thank you, jen @det395​ !! i feel like this meme got away from me a bit, but no shame! i love talking about books and writing so onward ~under the cut~

1- how many books are too many books in a series? 

mhmmmmm i guess it depends on the objective of the series, right? is the plan to have x number of books in the series and if so, when we finally get to the end will it be satisfying considering all the books we’ve read leading up to it? OR is the objective of the premise / characters just to exist doing whatever? both can be done well. i would say a lot rides on how much i trust the author.

2- what do you think about cliffhangers?

so this is meant for cliffhangers in a series like between books? i don’t really care if there’s a cliffhanger as long as i have the next book sitting right next to me. otherwise uh, only if the wait between books is tolerable, because at that point you need to know that the author can clear this mess up, right? there’s this other thing, like you know how if the entire series was already written, then they might release the books a month apart or a quarter apart - that could be alright too. but years in between? not especially a fan. is anyone a fan?

3- hardback or paperback?

jen, you and me are complete opposites here. paperbacks stress me out. i will go out of my way to buy a used hardcover if given the choice. of course, there are some publications i don’t mind in paperback —thinking poetry and super indie books that don’t have a hardcover release OR books where the spines are thin enough they won’t break and i won’t be holding them long enough for them to wear. hardcovers are sturdy and i don’t have to worry i’ll accidentally bend the cover in some damaging way. I am invested in keeping my books nice to the point that i create covers for my books out of kraft paper or brown grocery bags while i am reading them. this is something i started when i was in college and didn’t want these books i was hoping to probably resell get thrashed coming in and out of my bag for all these classes. My home library is probs more half and half paperback/hardcover but if given a choice usually it’s hardcover.

4- least favourite book?

i think it’s good to at least attempt to meet a book on its level. there are lots of books i didn’t like, but i wasn’t meeting them on their level and i know that so we’re ignoring those. i do however have a shelf on my goodreads dedicated to books that i have beef with so i’ll just go off on two of them.....

tana french’s the likeness for being plagiaristic shit. it is essentially poorly concealed alternate universe OC insert fic of the secret history. you’ve got french’s dublin murder squad folks and then this group they are investigating who bear a STRIKING resemblance to the greek students in tsh 🤔. this would be one thing. it is pretty well acknowledged that nothing is original and there are enough changes to The Likeness that MAYBE i could let it slide if not for this other thing: french’s book, the likeness, has lines that are just basically reworded quotes from the secret history and french positions these lines so they are said by the counterpart (essentially same!) character that gave them original life in tsh. i cannot stress this enough: you can HEAR how similar the sentences are and their core intent is always the same. it’s thinly veiled theft! it astounds me that French hasn’t been sued frankly. it is one thing to want to capture some of the genius that tartt’s debut novel holds, but it is completely lazy and disgusting theft to go about it in the way French did with this book. and YES the secret history was published before french’s book. if i could stomach how fucking goddamn boring the likeness was to read it a second time and cite every one of these offenses i would, but that’s yet a third strike against it—it’s too boring to be worth it. 

T. Kingfisher’s second book of the Clocktuar War duology : The Wonder Engine. this is a book that i feel violated the contract between writer and reader. the first book feels almost like a YA book. the stakes while described as very high are treated, as actions unfold, as very low. nothing truly irreparable happens until the climax of the second book and the fallout of that action is so off-tone of everything that came before i felt deeply betrayed. no, like, completely betrayed as in it ruined the rest of my afternoon, i am still viscerally angry eight months later, and i will never trust this author again. sure, maybe none of those actions that led to the climax were out-of-character, but there was nothing NOTHING in the proceeding action that even came close to that level of consequence. it’s a pity because right up till that point i was having a really good time. the entire vibe of the rising action to the climax of book one all the way through the rising action of book two was just a quippy fun version of roadtrip/quest - it felt like a comfort read. the abrupt tone shift had all the subtlety of dropping a graphically, brutal murder into Blue’s Clues. you don’t do that - this is a basic tenet of a writer / reader relationship. i’m not touching this bitch’s shit again.

5- Love Triangle, yes or no?

not so much. i like jen before me will scream ‘just be poly.’ love triangles that lead into poly relationships? yes, awesome will be glad i read. but i am at a stage in my life where your standard will-they-won’t-they-love-triangle is just fucking pointlessly frustrating to me. an example: i read a Nic Stone’s book Odd One Out a couple years ago and something about the synopsis or the hype made me think that it would resolve the love triangle that way, so when that did not happen i was incredibly frustrated and immediately wanted to resell the book. it’s the potential of the thing. stone’s book could have been the perfect vehicle for opening up the concept of polyamory to a ya audience but instead just really squandered that potential with weak floundering — in my opinion!

6- the most recent book you just couldn’t finish

uhhhhh i’ve got two and i’m not sure i’ve entirely given up quite yet buuuuuuuut 

fucking dune. i got really pissed off with this book. So just…setting aside the whole vaguing at a pedophilically inclined queer coded villain - it’s done so poorly, that it's almost funny? like it doesn’t (as of half way through) actually have any consequence on…anything at all and is tacked on like an afterthought to the end of his scenes. honestly it all could just be cut out entirely with no recourse to the larger story. So my actual beef with this book is the pacing is ATROCIOUS. like yo, not only do you expect me to give a shit about these Atreides cunts, when we just met them and we spend the same amount of time with them IF NOT MORE with the antagonist? but you also expect me to believe Paul was able to just convince the leader of the Arrakis people —the leader of an entire planet!!— with a single fucking sentence??? yeah, not so much. it was not set up for me to believe that Paul could do that! maybe if Kynes hadn’t died immediately after—or at least not died at that moment? baring the fact I thought he was by far the most interesting character, IF he had been convinced by Paul in that scene, it would have been great to see some actual work done around that - with a transfer or a liaise of power between Kynes and Paul and the Fremen. By not having any substantive scene that does it - it begs the question of what the fuck was the point of the character in the first place? unplumbed potential!!! over all there seem to be some key scenes missing to get the reader to where the narrative expects us to be? but the choices made of the characters we spend time with and the moments we see with them, the benefit to the larger story…is not always there. hey herbert, these words you have written aren’t doing what you want them to?? i feel like i should finish it but i reaaaaallly don’t want to :) the only thing i can say is it looks like from the trailer, villeneueve is giving space to these moments so that the viewer can foster a genuine connection with the characters? radical concept.

our lady of perpetual hunger - i started this one optimistically bc i like chef memoirs, but i am at the point where she has just given birth to her son and honestly DON’T CARE. i still haven’t officially given up on it yet since i actually fucking bought it like a dope. i certainly would not have if i knew how much NOT about working the line this was gonna be

7- book you are currently reading

Aside from the failures mentioned above, I am working on the second book in B. Catling’s Vorrh trilogy, The Erstwhile. Also very close to finally finishing Iain Sinclair’s The Last London - there’s a review of his work from the LA Times that goes “One of Sinclair’s greatest skills has always been his ability to take diverse if not chaotic source material and refashion it in a way that sometimes seems downright alchemical” which captures some of the wonder I experience when reading his work. His style and how he creates atmosphere and setting is just unique and astounding.

8- last book you recommended to someone

The Secret History by Donna Tartt. Before that I told my brother to read Eat a Peach, as we both love Anthony Bourdain and David Chang talks about him a bit here, plus it’s just a fucking great book. any book that gives insight into Chang’s methodology and paradigm is worth a shot.

9- oldest book you read

I think it might have to be Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night (which apparently according to wiki premiered on the stage a whole four months before Hamlet so that’s what we’re going with) and if plays don’t count, I don’t care. I think they count and that’s what we’re going with.

10- the most recent book you read ?

Given the previous question, the most recently published book, right? It’s gotta be the one I just finished: The First Collection of Criticism by a Living Female Rock Critic - Revised and Expanded edt., which like just came out this summer. I watched Jessica Hopper’s promo zoom, curtesy of my local indie bookstore, and went ahead and bought it. This was a great decision! It was just what I needed to read these last couple of weeks. i love there’s lots of short pieces that made the read quick and the fact that it’s non-fiction so there was no pressure of a plot or the emotional weight of character investment when I had a lot of big stressors dragging me down irl -it was such a relief. Hopper’s criticism is fun to read and there’s some real art in her appreciation of music here.

11- favourite author?

These are the top in a kind of order but not really: Donna Tartt, Jeff VanderMeer, Megan Whalen Turner, Flannery O’Conner, Chuck Palahniuk, Anthony Bourdain

Other faves very much worth mentioning: Emily O’Neill, Richard Siken, Brandon Sanderson, Warren Ellis, Nathan Englander, Stephen King, Eddie Huang, Carl Hiaassen, Anne Carson, and Iain Sinclair.

12- buying books or borrowing books?

Depends on if my library has it, of course! I nearly always see if my library has a copy first if i have never read it or the author before. If i’ve read the book before or trust the author, I’ll buy it. Like I’ll straight out buy new stuff from Jeff VanderMeer even though with him it’s either this-hits-exactly-and-is-my-new-fave or i-really-disliked-this-but-admire-the-boundaries-you’re-pushing-my-dude - so it’s always a gamble but a worthy one.

12- a book you dislike that everyone else seems to love

a little life (just bc it's torture porn elevated to art doesn’t negate the fact that it’s torture porn. Yanagihara’s project here is repugnant and the fact that this book is lauded as moving lgbt fiction makes my skin crawl)

sharp objects (good writing, compelling story, BUT typographical scarification doesn't work like that - i am not going to get into it but i know from first hand experience how Flynn described it is not accurate)

nesbø’s the snowman (what kinda dumbass detective would think THAT when a woman finds her missing father’s corpse? absolute idiocy - so obviously reverse engineered with that end in mind)

the raven cycle (fuck ronan lynch to start and then fuck him to end as well - there’s some other stuff but mostly he’s a total CUNT and if i don’t say that once a day i have probably died)

14 - bookmarks or dogears?

Bookmarks and sticky notes. Then I can place it pointing directly to the paragraph I last stopped on.

15- The book you can always reread?

This is my question because I reread all the time. ALL THE TIME. Books I reread often: The Secret History, Medium Raw (especially chapter 17 The Fury), Crooked Kingdom, The Violent Bear It Away, and The Goldfinch. Every year like clockwork (since it came out apparently) I will reread Stephen King’s The Outsider.

Other books I feel the urge to reread: VanderMeer’s Acceptance, Englander’s Dinner at the Center of the Earth, Frazier’s Nightwoods, Fresh Off the Boat, the Mr. Mercedes trilogy, the Peter Grant Series (which is queued up for another go here soon I think), any of the stories from A Good Man is Hard to Find, Sanderson’s Wax and Wayne Mistborn books, simon vs the homosapiens’ agenda, and there are two of Alan Morinis’ books on Mussar that I am technically always revisiting—when i need a reminder, i’ll jump around and read specific sections to get centered again.

16- can you read while listening to music?

Yes, but only ambient or near ambient (only usually one track on repeat) or a soundtrack I am extremely familiar with. No new music. I do usually need some audio stimulation or my mind will wander terribly.

17- one POV or multi POV?

Multi pov can certainly be done well (looking at the soc duaology and VanderMeer’s Acceptance) but working a multi-pov means there are more plates spinning, it’s more of a challenge, and some authors pull it off better than others.

18- do you read book in one sitting or in multiple days?

I don’t really do this anymore. that might have something to do with me picking up thicker books? but also i have a full time job now and let’s be real the book has to be hella good if i don’t want to put it down. the last book i attempted to shotgun was the final installment of my favorite series and it still took me two days so....i can get through a lot of books but none of them are ever in one sitting anymore.

Hey-o, not sure where I’m gonna upload my writing yet, probs google drive but I haven’t gotten around to it yet, so here’s the prologue to the new thing! Also, this is going to be horror, so if you are unnerved easily, or don’t handle horror easily, you might want to avoid this. There will be themes of questioning reality, loss of time, loss of free will, and more. I’ll try to tag what’s applicable this prologue is (mostly) tame though.

Prologue

“You know, you’re lucky! This center has only been open for about a month. People are already raving about how it’s going to ‘revolutionize the field of psychology’. It’s booked straight through the next year.”

I continue staring out the car window. Whatever this state worker thinks is comforting...well, clearly she’s never actually talked to a kid before, or rather, taken note of their reactions.

“’Completely cured in two weeks of less!’ Doesn’t that sound great?” she continues.

She’s practically begging for me to feed into her. I don’t.

“Well, I’ve already taken a handful of kids there, and they have seen remarkable improvement so far.” she pauses, to see if I say anything.

I see this, center? No, this looks more like those old crazy houses in the horror films. The kind that have ghosts around every corner. The bronze plaque on the gate reads, ‘The Institute of Revolutionary Hypnosis’. Two weeks and I’ll be cured? Sounds unlikely. How can you ‘cure’ someone of the trauma of seeing...I don’t buy it.

We pull up and get out of the car. I look up at the building, and spot a woman staring at me through the window, 3rd floor up, long brown hair or black? It’s a bit creepy, but I suppose you find those kinds of people here don’t you?

“Come on, now, please?” I hear a tinge of irritation in her voice. Which she quickly tries to mask with that please at the end.

It only comes off as bitter to me. I’ve always been good at reading emotions though, maybe to others they wouldn’t see it.

As we walk towards the door I see two very large, very intimidating, men on either side of the double doors, which also seem larger than normal. Maybe. Between them is a lady, she seems young, but still older than me.

She lets out a far too cheerful, “Hello! You must be…?”

The social worker answers for me, “Ah, this is,” she reads her clipboard, “Ralph Gingham?” she looks over at me for confirmation, I nod. “He’s scheduled for treatment, you should be expec-”

“Yes! Ralph! We’ve been waiting for you. C-PTSD, right? Probably some other things rattling around in there too, eh?” the receptionist lady says this with a smile that seems off. I don’t like how happy she is discussing my mental illness. This whole exchange feels off and artificial. Like they are both read the lines for a play, and I’m trying to guess the blanks.

“Yea, I was under the bed when my parents were killed. I guess it fucked me up or something.” I can’t help myself, maybe it’s their cheerfulness. I can’t stand the happiness of everyone around me, while I’m…

“Well aren’t you a cheery one!!” she interrupts my thoughts with the statement. Not a question. “Well, let’s get started with the tour! I can take him from here.”

Almost imperceptibly, I feel like I see her wink, at the state worker. No, maybe not. I don’t know. Maybe. Who knows?

We enter the lobby, past the large men. I get the feeling I won’t be getting past them if I think about fleeing. It’s large, and mostly empty. There’s a desk, with a chair and a computer, and a phone. The typical stuff you would expect from a reception desk. Some potted plants scattered around, although they look fake. Nothing offensive, and perfectly normal.

“So, let’s start! I’m sure you’re dying to see where you’ll be staying for the next two weeks!” Every word out of her mouth feels rehearsed, very well rehearsed.

“Uh, sure. I guess.” As we walk into the first hall, it only just occurs to me that none of my stuff is here. Wait, “Oh, hold on. My backpack, I left it in the-”

“Oh no worries, I’m sure you can handle two weeks without your game boy!” she sticks her tongue out at me, and I’m immediately offended. “All your clothes, food, entertainment, everything! We supply it here. No pesky outside communication to disturb your thoughts, your recovery.”

I have no reason to trust her, but I can’t exactly go running out the front door. So, I guess that’s that. I’m excommunicated from the world for two weeks.

We walk through the hall, I think I missed what the receptionist said. I feel like we’re heading towards a cafeteria, but that’s all that is, a feeling. The hall is spotless, no smudges, no cobwebs, nothing. I’d swear it was painted yesterday, but as I drag my hand across the wall, no paint comes off on me.

I bump into the now stopped receptionist.

“Excuse me, could you not do that?” she asks me.

“What?” I feign ignorance, though I know she’s talking about my hand along the wall.

“The uh, dragging your hand. Hitting the doors bothers the other...roommates” the pause she has before roommates bothers me, but not nearly as much as the fact that I didn’t notice any doors in the hall before. Normally if I drag my hand along a wall I can feel the gaps for a door, or something.

I didn’t with this hall. I decided to just listen to her, and walk obediently by her side.

“Thank you!” she resumes her cheerful tone and her quickened pace.

We enter the cafeteria, and it’s tidy. Not quiet, but not loud. The first thing I notice is that the people in here seem to be of widely varying ages. Some old ladies, some younger boys.

“I didn’t realize everyone here was so...varied.” I say.

“Oh yes, there’s no issues between roommates, since the treatment just works that well. Honestly, we cure you after just two or three sessions, but we need to keep you for a little longer to make sure nothing comes back.” she points to a sign in the cafeteria, ‘Days since last incident: 439’

“I thought you just opened last month?”

“I don’t know where you learned that, but no, we’ve been open for 439 days,” she pauses, smiling at me, “as you can see, we’ve never had an incident. And we don’t expect that to change any time soon.”

I don’t believe her. I don’t know, maybe I don’t believe the social worker. Who knows. I’ve never heard of this place either way, and I can’t exactly look it up, can I?

We make our way to the line workers, the people serving the food. All of them are smiling as they work, which doesn’t seem. I don’t know, it seems off, but not overtly so. “Hi Miranda,” one says with a wave.

“Hey Brian, how are you feeling today?” neither of them breaking their smile

“Fantastic! Here for some food?” it was just then that he notices me, “Oh! Hello sport. How are you?”

Miserable, actually, thanks for asking.

“I’m good. Thanks.” the words leave my lips, but they weren’t mine. Maybe they were? Miranda gives me a look, it makes me feel like she’s happy that I said that.

“Wonderful, always great to hear. Want some pizza? It’s pizza Friday!” he says this with such conviction, I believe him.

I could’ve sworn it was Thursday though. Maybe the days are just blending together, I’ve never been great with dates, even in school.

“Uh,” I look at Miranda.

“He can have a slice, we do have a schedule to keep though.” she says, glancing at her watch.

I happily accept the plate, with a slice of pizza. Maybe I’m just hungry, that’d explain some of the off-ness, right?

We continue walking, we exit the cafeteria, and enter a different hall. I think. Honestly, I can see myself getting very lost here, “Hey, Miranda. What do I do if I get lost?”

She responds, “Oh, you won’t get lost, I promise. This tour is very informative.”

Never breaking her cheerful attitude. She certainly seems confident. This place must take in other types of mental illness? Certainly not everyone is great at navigating this place. I mean, I got lost my freshman year of high school over a dozen times. My high school must have been at least half the size of this place, if not smaller.

On the second floor it’s just...doors. So many doors, and halls.

“This is where most people sleep, obviously the caretakers won’t be sleeping here, but all the roommates do.” Her use of caretakers unnerves me.

“Caretakers? Why do you keep saying roommates? Will I have to share a room?” I can’t stop the questions. They just kinda spill out of me.

“Oh, a quizzical one. The doctors, the watchers, me. That’s what I mean by caretakers, just people who will be taking good care of you.” she pats my head, which makes me feel condescended to. “As for the sharing a room, yes, you will. Just one, we have two people to each room. Most people like the company.” She smiles at me again. “Trust me, you’ll love them.”

Each door has a number and a plaque next to it, with two names each. Seems similar to the hospitals I’ve seen. We walk through a couple hallways, and we stop at room 39. I read my name, ‘Ralph Gingham,’ and underneath, the name, ‘Pete Mozzato’.

“Here’s your room!” she opens the door as she says this. This Pete isn’t here, so I guess he’s out and about. “Pete is really swell, I think you’ll get along nicely.”

“How old is he?” I ask. Again, without thinking.

“He’s 19, same as you.” she gives a brief pause, “We don’t segregate people during relaxed activities, like eating, or playing, or such. But we do try to match each person with a person the same age for sleeping arrangements. ‘It helps the circadian rhythm’”

She says this, but I don’t really understand, nor do I think that’s true. Either way, at least I’ll have someone who can relate to me somewhat.

“And that’s it! You’ll see that we have some decent outdoors equipment, and activities, in the back. Kinda hard to miss those.”

“But, I feel like I haven’t seen a whole half the building, let alone the 3rd floor!” I may have raised my voice a bit.

“Hush, hush. No need to raise a fuss. The third floor is for treatments, you’ll see it plenty. The rest is just other rooms. You’ll see there’s bathrooms scattered about, and you know where the cafeteria is. You also know where there’s activities. That’s all you need.” she walks into my room, expecting me to follow.

And I do.

“I’m sure you’ll want to relax a bit, your schedule is printed on the calendar on your half of the room, Welcome to The Institute of Revolutionary Hypnosis!” She closes the door behind her as she says this. I want to go open the door and yell at her, but I don’t.

Schedule says my first ‘treatment’ is at 9am. I look at the clock, on the wall above the door, and see that it’s already 8:01pm. It’s strange. I didn’t even notice the sun going down, but a glance out the window confirms it. Guess I’m here, let’s hope this helps me.

I was definitely more of an arts student. I only did great in math and science when I liked the topics we were learning, but otherwise I never felt like exerting as much effort for them as I did for classes like history. Your dog is really little. He’s medium-sized. He’s a really weird size actually hahaha and I guess it’s because he’s mixed. He’s too big to be classified as a small dog and too small to be grouped with the larger dogs. You love being tan. I mean I obviously don’t go advertising how much I love it, but it’s definitely nothing to complain about.

You think you are pretty for the most part. I have my days. You love making other people smile. Getting people’s approval is always a nice achievement. You love bracelets or just wearing jewelry in general. I think jewelry’s pretty but I’m particular about them – I prefer them to be silver and for them to have subtle designs, never explosive as I think that’s a tad bit tacky. Also I prefer necklaces to bracelets. TLC is one of your favorite channels on TV. It certainly would be if I still regularly watched television. I wouldn’t do it myself but I have friends who are great at decorating, like Laurice, and I think it’s a good and a pretty cool skill to have. You always seem to be cold. Not always, but I do feel cold more easily than the people I know. I’m always the first one to grab a jacket, a blanket, or to move further away from the AC. Still, I prefer being cold than hot. I was only interested in it because it felt edgy to watch as a 12 year old lmao, but I was never obsessed. You think tye dye is super cool. It’s definitely cool and fun to make, but it’s not the first, fifth, or thirtieth thing I’d wear. You love glitter. Your nails are almost always painted. Total opposite. You have had sex before. You are pretty good at rollerblading. I was never good at it even though I practiced a lot. I generally have bad balance. You wish you were a good gymnast. Sure, I feel that this is a very cool skill to have. I remember being fascinated by the gymnasts from Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo and how prettily they spun their ribbons. rory pearson was born and raised in fairhope, alabama.  his parents were teenagers when they had him and lived with his grandma scarlett.  his mom jean marie was ousted by her parents when she told them she was pregnant and his dad’s mom took her in with open arms.  

of course his grandma wasn’t going to let them live in the same room in her house without being married, especially with her grandbaby on the way.  so after talking with them, and his parents agreeing, they went to the courthouse and got married three months before rory came into the world.  

rory was born on april 20th, 1996 and he was without a name for six days.  his parents couldn’t decide so they named him rory wyatt vincent pearson.  he was always told that since his parents couldn’t decide on naming him after jean marie’s grandfather or greyson’s father, they picked a third name and gave him both of their names for middle names.  

when rory was two and a half years old ( not really half, it was june ?? ) his parents graduated high school and went out for a party.  unfortunately their designated driver wasn’t so sober and the group of four recent graduates crashed into another car.  

his father was in the passenger’s seat and died on impact, his mother was pronounced dead in the ambulance on the way to the hospital.  

scarlett legally adopted rory after that and raised him.  she always told him stories of his parents, but avoided telling him anything about what happened to them for as long as she could.  

he was ten years old when he saw the memorial and recognized his parents from their yearbook photos and came home asking about it.  

honestly this is jumping ahead a bit but rory didn’t learn to drive until he was twenty years old.  and even now, esp now, since he lives in nyc he doesn’t drive often. 

okay when he was seventeen years old he met bethany in an airport.  he was on his way to a college interview on a connecting flight that got cancelled due to weather conditions.  they were both sitting in the same terminal so they got to talking and !!! hit it off

anyway flash forward to he’s in college and he’s moved away to be closer to bethany.  which should not have affected his life but when he was looking at colleges fr fr after acceptances the boy chose one closer to his girl

anyway on bethany’s 19th birthday he took her to an airport and was surprising her with a trip to disney that he’s been saving up for for MONTHS !!!! 

and at the airport he was like all jittery and nervous bc in his pocket he had an engagement ring but he did his bEST to hide it all from beth bc surprises 

not that he planned the whole thing ( he did ) but it just so happened they were in the same restaurant waiting for their flight as their first date way back when

and in the middle of dessert, the waiters singing happy birthday this boy attempts to be sly and gets down on one knee.  but didnt realize there would be someone coming up behind him to keep up the singing and he ..... kinda caused a mini avalanche of people

and he apologized and is like still on one knee and now he’s looking at bethany with a BRIGHT RED face and he had had this whole speech worked out in his mind ok but all that comes out is, “i love you, please marry me?” in like an awkward stutter because he just TOOK OUT AN ENTIRE WAITSTAFF 

somehow bethany said yes ??? and they’re engaged ??? 

oh and someone got the whole thing on camera and like that happened 

the video skyrocketed to the most viewed video entitled “i witnessed an awkward proposal???? and she still said yes?????”

and for a long time it was mainly vlogs of him and beth and him and his friends 

okay so fast forward and rory’s graduated college with a degree in history education bc he wants to be a teacher and he’s got to fly back to alabama and miss his graduation because he got a phone call and grandma scarlett had a stroke

so the boy is freaking out but it’s fine !!! grandma goes home and he winds up staying down and now he’s trying to figure out how to be with beth, find a job in ny, but also take care of his grandma 

for a while he toys with the idea of moving grandma up to new york and helping her find a place.  so he goes back to new york to talk to beth about it and he’s freaking out and he gets home and she tells him she’s pregnant

of course he never expected to be like 20 and having a baby but ??? whatever.  now he’s freaking out because his grandma is not doing good and he’s worried about her and now he’s got to figure out what to do with a BABY ???

and bethany then tells him she wants to get an abortion and rory’s already stressed and so he flips bc of emotions and they get into a huge fight and it just winds up with him leaving and heading back to alabama and bethany in their apartment  

so rory goes home to alabama and he keeps getting notifications on social media about bethany so he just shuts his phone off and i’m talking like he goes days without touching his cell phone.  he takes a hiatus from youtube because he’s freaking out and 

two months after he’s home he seemed like scarlett was doing better so he took her to a party in town to see some of her friends and at the party scarlett had another stroke.  

she died six days later, never waking up from the medically induced coma they put her in.  

flash forward a couple more weeks after he’s working with lawyers for his grandma’s estate and rest assured scarlett pearson had nothing but her house, her garden, and her beat up corvette that her deceased husband wyatt bought her for their anniversary one year

so its a shocker to find out that scarlett pearson was worth 43.7 billion dollars 

and now that money all goes to rory because he’s her only living heir ???

so rory gets this BOATLOAD of money and the local newspaper picks it up which brings it to the national news and somehow it made international news

Authors Note: i know is suck at summaries, im so used to just gettin the frickin request and just copy and paste u know. but omg i think i am in luv with this story. this is prob now one of my fav stories i have done. i have watched all of dbh on jacksepticeyes channel (lol im too cheap y’all) and it is one of my fav games. my sis luvs connor to pieces as do i (cuz he luvs dogs duh) so this is for her. i’ve wanted to write a dbh fic for the longest time so here it is. i really want to write more so pls request more of this and feedback is much appreciated here. 

“-so that means that we have to act natural like one of them,” Hank explained while driving to the destination. 

You, sitting in the back of the car thought about this mission. You have worked with Hank for a couple of months, you’re both practically friends. Maybe even BEST FRIENDS (lol idk why i feel like this sentence would sound like spongebobs voice. well it kinda makes sense since the dude who plays hank plays mr krabs...anyways) 

The goal was to arrest a man named Devin James. Supposedly, he has been keeping deviants for about 2 years. He sells them for quite a lot of cash to those who want to “fix” them. Your expression turned into sadness when you read his file. You understood what he did to these deviants. He would lock them up, abuse, torture them, and then sell them to others. But not so they can be fixed its so the buyers can torture the deviants more. 

Unfortunately, you knew why he needed to be arrested. It was not because he was doing these things to the androids. It is because he is selling deviants. In your mind however, you saw this as a rescue mission. To make sure those deviants get out, even if it kills you. 

Your group came into contact with him. Devin was now currently, in a club called “Pomegranate”. 

“Weird name for a club,” you laughed looking outside the window. It was midnight, the night sky pitch black. There was tiny drops of rain pattering against the glass.

“Maybe it is called Pomegranate because when a woman opens up her legs-”

“Shhhh Connor! There is a woman seated in the back!” You called out, your eyes widened in surprise that Connor knew those types of things. You scratched your nose and wiggled your eyebrows, “Hank, you gotta be careful with this one. Apparently he’s either been too much into fanfiction or hentai to know those types of facts.”

Hank looked into the rear view mirror, “In a minute y/n I’m gonna throw your as* outside this car into the pouring rain! Now can we talk about the dam* arrest!”

You shrugged and laid back muttering, “It was your baby Connor’s fault.”

Hank gave you a glare through the mirror. Any words that were about to come out of your mouth were quickly swallowed down. 

The car stopped and you jumped out. 

“Alright, remember what I said act. Natural. This guys good, he has ran away from the police many, many, many times. So we need to make sure that he doesn’t know that we’re cops,” Hank instructed slamming his car door.

You nodded, “Right, right, right. But let me ask you this Hank from “Finding Dory” how the hel* is Mr. Roboto here gonna oh I don’t know...blend in. When he’s a fuc*in android!”

“I also see no way out of this Lieutenant Anderson,” Connor added. 

Hank rolled his eyes at you and opened his trunk, “I was gonna get to that, y/n! Disguises.”

You peered into the trunk to see a plain tux, a bedazzled 80s suit (which of course you knew to be for Hank), and a dress. 

“Connor you wear this tux, and you y/n, wear this dress.”

Connor eyed the tux that was handed to him weirdly, and you groaned at the dress. 

“I do not think I can do this. It is not in my making to change my outfit-”

“Well, what about me! I mean it is in my making to change but like...I DON’T WANNA,” you interrupted Connor, making him blink like “what just happened.”

Hank closed the trunk and locked his car, “No if, ands, or buts. Go to the restrooms and put them on.”

You heaved a heavy sigh, “Ugh! I have my stupid period and now I have to wear this dumb dress,” you grumbled as you trudged inside the club. 

“Keep an eye out for y/n, okay Connor,” Hank said as he walked inside.

Connor was changed into his tuxedo and Hank was in his suit. 

“I’m gonna head over there, see if I can find him. You-,” Connor and Hank looked up to see you come out of the bathroom. 

(omg i can so imagine this the chorus comes on or in this vid 1:02) You dolled yourself to look like a million bucks. Make up on and hoop earrings. “You guys ready?”

If you hadn’t known any better you would have thought they got a boner because of you. 

“Y/n,” Connor whispered, mesmerized by your look. The dress clung on to all the right places. 

“Jesus y/n, look at you. Connor close your mouth,” Hank chuckled. “Alright I’m gonna go over there see you guys in a few if you haven’t got any leads. Let me know if you spot him though, alright? Good!” Hank left. 

You walked well more like almost tripped with the 9-inch heels. “You go by the exits, Connor. And I’ll take the bar.” You pushed your boobs up (if u aint got titties dont worry u added some padding then, every boob counts👍) , “Okay ladies...do your job.” 

You swayed to the bar, trying to entice a man like Devin. Instead, Connor looked with big, wide, eyes. “I swear I haven’t even had a dic* bigger than 9-inches. How do you expect me to walk in these Hank?!?” You grumbled aloud to yourself.

“Excuse me, baby but you are sure lookin fine,” a tall man growled as he grabbed a handful of your butt. 

You rose your brow and tried not to punch him in the balls. “Do not blow you’re cover y/n,” you thought to yourself. 

“Hey, give her an old fashioned,” the man ordered the bar tender.

You nodded and smacked your lips together, “oh, okay, so you want me to be drunk as hel*. I gotcha.”

The man laughed and licked his lips, “Thats funny. This drink will make you grow chest hair, that is for sure.”

The bartender gave you the drink. You coughed, and prepared yourself to be drunk in this mission. You chugged the liquid down. The whiskey burning your throat. It all slid south and you put the glass down harshly. “Baby, know that women got hair all over.” You raised your arms up and showed your armpits. Hey, you haven’t shaved in a while. You a busy gal. (if u think that this is nasty u better get off this blog right now)

“Dam* girl, you for real though,” the guy sat down on the bar stools. Eyeing your whole body. 

“I don’t sugar coat. Anyways, whats your name?”

“Carl, Carl Hunter. You?”

“Y/n, L/n.”

“Hey, bartender can she just have a light sangria.”

You pulled your dress down in order to sit on the bar stool. In the process, you put your purse down on the floor, in between your legs. 

You then put your attention to Carl again and saw your drink was waiting for you. 

“Why thank you, Carl. I think I’m not gonna drink anymore than this so here,” you handed the bartender, “is the cash.”

Carl stepped in and forced your hand down. “Baby, I got this. My mama always taught me how to be a gentleman. I will pay for this.”

You knitted your eyebrows together, “Are you sure?”

“Of course, sweetheart.”

You grinned and stroked his arm. He winked at you. As he was paying the bartender you took out a device called “pd.id”. It shows if your drink has been spiked. 

“Pric*,” you muttered. You brought out your handcuffs out and handcuffed him to the stool. 

“Hey, what the fuc* you think you doin?”

“I am saving women, pig! Trying to drug my drink huh? Thought it could get past me? You are dead wrong, and your name was Carl Hunte?” You wrote it on your hand. “Got it, thanks Carl for buying my drinks. Hope you like prison.” You poured the sangria all over his head and walked to Connor. 

“Have you found him yet y/n?” Connor was by the dance floor. 

“Nope, but I found a disgusting sex offender. So still kinda saved the day,” you sighed, placing your hands on your hips. 

You phoned Hank who was...somewhere. “Where you at Hank?”

“I’ve asked around to see if someone knows him or if they’ve sighted him. But everyone around here acts like dumbas*es. You got anything?”

You snickered, “Nada, hey I’ll make this bet. Whoever gets Devin first gets their drink paid by the loser.” Your eyebrows rose as you looked to Connor who looked at you with puppy, innocent eyes. “And Connor can have some...blood...”

Connor smiled and looked away.

You could hear Hank on the other side chuckling, “Okay y/n...you’re on. Have fun...LOSER!” Then Hank hanged up the call. 

“As*,” you laughed. 

You then saw the dance floor and people were dancing all over. It was as if a light bulb went off in your brain. “I have an idea,” you said aloud. 

You grabbed onto Connor’s hand and guided him with a sway of your hips to the dance floor. 

“Have I ever told you I love this song,” you grinned. Your feet stepping to the beat. Connor just stood like a plank of wood. Just mesmerized by your moves.

“One kiss is all it takes, fallin in love with me,” you sang, goofing off also by doing the underwater dance. “C’mon Connor join me.”

Connor’s mouth was open wide, “Oh, um, um, I do not think dancing is in my program.”

You brought your hands on Connor’s shoulders, and your body bent and stretched all over. “I’ll teach you robo boy,” you winked. 

Connor’s cheeks created a blue blush, he was a lost for words. His eyes were glued to your eyes. Drinking everything in. 

“You move like this, put your hands here,” you said while placing Connor’s hands on your hips. “Now just feel the beat, the rhythm, be one with the song.”

Connor stumbled a bit, but then he got the hang of it. “I, I think I am doing it y/n.”

“See! There you go!”

You both moved together so perfectly. Like trees swaying in the wind. Like a river. Your hands traveled all over Connor and he developed an even deeper blush. 

You then let go of him and danced by yourself. He studied your dancing for a while then he danced by himself.

Finally, Connor was being...Connor. He was being himself. He was proving to the world that androids are not just things, they are living and they deserve to be free. 

“Oh my god, YES CONNOR! GO CONNOR! Woooohooooo!!!!!,” you cheered jumping up and down. 

You both danced then like animals. Shaking not caring if you both looked like two goofballs. The dance floor was empty so it was just the two of you. You did the sprinkler dance. Connor then started laughing and smiling from ear to ear. 

“Yeah, go y/n, go y/n,” Connor cheered as well. 

You heard the song was almost to the end. Your body twirled to Connor’s body until you both were almost glued together. 

“You are extremely beautiful...y/n...,” Connor whispered only so you and him could hear.

“And you Connor are important to me,” you whispered to him. You both were closing the gap between you two, your lips almost meeting. 

“Guys, I found Devin,” Hank yelled to you both as he appeared before you two. “Oh, um, am I disturbing something?”

“You found him,” you questioned as Hank ran ahead. You broke contact with Connor and gave him a guilty face. You stepped off the dance floor and brought your gun out of your thigh holster, following Hank, with Connor behind you. 

You sprinted to the commotion of people now screaming since smart pants Devin tried to shoot you guys. You tried to see him over the sea of people. 

“I spot him,” you shouted, not caring of the protests of Hank and Connor. “Don’t worry guys I got this!”

 You ran after Devin, stumbling a few times from the dumb heels. You look down, “Dam* heels!” While going after this man, you take the heels off and throw them at him (kinda like Nakia from Black Panther). He screams in pain but doesn’t stop. He jumps over boxes of booze from the club and you do the same. You chase him out of the club, going in the street. 

“GET DOWN NOW,” you scream at him. “If you do not stop I will shoot!”

The man kept going until you shook your head, breathed hard a couple of times, you sped, fast after him. It was if you were possessed by Usain Bolt. You caught up to him, your dress ripped by your legs. You pounced on Devin, putting his arms behind his back in a death grip. “PUT THE GUN DOWN, NOW!”

Devin, breathing harshly, threw the gun away from you both. “Owww you’re hurting me,” he whined. 

“Good,” you sassed back, picking him up harshly. More in the light you can see where the end of your heel hit the side of his head. You tried not to laugh, muffling your giggles. 

You picked up the gun and walked back to Hank and Connor who were not far from you. 

“That was very impressive,” Connor smirked while winking like you did. 

“...am I missing something here,” Hank eyed both of you. 

You gave a lopsided grin, “Oh Hank, if only you knew...No, you’re missing your Devin. Here’s his gun and you owe me a drink...loser” You threw the gun to Hank and chuckled. 

As Hank took a hold of Devin you went to his level to speak to him. “So Devin, where you hidin these deviants?”

“I won’t tell...cun*,” he hissed. You punched his face, your ring making a mark on his nose it also looking a little crooked, and blood coming out. Heh, marked twice by you. 

“Y/n, can you please be a little more fuc*in professional, right Connor?” Hank asked Connor.

Connor shrugged, “I think that punch was needed.”

“Okay, I am definitely missing something,” Hank shouted. 

You gripped Devin’s face, “You. Don’t. Talk. To. Women. Like. That. Understand? Now, again, where are the deviants?”

“In my warehouse, like 5 blocks from here.”

“Thank you,” you said professionally. You walked barefoot to the car, and waited for the boys.

“I have gotten you these,” Connor handed you a pair of flip flops. “I know it is not much, but I much prefer you walking in them then on the wet ground.”

You smiled and thanked him. Hank was driving to the warehouse that Devin talked about. 

“I think this is it,” you called, looking out your window to see a rusty metal warehouse. The scene you walked on upon looked like it was taken from a 80s horror film. The lightning striking like a whip in the dark clouds. You brought your flashlight out. “Whelp boys, lets see what we find in here.” 

You all walked inside. You were thankful you were out of the pouring rain, but now you were stuck in the cold metal warehouse. Shivering like a pair of rattled bones, you tried to cover your bare arms by hugging yourself. 

“Here y/n, take this. I do not want you to get a cold,” Connor gently placed his tux jacket on your shoulder, leaving him in a tight white shirt with a black bow tie.

“Thanks...Connor,” you smiled, cuddling yourself in the jacket. 

“I think we should all spread out. Just remember though, we’re dealing with deviants...be careful, all of you,” Hank said making his way to the right. Connor chose the left, while you, well didn’t choose but were stuck with the middle. 

You tiptoed silently, trying not to make any noise. It was dark, and dusty. It was extremely hard for you not to erupt into a coughing fit. Suddenly, you heard a bang coming from the side of you. You jumped almost like a cat. You stood there, trying to do breathing exercises, and to try to steady your heart. Even though lets be real, your heart was not steady even to begin with this mission. Everything was thrown, antique chairs, a type writer, and pieces of a car hung from the ceiling. The dust particles traveled across the light from your flashlight. The dirt was all muddy since there were tiny holes in the roof. It smelled disgusting, like a farm. 

“How could anyone live like this,” you spoke aloud, covering your nose with Connor’s jacket. 

“Please, save us,” you heard from in front of you. You panicked and turned every which way, trying to find the source of that voice. 

“We beg you save us. Let us be free.”

“Get us out of here.”

“We want to be free.”

“Is that our savior, Marcus?”

“Please, save us.”

“Please!”

Your flashlight then came upon the cells and cells of deviants. Some were all white having taking off their skin. Some were broken, missing limbs, missing an eye. Some were still freshly made new, just with a few tiny scratches. But they all had one thing in common. They were begging. Begging you to set them free. They were tired of living like this. Your heart saddened for them, why couldn’t androids be free? Why were they abused and slaughtered like this? It was not right. But what if you did let them all out? Would you loose the trust of Hank, or even worse Connor? Would you loose your job letting these deviants out secretly? There were only two choices, 

were you going to leave the deviants?

or...were you going to let them out?

You had to decide...

I’m so sorry for such a delayed response but I am absolutely Thrilled for you!!!! experiencing life w a kitten for the first time is so magical and it can be exhausting but it’s all so worth it. you’re gonna be in love. idk if you’ve gotten him already yet but hopefully some of this info will still be helpful even if you have. I made this a read more bc I wrote a lot lol. please let me know if there are any other questions that you have and good luck with everything 💗

re: his name, I have NO idea but I literally always thought if I ever get another boy kitten that I’d want to name him Rumi? also sometimes once you get them a name manifests naturally so don’t stress too much about that. I will say that it’s better to keep it st short and at a max of two syllables, when you say his name to him pronounce it with emphasis so he knows you’re talking to him. 

before he arrives (again, if you have him already you can disregard this lol) but I suggest planning on keeping him in one room to start as he gets used to your home environment - the sounds/smells etc. so for me I kept him in my room. 

this room will need to be baby proofed, check the floor for small things they could choke on, cover up outlets, loose wires, etc. so that it’s a safe enough place to leave him unsupervised. 

make sure that you keep all his necessary things there: a litter box, food, water, a few toys (I’ll link some of lulu’s faves later), somewhere to scratch, and somewhere to hide (this might be his carrier or st like this, some cats enjoy sitting in their carriers and some don’t so providing somewhere for him to retreat to is always good imo) 

when you bring him home, set the carrier near the litter and allow him to come out of the carrier on his own. now, I read that a lot of cats are nervous and take time but my cat could not Wait to get out of the carrier and smell the entire parameter of my room, and ik bengals have similar curious temperaments so he may not be that shy from the get go. before he continues exploring just set him down in the litter box so he knows where it is and then let him carry on exploring and familiarizing himself w the environment. 

also make sure the food and water aren’t near the litter box lol 

also I rec getting a small fuzzy blanket and conditioning him to knead on that rather than directly on you or someone/something else. you will thank me later for his when he’s a grown ass adult with grown ass adult paws. 

litter - bengal cats are v big, as are ragdolls so! I rec a Big litter box, either the large or extra large sized pans you can buy. also do yourself a favor and buy the liners, I also def use those litter locker things lol they make it a lot easier to dispose & maintain a clean litter box. 

keep a mat to place the litter box on. please. 

I get the tidy cats instant action one and have never had any issue with smell or any other health problems that some litters can cause 

scratching - this is the scratching post I have for my cat, it’s really nice and tall for large breeds and I haven’t had to replace it quite yet, it’s literally lasted six years of use so far! I’ll probs need to replace it soon though lol but a lot of cheaper scratching posts don’t last more than a few months so I’m really happy w this one. 

also ik they make cardboard ones but my cat’s scratching instinct has never kicked in w those so that’s just st to note, all cats have different preferences so starting out w a few cheaper things and seeing what he prefers before investing in st like what I linked above is a good idea 

regarding grooming - get him used to it early on. wait for him to be in sleepy nap mood and brush him over. let him smell the brush first, that’s a huge tip actually. before introducing him to anything new, before touching him etc, always let him smell before proceeding.  

if you are going to clip his claws at home then get a sturdy pair of clippers, if you buy st cheap and flimsy it’s going to cause damage to his nail. also this is st to get him used to while he is young, it’s okay if he only let’s you do a couple at a time. 

toys! there are obvi many kinds of toys so I’m gonna list some that are lulu’s faves 

any of those cat toys that are like fishing rods with a toy attached to the end? great! avoid getting the ones with feathers on the ends bc your cat will demolish them so fast but also, feather toys always make my cat sneeze so I just avoid letting him play with those. what you’re gonna learn is that between 2 and 5 am, your kitten has a HUGE burst of energy. lulu used to run around my room SO FAST and I used to make him chase after this toy to tire him out before going to bed lol. if you have a kitten that’s super active at night, try to interrupt some of his napping during the day & then play Hard with him before you sleep. also, if your kitten starts panting while playing, take the toy away and let him rest. sometimes they cannot rest if the toy is still in sight so you may have to hide it for a little bit before resuming play. 

cat’s love lasers. if you have a laser it is endless entertainment for both you and your kitten. 

this kind of toy is best for when you’re leaving your cat alone and need him to entertain himself. my cat only plays with this one when I am unavailable, it def keeps him entertained. 

any kind of ball toy is nice, you can play with him or he can play with them by himself

that’s really it tbh cats are v easy to please and I’m sure once you see what kind of things he’s most intrigued by you’ll be able to better figure out what to try out.

The Red Flags in my Past Relationship

I think my relationship with my first ex is probably the funniest. I reread my diary and god was I so stupid. There were so many red flags that got ignored due to me being blinded by love. It was so toxic and bad for me and yet I took all of the shit. SIGH.

It all started when I got into high school. I noticed him walking down the halls (he was in grade 11 at the time) and I was smitten with him. I've had crushes before, my first one lasted 7 years, so I was used to imagining myself in situations with my crush that were wayyy over romanticized. Just as dramatic and cringey as the Twilight saga. So I pretty much "stalk" him for my grade 9 year. Stalk as in notice him in the halls and I'd stare at him till he was gone from view. I think I started talking to him in grade 10 when I joined a musical ensemble that he was in. And this is where it started.

I was given my first red flag before we even began dating...

Flag #1. We had our "first" date at his house during school hours, so yeah I had to skip class for this. We watched a scary movie and the entire time he asked if I needed comfort, which the shy lil' me at the time kept declining. But I mean, what guy would ask a girl over to watch a scary movie with him if he intend for it to be a date..? So almost 5 months past (Oct - Feb) and nothing really happens between us. At our school for Valentines Day you can choose to buy a rose (or roses) for people which get delivered on the day of Valentines Day. I obviously bought one for him. I ended up finding out he bought a rose for another girl who only walked with him during a fashion show in school. They knew each other as much as he and I knew each other so when I found out he did that I was devastated. He must've not seen me as worthy of being chased by him if he's gonna drop me after our first date and go after another girl, right? AND YET I STILL confessed my love to him in April. Ironically he gave me a rose when he responded to my confession. LOL I learned that if your dude can jump from girl to girl that quickly just avoid him entirely.

Flag #2. A month after we started dating I already had insecurities. This was also the month he made his first major move towards me, a kiss. And around 3-5 months in he had already fingered me. I was 15-16 at the time as well. I never had a relationship before so I didn't know that there were boundaries I had to set up. I didn't think that him touching me in such places meant he was taking advantage of me because I was so blinded by my dumb love for him. I didn't say no to anything because I was naive and thought that he's only doing these things because he loved me too. I found out a year after our relationship started that he only started "liking" me 6 months into our relationship. Which meant he kissed and touched me inappropriately before he even liked me back. I started to feel disgusted at my OWN body and that is NOT okay. If you don't feel ready to have sex, let alone being touched inappropriately do not be afraid to say NO!

Flag #3. So around January (9-10 months after the relationship started) he told me his dad used all the internet for the month or something so I won't be able to reach him through Facebook or any other social media for at least 3 days. He also bought the new 3DS and the new Monster Hunter game around the time his internet ran out too. The 3 days past and I missed him terribly and I figured he probably missed me as much as I missed him. He invites me to play Terraria with him and not even 5 minutes into it he leaves me for his 3DS. You see, I started playing Terraria with him because I wanted us to have some sort of game we can play together. This was our "couple game" sort of. I waited 10-20 minutes for him to finish so that we could play together but he ends up ending our call to eat dinner. I figured, ok he will probs play with me after dinner. The moment he comes back he says "sorry in a fight LOL" which I guess he meant a fight in Monster Hunter, "glhf (good luck have fun) in terraria." So I logged out of Terraria, why would I play a game you invited me to by myself? He notices this 10 minutes later and says "o guess you're not playing." are you mf serious? I told him "uhm cuz it's not fun playing alone??" which he replied with "ok maybe later then LOL" <- this was at 9:30 pm. That was around the time I would be sleeping. He knew I slept early too. This shows how little he cared for me and our relationship.

By this point I got so fed up with him. I get that he had his own hobbies and stuff but like it felt more like he didn't want anything to do with me despite me being his girlfriend. It's like he didn't even like me to begin with. My boyfriend now showers me with attention and affection. Even when he goes off to play games he'd always make sure that I was higher priority.

Flag #4. A few times after we have had sex he'd jump right on to his computer and he'd start a League of Legends game just as I'm putting my clothes on. I would even have to see myself out of his apartment and walk myself in the dark to the bus stop in a sketchy ass neighbourhood. I started to feel like he was only dating me just so he can have sex with someone.

Conclusion:

After dating him I realized that I deserve and need to seek way better. He was not right for me as I was not right for him. However, the way he treated me and our relationship was complete ass. I've had people talk shit about me because I'm so vocal about how badly he treated me and honestly? I don't give two fucks about what you think about me because I KNOW I deserved better and can call whoever I want out. I was taken advantage of and I was taken for a fool. Maybe he actually had sincere feelings of love towards me at some point, but it doesn't excuse how he treated me for most of our relationship.

Sucked that this life lesson took 1.5 years of my life.

So I've been watching YouTube videos of how to get over ex's and how to deal with break ups. In my heart, I know we belong together. I know the fact that I'm not Christian is a problem. My arguement is that you never fell in love with an atheist. You fell in love with me. Its tough when you refer to me as atheist because I'm so much more then that. You of all people know that. I love you with all my heart. I want to marry you still. I'm not of being alone or being without you. I'm scared of what I am without you. I rolled over to my side to check the time, 3:34am. I let out a groan as Peter Parker's face ran through my head, along with mums and Caleb's. I tried with all my might to block out his voice, the words he said to me over and over again as he pulled my clothes off.

Think of something positive, please just think of something positive.

My heart beat started to increase and my body started to warm up as I remembered Peter's arms around me, I felt a smile cross my as all the negative thoughts went away and Peter's beautiful face was the only thing I thought about.

I feel like this is more than a crush, every time I see him my body heats up and all I want to do is smile as well as giggle at his adorableness.

I suddenly heard my phone buzz, I sat up slightly to grab my phone from my bedside table. I rubbed my eyes, the light of my screen hurting them slightly. My heart fluttered as my eyes skimmed through the text.

From: Peter💕🙈 Hey, can't sleep and thinking about you, hope you're okay. Text me in the morning about school X :-).

My cheeks heated up at the thought of him thinking about me and worrying if I was okay. What is life?! I let out a small giggle at the smilie face face he left.

I hesitated before pressing send, I bit my lip waiting for his reply. I soon saw the typing symbol making me smile widely.

I let out another laugh as I pressed the send button and it didn't even take five seconds for him to text back.

I started to giggle and leaned back into my bed to start typing again.

I smiled to myself and typed a simple goodnight and put my phone on charge. I soon felt my eyes close as I once again thought of Peter Bloody Parker.

"Miss Stark!" A deep voice yelled slightly causing me to shoot up, I let out a small scream when I saw Vision in my room. I brought my duvet up to my chin as I only had a tank top on and you can see my scars and bruises from Bobbie.

"I'm sorry I didn't mean to startle you Miss Stark but it's one pm. Miss Romanoff tried to wake you up for school but as she put it  'you were flat out'. But for health reasons I suggest you get up and moving before your sleeping patten becomes irregular." Vision said and came over to the side of my bed to hand me a glass of water and my daily tablets.

"I couldn't find any of medication when I unpacked your bag, so I took the liberty of using the ones you keep here" He said again, I sat up still trying to hide my upper chest and my arms. I let out a sigh knowing it's impossible to take them off him whilst trying to do so.

"Don't tell anyone" I said letting the duvet fall slightly, I noticed his eyes scan over my now green bruises and a couple of scars on my arms. Some self inflicted some not. I reached out to take my high dose of setraline (which helps with my depression, anxiety and PTSD) along with a quite low dose risperidone (antipsychotic). I gulped them down with little water, already used to talking them.

"How old are your bruises?" Vision asked, I shrugged lightly.

"A couple of weeks, why?" I asked and coved them up again getting self conscious.

"You must of got them with force" He commented, all I did was nod. I closed my eyes thinking back to when Bobbie started to beat me up about two and a half weeks ago, I don't know why he did it. My fingers lightly traced the hardly visible bruise on the side of my lips where Bobbie had first punched me and as I tried to get away he clawed at my chest.

"At least that ones healed" Vision cutting me out of my thoughts, he was now looking where my fingers are.

"Yeah" I said, he let out a small sigh.

"Your hand is a different story, it doesn't look like it will be healing anytime soon. I think we should get it X-rayed or maybe a MRI to see if anything is damaged" Vision said and generally took my hand in his.

"It's not broken though, I was thinking more about ligaments and tissue" He added, I nodded again not really wanting to say anything. I knew it wasn't broken from Peter.

"How about you get changed and I'll take you down to medics. Just you and me, no one had to know" I sent him a smile and another nod.

"Thank you Vision" I whispered as he headed for the door but still heard me as he sent a nod my way. I sighed then leaned over to my phone as the door shut after him. Peter had sent me a text telling me how maths is boring without me, then Ned sent me a text saying Peter got caught on his phone and now it's confiscated. I let out a laugh as I got out of bed to clean myself up in my bathroom.

When dad found out that he could have parental responsibility over me and even have me over to stay, he went a little over the top with my room. I remember when I was little and being in a meeting with an Interior designer on how I want my room, any size and anything. Now every year on the fourth of March I get to change it, new wardrobe, new bed, new everything. I feel like I'm the luckiest girl in the world when I'm at my dads.

After I'd finished in the bathroom I walked over to my walk in wardrobe as I connected my phone to my surround sound system. I pressed shuffle on my downloaded music and Oasis came on. I smiled to myself as my favourite part came on and I started to sing loudly.

"Maybe I just want to fly I want to live, I don't want to die Maybe I just want to breathe Maybe I just don't believe Maybe you're the same as me We see things they'll never see You and I are gonna live forever"

I quickly picked out something to wear as I remembered Vision is waiting for me. I rolled my eyes when it happened to be a Gucci top and some Nike leggings, I don't understand why thinks he needs to buy me 500 dollar tops when I'm happy with something from forever 21. I still got changed into as I have to admit it's a beautiful top, it's a white t-shirt with a UFO on it with rainbow beams coming out of it with GUCCI written in bold on the top. Once I had put the items on I grabbed my Harry Potter Y/H hoodie to hide my arms then finished my 'outfit' off with some trainers.

I put my phone in my pocket after turning off the music and walked out and down to the medical ward. I soon reached the nearest lift and went to floor four which is where the medical department is.

Everything turned out to be fine, the reason why it bruised so bad was because a knuckle dislocated but popped its self back in.

"Vision do you know when dad will be back? I asked as he checked the deep scratches on my chest and lower neck.

"Mr Stark said he should be back later today, would you like me to tell him to find you when he's back?" I nodded but winced when he rubbed some alcohol on an infected one, I just haven't had time to sort them out as normally I treat myself with a first aid kit I keep under my bed. Dad has been training me in paramedics for as long as I can remember, sometimes I have to patch him up. But with school and exams I'm too busy studying to do anything other than that.

"You're going to need a shot of antibiotics for the infected cut once a week for a month or so" Vision said looking at the swab results, I let out a sigh but nodded.

"Don't worry, I won't tell anyone. I told the nurse who let us in that I'm reviewing your medication." I sent him a smile, as he went over to get a needle.

"Right close your eyes and take a deep breath then breath out when I tell you" I nodded and bit my lip before closing my eyes.

"Okay deep breath in. 1, 2, 3 and breath out" I followed his instructions and jolted a bit cause of the pinch I felt to my skin as the needle went in. I squeezed my eyes shut, feeling the the liquid go into my bloodstream. He took the needle out and I opened my eyes.

"Why's over half of it left?" I asked lifting my eyebrows.

"It's one shot but goes in four times in different places" I nodded and let him get on with it. Once he was done I put my t-shirt back on then I stood up just wanting to get back to my room.  

"You can go now, but if you start to feel sick or get dizzy don't worry as it's a common side effect. If you feel anything else please come and get me." I nodded and started to walk out but suddenly turned around to give him a hug.

"Thank you Vision" I then quickly turned back to walk out the room. I got out my phone out to see what time it is.

3:10pm.

Peter will be here in half an hour or so, I walked into my room and looked in my mirror. Should I put some makeup on? I bit my lip and nodded to myself. I only put some clear lipgloss on and some concealer for the now faded bruise next to my lip but just incase.

"Friday" I called out as I made my bed.

"Yes Y/N?" The A.I's voice echoed into my room.

"I'm going into my tv room, when Peter gets here will you let him in and direct him to the room?" I asked whilst getting a book from my bookshelf.

"Of course Y/N, I will let Mr Parker in" I smiled and went to one of the many doors in my room.

"Thanks Friday"

*Peter's P.O.V*

I bit onto my lip as I walked up to the FQ's security gate. I went into my bag taking a shaky breath as I got out my 'level 2' pass. Only people who live in the FQ have level 1. This is the first time I'm coming here without Happy or Mr Stark with me.

"Sorry kid, we don't do tours" A guard said as I stopped at the scanner, I gave him my pass with my name and picture on.

"Emm I'm P-Peter Parker and I'm here to see Y/N Stark. I've brought her some work cause she wasn't in school today" I said, he scanned my pass and nodded.

"Emm thanks err sir" I said and put my pass back into my bag then walked through the gate.

I walked through the main entrance and saw Mrs Sally, she's one of the receptionist that normally takes me to Mr Stark.

"Peter?" She said with a smile, Mrs Sally is a middle aged woman with dark skin and wore red lipstick every time I saw her. Her hair is always tied back into a tight bun as well.

"You haven't got a meeting with Mr Stark, is everything okay?" She added as I walked over and leant my arms on the front desk.

"Y/N missed school, I said I'll come and bring her some work. Can I go straight up?" I asked, she looked down at her computer.

"I'm guessing you don't want Mr Stark to know, he normally doesn't let boys her age near her when she's in his care" I blushed and started to drum my fingers nervously against the desk.

"If you wouldn't mind, n-not th-that anything is going to happen! W-we're just friends" I mumbled, I heard her laugh and start to type.

"You we're here yesterday as well it says on the system, so you already know Mr Stark isn't home until around five" I raised my eyebrows.

"He's not back yet?" I asked feeling a little more confident, she shook her head.

"Normally you have to sign in as you know but Y/N needs a friend right now so I'm going to let you off this once, just this once" She said, I nodded and pushed myself off the desk.

"Thanks Mrs Sally!" I called as I reached the elevator, I pressed floor two.

"Please scan your pass, full name and reason on visiting the living quarters" F.RI.D.A.Y's voice echoed into the small space. I shrugged having never done this but got my pass out and pressed it against the glowing green light in front of me.

"Err Peter Benjamin Parker and I'm here to see Y/N Stark cause she missed school and I've brought her some work" I said rambling a little.

"Welcome Mr Parker, Y/N waiting for you in her TV room. If you go into her bedroom then I will tell you which door to use" I nodded to myself as the doors to the second floor opened. I gripped onto my rucksack as I walked down the hall and to Y/N's room, along the way tripping over my feet but I caught myself at the last minute. I jumped back up and straightened myself out. Phew thank god no one saw-

"Mr Parker, are you okay?" F.R.I.D.A.Y's voice came out of nowhere chasing me to jump slightly.

"Oh yeah that I meant to do that" I said casually, she'll believe that won't she?

"You are telling me that you tripped up on purpose?"

Nope she won't.

"Yep" Was all I said mentally cringing, I soon reached Y/N's room and was about to knock.

"The door is open" F.R.I.D.A.Y said making me remember she's in her 'tv room'. I took a deep breath as the slide door opened.

"Please walk toward the door wear the keypad is glowing blue not green" I found the right door then walked over to it.

"I will tell Miss Stark that you are here, she will be with you shortly." I nodded to myself and ran a hand through my curls then pulled on my shirt. I heard the door open and my breath caught in my throats when I saw her.

She looked so simple yet so breathtaking, her eyes slightly red making be think she's been crying. I felt myself look down at her lips which were a bit shiny and so kissable-

"Peter, what happened to your face?!" She yelled slightly grabbing my hand and pulling me to the end of her bed. Wait what is she talking about?...wait oh shit I got into a fight last night with a mugger. I stared at her wide eye as she pulled my face closer to hers and lightly ran her fingertips over my bruise on my right eye, she traced it down to my lower cheekbone.

"Well?" She whispered, her hand not moving. My heart beat increased and I'm scared she will be able to feel the heat radiating off my cheeks.

"I-I-I h-hit my-my face on my bunkbed" I tried to say without telling her what actually happened or saying something creepy. Her eyebrows raised as she took her fingers away from my face, my skin already missing her touch.

"You hit your eye and not your head?" I mentally swore to myself, I felt her hand slowly take mine in hers. I watched her teeth take her bottom lips in between them, I felt myself let out a shaky breath.

"You know you can tell me anything Peter, I won't judge. You're my friend, my best friend really" Her voice getting quieter with each word, a smile broke onto my face but it soon went as I felt guilty about not telling her that I'm Spider-Man.

"I got into a fight" The words just slipped out of my mouth not realising what I said until after.

"With who?" She asked softly and brought her hand back up to my bruise but her fingers started to wonder as she noticed a scab on my lip, my mind screaming 'KISS HER, TELL HER HOW YOU FEEL!!' I held my breath, her thumb ran over the red scab but she seemed to notice what she was actually doing, killing me that is.

"Sorry" She whispered moving further away from me. All I wanted to do was grab her hips and pull her closer to my own body.

"Itsfine" I breathed out in one breath causing her to giggle making my heart skip a couple of beats as her nose scrunched up slightly.

"If was Flash" I lied, I felt guilty for lying to her but not about saying it was him. She nodded but then moved closer once again, putting her head on my shoulder.

"I hate Flash, he's brought back so many bad memories for this this week" I leaned my head onto hers, the sent of her shampoo hitting my nose.

"He's a bastard" She laughed and snuggled into my shoulder more, I wish we could do this all the time.

"Is that why you have been crying?" I whispered, she looked up at me pulling away from me slightly, it took her a couple of seconds before she nodded.

"You noticed?" She asked, I nodded myself.

"Did you get into a fight this morning? It's bruised quickly" Y/N said leaning closer to get a better look. She was obviously trying tot change the subject but I don't want to push her.

"Emm yes, my skin is sensitive and he hit me hard" She sighed, I then suddenly remembered why I'm here in the first place.

"I got you're school work, it's mostly maths cause we had double today. MJ got your art homework and there's some English, not a lot though as we watched the end of Macbeth. You had psychology as well so I asked Betty Brant to write you notes. Then on the way here I colour coded everything because I see you do it all the time." I rambled slightly but stopped when she giggled. I looked over at her to see her bright red.

"What?" I asked blushing myself.

"You noticed that I did that?" She said, I bit my lip not wanting to sound creepy.

"Yeah" I whispered, I turned to my bag which had fallen off my shoulder just a couple of minutes before.

"Here, after I wrote the math notes I also colour coded them as well." I said handing the pile of work to her.

"Thanks Pete, you're the best" She said and leaned over to kiss my cheek, her lips lingering for a little. I didn't know what to do, should I turn my head? But I couldn't as she pulled away.

"S'Okay" My voice broke causing her to laugh. I watched her look through the notes with a smile.

"Theses are perfect, thank you" I nodded, I looked down at my watch to see it's 4:15pm but something red caught my eye.

"W-Whats that?" I asked leaning over to see a drawing of my Spider-Man mask in her sketch book and fucking hell its amazing.

"O-Oh em it's you know Spider-Man. I kinda got interested in him after what happened in D.C" She whispered and her hand wrapped around her left wrist.

"Oh yeah, he saved you and Liz right?" I asked pretending that it wasn't me who actually saved them.

"Yeah" She said with a smile.

"I didn't tell dad though" She added, making me raise an eyebrow. "I didn't want him to worry, he probably wouldn't of let me out of the house again" She laughed nervously.

"Is he your favourite hero?" I asked jokingly expecting her to say no.

"Yeah, don't tell Dad. He'll kill me" She laughed again and got up to place the school work on her desk. Wait what? I'm her favourite. Fuck yes!

"Do you want to stay for a bit? You don't have to but you know if you want to we can watch something maybe." I heard Y/N say from the other side of her room not looking at me.

"Yeah!" I said a little too quickly, I cursed to myself. Y/N turned back around and came to sit down next to me again.

"Great, I get lonely around here since Steve left. Steve is Captain America by the way" She added, I laughed nodding.

"I know" I noticed her cheeks turn red but she looked over to the side, her eyes losing their glow.

"Were you two close?" I asked and timidly took her hand in mine. She looked at her with a small smile and a nod.

"Yeah, Steve would help me with my homework whilst dad was away. Which was a lot. And he was also like my big brother which is a bit weird but yeah" She sighed at the end, I kinda feel guilty now for kicking him in the face.

"I'm sure him and Mr Stark will make up soon" I trailed off trying to sound convincing but it obviously didn't work as she let out a bitter laugh.

"Thanks Peter but not going to happen" I nodded and it went quiet. I felt her hand grip onto mine tighter making my heart start to go faster and my hands started to get sweaty.

"Thank you for listening yesterday Peter, it means a lot. I-I get really self conscious when it comes to em that subject, like in class when people are talking about sex and shit I just freeze. I start to feel his body on top of me and the feel of his stubble against my cheek" I wanted her to stop as her nails started to dig into my palm, it didn't hurt just a sting but she's reliving a horrible memory. That's what makes me want her to stop. But she needs to let this out and I'm not going to stop her.

"Then I start to smell his weird scent, I don't know what it was but it was a mixture of like dirt, sweat and I don't know something else that smelt horrible." She stopped talking suddenly, noticing what she was saying.

"I'm sorry" Y/N mumbled, I noticed her eyes had now filled with tears. I wrapped my arm around her shoulder pulling her into my chest. I really don't know how I'm so confident around her now....sometimes. I'm only confident around her when she needs someone to hold her and just needs a laugh.

Her fingers gripped onto my jumper as she sobbed, I ran my own through her hair trying desperately to calm her down. I'd never seen her like this before thinking back to when she moved to my middle school in 6th grade.

(A/N okay bitch the American school system is so fucking confusing to me. So they are 11-12 I hope I got the grade and the school right.)

Y/N was always popular but for the first year or so I knew her, well knew of her, she didn't show emotion and now I guess I know why now. Recently she's been showing a lot more emotion, but she's also being crying a lot. She doesn't think I've been noticing her red, puffy, eyes or the fake smiles and the watery eyes when she thinks no one is looking. I didn't want to ask her about it as I knew she'd just change the subject.

"I'm sorry, for the past two days I've just been crying on you. I'm normally not like this but everything is just building up and getting to me" She mumbled pulling away and wiped her eyes with her palm.

"Oh I'm sorry! I've ruined your favourite jumper" She sighed and tried to wipe away the tear stains away but just made it worse.

"Hey, hey it's fine don't worry" I laughed and wiped the rest of her running tears off her cheeks. She sent me a smile and tucked a piece of her hair behind her ear.

"I can buy you a new one if you want" She sniffed and got out her phone, I gently grabbed her wrist and made her lower her arm.

"It's fine really, I think I have another one in this colour" I said looking down to check if it's the blue I'm thinking of. "Yeah I do".

"Of course you do" She giggled, I blushed looking away and bit my lip. I heard Y/N let out a sort of 'dreamy' sigh. I turned back towards her to see her already staring at me.

"You okay?" I asked, her eyes went wide and her neck started to turn a rose colour.

"Fine, fine. Just thinking about shit" Things got quiet once again and I realised that I had taken her hand in mine at some point.

"Peter?" Her soft voice cut into my thoughts.

"Hhmm?"

"Em w-what do you think of me? L-like when we were in the bathroom last week y-you said I was beautiful, and-and no one has said that to me before. Well Dad and Steve have but that doesn't count." Y/N said I turned to her with red cheeks. Oh bloody hell what am I going to say? I'm just going to make her uncomfortable and probably something creepy.

"Well-well you are beautiful, gorgeous in fact. On the inside and out, like when you smile the whole room lights up. And that glow in your eye you get when you're really happy, it just makes me happy-" I rambled on, listening all the things I love about her but the next thing I knew her hands were pulling my face towards her and our lips connected. My eyes still wide open as I stared at her closed eyelids, my mind screaming 'MOVE YOUR FUCKING LIPS, YOU'VE BEEN WANTING THIS FOR YEAR'. Her lips moved against mine trying to get mine to move but my whole body was frozen. Her hands soon left my face as she pulled away, my lips already missed her. Both of us breathing deeply, I still hadn't loved I don't think I've even blinked.

"I'm so sorry, I-I don't know-" Her voice cracked as she spoke but my body suddenly started to work again and I leaned in smashing my lips back onto hers. I didn't know what to do with my hands as hers went back up to my cheeks. Our lips moved slowly against each other's, her lips a little dry and my teeth bumped against hers a couple of time. But soon (a couple of seconds) we got used to it and shared the perfect kiss.

I felt like I was in heaven, my heart banging against my rib cage. My hands rested on her thighs and they naturally started to glide up but then I stopped and quickly pulled away realising what's actually happening. I let out a quiet groan when I saw her lips all swollen.

"I can't" I whispered, I can't do this. She's not in the best state of mind right now, she might not even know what she's doing.

"Why?" She asked, hurt laced in her voice making my heart physically hurt. I brought my hand up to her cheeks and rubbed circles with my thumb against her smooth skin.

"Y/N, you know why. No matter how much I want to and fucking hell I want to, we can't. Not right now, not when you're this emotional. Tomorrow you might remember what you did and think 'fuck, why did I do that?' When you feel better mentally then m-maybe w-we can you know, go on a date or something." She nodded and looked down, biting her lip.

"Don't do that" I mumbled, pressing my forehead against hers.

"Sorry" She giggled.

"I'd like that, I mean go on a date like that will be fun. I've never been on one before." She added and took my hands in her once again.

"Me either" I said smiling brightly, my face hurt from how wide my smile was but I didn't care. Y/N FUCKING STARK IS GOING ON A DATE WITH ME.

"Thank you for stopping Peter, that was an amazing thing to do. You're right I'm not in the right state now" She said not looking at me, I put my index finger under her chin making her look at me.

"It's okay" Her hand moved up to my cheek once again and I leaned down to kiss her nose as I held her closer.

Her head fell into my shoulder as she wrapped her arms around my neck. We stayed in that position only God knows how long but Y/N's doors opened causing us to jump apart. My eyes went wide when I saw Mr Stark raising an eyebrow at us.

"Interrupting something am I?" He asked in a stern voice, I looked at Y/N panicking but she looked so calm.

"No Daddy" She said getting up. "Peter came by to drop off my school work and was trying to make me feel better. And in all honesty I just needed a hug so I asked him and he said yes" She lied straight through her teeth as she went to hug her father. Thank god she's obviously lied to him before.

"Right, well thank you Mr Parker but you can go now. No work needed at the internship today." My face scrunched together for a second forgetting Y/N didn't know.

"Oh right em yeah. I'll see you tomorrow Y/N" I said getting my bag then started to walk over to them. I stood and stared at her with loving eyes as she sent a smile my way. Mr Stark cleared his throat and nodded to the door.

"Sweetie, I need to talk to Mr Parker about a project. Why don't you do some online shopping in your tv room whilst you wait for me and I'll come and get you after" Y/N nodded and waved at me as she walked over to the room.

"Bye Pete, I'll em text you" She said blushing making my cheeks go red as Mr Stark staring me down.

"Bye-" I tried to say but Mr Stark grabbed my elbow. Oh god I thought as I saw his face.

"Walk with me Peter" He said and started to walk down the long corridor.

"O-of course sir" I said and ran to catch up with him.

"When are you planning on telling my daughter that you're spider man" I let out a small sigh of relief as he didn't say that he was secretly spying on us and saw us kissing.

"Em I don't know, I have enemies sir and I don't want to put her in danger" I saw him nod to himself and as the lift doors opened he took his sunglasses off.

"I see your point kid, but Y/N cares for you a lot I've gathered over the past couple of days. I also looked into the school system and saw you take a lot of the same classes. Also the security cameras at the school show that you spend a lot of time together. Also her phone bill has been going up in price recently and I suspect that has something to do with you" I felt my palms get sweaty and I could hear my heartbeat in my ears. I opened my mouth to say something but he lifted his hand up stopping me.

"I'm talking, I just wanted to say thank you Peter. My daughter hasn't had the easiest life in the world we needs a friend, that friend is you. But she trusts you Mr Parker and I think you should tell her about your alter ego." I nodded not knowing what to say. I hadn't even noticed that we had reached the main entrance.

"Well that was a nice chat wasn't it, I've already got a car waiting for you. Mrs Sally seemed to forget to wipe the entrance scanner when she said you can come in without going on the system." I turned to look at him with desperate eyes.

"Mr Stark, please don't put any blame on her. It was my idea, I threatened her!" I yelled slightly causing a couple of people to look over at us, he sighed and wrapped an arm around my shoulder.

"I highly doubt that Peter, but don't worry nothing is going to happen to Mrs Sally. She's one of my best workers. Now cars outside, please sign in next time you come won't you?" Again I nodded, he patted me on the back.

"Until the next time Mr Parker, which will probably be soon as I've just got a text off Y/N asking me to ask you to come and see her again to watch a film. So I've asked you, sort it out yourself but I need to do something quickly so I can spend some time with my daughter. Bye Peter" I stood in shock for a couple of seconds, trying to proses the information.

"Right" I muttered to myself and walked towards the drive way and I saw Happy. I smiled.

"Hey Happy!" His face fell slightly when he saw me.

"Ugh get in. When Tony said he needed me to drive someone home I wasn't expecting you" He groaned and walked back to the drivers side, normally I would feel a little down that he said that but nothing could bring my mood down.

On the way back to Queens, my mind was racing and I kept on touching my lips."You alright Parker?" Happy asked, noticing my happy mood.

"Amazing" I sighed looking out of the window, the buildings becoming familiar once again. My leg started to bounce uncomfortably as I started to think about the date. What the fuck do you do on a date?

"Bye Happy!" I yelled as the car pulled up, I heard him yell my name as the car was still moving slightly. I sent him a wave and a thumbs up. I ran up the stairs all the way to my apartment, I opened the door with force causing a bang. I tripped then slid into the living arena.

"May! I need your help!" I yelled causing her to look up from the telly.

"What? Peter are you okay?!" She asks standing up, looking concerned.

"Fine! Perfect! I have a date soon" I yelled my smile covering my face once again, her own lips turned into a smile.

"With who?" May asked and walked over to me pulling me into a hug.

"Y//N! I actually have a date with Y/N!" She laughed at my excitement.

"When is it?" I shrugged getting shy.

"Em I don't know, like she's going through some things at the moment and I don't want to take advantage of her" I mumbled blushing.

"Oh Peter, I raised you well" Aunt May sighed pulled me back into a hug.

"We kissed" I muttered into her shoulder, not being able to keep it to myself any longer. I pulled away with a huge smile.

"Oh did you now?" She laughed crossing her arms, all I could do was nod and bounce on my feet.

"May you don't understand, it was the best feeling in the world. Like ugh, I've never felt this way before. After I tried to be really sweet and everything just how you taught me!" I shouted now waving my hands around.

"Peter, sweetie calm down. You're going to hyperventilate" She said grabbing my shoulders and shaking them.

"Sorry, sorry. But now you need to help me! I've never been on a date before. Please Aunt May" I pleaded with her, practically begging her.

"Of course I'll help Peter, now tell me what she likes"

*Auston’s POV*

Being late for an early morning practice was not the position you currently wanted to be in, as you exited the small coffee shop.

You had entered the shop over 15 minutes ago and hadn’t expected it to be that busy, this early in the day. Ofcourse, considering you had overslept and were already running late, something else was bound to go wrong. Hence the crowded shop.

You dodged by people, trying to make your way back to Mitch’s car. God he was going to kill you for making him late as well.

Being so focused on the car ahead, you didn’t notice the small girl infront of you until she was pressed up against your chest and your coffee was covering her shirt.

“Oh my god, I’m so sorry. I wasn’t looking and I’m kinda in a hurry.” You tried to sound sincere and not dismissive, like you were sure you did.

A small smile graced her face, “It’s fine.” She squeaked out. Her volume so quiet, you barely heard her.

“Um look I really have to go, but how about I buy you a coffee or something, sometime to make up for your shirt.”

“It’s okay, I’ve experienced a lot worse than a stained shirt. You don’t have to buy me anything.”

You were a little taken aback by her reply, expecting her to take you up on the offer, and she scurried off before you could reply.

You walked towards the car, still a little dazed, which Mitch immediately picked up on, “You alright?”

“Yeah, fine. Hurry up, gotta get to practice.”

Over the next few weeks, the mystery girl constantly plagued your thoughts, rolling around in your head.

Even though she had smiled at you, you could tell there was sadness lurking beneath, and you wanted to change that.

You returned to the small coffee shop a couple of times, hoping she was a regular or at least visited it sometime, but she was never there.

At least, until nearly a month later when she finally walked through the doors. You had just finished your coffee and were preparing to leave when you caught sight of her long brown hair and small frame.

“Hey, I don’t know if you remember me? I bumped into you in the street a few weeks ago. I spilled my coffee all down you,” you continued, hoping she’d remember, “I was hoping to catch you again.”

Confusion turned to understanding within a few minutes of her staring at you, finally recognising your face.

“Oh yeah. I already said it was fine, you really didn’t have to come back and find me.” She replied, with that small smile that never did quite reach her eyes.

“Oh I know, I just… There’s something about you, and I don’t know what it is, but I’d really love to have coffee with you, get to know you maybe?”

“Eh, yeah sure, I guess that would be okay.”

You gave her a small grin and motioned over to the table you had been sitting at a few minutes ago.

As the two of you spent the next hour or so talking, you noticed she was quite closed off and never really seemed to meet your eyes when the two of you were talking about family or friends. You just assumed she was a private person, and not very comfortable around you yet.

However, as the weeks dragged on and the coffee dates became a weekly occurrence, you noticed that as soon as family or friends was brought up she immediately closed up.

You decided that after almost 3 months of coffee dates, it was time to ask her about it.

“Hey, can I ask you something?”

“Yeah, sure Auston, what’s up?” She asked with a smile.

“Why do you always close up when I bring up friends or family, you completely change.”

You watched the smile drop off of her face and immediately regretted the decision as you watched her stutter out an apology and goodbye, and flee the shop.

You left a tip on the table and immediately rushed through the door, after her.

“Y/N, wait up.”

You finally caught up to her in the local park, where you found her sitting on one of the benches with her face in her hands.

Her sobs broke your heart and you didn’t understand what had just happened.

Sitting down next to her you placed an arm around her shoulders, trying to comfort her.

Her sobs eventually turned to sniffles, after some time, and when she raised her head, your heart broke all over again. Her eyes bloodshot and red, tear trackmarks staining her flawless complexion.

“I’m, uh, sorry for running out on you like that, it’s just when you brought up friends and family, I couldn’t stay…”

“Hey, no, you don’t have to apologise. I shouldn’t have brought it up in the first place, it’s obviously a sore subject for you and I clearly wasn’t thinking.”

A small smile graced her face at that.

“Look, I just want you to know that if you want to tell me about it, then I’m always here, but don’t feel the need to just because I want to know. It’s your private life and you share it with who you want to. I just want you to know I don’t judge and I’ll be here for you no matter what.”

The two of you had gotten close over the last three months and you wanted to show her that she was supported and had love from you, no matter what.

“I appreciate that, Auston. I know it’s gonna be hard for me to talk about this, but you deserve to know.”

You grabbed her hand as a sign of comfort.

“I lost my mum and dad in a car accident a few years ago. We were travelling to go see my aunt, some drunk driver crashed straight into us and they both died on impact. I took it really hard, as you can imagine, and I cut myself off from everyone as a result. I stopped speaking to my friends, stopped going to school, it was all just too much for me to handle. I felt like I was worthless without them and I didn’t know what to do. I learned how to do things for myself and how to take care of myself, but it didn’t make things any easier. The last few years have been hell for me, and I haven’t wanted to be around anyone. That was until you bumped into me on the street. Staring into your eyes, I felt a way I hadn’t since my parents died. It was like a second chance. These past few months you’ve given me an outlet for my sadness and helped me to see the world in a way I haven’t for quite sometime now. The reason I ran out was because I didn’t want you to think different of me, I’ve enjoyed having someone treat me like a normal person for once.”

As she finished, you sat awestruck by what she had gone through and how difficult her life had been. You felt a sense of protection and care for the girl, even more than you had before, now.

“Wow, I honestly don’t know what to say. You’ve been through one of the worst things imaginable and done it all alone. I want you to know that even though you may think you’re better alone, that you don’t have to be. I promise that I’ll try to at least help you feel somewhat normal, and help you to see the beauty in the world you may think is no longer there. I know it is because I’m looking at it right now. I’m always gonna be here from now on, you don’t have to go through this alone anymore.

Genuinely so frustrating, esp given that placing Alex at the DEO, Nia at Catco, and Kelly at Obsidian and giving each of them the majority of screentime w/r/t those places could've woven them well into the larger plots and also connected them to other characters much more smoothly than just tossing them into crisis and a couple game nights.

Nobody asked me, but my poor real life friends are withering listening to me talk in circles about the friggin cw.

A little less space for Malefic, Non Nocere, and William's whole deal, and those three women could've set up much a stronger season that we'd be reaping the benefits of right now.

Alex starting 5a at the DEO by having a personal reckoning with the organization's abuses of power could've inspired the need for the tower (instead of this "lol lex made a good thing bad so let's bail" narrative) and a break from the DEO. It would've given reason for Alex to visit Lena before the reveal reveal so that great S4 friendship development wouldn't have just gone poof. Plus it would've given Alex and Kelly reason to talk about the intracacies of her work and helped us to see how folded in Kelly is to Alex's life and sowed seeds earlier for Kelly to get nervous of the danger Alex is always in and almost dump her gradually instead of that being a 1.5 ep conflict.

I've been waiting for years for Alex to realize that the DEO is pretty uhhh bad, and that it's also not offering her enough access to offset how much damage she's attached to with it.

Kelly at Obsidian would have every reason to be the person in our main cast who gets closest to Andrea before we find out about her history with Lena. Kelly being in awe of Andrea, of the empire she's building and her technology, and being so ready to throw herself into an exciting new opportunity in National City, establishing a rapport with a single person who didn't know and love her brother first, just because.

But then Lena comes to her out of the blue asking for access to those lenses, sweetly but sort of cryptically suggesting that Andrea simply doesn't want her to use them because they're in a rich woman proprietary standoff or something, and that combined with some concerns reporter friend Nia brings to her convinces Kelly that maybe something else is happening.

Which leads to Kelly sleuthing a bit to figure out the boss even while admitting to Alex that she hates the stakes of it and it makes her v nervous because she's a rule follower and super transparent everywhere in life. And Alex being protective Alex might ask J'onn to help Kelly directly, PI-style, just to be sure Kelly's safe, so we get scenes of Kelly with space dad still, but no meaningless ability to see Malefic that only comes up once and also proof that J'onn actually does the job he left the DEO for.

And when Kelly finds out something weird is definitely up, she can also loop in Kara and Nia. It would be so much easier to understand what Kelly does and doesn't know about the superfriends (whether she knows Kara's super secret), and to make her important both with and independently of Alex.

And also, while I know James needed a sendoff and I liked the Olsen siblings sharing a screen, we absolutely could've cut the Malefic threat plot, kept Kelly at work for that one friday or whatever when she got briefly witsec'd, and James absolutely could've just been like "wow, my little sister is settling in so nicely and hanging with my friends and I love that, but also I want to find a job as fulfilling as hers" and then went home to soul search by himself for 4 scenes or whatever. She got so little screentime and she could've just been in a split screen phone call eating pancakes with Alex while James told her he was gonna retire Guardian, collect a nice orphan, and buy a paper.

Nia having the main Catco storyline while Kara lowkey neglects her job the way she probs always does would be a great time to actually see what a reporter even does in the sg world. 4 years of reporting and Kara has a pulitzer but also doesn't do her own edits?? And is her own main source half the time??? And gets mad when ppl call her out for being late????

Why not let Nia show us that she's got a knack for figuring out stories and also that the show knows that Kara needs help to keep her job sometimes. And that Kara mentored someone and did a good job of it offscreen.

Nia shouldve been doing the unsexy work of being in the office and doing paperwork and quietly noticing that William is a shady guy with no wife and too many secrets and tailing him herself. She should've been reaching out to Kelly as a "hey i know we're only new friends but wtf are these contact lenses?" And writing up a properly sourced article about them that makes Kara proud.

Or Nia could've been googling her brand new, super hot but sorta mean boss and realizing Andrea used to be in headlines with Lena until suddenly, one day, they seemed to start avoiding each other and now Andrea seems fishy, but calling on Kara to help her investigate out of concern for Lena. She could even run into William and his whole "my bestie is missing and this woman is guilty" theory along the way on the trail for evidence. He doesn't need multiple eps to bang his fist on a table and say he wants the truth, but could totally be her sidekick for a little while. She can even use dream powers when he isn't looking instead of a bunch of scenes of kara trying not to out herself as sg in front of him.

Nia is a main character and has been for a year. We already know and love her, but good lord if we're never gonna speak of her family again i need her to have something outside of occasionally breaking up with brainy or showing up to use a flashy dream power. She's cute and funny and might just be good at her job, unlike Kara, who I love but needs to one day admit that there aren't enough hours in the day to super around and work and fight to maintain your passionate friendship and mourn your worlds and moms and manage your emotions.

These three women, our whole canon sg lgbt squad, could've propelled the same major bits of plot and they would've given Kara and Lena more room to do their whole thing so that I wouldn't be constantly be getting whiplash from all that Kara has to be present for and also so that a man wouldn't have had to explain, correctly, that Kara doesn't do her job while we the audience had to pretend she does.

And also i wouldn't have been bored through needless contrived romantic drama that disappears as quickly as it materializes. And I might believe that the superfriends are all friends with each other instead of all the friends kara routinely forces into rooms together.

I'm aware that I'm just rambling about them all at this point, but i feel so robbed and i hate knowing that it was not only mostly because the show wants that good lgbt clout without putting in work, but also at the expense of a more focused story with just a few fewer plot points.

And also the optics of a 5a that brought together every superfriend in a way that strengthened the bonds we see while also pushing lena to feel more alienated from them because, even when they aren't aware of the rift, everybody is on eggshells trying to protect her since kara is so anxious about their relationship. Like seeing Alex and Kelly and Nia express concern about Lena's proximity to sketchy Andrea, or her reliance on virtual technology, but knowing that Lena thinks she's just being left out of a bigger secret, which is why her anger and distrust get so much bigger than Kara.

I just. I cannot believe how into this show I get when I routinely get crumbs of rep.

i mean im sad for dansen fans who expect to see more of their ship in an episode and only end up getting three seconds of content but as a sanvers fan im sitting here like

i mean it in a ‘what do you expect from a show thats been treating its canon lesbian like absolute shit since almost the very beginning’ kind of way. these writers – the ones who dont even know what to do with alex as a character anymore – dont give a shit about their lgbt+ audience or characters. it’s the same reason why supercorp will never happen. it’s the same reason nia has been mostly forgotten until last episode and even then it was all about her break up with brainy. they use us to get the ratings and online stirs but do not mistake that for them caring.
