You know what, fuck it, I have to speak my truth! (this is gonna be a rant, so anyone who actually likes assassin's creed revelations and/or the secret crusade, be warned or maybe don't read this at all)
remember how altaĆÆr talks to king richard at the end of ac1, and richard is like "[humans] come into the world kicking and screaming, violent and unstable. it is what we are. we cannot help ourselves."? and how altaĆÆr answers "no. we are what we choose to be." and how that ACTUALLY has meaning bc he himself was "violent and unstable" at the beginning of the game but he has learned and is now CHOOSING to be a better person who cares about others and humanity at large? remember how his calmness and gentleness was something that he ACQUIRED over the course of the story?
and remember how in revelations they then suddenly had a PRE-AC1 altaĆÆr say about the first of his targets "no man should pass from this world without knowing some kindness." and be all wise and calm and collected during a nice little chat with al mualim, who suddenly acts all fatherly? (like, this is suddenly supposed to be a positive relationship? what??)
also, during the confession the target says to altair: "you put too much faith in the hearts of men, altaĆÆr. [...] humans are weak, base, and petty." and altaĆÆr answers: "no. our creed is evidence to the contrary." KJASJFJDKL???? like, itā€™s almost insulting how close this exchange is to the one with richard. you know, the one that was actually earned after a whole game of character development. like WTF??? cool congrats now that development means nothing. like, apparently that was just altaĆÆr reverting BACK to being the exemplary assassin who understands and believes in the creed that he was apparently just born as. (i also hate how having a young inexperienced altaĆÆr saying this implies that altaĆÆr's faith in humanity is a sign of naivete instead of a sign of the wisdom he has gained after being confronted with counter arguments for a whole game, and also something that distinguishes the assassins from the templars who use humanity's supposed wickedness to justify controlling them like in AC1, but whatever)
altaĆÆrā€™s development in AC1 mattered BECAUSE he is not NATURALLY a good person, it actually said something about humanity's capacity for both bad AND good and how humans don't have to be forced to be good through mind control bc they can by their own free will choose to be better when taught how and when allowed the freedom to grow. but no. apparently altaĆÆr has just always been calm, wise and gentle. and he just sort of forgot about that during AC1 bcā€¦. ? bc of adha?? bc of abbas???
oh donā€™t get me started on the whole abbas thing. (it doesnt even make sense that abbas is so hung up about his father and "his familyā€™s honor", like what about the whole point of al mualim not allowing parents to be close to their children bc it would make them weak? like, my dude, youā€™re not supposed to HAVE any family aside from the brotherhood)
they used the throwaway character that had like 5 lines and made him into altaĆÆrā€™s main antagonist in revelationsā€¦ like, abbas wasnā€™t supposed to be this ONE dude who had personal beef with altaĆÆr, he was just supposed to show how while altaĆÆrā€™s revered by many, a lot of his brothers also hate him, bc 1) altaĆÆr is a shitty person at this point and 2) bc thereā€™s no real feeling of community and family in this version of the brotherhood, but just a pervasive sense of competition and jealousy ā€” these assassins donā€™t care about their goal of safeguarding humanity bc theyā€™re too hung up on petty squabbles and divided by rivalries (you know, the things that made malik hate altaĆÆr even before solomonā€™s temple and that he overcomes in the end which enables him to forgive and to reconcile with altaĆÆr so they can work together and stop al mualim? (you ever just think about "we are one. as we share the glory of our victories, so too should we share the pain of our defeat. in this way we grow closer. we grow stronger." and cry? bc i do. all the time. malik, the man that you are))
and now abbas is altaĆÆrā€™s childhood best friend turned lifelong enemy?? like, bowden bent over backwards to come up with an explanation for why altaĆÆr is an arrogant ass at the beginning of AC1, when the explanation is right there: he was raised to kill without asking questions and was constantly praised for how good he is at murder, which resulted in him becoming arrogant and disregarding human life. like, it doesnā€™t have to be some shakespearean family feud type shit. and guess what, this "simple" explanation actually plays into the storyā€™s themes, whoā€™da thunk!
(like, abbas might not have been a "fleshed out" character in AC1, but he had a specific function and now that function is gone. mr bowden, mr mcdevitt, you know characters are allowed to simply exist to tell us something about their worlds and the systems they live in and sometimes thatā€™s more important and also more interesting than having every single character have a detailed backstory to explain all their behaviors, right?)
with all of this revelations loses all nuance in regards to the levantine brotherhood and also the creed in general. like, altaĆÆr being a master assassin at the beginning despite being a terrible person and not actually understanding the creed is a criticism of the brotherhood and the creed itself. like, it said something about the order that someone like altaĆÆr was able to get that high in rank, simply bc he's good at killing, which also tells us what is considered important in the al mualim era assassin order. when you make altaĆÆrā€™s arrogance the result of his personal conflicts instead of how we was raised by a brotherhood that only valued one's ability to kill, you lose that characterization of the assassin order itself!
and by suddenly making al mualim a semi good "father figure" you also downplay his manipulation of not only altaĆÆr but all those under his care. (altaĆÆr says something about al mualim being "as a father" to him exactly twice in the codex, but he doesnā€™t mean by that that he WAS a father to him, what he means is that he was the CLOSEST THING he had bc HE DID NOT HAVE PARENTS, not because his mother died in childbirth and his father was executed when he was young btw, BUT BECAUSE IT WASNā€™T ALLOWED, like his parents actually lived but werenā€™t allowed to be close to him, he says he came to view al mualimā€™s "weak and dishonest" love as enough and even better BECAUSE HE HAD NOTHING ELSE, BECAUSE AL MUALIM ISOLATED HIS ASSASSINS FROM THEIR FAMILIES. al mualim "loved" him bc he was good at killing people for him! hm, i wonder if this could be trying to say anything about cults and indoctrination and the inherent contradiction in fighting for peace and free will by taking children away from their parents and raising them to become killers?? like, altaĆÆr wasn't ~the special orphan boy~ taken in by al mualim bc his father died a hero's death, it was "the way of the order" to have al mualim be the closest thing to a parental figure for everyone to ensure absolute loyalty! altaĆÆr saying al mualim was like his father is not supposed to make you go "oh, he must have actually been a good guy for altaĆÆr to consider him a father", it should make you go "oh that's kinda fucked up that he considers the dude who made him into a killing machine and who manipulated him a sort of father figure"!)
and then in revelations they suddenly portray that relationship as positive and healthy??? like, it would be one thing to give it some nuance by delving into the psychology behind al mualimā€™s "love" and maybe showing how al mualim did care about altair in a complicated, fraught sort of way (like, you know, thereā€™s a lot of interesting things you could say about al mualim at several points addressing altaĆÆr as "my child" in AC1 and how that parallels Garnier referring to the people he drugged and abused as his "children", and what that says about how the templars view the people who they say they want to save and in whose best interests they supposedly act (in any case, al mualim doesnā€™t use that phrase because he has any real parental feelings but rather to patronize and to invalidate any objections, like in a "mother knows best" way))
but they even fucking DARE to parallel that relationship with that of altaĆÆr and darim in revelations, by having the reflection in the puddle of darim hugging altaĆÆr showing altaĆÆr hugging al mualimā€¦. like their relationship wasnā€™t inherently abusive but just tragically cut short because al mualim was just "corrupted by the apple"ā€¦ like WHAT???? so itā€™s not the very real problems like grooming, manipulation and indoctrination and the hierarchical structure of the brotherhood itself (all of which are antithetical to the assassin ideology), it was just the evil apple all along. great. thatā€™s DEFINITELY a lot more interesting.
god im sorry i really dont want to spread negativity but this is driving me INSANE. like, somebody please tell me im not crazy bc i feel like somehow most of the fandom is in agreement that revelations and the secret crusade have better storytelling and characterization than ac1.
SPEAKING OF WHICH, can we talk about how, even IF we completely ignore AC1 and treat revelations altaĆÆr as his own characterā€¦. the narrative still doesnā€™t really work?
basically, the whole point of his story in rev is that "he gave his whole life to the brotherhood", this obsession led to him not using his time with his family which has him ending up dying alone in a dark library and this in turn makes ezio reevaluate his life choicesā€¦. except. he doesnā€™t? neglect? his family? or whatever? like, his devotion to the assassins is sort of painted as this tragic flaw that leads to a lonely death bc it supposedly comes at the cost of his family, butā€¦ his wife has joined the assassins, (at least) one of his sons is in the brotherhood and even when he goes to protect the assassins against the mongols, he takes his family with him (except for the son who stays behind bc he has a family of his own and who, ironically, ends up dying bc of that)ā€¦ like, you canā€™t describe altaĆÆr as a good husband and father in the database and have his son tell him that "everything that is good in me began with you, father" when they say goodbye, and then want to make us believe that he put his family behind the brotherhood and that that is a character flaw that leads to his tragedy.
because you HAVE to have a characterā€™s tragedy be the result of a character flaw. like. that is how tragedies work. otherwise it just becomes tragedy for the sake of tragedy which isā€¦ boring bc it has no purpose. and we know it is SUPPOSED to have purpose bc ezIO FUCKING QUITS BEING AN ASSASSIN AFTER WITNESSING IT!
itā€™s like they want to have their cake and eat it, too ā€” they didnā€™t want to actually make altaĆÆr a bad husband/father, but still wanted to make his life a tragedy where he loses his family which is why instead they outsource all responsibility to abbas who now has to be the reason for ALL the deaths.
like, they try to make at least mariaā€™s death kind of sort of the result of altaĆÆrā€™s rashness or whatever but likeā€¦ these guys KILLED THEIR SON and TOLD HIM THAT ALTAƏR HAD ORDERED HIS DEATH. like, altaĆÆr losing it in response to that is not rash, itā€™s fucking logical and justified! if anything the scene made me angry at maria for trying to stop him. like, GIRL, he was YOUR son too??? but god forbid we give female characters actual real emotions, she has to fill the role of "voice of reason who dies for altaĆÆrā€™s man pain" i fucking guess.
like, itā€™s this weird mix where his tragedy is simultaneously painted as his own fault but also not really bc abbas is the one responsible for all the shit that happens. it justā€¦ it just doesnā€™t really go together.
the only way to make his story make sense narratively and to give it actual purpose is by looking at it in the context of ezioā€™s story, bc the things he sees in altaĆÆrā€™s memories are supposed to be a revelation (ha!) to ezio specifically. and i guess thatā€™s maybe the crux of it all ā€” altaĆÆrā€™s story in revelations was conceived of first and foremost to support ezioā€™s story and development. which is probably also why many people maybe donā€™t notice bc, having skipped ac1 and started with ac2, the majority of people mostly care only about ezio and only really appreciate altaĆÆrā€™s story in as far as it serves to push ezio forward. (tho iā€™ve also seen a few people say that ezio is also written kind of weird in rev, but iā€™ve never really been an ezio girly myself so i canā€™t speak to the truth of that)
like, altaĆÆr dying alone in the library doesnā€™t really have to make sense for his character, i guess, bc itā€™s only really supposed to be a cautionary tale for ezio.
so, i guess, for once, they actually had a MAN dying for another manā€™s character development, which is pretty woke actually. ubisoft, i take everything back jksdsfjhgdsahfhsdhfghfdsgjhsdgjh
#assassins creed#ac1#altair ibn la'ahad#malik al-sayf#ezio auditore#asscreed#rant#long post#this is killing me#i even started rereading the secret crusade bc i thought maybe i remember it being worse than it is#but honestly its the opposite#even just the fact that in the secret crusade altair always says some last sentence after his targets' confessions#has me so irrationally angry aksjdfh#like over sibrands body he says something like 'may death be merciful' or something#like? did they want that to be like requiescat in pace or something???#like aside from the fact that altair WOULD NOT FUCKING SAY THESE THINGS#it also just destroys the tension built up by the target's last words#like... i do think it was very much on purpose that the target always had the last word in the confessions#sigh whatever its just a stupid video game from over 15 years ago who cares#(me. i care. unfortunately. i wish i didn't. send help please.)#also the fact that bowden just completely fucked up arabic naming conventions with the whole ā€œumar/darim ibn la'ahadā€ thing#(which is kind of an achievement considering that wasn't too great in ac1 to begin with)#tho bc of that they kind of inadvertantly ended up implying that roshan is altairs ancestor which i actually kind of like lol#anyways sorry for this giant wall of text#this is probably (definitely) the longest post i've ever made lmsadjf#but i do think i've gotten most of it off my chest.... maybe#maybe ill add stuff if i come across something else that makes me angry lol#sorry i know i promised an essay and instead delivered a rant#i just dont think i have the capacity to actually structure my thoughts any better kajdsf

my thoughts on the wwdits final are very mixed. on one hand, i understand what they were trying to do with the ending and how the characters lives will go on without the doc crew filming. none of the episode arcs are finished and thereā€™s no real conclusion because the crew abruptly left. but on the other hand, as an audience that feels unsatisfying. nothing was wrapped up, no goodbyes or send offs. it just stopped. and i think thatā€™s a completely valid criticism no matter what they intended.
if they wanted that ending to work i think they should have built up to it a little more. like many have suggested, setting up that the doc is ending earlier in the season. i personally think they should have hinted that funding was running out by slowly cutting side characters screentime and using less cameras. by the end thereā€™s only one camera left and thatā€™s when they break the news. guillermoā€™s sad and confused but everyoneā€™s like ā€œhow did you not notice?ā€ it would have made it feel less rushed and given a reason for guillermo to join cannon capital. it also would explain why so many side characters were sidelined this season. sean gets one ep and then isnā€™t really seen again. the guide is hardly present. the baron isnā€™t seen after ep 9. i think they could have played a lot into it.
another idea i had about changing the final was that colin robinson is revealed to be behind the doc. like a post credit scene where he tells the camera that the doc was all his doing and he just cut the funding for it. the doc was just an excuse to always have someone around to drain or reveal that he can even drain through the camera so heā€™s been draining us, the audience, the whole time. or maybe he reveals that heā€™s been the one editing the doc and heā€™s been cutting out all the real juicy bits (like a nandermo secret relationship). he got bored with it or got what he wanted out of it. maybe even a tease like ā€œin a couple years iā€™ll probably do this all again.ā€ implying that he was behind the older doc as well.
i just feel like something silly like colin ending the doc for nefarious reasons and implying that he edits it would have at least made more sense and felt somewhat like closure. like colinā€™s mischief was the reason we didnā€™t get to see a goodbye. he could even admit that they filmed some but this would be a better drain. eyes flash blue and the rest of the credits roll. colin has the last laugh.

I'm here to cause drama. Worst characteristics of eachother and their kids?
Nemesis: There has never been an easier question, Hecate, how do i describe it? She doesn't hold herself like a god of her power really should, I am used to dealing with gods of all kinds acting as if they are more powerful or command more authority than they do but Hecate has the opposite problem. I feel no shame in admitting she's more powerful than me but the way she acts wouldn't tell you that. She acts like a mortal and it especially shows with her children. It's honestly embarrassing. Torrington has the opposite problem where he acts like hubris is all he has, if he wasn't Hecate's son he would be dead.
Hecate: Awfully long complaint.
Nemesis: And I stand by it. Morpheus doesn't have inhibitions and it's going to get him killed. He's only second to Eris in that regard and that is not a good thing. I... I don't have anything against his children considering I know nothing about any of them. hmm, I don't think Rachel has the spine for here and my son was wasting his time on her.
Morpheus: Why- You know what nevermind. Nemesis, as I've said before, is far too ruthless. I acknowledge that's apart of her job but it doesn't mean it should reflect on us or her own kids. The thing I hate about Ethan is that he pushes all that aside, I understand why but it doesn't mean I don't dislike it. It's pitiful. Hecate isn't the most trustworthy goddess to have on our side and I'm not entirely certain she would stay on our side should something go wrong. Torrington is so fiercely loyal to his mother that it becomes the same problem as before,it's almost amplified consider Torrington leads basically all his siblings plus members of the army. If Hecate chooses to leave our side we'd have quite the uphill battle ahead of us. I should clarify that 'our side' mean mine and Nemesis', what I said about her is true but she is my closest ally here, she's always been, she's the reason I'm here after all.
Hecate: I don't have much against either of them, and especially not their kids. Morpheus is incredibly cryptic and strange. Even on a good day it's hard to trust him and I suppose Rachel shares that quality, even if it's out of her control. Nemesis keeps trying to tell me how to raise my kids and it's getting a little annoying. Ethan does tend to act incredibly skttish in front of people he sees as authority and it's a little uncomfortable.

lowkey wanna drop this post about ibuprofen vs naproxen (im a med student and i have a masters degree in pharmacology so those are my credentials xD).
(cw pharm mumbo-jumbo) buck's allergic to naproxen, which is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). Ibuprofen is also an NSAID. these both are different in their mechanism of action, because ibuprofen is non-selective in blocking COX-1 and COX-2, and naproxen is selective for COX-1 only. this leads to some overlap, but not a lot in terms of allergic reactions. (there's like. a helluva lot of biochem involved in this so im not gonna go into it but basically, they're not the same drug)
now, some people will have you avoid NSAIDs altogether if you're allergic to one, particularly if you have a super adverse reaction to one. so if buck were to have severe reactions to naproxen like anaphylaxis, he probably should not be having ibuprofen just for the risk of another adverse reactions (and get an epi-pen dude).
however, we don't know what his allergic reaction is. if he has a milder reaction, like...maybe hives, GI upset, or something, he still might be able to take ibuprofen with no problem at all. and honestly, if he has ibuprofen in his own apartment, he probably can take it with no problem xD so...im so sorry, but it's not quite the plot hole or catch-all that you might think it is xD

šŒššššœš” š®š© šŸšØš« @waffledforbreakfast
Your ideal match isā€¦Michael Kaiser!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
ā™” You both met through you starting a random conversation with him, and because you managed to ask the right questions, he was happy to answer them. The compliments you gave him helped as well. He was practically preening like a peacock the whole time. But there was this...glint in your eyes, a calculating one, like you were trying to figure him out. He was mostly creeped out, but also intrigued, which lead him to give you his phone number so you both can continue talking sometime again. He is not flirting, what are you talking about?
ā™” (You didn't put psychology or philosophy in your likes, but since you used them in an example for setting up a conversation, I'm assuming you do like talking about them!) Kaiser would love to talk about psychology with you! He doesn't often meet people who are interested in it like him, and he isn't interested in talking about psychology with just anyone. It's the topic you both end up talking about the most actually. As for philosophy, it depends on the questions you ask him. But normally he doesn't bring up philosophy in conversations.
ā™” Kaiser is the opposite of a people pleaser. Even when trying to befriend Ness, he doesn't act like anything other than his brash and confidant self. He has strong opinions and values and refuses to compromise on them. Rather than change himself to fit in with everyone else, he would rather change the world to suit what he wants. An exaggeration, but you get the gist. Perhaps this quality would be attractive to you.
ā™” Kaiser will tell you he doesn't celebrate holidays, but won't protest if you urge him to celebrate with you. Especially if you invite him to do something with you on Christmas. He was happy to make snow angels and gingerbread houses with you, watch a Christmas movie, eat at a nice place. He doesn't tell you his birthday until you both start dating, so at the time you didn't know when his birthday was. You couldn't help but notice that he looked pensive that day, but chose not to comment on it as he took your hand, pulling you towards the Christmas decorations to take some selfies.
ā™” He's never tried ice or roller skating before. You offered to teach him, promising that it'll be fun once he gets used to it. He agreed because why not? In hindsight, he should have called you a liar and refused your offer. He never gets the hang of it. He's clutching your arm the whole time for balance, and even then, he falls a few times (for you /j). He can run, he can kick a ball and score goals, but skating is not for him. He gives up after three failed sessions and falling flat on his ass.
ā™” So you like straightforwardness (long ass word). Luckily for you, Kaiser is very straightforward. When he wants to tell someone something, he's very direct about it. If he doesn't want to reveal something, he simply won't. Take that how you will. This trait of his really helped speed up his confession process. Once he realised he liked you, which took a few months because his emotions are either repressed or too tumultuous for him to figure out, he started preparing for the best (and most extra) confession you've ever seen. On Valentine's day, because he's cheesy like that.
ā™” He likes that you tend to think logically, because he does too. This makes communication between the two of you easier, as you're usually on similar wavelengths. He doesn't think displaying emotions are a sign of weaknesses, but he does find them unnecessary or even a bother sometimes. He doesn't think his emotions should affect his performance, just like you. Get therapy, the both of you.
ā™” You like cats? That's great, Kaiser is one. You know those golden retriever boyfriends? Kaiser is NOT one of them. He's the black cat in the relationship. Kaiser strikes me as an ambivert rather than a full extrovert, he needs his alone time sometimes. He's reserved and mysterious, or at least somewhat secretive, about his past. Also, he would mess with your things in front of you when you're distracted and he wants your attention. Smiles when you slap his hand away.
ā™” Kaiser also hates it when it's too sunny and dreads getting sunburnt, so he brings a parasol with him when he sees that it's going to be a sunny day. He's a gentleman and holds the umbrella over the both of you so you can be shaded from the sun as well.
ā™” Acts of service is one of Kaiser's main love languages! As mentioned in the point above, he likes to do little things for you, especially if you've had a bad day. He'll make you coffee in the morning, carry your things when you both go shopping together, walk just a touch faster than you so he can open doors before you do.
ā™” He also loves receiving acts of service, somewhat because he's not that great at taking care of himself? Or rather he just does the bare minimum and sometimes goes into a period of overworking himself. Not great either way. Remind him to take breaks once a while, bring him a snack while he's watching game footage on the screen. He'll melt into a happy mess the moment you leave the room.
ā™” Kaiser likes giving gifts. It was a big part of his courting process, his confession and the first few months of your relationship. At first, they're traditional romantic stuff like flowers, a few stuffed toys, sweets and chocolates. As he got to know your preferences over time, his gifts became more personalised to you. Frozen berries especially, since they're easy to buy and you finish them quickly. He'll buy you wigs and costumes for your cosplay too, if you're fine with him buying you expensive things. I say take advantage of his money.
ā™” Kaiser also likes physical touch, in the form of always having his hand on you some way or another. On your lap when you both eat together, side by side. Over your shoulders while he waits for you to be done talking to your friends after having lunch together. In your back pocket while you both walk back to his car. He isn't a big hugger or kisser, his affection is in the constant weight on your skin.
ā™” "Relatives tell me [...] I worry too much for my future." This is Kaiser we're talking about here. When is he ever not worrying about his future? Even when he was younger and living with his father, he was saving up money to run away in the future. So yes, Kaiser is always thinking about his future, how to gain success and security. He won't tell you not to worry so much, that clearly isn't the philosophy he has, but he will help you to come up with concrete goals and a plan of action, a few backup plans even. To him, you should worry about your future, and take small steps to build the future that you hope for instead of worrying for no reason. That's just anxiety.
ā™” You having no problem with telling people when you disagree with them works well for Kaiser actually. He's kinda...into it? Not actual fights of course, just minor disagreements or debates. He treats them like playful arguments. It's enrichment for him. You know the "can we keep arguing it was turning me on" meme? Yeag.
ā™” The idea of writing a few realistic headcanons for your dynamic (while still keeping an element of movie magic to it) compelled me so much. This is probably not something most people would opt for, so thank you for giving me the creative liberty. >:)
ā™” The way you describe what you can offer in a relationship is so detailed and reminiscent of what one should do in order to be an "ideal" partner. Almost as if you studied the concept. Given Kaiser's motivation to study psychology, he definitely did the same thing, especially since he's genuinely interested in trying out a romantic relationship. He doesn't do anything half-assed; he puts his all into it. Your honeymoon period is passionate and sweet, but with a hint of...coldness and evaluation hidden beneath the surface? Like the period where new lovers are too nervous to show their more authentic selves to each other stretched across months between good morning texts and flowers delivered to your door.
ā™” The way you view relationships and speak so nonchalantly about cutting ties with people sounds a lot like avoidant attachment style. And guess what? Kaiser definitely has it too. This spells out doom for the relationship from the beginning, but honestly, I didn't match you with him just to write about a fairytale happily ever after for you both. Because let's be honest, you both are probably constantly on high alert for when things become too vulnerable or if the other party isn't worth the effort you're putting into the relationship.
ā™” A long-term relationship for the both of you is going to take a lot of work, even more so than the average couple. It's up to you both to decide whether or not it's worth fighting for.
ā™” And even if it doesn't work out, wasn't it beautiful all the same?
Flowers just because, especially roses, iced coffee and silk sheets, matching glasses, bringing each other a snack while working, visiting malls around Christmas to admire the decorations, long discussions, playful arguments as a way of flirting, ironic smirks, testing the reactions of others, sharing earphones on the bus, oversized hoodies, late night drives, city lights from a high rise, visiting a convenience store at 2am, constant hand holding, contagious laughter, emotional walls, passionate love, the it couple
惻 ā”€ 惻 ā‹Æ 惻 ā”€ āŠ¹ ā™”ā‚ŠĖšą¹‘
Im curious, how do u use this info (appearance) to think of a matchšŸ‘€?
I usually look at one's hair colour and go for a character with a hair colour that matches or compliments the requester. So either dark/dark or light/dark but that doesn't say much so. Fashion style is the deciding factor. I will choose a character who matches the requester's aesthetic. Ex: For you, I would match you with Yukimiya Kenyu because of your dark hair and glasses.

I just need people to know that I am currently about 2/3 of the way through No Paths are Bound by @cataclysmicevie and I am being totally normal about it, it is not consuming my every waking thought, I am not wishing it was longer than 1,158,737 words because I'll probably only have about a week's worth of reading left and I have separation anxiety issues. I am fine. very normal.

Honestly aziraphale and crowleys relationship in good omens reminds me of the funniest glitch in a video game Iā€™ve ever experienced
It was my fav game of all time. Black and white by lionhead studios. In this game you play as a god and the mechanic of the game has basically to win over villagers so they worship you and you can expand your influence across the world
However you can only perform miracles around villages that already worship you. So to win over the other villages you need help. Thatā€™s where the creature comes in. Creatures are literally furries you can teach to perform miracles. They start at 10ft tall and can get to a max height of 110ft
I always picked the tiger and would teach him healing miracles and how to make flocks of doves appear and I would let him lose and he would win over villages without me lifting a finger. Also because he was taught to be good he changed from an orange tiger to a pink one with purple stripes that sparkled everywhere he went
There were other gods in this game with their own creatures. One of these gods was called Lethys and his creature was the ugliest wolf youā€™ve ever seen. Massive teeth and claws, barely any fur, flies followed him everywhere, permanent snarl, he would spend his days setting villages on fire
Anyways one day I was minding my own business and I see the wolf coming into my territory. This was extremely bizarre because he never came to my territory, he stuck to his own and would only pick fights with my creature and chase him off if we went near lethys territory. Iā€™m curious but expecting the usual fight
But no. here comes this 50ft horrifying abomination of a wolf booking it into my territory and in front of ALL MY VILLAGERS and the face of GOD (me) he kissed my big pink tiger my sole companion and most loyal follower square on the lips. I can still the exaggerated kissing sound effect like it was yesterday. Imagine how the villagers mustā€™ve felt to see this
This was the funniest shit Iā€™d ever seen in my life. I have put so many hours into this game and never seen anything like this. there was one friendly creature in the game which is why the action exists, but to see this from the creature of the god who wanted me dead so bad had me buckled. I think the ai for lethys creature and the good one on the island got mixed up or something lmao
They played on the beach and did cartwheels and then it never happened again. Probably the happiest day of the wolfs life Iā€™m pretty sure his god set him on fire for sport. I think about this often. Love truly can bloom on the battlefield. So when gods just spectating in good omens Iā€™m like I get it. It is really is just that funny

one of these days i will drop an essay abt how there's actually no objectively correct characterization of any gen1 characters because they are, when in their most un-filtered state, supposed to be the streamers that play them, and to assume we know basically anything about who those people are is to miss the point of the social experiments entirely. and none of you are ready

Having brain worms. What if uhhhhhh SOS Mianite au
#this is a fully undeveloped idea but it is simmering#initial thoughts. mog is so champion of ianite. fwip is dianite's.#I'm not convinced of who mianite's is yet but i feel like sausage is desperately vying for the role and getting repeatedly rejected#oli ends up as a reluctant ianitee. he was originally a dianite follower but dianite found him annoying and was a dick so oli ditched him.#ianite finds him funny and decides to pick him up and now he's trying very hard not to mess it up bc she actually respects him#joel would claim not to need any stupid god until he sees how much fun fwip is having causing problems on purpose with dianite and gives in.#his wife joining up with dianite probably also doesn't desuade him in that department#jimmy isn't particularly keen on any of them. he's off doing his own thing#katherine feels very classic mianitee to me.#I've got mixed feelings on Pix. i kind of feel like he should be on his own thing (priest? wizard? something like that)#if not he's ianitee i think. but it takes him awhile to commit#joey's dianitee. eloise feels ianitee to me. shubble probably mianitee.#is that everyone? i think that's everyone#idk if this would be a scenario where the world/plot was more based on mianite or sos honestly#maybe a healthy mix.#do we keep the death/fate coin element? idk idk maybe not? but it doesn't feel like sos without some hardcore element#gotta sit on it#this is the first time in a long time I've just done like straight up stream of consciousness brainstorming in the tags of a post huh#feels very 2020#OWEN I FORGOT OWEN. UH. i feel like he might help balance out the mianite team. i can't put it into worlds but it feels right#he's the type of guy that you look at and immediately think dianite and you're wrong#but i could be tempted to switch him and joey. cause joey did have the whole prison thing in sos which is very mianite#even if he's generally the most dianitee guy i have ever fucking seen#i. i also forgot scott.#embarrassing. I've been watching him the longest and he's the only one on this list I've actually written into mianite crossovers before#uhhhh anyways he feels very true neutral to me. he's another one who i feel like maybe he should be off doing his own thing#if not probably mianite#this is such a mess lmao#i had to put the idea down somewhere before my head exploded sorry

@arksmemoir replied to your post: I would say that Silver definitely has more insecurity. He feels much newer to true heroism, and it shows with how easily starry-eyed and led astray he can be. His heart is in the right place, but he needs more experience under his belt to find that comfort in what he wants to be. Sonic is a hero by happenstance; he doesn't go into things with the express purpose of Being a hero. It's just what his instincts and philosophy naturally lead him to be. Silver is stumbling and thinking too hard. That's why he relied on Blaze for most of his story in 06, who was much more confident and self-assured. But he's plucky and friendly and doesn't give up. He just needs some guidance.
Tumblr media
me nodding as i scribble all of this down in a notepad. yeah, i totally agree!! i really love the idea that he's a hero in training, i can go absolutely nuts with a character like that. due to the fact that being a hero is something silver is actively striving to be, he has goals he reaches for, missions he aspires to finish, and failures that he can experience when an expectation of his isn't met. thinking too hard, as you stated.
meanwhile sonic is just adventuring by the seat of his nonexistent pants. he does what he feels is right, he has no proper aspirations and thus is more of a natural to being a hero. because he's not trying to be a hero, he's just being himself! hero by happenstance, once again as you stated! he's literally a natural, it's all instincts and learning from experience.
