I just finished Prodigal Son, and it was really good, but, devestating cliffhanger ending (and show cancellation) aside can I just say that Michael Sheen had absolutely NO right being THAT attractive as a serial killer.

Like seriously look at this man-

Absolutely disrespectful for him to look this good after having killed 23 people.

Like for real. I know we all though Dr. Capshaw was absurdly dumb for romancing this man, but like...look at him 😂

But in all seriousness Michael absolutely killed being Martin. I was already super impressed with him from Good Omens, but this really showed just how versatile he is. Absolutely love him. So disappointed that the show got cancelled.

Malcolm Bright spent years blaming himself for not discovering his father's actions.

He had night terrors and hallucinations because of the horror of what his father had done.

Malcolm obsessed over the Girl in the Box even when everyone insisted he was only hallucinating because he felt like he failed her.

He let Sophie Sanders go even at his own disadvantage.

He sympathizes with the people he tracks down and is able to help talk them down because his whole job is to understand them.

He's upset when these people are killed because he doesn't want to cause them pain, he wants to understand how they became what they were.

He dedicates his whole waking life to understanding how people are formed so he can do better.

Malcolm Bright is not Martin Whitly. His making a mistake trying to defend his sister does not make him Martin. His acting in self defense does not make him Martin.

He is not his abuser. He is not Martin.

I love how Epic is a story about how sometimes, you change in ways you can't undo. Sometimes it's a choice, and sometimes it's something that happens to you; often, it's both. And in some ways, you may be made worse. You may make mistakes. You may become someone you don't recognize, and you may not like who you now see in the mirror. You might lose your old self in the process of surviving.

But when you do, the people who love you will still be there. Not because of who you used to be, or how you might heal or become better, or out of ignorance of who you now are. Just because they love you, and you do not need to be perfect to be loved. You just need to be there.

And they'll be waiting for you.

I really like the similarities between SAINW and Prodigal Son.

The lair destroyed. The brothers separated. Increased Foot presence. Karai's blind loyalty. Hunt for the fourth turtle. Even April and Angel!

I think, ultimately, Prodigal Son tries to answer the question, did SAINW only happen because Don went missing, or could any of their disappearances have led to the same or a similar outcome? And yeah, if Leo was gone longer, some version of SAINW could very well have happened in this dimension.
