Started playing dragon age inquisition once again :]]

This is Alaris (he/him), he prefers two handed weapons & heavy armour. He likes to get things done quickly and with minimal detours (which, let's be honest, is something that da:i is allergic to), values honesty and tends to be very defensive when talking about his clan & family. He was paranoid at first, thinking the inquisition intended to use him as a vessel for their religious propaganda, but was pleasantly surprised when he discovered that they actually treat him like a person lol.

After Alaris gets comfortable with the inner circle, he takes on a sort of an "older brother" role, and is incredibly annoying & stubborn whenever someone is ignoring their health in favour of work (cough cough cullen). He's also a little bitch who doesn't mind getting into arguments and WILL pull the "i am very disappointed" card.

He also started reading a lot of books about politics, definitely not because he wanted to talk more with a certain ambassador...

I like the idea of an extremely pro mage/ anti chantry warden getting watered down and basically propagandatized by the chantry

Like Aviae hates the circles with a passion, and is actively outspoken about that. Shes killed templar's by the end of awakening, and has almost zero remorse about doing so because they hurt her best friend! Her whole life has been spent under Templar control and she's angry and pissed off about it. She may have played the perfect pupil in the circle (only because she was terrified, she was so scared of the brand that it made her sick to her stomach) but now that shes out? She refuses to be quiet about it

However. The chantry can't have someone that important speaking ill about them, can they? Luckily, Aviae has a distaste for politics (even if she becomes fairly okay at them out of necessity), and generally avoids the public eye so the chantry does what they do best (and lies). The hero of Fereldan? Oh yes, she was a Circle mage. Yes she was the epitome of a good mage; she followed the rules and did as she was told. In fact, her success just proves how well the circles work! If it weren't for her years of discipline, surely Fereldan would have been doomed to fail.

Idk I really like the idea of the hof being used as a form of propaganda by the circle, especially non human and mage origins. Even better if they died killing the Archdemon because what are they gonna do, contradict them? They cant! They're dead and their image is being used as propaganda

all he knows is if hes honest he loses his his loved ones. if he told anyone bethany and father were mages, theyd get taken away. if he told his mother he wanted to lighten his burdens, shed tell him itd his duty, and at least in his mind, love him less. no matter how he tried to connect with carver, it wasnt enough and now hes dead. so thats how he sees his new friends too. say what you have to, because theyll hate you or leave you if you dont. let them rely on you, because thats what you do. be a good boy. be a strong boy. take care of your siblings. take care of your friends. take care of your city. hold it all in your arms as they crumble and you can do nothing but watch. maybe if you were better. a better son. a better man. better better better-

This one was super fun for me to work on, a new OC! She's a young fire mage named Alice, set in a modern fantasy setting! I had fun painting her using my cellphone during my job time 😄

The battle was long and drawn out, Silver had overused her quirk. Her head was throbbing, vision filled with stars, still she fought. Freezing time only allows for 4 minutes of uninterrupted action, unless someone enters the area after time has stopped. Anonymous had done just that, he had observed her quirk and knew she would be vulnerable. The other heros were hard at work with their own battles to help her, an American hero alone in an unfamiliar county and fighting stronger villains than she had ever encountered before. However; victory was hers when the villain clasped as time restarted, his blood mingling with hers telling the story of how Silver RunningFox, aka Mage, had ended Anonymous’s villainy.

Okay just like you've guessed, Hakim's mom is indeed a History & Literature professor at Akademiya. She's also a mage but I won't elaborate too much about it because she decided to follow only the conventional education path.

I've to say I struggled a lil bit to come up with a background for the Kaedehara's matriarch. However Mama reader here is a highly skilled adventurer. Just like her husband, she loves to travel, explore and she collect artifacts. Our Lara Croft I'd say hahaha

Éveline's mom is a very fluent merchant. I must say I'm keeping the idea of her being a "former smuggler" from one of my previous fanfics for Neuvi. She's pretty smart and she can get a lot of informations around Teyvat which, sometimes, contributes to her husband's work.

Cyno's wife is an eremite and she used to do some illegal stuffs, that's the main reason why she crossed his way. But now that she's married to Akademiya's mahamatra and has two sons with him, she works at tavern as a bartender. Although sometimes she also does some temporary jobs as bodyguard for those who dare to explore the desert.

okay I saw @suntamer (her poll is here) drop a poll about dragon age oc discourse and honestly, i love a good poll particularly when it comes to ocs and even more so if it's something fun like this. so, which of my dragon age ocs would encourage the most / the worst discourse, if they were part of the universe?

magni aeducan (he/they, 27-28 in da:o, dwarven noble, pansexual) — quintessential and traditional dwarven noble and yes, that included the sexism, bought into the noble hunter culture, deadbeat father (gn.) a little too willingly committed fratricide to advance themself (masterful gambit, sir) and brought both gorim and mardy down with him. "has anyone told you you're insane" / "i prefer the term ruthlessly pragmatic myself". chose to desecrate the urn of sacred ashes for Cool Dragon Powers and no other reason, let bhelen stay on the throne because he would rather have an aeducan on the throne that stabbed them in the back if it meant not having their dynastic rule continue. kept the anvil of the void and sided with branka. told alistair he was like a brother to them with a complete stony face and then proceeds to betray him at the landsmeet (magni did say he was like a brother to him...). let amaranthine burn.

rosalind hawke (she/her, 23-30 in da2, human, straight...?) — haunted by her mother's face every time she looks in the mirror, leandra 2.0 and resentful about it. did anything to protect bethany from the horrors of the world, only for bethany to die in the most horrible way possible. rival romance with anders, trying to protect him but smothering him and making things worse in the process by further denying justice its purpose, and was in an emotional situationship with sebastian at the same time. took a hard turn into mage hatred after leandra's death at the hands of a blood mage and meredith got her claws hooked into her. no one knows what's going on with her and meredith. killed her lover and father of her unborn child both out of mercy and justice, sided with the templars to 'get it over and done with quickly'. becomes known as "the butcher of the gallows."

arthur trevelyan (he/him, 49-52yo in da:i, human noble, gay) — noble born and bred, thrived in the circle predominantly due to family interference (aunt paying off templars) and his family name protecting him. extremely pro-circle and anti-rebellion (vocal about reform, however), known templar fucker (had an on-and-off again relationship with one for 20+ years), chose to go to therinfal after finding out what happened to the mages in redcliffe, celene died on his watch and put gaspard on the orlesian throne because he was going for stability over progress and then actively ghosts said emperor. encouraged dorian to speak with his father again because he was somewhat projecting. caused a scandal by getting into a relationship with his qunari bodyguard 12 years younger than him.

hissera trevelyan (she/her, 21-22yo in datv, qunari shadow dragon, lesbian) —thedas' most recognisable nepo baby. in a fashion. constantly got in trouble in the orphanage for either fighting, talking back or letting off homefashioned smoke bombs in the privy. fucked up work with the shadow dragons on such a scale she had to leave minrathous bc magisters were pissed. has been arrested multiple times for theft, murder and destruction of public property but has always been released because someone keeps pulling strings (#nepobabyprivileges.) probably overthinks about all the ways she could painfully kill a venatori. is absolutely not qualified for her job but she got it anyway because nepotism ig???? got hit with the ben-hassrath allegations by her friend's mother and she was just like 🤨no? 🤨thanks for asking? 🤨even though she has absolutely had some form of training from her dad. picked a fight with that aspect of mythal Just Because, and then didn't even use it at the end because of pettiness.

WIP BG3 fanfic snippet

It's a Gale x Tav (OC) spicy one-shot. (not in this snippet) The summary is basically a spicy/inappropriate use of mage hand.

"Really now? You're telling me you never used it for that? I know how you get about books."

"Well, I mean, maybe once or twice?"

"Sure, sure," El chuckled as he poked the man a few more times. Gale was all but glaring at the mage hand, which only made the scene funnier.

"Any other good uses out of it?" he questioned, frowning a little as he intensely looked at the hand. Part of it was so strange. He could command the hand to do almost anything. It needed barely a thought and it moved around, just like with his own, actual, hands. But the strange thing about it was getting no feedback. He could hold something hot or cold, he wouldn't know. Which was probably a big pro for using mage hand. Or hold something with a painful surface. Or something soft. Almost with a mind of his own the hand started to caress Gale's shirt.

"It’s a bit unfortunate that I get no sensory feedback. At all," he sighed. He was certain the shirt should feel soft under his touch, but there was nothing to it. Just the acknowledgement in the back of his mind that he was still controlling the mage hand.

"Well anyway. Any other good uses of-" he cut himself of midsentence as he looked up at Gale. The wizard was intensely staring at the mage hand still caressing his chest, swallowing heavily. He looked a bit tense with his hands balled at his side.

"Ah, I'm-" he started, moving the hand away from Gale's chest, thinking he overstepped. That thought quickly changed when he saw Gale almost chasing the hand and letting out a sigh. Instead, he moved the mage hand back. First caressing Gale's shirt like he'd done before. Before moving with a bit more intent, using his fingertips with a bit more pressure behind it.

"So, there are other interesting uses for mage hand," he commented. His smile slowing forming into a little smirk. Slowly becoming a bit bolder. Watching Gale's face intensely. Gale's face was an open book, one he could easily watch for a long time to find all the ways it reacted. Though he was also looking for discomfort, any signs that he was overstepping.

Accomplished White Mage. You'll survive just about anything.

Need someone to find a rare or specific plant for you? A toxin to be ground, mixed, and splashed onto your weapon? She's your girl. (Just don't ask her to do any preparing. That's a botanist, not an alchemist)

Oodles of physical contact. Nature is healing and so is she. Will carry you bridal style.

Practiced flutist.

Chases the thrill of combat. (This is a pro)

CONS:

Will actively discourage you from going out into Keeper-unfriendly sunlight.

Selfish with her time and person from years of giving all and never having a choice in matters.

Incredibly petulant at times. (Heal-ING not Heal-ED)

Easily stressed by events out of her control and by her own perceived failings. If she trips too much, for example, she will kick a hole in the earth.

Has to constantly remind herself to forgive others and herself.

Not straightforward with her feelings, becoming frustrated when a decent way won't present itself leading to further frustration, which is why she treasures the Echo as she does; one can understand her implicitly through it, or at least witness the events that made her some way and from them draw their own conclusions.

DETAILS:

Whether or not Lillian is wearing gloves remains a reliable indicator of how close she wishes to be with people. Gods help you if she starts wearing gauntlets again.

Excellent wilderness survival skills. Before a Keeper tribe sends their child out into the cold, cruel world, they make sure their child will be able to live without them.

Had to be taught Ishgardian table manners and to bathe more often. If she can get away with forgoing either, she will, but does know which plants she can rub on herself to cover up musk.

Will put weird things in her mouth all the time. Colorful leaves, edible soaps, sour-smelling rocks with familiar looking moss, etc. Which are poison? Which taste good? Which are edible? It's a Keeper trait exacerbated by years as a botanist, so don't think too much about it.

Romantically: Bitingyoubitingyoubitingyou. On a more serious note, she has a lot of love to give, and does so more freely as of late, but her struggle with building meaningful connections and being honest does hamper this. If you do manage to forge this bond and navigate hazy, unchartable waters, she'll want to keep you around for as long as possible, much as she does with the Scions.

You cannot fix Lillian; she can only fix herself. But she is better now than before.

Sexually: Switch, but prefers to let others take the lead if possible. Not entirely comfortable with being pushy or demanding. Try not to give her too much power, though! Take heart in knowing she's an accomplished healer. You will survive. But do keep whining - she likes it.

Okay big Dushan (he/him) lore dump before I move on with my wips (1/?)

He's my main Inquisitor oc and comes and goes in my art. So if you like him or DA content specifically, stick around, it pops up every few weeks

He's in his mid 30s/early 40s, House Trevelyan is technically on its last breath by the time their only acceptable heir (Dushan) is born. Him being afab opens an opportunity for arranged marriage with another noble family, with an ultimatum that the contract will only sets in motion if the marriage successfully brings a child to join their names and blood. With that nuance Trevelyans (as a bit too fanatically religious house) can't send him off to grow up into a templar or a chantry initiate. It leads to him being brought up in a cult-ish environment to become his family's sacrificial lamb (or foal. Bc get it, Trevelyans) Homeschooled church kid, if you will. Sometime before the marriage his younger sister is born and sent off to the Circle as soon as she walks. At 17-18 the marriage goes through but doesn't last long

Dushan is terrified of both his now-husband and the idea of carrying a child. The years of pent up fear and abuse make the generally quiet kid go off the RAILS in one night, killing his husband, beheading his father and declaring himself the only son and the new head of the house. There's not much anyone can do about it with his mother being long gone, the family being in shambles and him indeed being the next in line

He's heavily pro-mage not even because of mortality of the question but because his sister in the circle is his closest and only beloved family left. He spends years clearing and building up their family name through dirtiest play so his sister can have proper noble privileges. In the process of it, through revenge, assassinations and more dirty play, the house ends up almost completely wiped out. Including the sister herself

By the time of the conclave he's broken. He has the name, the power, the skills, the flourishing land but noone left by his side. He serves and sponsors the Ostwick chantry his family was affiliated with, attending the conclave under its name

He himself lost his faith years ago and being forced back into it by the whole herald thing makes him gasp for air anywhere he can. Between living in the goddamn Haven, being trapped between soldiers of the chantry that don't really give a fuck about him at that point, he clings to Solas and his talk of fade and spirits and wonders that are so hated by the chantry he fears. They bond frankly inseparable in the first act

Going into DAO completely blind: what do these dialogue options do, why is this game so brown, why are these sidequests so difficult to find, why am I repeating the same combat over and over, why are these romance scenes so stiff and awkward to watch, I accidentally missed recruiting a whole companion, I can't tell if the tone is supposed to be moody or boderline parody, uh does that monster have 6 boobs?

Going into DA2 completely blind: why do all these companion characters look and feel like a 13y/o's OC, why do the dialogue options not match what my character is saying, why is this fantasy game set almost completely within the confines of a drab city with repeat settings, why are the characters all playersexual, why can't we roleplay as other races/different backgrounds, having a bunch of mage characters walking around performing magic in the open makes no sense, why are they trying to "both sides" the templar/mage conflict, why are these characters all hanging out when they barely tolerate each other/actively hate each other, etc....

Going into DAI completely blind: why are they trying to humanize/redeem templars, why is there a pro-circle mage and two anti-dalish elf companions, why are certain romances locked by gender/race, why did they retcon the whole elven faith, why is this game so religion/chantry focused, why is the true end-game locked behind a paywall, why should I have to waste so much time in these giant highly saturated open world maps, why is it so focused on politics and allies over personal relationships, etc...

Going into DAV completely blind: why is the writing and dialogue so simple/YA, why are there less roleplay options, why are we retconning the antivan crows, why is there so much modern language/fewer religious references, why are the companions so goddamn agreeable and nice, where is all the templar/mage conflict, why are the romances less sexy/substantial, why does it hand-hold so much and spell out consequences, why-

Because the game is brand new and hasn't settled into your brain as canon yet. It's a decent game, by no means worse than any of the other entries and doesn't actually deviate from canon/lore any more than the others did when they came out, only this one had a 10 year gap to contend with. I think people really underestimate how much their brains have filled in these gaps over the years.

11. If they are a magic user, what is their favorite school of magic? Do they have a natural talent for magic, or does it require diligence and study?

yiri's favourite school of magic is illusion magic, and it is the one she is most skilled in. while adept in destruction magic, she isn't a fan of violence and prefers to either defuse fights or distract enemies from her presence using illusion spells.

she does have natural affinity for magic, one she discovered at quite a young age, but her early lessons with jouane were essential in helping her hone her craft and control it. i think there are mages out there with a greater level of natural talent, but yiri is able to stand out among them thanks to her dedication and diligence.

12. What are their prejudices? What groups have they come to think of as ‘other’? Mages? Nords? Elves? Lollygaggers?

growing up, faelen would hear stories about the Five Year War between the bosmer and the khajiit. many of these came from his father, with faelen's paternal grandfather having fought in the war. as a result of this, i think he had a dislike for the khajiit for quite some time. since leaving valenwood, though, faelen has interacted with all sorts of people from all walks of life -- including khajiit. because of this, i think his anti-khajiit sentiments have softened over time and now he really has no quarrel with them.

he does not care for those who hunt people down over their faith (including the thalmor, obviously, but also including groups that chase daedra worshippers) or immutable aspects of their identity. being a werewolf, he dislikes the vigil of stendarr and the silver hand. with that being said, he fell for a vigilant, so he doesn't view individuals from these groups as inherently bad, though he may think of them as being either naive and misguided or ignorant and backwards.

14. Who is their mentor? Who do they go to most for lessons?

madlen has had several mentors over the course of her life, including @born-potty's OC kai, who taught her about tracking & hunting & all that good stuff. big love 🫶

her mentor in the thieves guild is brynjolf hehe :3c she goes to him with all sorts of stuff and credits much of her success within the guild to him.

someone else she goes to for lessons is maramal -- a little surprising, perhaps, given that she's a thief and a criminal. she is, nonetheless, drawn to mara, and has gone to maramal a number of times over the years for advice, especially (but not only) in matters of love.

18. What is their stance on taking a life? Do they kill without a second thought, in the name of a god or daedra, or do they adhere to pacifism?

llarelis is sooo pro-murder. never mind killing without a second thought, half the time she kills without a first one. she's always been partial to a good stabby stabby, but these days her killings are all in the name of sithis and the night mother, both of whom she reveres. she is big on ritual killings and what not, all done to bring glory to them.
