– MISCELLANEOUS–

Dipuen is the only place where the material, loronvesta, can be found. It is a material which is similar to leather in weight and texture, but its durability and protection can be comparable to steel. 

Due to there being two moons, it is rare for there to be land-animals to be near the ocean, due to the large waves. Major cities and some other large settlements are protected by a dome if they are close to the sea.

Hello, I'm a new reader of your fics and found you through AO3, after reading your fic where Apollo n Poseidon are punished with mortality and King idk how to spell his name was talking about getting his daughter married made me wonder about how Greek Marriages and Courtships work/how they were performed and the actual marital rites ofc

Okay okay, so this requires a lot of know-how and I most definitely don't know everything so this is what I know:

Courtships differed from city-state to city-state. But overall I think they all shared one common factor - a courting gift. Courting gifts were used to basically show off a guy's status in the world, and the better the gift the better chance he had at winning the marriage.

This is actually exemplified in the myth of Cassandra and Apollo! Apollo's courting gift was the gift of prophecy, which Cassandra accepted, ergo confirming their courtship (their relationship was also considered to be a type of marriage btw! Cassandra would have been one of Apollo's 'wives', like the Pythia (essentially married to her job aka Apollo), Cyrene (was literally married to him; eloped with him), or the Muses (his immortal companions) even though they weren't like. married married. they weren't married like Zeus & Hera are, or Hades & Persephone. it was a symbolic one, or even an emotionally-bonded one.

So big gift = better chance at winning her hand. cool.

NOW I WOULD LIKE TO INTERRUPT OUR BROADCAST ON ANCIENT GREECE AND TURN OUR ATTENTION TO COURTSHIPS IN THE MYTHS :D

I've already discussed Apollo&Cassandra, but there are plenty more courtships going on.

Admetus & Alcestis, for one! Odysseus & Penelope! Admetus and Odysseus both had to complete a set task to be seen as "worthy" of marrying their respective wives.

For Admetus, it was yoking a bull and lion to a chariot and riding it into Alcestis's dad's kingdom (which he did with Apollo wingmanning him bless their souls) and for Odysseus, he completed various physical exercises (like a race) and won!

So I guess the overarching message about Greek courting/marriage rituals is the guy has to prove how much of a rich badass he is, and if he can't show off his wealth (like Odysseus), he's gotta make up for it with EXTRA badassness.

As for the marriage itself, it also depended on the region. And it's A Lot so I would recommend skimming this wikipedia article on it and then looking deeper into various other websites - just looked it up, and there are quite a few. I would nail down the main similarities between them as the Facts and the extra info as Potential Facts (my usual method of research - and if the info in corroborated in an informative source, then it is also Fact)

I also see you mentioned Proclia and Laomedon, and what he would have had to do for her marriage. I did find this website on Anatolian marriage customs (since they are in Anatolia and not Greece), but I don't know how reliable it is. If there's anybody out there who knows more, shoot it at me! :D

NAME: Eyn “Duiti” Skatra (7-YE-0013)

DESCRIPTION: The daughter of Mr Skatra who does most of the action-type work. Seems to keep running into April, somehow. Pretty secretive, mysterious, and claims to like "beating stuff up". That aside, she's... never mind, I said she's pretty secretive.

IMPORTANCE: Main

—LOOKS, IDENTIFICATION, ETC—

GENDER: Likes to present herself androgynously, typically more masculinely. If she feels close enough with someone, she’ll reveal herself as female. She doesn’t really care what pronouns you use on her, but she uses she/her on herself.

AGE: Depicted as a mid-teenager (16), although she’s been active for 4 and a half Imesian years. Altogether, she’s existed for 6 years.

HEIGHT: 180cm

RACE: Combat android, modified to help with mechanics n’ stuff

BASIC APPEARANCE: Eyn is tall and built with a rather athletic structure. She has no hair, and a face which is painted a different colour to the rest of her body. She’s got holes on her cheecks where her speakers would be. There are three bars that are wrapped vertically on top of her head.

Eyn wears an outfit heavily inspired by old Earthean western films. She wears an outback hat, a bandanna over where her mouth should be, a long coat and pants.

—HISTORY–

BIRTHDAY: Imesian year X761. If you really want to celebrate her birthday on Earth, it’s on the 20th of September

BACKSTORY:  !!!SPOILERS!!! (Yes, all of it) Eyn was built by Yvon Escombach to abduct Abren Skatra. She was the second version of a project that failed. She also failed to successfully perform that same task, as well, so she was left on the self for a some time (will depend on if I update the timeline lol)

Being the second version, Yvon really didn’t have as much sentimental value for Eyn as the first, so he decided to go on and sell her in the black markets. She was bought as a bodyguard by some guys, but she failed to do that, too. And so, she was sold again.

This time, Eyn was bought by these people who wanted to try bail their friend out of jail. She was caught by the cops, but before she was shut down by force, she managed to escape. Unfortunately, she gut stuck in some sewers for a while and hid there for some time (depends on the timeline...)

She decided to get out of the sewers but she just so happened to get out from an exit that just so happened to lead to a very desolate place in Niatheia city. She sat down for a while, still seriously bored. And then she got found by Abren (hooray!) She was really weirded out by Abren treating her like a human kid, as if she were one of his own, but she didn’t mind it.

And then, there came Abren’s discovery of Mini Proclia (AKA the big building) and the doubling machine. Once Abren’s mission to try grab that machine was made concrete, Eyn made sure she never failed in performing any tasks again. !!!END SPOILERS!!!

FAMILY: Eyn is Abren Skatra’s adoptive android daughter. In a way, Yvon Escombach would be considered her father, but she doesn’t like that. The versions of herself built before and after her would count as her siblings, although, she never really knew them.

Eyn calls herself Eyn Duiti because she’s a fan of the Axel Duiti series

NAME: Sarlife Aufel, better known to April as “Bilby-doc,” or to close friends as “Doc” (N-002-MED5395)

SHORT DESCRIPTION: A mysterious medical robot who has some sort of deal with April. Works closely with Wyra. A big scatterbrain and can come off as rude, but cares a lot deep down... And about too many things.

IMPORTANCE: Major

– LOOKS, IDENTIFICATION, ETC. –

GENDER: Sarlife doesn’t really identify as anything, really. In most cases, people use he/they on Sarlife, but they don’t really care. *NOTE: I hope I’m doing this right. If I’m not, please lemme know!*

AGE: Depicted as a mid-adult, although they’ve been active for 76 Imesian years. Altogether, they’ve existed for 77 years.

HEIGHT:  250cm (excluding “ears”)

RACE: A university project. Built as a service android  for healthcare and mechanics.

–BASIC APPEARANCE–

Salife is tall with a long body and a lanky posture. Their head is long and triangular, and they have long ear-like antennae that give the appearance of a bilby. Their hair is a dark bronze and their surface is painted grey. Their eyes are usually green due to their nearly constant usage of energy chips.

Sarlife dresses in a way that is typical to a doctor. They wear a long white coat with a cyan button-up shirt underneath, and dark pants. They also wear a red necktie and a head mirror.

–NATURE–

MOTIVATION:  !!!SPOILERS!!! After an incident with Eyn, Sarlife began to lose trust in any new faces, regardless of whether they’re new to the building or not. This is why Sarlife is hostile to April at first. Sarlife’s main goal is to drive away Eyn and Mr Skatra by creating an army of the strongest of creatures living the building.

Also, Sarlife is very protective of the secrecy of Mini Proclia (AKA the big building) and everything inside it, especially the doubilng machine. They are also aware of the interplanetary war that’s currently happening and doesn’t want anything related to the building to interfere with it. !!!END SPOILERS!!!

PERSONALITY: Lively, usually confident, emotional

GOOD TRAITS: Creative, sincere, persistent

BAD TRAITS: Easily distracted, self-deprecating, neurotic

LIKES: Doodling over logs, taking long walks around the building, building useless machines

DISLIKES: Seeing people get hurt, catching themselves slacking, small talk

–HISTORY–

BIRTHDAY: Imesian year X689. If you really want to celebrate their birthday on Earth, it’s on the 8th of June

BACKSTORY: (OUTDATED LOL) Before life in the home building, Sarlife once worked at a children’s hospital to both mend faulty machinery and tend to young children. After 30 years of activity, they were then replaced by a newer and more advanced model of theirs. Because of this, Sarlife was shut down and left to rest at the shed of old robotics. 

Less than a year later, a scavenger engineer found Sarlife and performed an experiment which gave Sarlife a super advanced learning AI that could almost replicate the thinking of an organic brain. This frightened the engineer, so they blew the shed up. None of the robots in the shed were destryed, including Sarlife, who was still awake. Sarlife decided to live on their own, hiding from the public eye.

About 43 years later, Sarlife was then found by Ida as the second robot to live with her in the home building. After months of the building's development, Sarlife decided to spend the rest of their days inside of the building, tending to patients and faulty machinery. They even picked up the hobby of doodling stupid comics.

!!!SPOILERS!!! Some time after Mr Skatra and Eyn’s arrival, and after some events, Eyn tried to force Sarlife into working under Mr Skatra, but Sarlife was lucky enough to escape when another doctor robot in the building rescued them and unfortunately took their place.  !!!END SPOILERS!!!

 FAMILY: Sarlife considers their model’s predecessors, and successors as part of their family. The other medical robots that work alongside them count, too. Sarlife also has a pet yogeia named Madchuo.

–MISCELLANEOUS–

Physical matters

Because Sarlife worked at a children’s hospital, the designers thought it would be fun to add long rabbit/bilby-like ears to their design. This was the same for all the other medical robots that worked with them at the time

Almost the entirety of Sarlife’s body has medical equipment stored inside of them.

Personal matters

Sarlife had made multiple engineering discoveries while developing their AI in the building. For example, they even invented effect chips. (there’s even a “feel-good” chip that exists, which can be comparable to some (currently) illegal drugs and alcohol)
