one specific random thing that sometimes reoccurs to me out of the blue and bothers me for the last 20 something years...

Back in the day on Cartoon Network used to be a very unpopular show called the Problem Solvers which was pretty awful by all standards, and even in this age of constant nostalgia and better Western appreciation for animation as a medium for adults, I really don't think there was a single fan of that show. No one seemed to ever like the garish visuals and the bad lolrandom videpgame humor which already feels very dated and I certainly am not one of them either... But. When I recall the fact that this show was originally pitched as a thing for *adult swim*, as in, the block for the jaded 25-50 Year-Old 3AM insomniacs and college stoner crowd, not the kids but the people who just want to put on TV in the background at a party or to fall asleep and have fever dreams to, or a watch of something surreal dumb and visually insane with their pot brownies, it just makes a whole lot better sense. This should have been a show like Space Ghost or Metalocalypse or Xavier Renegade Angel or Aqua Teen. Probably would not have been one of the better ones. But it still would have fitted and not a soul would have personally taken offense because everyone would know exactly what it was for and potentially gained a cult following there. But for some reason some geniuses thought this was a good show for the younger crowd and I really can't help but wonder how many shows or films got shoved into a totally misplaced demographic like that and thus got ruined, and subsequently panned or ignored just on that basis alone. Regular Show is the only cartoon I know of that went through that exact same retooling, and actually came out the other end the better for it. I really got to wonder how many lost potential for films, show pilots or even lost whole channel blocks even of programming got destroyed this way. ...(Ralph backshi's film "cool world", and the flawed but interesting stopmotion comedy "Monkey Bone" is another example....)

All the jokes about Ken and horses are good but I just wanna say it's such a good parallel to how actual young men get swept into misogyny and the patriarchy.

Like they're told to believe it means men get to be cool and manly and have this power but with that comes extremely rigid commands of what they can be as a man and a cycle of self hatred for never matching those gender roles perfectly. Patriarchy tells men that if they just do exactly what is expected of them, then they get all the "cool stuff" that comes with. That doesn't work though when there's only a small group that actually gets that power, but men will keep trying to fit into those roles in hopes that they can.

In the end there are no horses or the myth men are told, it's just endless cycles of self hatred and ingroup fighting.

Shenker-Osorio says the left’s enemy isn’t the right, it’s cynicism. The problem isn’t that authoritarians want to erase the division between church and state, or take away our right to control our bodies. The problem is that this minority can get away with these unpopular proposals because the people who disagree with them think nothing can be done to stop them. For Shenker-Osorio, the tonic for this is to switch from the negative framing (“abolish ICE”) to positive ones: “respect all families.” Rather than saying “end the climate emergency,” she wants us to call for “ensuring clean, safe air to breathe and water to drink.” When the right says they want to cut taxes to improve the economy, we counter with, “we’ll raise wages and increase consumption, which is better for the economy.” Shenker-Osorio proposes a three-step method for changing minds. First, identify a shared value (“people who work for living ought to earn a living”). Move on to a problem (“our divisions distract us while rich people pick our pockets and hand the spoils to their corporate cronies”). And then, the solution: “rewrite the rules so that the wealthiest few pay what they owe and all of us have what we need for generations to come.”

Fic where Wanda does not get snapped. Westview happens during the blip.

At some point before Westview, Wanda visits Tony at the lake house (maybe she wants him to make the government give her Vision's body back). Tony, deep in his grief and just wanting to be with Pepper and baby Morgan, doesn't help as much as she wants him to.

Before leaving, already very unhinged, Wanda offers to take Tony's memories of Peter away. She phrases it like an act of compassion, since she can sense the depths of his pain. But Tony perceives it as a threat. And it's one that, especially during and after Westview, he knows she's powerful enough to achieve

So, he calls a wizard. He begs Wong to do a spell to protect his memories of Peter from ever being harmed by magic

Fast forward to NWH. Tony has been in a coma ever since the battle with Thanos. He finally wakes up, and he's so grateful to be with his family, but he doesn't understand why a certain teenager is not there

It doesn't take long for Tony to realize that no one else remembers Peter. May is dead. The kid is alone, erased, forgotten by everyone

But not by him. Because of a witch's threat and his own paranoia, his memories are safe.

And now it's time to go get his kid
