and get along well.

Learned Japanese from her step-mother growing up. She thinks of her as her real mother, and has always been treated as if she were her biological daughter. Nara doesn’t remember much about her bio Mom, unfortunately.

She took part in produce 101 but didn’t make it very far due to attitude problems, which got her eliminated rather quickly despite her talents. She was 16 at the time and a trainee at BigHit.

Auditioned for KQ Entertainment herself after terminating her contract at BigHit and was accepted after 2 rounds of auditions.

Her family is fairly wealthy and her Father definitely spoiled her growing up being that she had been his only daughter for so long (until Sarang was born, of course). Essentially Daddy’s little princess.

Brief bio of an artist: Surgeles (Kole Leijen) is a true musician with a lot of energy. He started digging into his parent’s records collection at the age of five and at the young age of eight his sister introduced him to house music. Soon after that, young Surgeles got his first set of turntables as a present for his birthday and started visiting regularly his local record dealer. While after a couple of years he started producing his own dark, deep and swerving techno. In 2005, while attending a Jeff Mills’s show, Surgeles managed to give a demo CD to The Wizard. The very next day Surgeles received a personal mail from Jeff Mills claiming that his music sounded great and that it inspired him to let Surgeles make a mix for his Purpose Maker Label. Two weeks later Surgeles’ mix was on Jeffs Mills’ Axis Records’ website for the 10th anniversary of the all-time Techno anthem "The Bells" . Later that year, during the Amsterdam Dance Event, Surgeles won a competition hosted by Dave Clarke for the best produced track and was than picked to play on Dave Clarke’s White Noise radio show on 3FM Radio. Around 2007 Kole started throwing his own parties called ‘Civilized?” at the legendary Escape club in Amsterdam. While 2009 marked the beginning of his career as record-label boss, as he launched his brainchild: ‘Underground Freedom Fighters (UFF) Records’. Ever since, the collaborations with Jeff Mills kept on flowing and Surgeles' consecration came when Jeff asked him to make a compilation for his label, ‘Something In The Sky’. In 2017 Jeff entrusted DJ Surgeles to take care of “the Betty Hill Case”, a 12” inspired by the story and the interviews of an American couple, who were allegedly abducted by extraterrestrials in a rural portion of New Hampshire in 1961.
