"this is a disgusting feeling and i hate it. how do i get rid of it?"

"you're in love, babe. there is no 'getting rid of it' unless you find someone else to hyper-fixate on," your best friend reminds you and you groan out of frustration for the millionth time. "might i suggest deku? or maybe shoto? if you want a smoking hot pro, he's definitely not the only one around." her mouth quirks teasingly and you half-heartedly chuck a pillow in her direction.

"he's the only one i want, though, and that's the fucking problem," you lament, "it's so embarrassing."

"have you considered the possibility that he might be interested in you, too? you're already around him 24/7." you bark out a humorless laugh. what a joke. the words "bakugo katsuki" and "reciprocating feelings" did not belong in the same sentence.

"i'm his publicist. it's my job to be around him 24/7." she shrugs indifferently and gives you a skeptical look that makes your face heat up. "am i out of my mind? falling in love with a coworker?"

"considering that your coworker declined the 'sexiest hero alive' award three times now, it's not that far-fetched," she admits and it makes your stomach feel even more queasy. your unease must have finally gotten through to her as she sits up from her bed and determinedly meets your eyes through the reflection of the mirror. "look. any man worth talking to will pass out when he sees you in that," she states, gesturing at the modest but elegant dress covering your body. "if bakugo doesn't realize how much of a catch you are, then you shouldn't waste another breath in his direction."

the sentiment was easier said than done, unfortunately.

the only thought in your mind was him, from the moment the car picked you up from your friend's apartment to stepping onto the carpet of the awards show. crowds of eager fans cheer when you open the door, shouting your name and recognizing you as the brain behind their favorite hero's appearances. you flip a switch in your head, instantly becoming the professional that reassures the cameras and politely answers interviewers' questions. eventually, in what feels like no time at all, the unmarked limo carrying the man you were stupidly in love with pulls into the roundabout drop-off. you try your hardest to keep your composure as his friends exit the vehicle: mina in her sparkly pink gown, deku in his sleek green suit, kirishima in a sheer top that leaves no chiseled muscle uncovered. your breath catches in your throat when he's the last to appear and the frantic screams of the fans fade to nothing when his eyes search the chaos and zero in on you.

"you're late," you say quietly when he's within earshot and he huffs an incredulous laugh.

"and you're stunning," he replies without missing a beat. you don't miss the way his gaze rakes over your body and you despise the way he instantly can set your face on fire. his casual flirting infuriated you to no end, especially when he spoke in that low tone that should only be reserved for...private activities.

"if you think flattery will save you from a lecture, you're deeply mistaken," you force out and pray that he can't hear the waver in your voice. the butterflies in your gut feel like a flock of unruly pigeons. "but, that'll have to wait for after the show. you've got cameras just up ahead."

"this is fucking exhausting," he grunts and you can't help the chuckle that leaves your lips. bright red eyes flick over to you and you swear you can see a cocky glint in them.

"you just got here."

"and? i'm only here for as long as you want to be here," he says and it makes your legs gelatinous. "say the word and we're leaving. no questions asked."

"you're the one who's getting awards tonight," you point out, trying to ignore the way your body naturally gravitated toward his until you were nearly shoulder-to-shoulder in the crowd. at some point, his arm stations itself to float just above your waist, creating a larger bubble for you to breathe without making contact with your body. "you don't wanna stick around to receive them?"

"nah." he shakes his head and waves his other hand in carefree dismissal. "i know that anything i say will just get me in trouble later." his mouth becomes a smirk and you catch him winking at you before making his way toward the flashing lights and calls of his name. you wait patiently for him to finish posing for the insatiable paparazzi, occasionally walking out to fix his collar or brush a strand of hair from his forehead. the burn of his stare doesn't go unnoticed when you're right in front of him, fixing a button on his shirt.

"stop looking at me like that," you mutter and he flashes a sharp tooth in amusement. he knew what he was doing to you; it was impossible for him not to know from the way your hands shook on his collar.

"i wasn't kidding when i said you looked stunning, sweetheart," he murmurs and you have to blink a few times to fix the short circuit in your brain. "you ever gonna tell me how you feel or am i just gonna keep making advances to a brick wall?"

"you have absolutely no concept of-"

"publicist, get out of the way!" you both stiffen and you futilely shake your head the tiniest bit. he doesn't hesitate, and his hand gently pushes you out of the light so he can properly yell at whoever dares to tell you what to do. unlike most of his outbursts, though, his use of profanity and insults toward one's mother was kept to a minimum; it made the true attacks of undermining the reporter's professionalism even sweeter.

"and just for the record," he concludes, "i do whatever they tell me to do, so don't think you can disrespect them and get away with it, 'cause that's never gonna fucking happen. got it?" the shocked reporters nod meekly and bakugo unceremoniously exits the photo area, returning to your side like nothing happened. "i'm sorry about them."

"you shouldn't have done that."

"you're gonna lecture me for defending you?"

"no, not that. the thing you said before we got interrupted," you say, your voice barely a whisper that only he can hear. "about making advances toward a brick wall."

"you mad that i compared you to a brick wall? because it really does seem like that sometimes-"

"no, you idiot." you finally turn to face him and pull him into a quiet corner. "i'm upset because, if this is a joke, it's not funny." he gapes at you for a few seconds, as if he couldn't comprehend what you just said.

"you think," he says slowly, "that i'm joking about liking you." you nod in assent and he drags his hand down his face. you can already hear the protests of his makeup artist, but you don't really care right now. "alright, fine. maybe i'm the idiot in this situation."

"what do you mean?"

"i like you, stupid, and i'm not kidding." his words sounded like they were foreign on his tongue like it was hard for him to voice his feelings aloud. "you deal with my bullshit and you're so fucking pretty, i wanna pass out. get it?"

"mhmm," you hum dumbly, still processing what he was saying. some part of you still was saying that it was a sick joke, but the way his eyes soften when you finally look up at him confirms all that you need to know. bakugo katsuki was irrevocably, uncontrollably in love with you.

and it surprised him just as much as it did you.

"Attempted Breaking by Talking and Some Armor Piercing Questions"

Summary: After the "black wedding" has been stopped, Ashley finds out who the "higher power" is and the latter tries to break her spirit. Then she has some important questions for the Undertaker. 30th instalment of Two Brothers, One Friend, Many Stories series. Kayfabe details used only.

Disclaimer: I don't own any of the pro wrestling gimmicks/characters used here. I only own my original characters.

It was April 26th, 1999, one day after Backlash. Steve Austin had stopped the "black wedding" between the Undertaker and Stephanie McMahon while X-Pac, despite being blamed for the "blood bath" that he and Kane had been given by the Brood, tried to break into the dressing room of the Ministry of Darkness to free Ashley. The second thing had not gone well; the "higher power" had snuck up on the man and knocked him out.

Ashley had been left sitting in the dressing room alone with just a closed circuit TV to show what had been going on in the ring; she wasn't tied up and thus had been able to go and use the bathroom in that room. She couldn't escape though and she had been losing hope for quite a while now. Things were about to get worse as the man who claimed to be the "higher power" opened the door and entered the room. His face was hidden by the hood on his red robe and yet Ashley had the sense that he had an evil smile on said face. Raw had just gone off the air but there was still a camera man present to film the conversation to be shown at a later time on WWF TV.

The single mom glared at the hooded figure in front of her. She didn't know what to say.

"I should have realized that Kane would try to get someone else to play the hero and rescue you, Ashley McCormick." The man said to her. "Who would have guessed that a big red monster was capable of finding loopholes?" He removed his hood, ready to reveal his identity. It was being done much earlier than planned but it would serve a purpose of helping to break her spirit.

Ashley stared in horror at the man who had claimed to be the higher power to the Ministry of Darkness. "Jackal?!" She didn't know what else to say. Why did he brainwash the Undertaker? What was the point of the cult leader wanting to take over the World Wrestling Federation? Why use her to send a message of what would have been in store for Stephanie McMahon had Steve Austin not rescued the youngest child of Mr. McMahon?

"Who were you expecting, someone from the McMahon family?" The Jackal asked her, sarcasm lacing his voice. He returned to being sincere. "I told others of my plans to take over the World Wrestling Federation many times before, but no one thought I could do it! I brainwashed the Undertaker as a favor to Paul Bearer to bring the Deadman back to the dark side after he had been moving away from there for too long in exchange for help bringing my plans to fruition. It was easy to do because of his hatred for Steve Austin! You were one of the innocents targeted because Paul wanted to torture you with the knowledge that your childhood friend can never be how you prefer to remember him, as is the case with his beloved little brother. I also wanted to show the masses exactly what I am capable of!"

"You fucking, evil bastard!" Ashley shouted angrily, getting up from the folding chair she was sitting in. She was about to punch him in the face with her left hand as she walked over to him.

The Jackal grabbed her wrist. "And I'm proud of it! Pity you reverted to being as impulsive as you were in childhood; I could easily break your wrist. Breaking your spirit will suffice though!" He let go of her and then left the room to get the Undertaker; X-Pac had been taken to get medical attention by now.

Ashley had no idea what to do now; there was only a small amount of comfort in the fact that the Undertaker hadn't been acting of his own free will. Was there a way to break him free from that control though?

The Undertaker had returned to the dressing room a few minutes later with the rest of the Ministry of Darkness to take Ashley with them on the road to the next arena. They did let her have a bathroom break before leaving though as there was no window in it for her to climb out of. Once she was tossed into the backseat of a rental car once more, Ashley fell asleep since she didn't know what else to do. Tomorrow night, a pilot episode of a new WWF TV show would be filmed and then aired on Friday. She wanted to get free that night if at all possible; she was not going to let what the Jackal had said get to her.

It was the very next night when something unexpected happened. Halfway through the filming of what would eventually become the first episode of Smackdown, Ashley McCormick had been left alone with the Undertaker backstage in the locker room of the Ministry of Darkness. The Jackal had left them like that in the hope that the single mother would be too broken emotionally to try to get the Deadman to see reason. The cult leader seemed to think that even if she did try, she would fail. Assumptions are dangerous things though and can be proven wrong.

Ashley had never begged anyone for anything ever; she was desperate enough to do that now though despite being tied up once again. "Please stop this, Mark! There have been too many people that have suffered because of what you've been doing! I'm worried about them and you! I don't care what kind of torture is in store for me for doing this! I will still try to get you to listen to reason because you are my best friend and I don't want to lose you." She then had some questions for him as tears started running down her face. "Do you even know what you'll do next if you succeed in taking over the World Wrestling Federation? Why should you listen to the man claiming to be your higher power? Do I deserve to be kept from my children, especially when they and I didn't do anything wrong to you or him? Maybe things can't be the same as when we were kids and I've known that for a long time! The Mark I know now, whether he is the Undertaker or not, has to still be in there somewhere! Is he though?"

The Deadman did not seem to have an answer to any of those questions. It was as if he had been metaphorically pierced by them as he looked at his best friend.

Neither one had noticed that the rest of the Ministry of Darkness had entered to witness what was occurring. It seemed that like their higher power, they felt that these efforts of Ashley to try to get the Undertaker back to himself wouldn't work. Those watching at home and those in the audience at the New Haven Coliseum weren't sure what to think either. All of Ashley's family had been praying for her, the Undertaker, and Kane since the Ministry of Darkness had officially been established though and had not lost hope. These prayers were about to be answered.

It wasn't the tears or the begging alone that had broken the brainwashing spell cast by the Jackal and Paul Bearer as the Undertaker rolled his eyes up briefly to reveal the whites and then removed his hooded robe. It was the fact that both had come from a genuine place of concern for others involved in the whole situation and Ashley's willingness to go through Hell by trying to get him back in control of himself. Memories of times that Ashley had been there for him flashed through the Undertaker's mind as he choke slammed Bradshaw onto the floor. He didn't seem to know how he had ended up here, only that his best friend was in danger as he tried to untie her. Everyone else attacked him and Paul Bearer screamed "Nooooo!!!"

Kane immediately ran in once he noticed the door unlocked to help as he had been passing by. Unfortunately, the numbers game was still against the future Brothers of Destruction as they had to retreat and wound up in a different backstage area, that being where the main locker room was.

"What the Hell is going on here, Kane?" The Undertaker asked, worry made obvious on his face before a janitor appeared.

"Find a TV with a VHS player and some tapes from the last few months! I need to show my brother what he did!" Kane demanded, the frightened janitor running off to do so without question. The big red monster then dragged the Phenom into the locker room. "You were brainwashed by the Jackal and Paul Bearer and put a lot of people in danger, big brother! Especially our best friend!"

The Undertaker had no reply as he found his cell phone. He read the text messages that Ashley had sent expressing worry about what he and the Ministry of Darkness had been doing and played several voicemail messages while waiting for the equipment Kane had requested to be brought in. One voicemail message put him on the verge of tears. The message was from March 24th, 1999, and how it was still there after a month was a mystery. The content was Ashley saying "Hey Mark, I hope you come to your senses soon. Just wanted to wish you a happy birthday." Then she had sung "Happy Birthday" to her best friend, struggling not to cry while doing so. That was when the message ended.

One moment later, the TV and VHS player had been brought in and hooked up and the tapes handed to Kane. Once he and his brother had been left alone once more, he started playing the tapes after turning the TV and VHS player on. One thing that the Big Red Machine noticed was that the Undertaker was becoming more and more horrified at what he was seeing, especially when he realized that he had targeted so many innocents, Ashley included, and he remembered his best friend's warning: "If you don't drop your hatred for Stone Cold Steve Austin, you'll do something you'll likely regret later!"

"Kane, what did I do? Her parents are going to kill me for this." The Undertaker looked down in shame, tears of guilt threatening to fall. Mr. McMahon would likely kill him for it as well. First, he had to go out and say something to the world. He quickly composed himself and anger that he had been made to be worse than he would willingly be became evident. "I am going to kill the Jackal first though!" He paused the VHS player and turned off the TV before leaving the locker room.

Kane was not far behind. "I want a piece of him too!" He shouted. It was needless to say that this confrontation would be very interesting.

Spider-Man and the Defenders. Wilson Fisk is free, not only that but the Hand is trying to seize power in NYC. It's up to SPider-Man, Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist to stop this threat.

The Avengers finally return to NYC and get off their fucking asses after all this time requests Spider-Man's help against Kang the Conqueror(this time not played by an abuser) Loki or even better, the Masters of Evil ran by Norman Osborn, Doctor Doom, Loki, Red Skull, The Leader, and The Mandarin

My Punisher pitch:

Imagine if we get these Punisher challenges.

Peter gets word that The Punisher is in town and set up a bunch of hits on mob bosses and their lieutenants. Much like the Black Cat stakeout missions and Taskmaster challenges, Peter has to pinpoint where Frank is stop him from executing his victims and stop him.

Ideally, I'd love a callback to Punisher and Spider-Man's firs interaction. Being hired to kill him and realizing what a mistake it could've been. "Don't make me make that mistake. Stay out of my way."

It all leads to a boss fight against The Punisher.

Make it clear that what the Punisher is doing is wrong.

Peter calling Frank out on his bullshit and saying "you're just a guy who uses his family's name as an excuse to be a murderer". JJJ calling him a murderer that gets innocent people killed in his one man war on crime. Danika being absolutely repulsed by the Punisher's existence. Then we get a limited time third podcast. The Microchipcast. aka Microchip being the only pro-Punisher voice justifiying his actions and blaming Spider-Man for letting them all for walking alive.

The Spiderverse was already teased, so let's run with it.

Okay, not a full on Clone Saga. Just something that gives us Jackal, Ben and Kaine.

Not sure on the specifics. Baxter Building is already there, want to see Peter and Reed do science together and see Peter and Johnny's unmitigated gayness

Something's happened to Peter. His powers begin to evolve and he doesn't know what to do. He seeks help from the X-Men. His unforeseen mutation not only gets him the help from the X-Men, but the attention of Magneto. Peter fully transforms into Man-Spider and for a brief moment, you get to play as the X-Men while Miles administers the cure.

Deacon Frost comes to NYC and attacks Dr Morgan Michaels. Dr Michaels then tries to research a cure with Spider-Man's help. However it's too late. Dr Michaels becomes Morbius, the living Vampire. This gains the attention of Blade. Blade hunts Morbius, Spider-Man fights him, Spider-Man fights Morbius while trying to help him and then the three teams up to fight Frost.

We've seen the Sanctorum, we could see Baron Mordo leading the "Cult of Dormammu" causing chaos while Mordo is planning a mass sacrifice to unleash Dormammu upon the world.(pretty much the same plot from SMA arc, but with no Fox censorship)

Don't care about the context, I just wanna see Spider-Man and Johnny Blaze team up to kick Mephisto's ass

The Great Grand Library's 2023 Record

I decided to look back upon all the fics I read in 2023 and compiled them into a list.

Format: Score/10: Title [Author] [Fandom] [Misc].

The scores are a snappy enumeration of my personal rating system. 2/10 means I read for some amount before putting it on hold and theoretically might someday give it another shot but eh, 4/10 means I'm much more likely to give it another shot, 6/10 means I read through all the chapters that was there at the time and enjoyed my time aplenty, 8/10 means I enjoyed it even more, and 10/10 means I enjoyed it so much they're a contender for being among my favorite fics of all time.

Only a small percentage of what are 2/10 are included in this list, so this list isn't bloated by fics that my feelings about are mostly summarised as "eh". Consider them a honorable mentions.

I like watching OWL cause it puts me to sleep but anyway the casters have bitched like 4 times in the last week about Zarya not being in the meta currently like wow its almost as if Coward Entertainment plays balance favorites then the pro scene gets stale because literally nothing cool happens.

anon: Hello I saw your kita fic with pregnant reader and it was so cute, I loved it 👉👈 can I request something similar for the Miya twins? (In Atsumu's case I have to imagine it was an accident haha)

a/n: i’m so touched that you guys really enjoyed my farmer!kita + taking care of his pregnant wife headcanons and requested for an osamu and atsumu edition. i just know that these are going to be long so i’ll be doing atsumu’s first and then osamu’s so i hope you like this !!

of course i have to talk about how you guys got together because they’re one of my favorite parts to write

you and atsumu probably met through online dating. atsumu normally has a very busy schedule but he also wanted to date and therefore online was the way to go

surprisingly, he was more into the idea of dating someone rather than just meeting up to have sex. sure, he enjoys that but it’s different from sitting down and getting to know someone

eventually, he matched with you and he was charmed by how funny you were and that you didn’t mind his busy schedule. it wasn’t long until you went on your first date and the first time atsumu laid his eyes on you, he just had this feeling that your relationship was going to be a good one

the two of you would go on dates in your spare time but because he was often busy and tired after practice, you two would just hang out in his apartment and eat take-out

once in a while you like doing something special and cooking a home meal for him and atsumu just knows you have no idea how much he’s touched that you would cook for him

the two of you have so much fun by yourselves in your little at-home dates. one time, you and atsumu decided to marathon dreamworks movies and had a heated debate over whether shrek or megamind was better

omg you were practically yelling at each other and it was so dumb but after that, atsumu was just like ‘oh shit i have to marry her’

he ended up consulting kita and osamu for advice because this is some serious shit

anyway, he did buy a ring but he just couldn’t think of the right time to propose. atsumu ended up proposing on the spot though after the MSBY jackals won a really important game and you rushed to the court to congratulate him

your proposal was caught on TV and it was just magical

the two of you planned your wedding to take place while it wasn’t volleyball game season so atsumu was able to devote more time in helping you plan

osamu offered to be a caterer but atsumu was all ‘we can’t eat onigiri the entire night’

atsumu wanted your wedding to be quite big. he invited a lot of his past teammates and friends and he knew you had a lot of family to invite too

ngl when he saw you walking down the aisle he got impatient because you looked so beautiful and walked down to meet you halfway

‘atsumu, you kiss the bride after you say your vows’

‘i don’t care it’s my wedding’

the reception was fun. osamu was being a little shit and kept clinking his glass while you two were about to eat until kita scolded him

atsumu has definitely always wanted to take care of kids and he just knows he’s gonna be a fun dad so the two of you definitely plan to have a child

after finding out you were pregnant, you wanted to surprise/prank him. you pretended to be sick and asked atsumu to fetch you a thermometer

he got it and was like ‘this is a weird ass thermometer’ before he realized that he was holding your pregnancy test

‘oH MY GOD WE’RE HAVING A BABY????’

cue atsumu crying and hugging you tight and also spinning you around and later getting worried that he spun the baby and now the baby was also dizzy

despite the fact that he has a busy schedule with practice, atsumu still finds time to come home and take care of you

he insists on doing the cooking this time and ngl he’s not as good as his brother so osamu had to come help him out a bit. you find it sweet tho that your husband puts in the effort

atsumu already has some weird preferences for food in the first place so your pregnancy cravings don’t really bother him. like, you want a jar of pickles to yourself? atsumu is getting TWO jars so you could eat together

when he comes home after a very tiring practice he wants nothing more than to just lay down with you on the couch with his head on your lap (even though there’s not much room for him anymore)

atsumu’s definitely the type who loves to rub your baby bump and whisper things to your baby. the first time he feels your baby kick he’s just completely astounded

once he came across an article about how playing music and putting headphones on a pregnant belly will help the baby become smarter and he had i d e a s

you: atsumu, we are not making our baby listen to the shrek soundtrack

atsumu: not even fairy godmother’s cover of ‘i need a hero?’

you: okay, maybe one song

atsumu was worried that your due date was right in the middle of game season and he’d make multiple precautions to make sure you’d be able to get to a hospital safe even when he was not around

aka this meant calling kita and osamu (and even suna) and asking if you could be one of your contacts just in case

and it ended up coming in handy because you had your first contraction in the middle of an MSBY jackal game. luckily suna and osamu were beside you

osamu was basically pushing people out of the way yelling ‘PREGNANT WOMAN PLEASE MOVE’ while suna was keeping you steady

kita agreed to meet you all at the hospital and atsumu, who noticed you were gone from your seat, heard from his coach that you had gone into labor

and then bokuto and hinata were all OKAY LET’S FINISH THIS GAME QUICK SO ATSUMU CAN MEET HIS BABY

i swear to god it ended up being the MSBY jackal’s best game ever. hinata and bokuto’s power was over 9000. even sakusa got into the whole frantic energy

they didn’t even celebrate once they finished the set they all just left the court and piled into sakusa’s car

sakusa may have ignored a few traffic rules and stoplights otw but he did it to help in his own way

lmao imagine you’re in the hospital and the FOUR STAR PLAYERS OF THE MSBY JACKALS WALK IN

by then, though, you had already finished giving birth and was now resting in your room. atsumu visited you to check if you were alright before he went to see his baby in the nursery

i swear he almost cried right on the spot when he saw his child sleeping peacefully in their crib

you woke up to the sight of your husband sitting beside your bed, smiling while cradled your child and you just knew your baby was going to be so loved

"A Challenge is Made"

Summary: The Undertaker challenges the Jackal, the higher power in this story, to a no holds barred match for Ashley's freedom and the fate of the World Wrestling Federation. 31st instalment of Two Brothers, One Friend, Many Stories series. Kayfabe details used only.

Disclaimer: I don't own any of the pro wrestling gimmicks/characters used here. I only own my original characters.

Ashley's parents had come and gotten their grandchildren from the latter's friends' houses and stayed with them after the single mom had been kidnapped. Now, Thomas, Caroline, Lucas, Colin, and Meredith were sitting in the audience during the taping of the Smackdown pilot episode and watching as the Jackal was gloating about what he had done. The rest of the Ministry of Darkness were in the ring with him as was Ashley, who was now tied up in the ring ropes.

"Let my mom go!" Lucas shouted loudly enough to be heard by TV viewers.

"It's Ashley's children and parents!" Michael Cole shouted.

"I don't think they realize how dangerous it could be for them to be here!" Jim Cornette added.

"And what makes you think we're going to do that, little boy?" Paul Bearer responded, sneering at the teenager.

That was the cue for the Undertaker and Kane to enter and they came down the ramp and into the ring quickly.

"You have a lot to answer for, Jackal, but first I have to say something that I never usually say to my best friend and her family! Normally, I would not apologize for anything, and I do not expect them or anyone else to forgive me." The Undertaker turned to look at Ashley and her family at the same time. "I'm sorry that I could not keep myself from being brainwashed and for everything I did during that time that I can't remember." Then he turned to the cult leader, looking calm but still the angriest he had ever been. "As for you, Jackal, you made a big mistake by targeting my best friend simply because she was worried for me and others affected by the actions of the Ministry. I will make it up to her and her family by ensuring that you pay dearly for what you have done. I challenge you to a no holds barred match on the next Sunday Night Heat; no disqualifications and no count outs since I want to make you suffer for what you made me unwillingly do to others. If I win, you let Ashley go, disband the Ministry of Darkness, and let Vince McMahon continue to run the World Wrestling Federation as usual. I may not always agree with some of the things that he has done in this business, but I think we both know that neither of us could run this company as well as he does."

"I will be in my brother's corner for that match! And I will make you sorry that you ever targeted Ashley McCormick!" Kane added, not nearly as calm as his older brother and still glaring at the cult leader.

"Well, Undertaker, Kane, I don't think that will happen! Undertaker, you will lose and I will torture your beloved best friend while you and your brother watch, letting the masses know that I can still make play things of their heroes and anti-heroes as I see fit!" The Jackal declared, smug in his belief that the Deadman could not beat him.

Everybody in the audience gasped and booed before starting a chant of "Asshole!"; then there was the sound of glass shattering, resulting in cheers from the crowd. Steve Austin entered the ring next, coming down the ramp swiftly. The Rattlesnake was furious at what he had heard as one could tell by the glare on his face. He was very close to the Jackal now after climbing into the ring. "That is the most fucked up stipulation that I have ever heard! I may not like the Undertaker, but I like you even less because of what you made him do! This is for forcing him to hit me with a shovel, nearly embalm me, and lock me in a freezer, you son of a bitch!" He immediately gave the Jackal a stunner. This caused an outright brawl of the Ministry of Darkness versus the Undertaker, Kane, and Steve Austin. X-Pac had also run in to help his tag team partner Kane while Caroline and Thomas climbed over the barrier to try to get Ashley out of the ring ropes. Several officials had come down to try to break it up.

Then Mr. McMahon had come out, causing everyone to stop. A declaration was made that a no holds barred match between the Undertaker and the Jackal would occur on Sunday Night Heat and a stipulation would be added; if the Undertaker won, the Jackal could never come back to the WWF again, even if the company changed its name. Both the Deadman and the cult leader seemed to agree with this. Thomas and Caroline were also given assurance that they and their grandchildren would be allowed to attend the event to witness it for themselves.

Lucas, Colin, and Meredith had watched with mixed emotions as this occured. They wanted their mother reunited with them no matter how long it took to get to that point. When the show was over, they were taken home by their grandparents and had to go to bed. They had hope that things would work out for the best despite their worries; it helped that Kane had come up to them after the show in the parking lot to ask if he and X-Pac could stay with them to help the kids feel better protected.

"We also forgot to get a hotel room." X-Pac had explained.

"All right, but no funny business." Thomas had said firmly. He was not a fan of the antics of any member of D-Generation X.

"I don't think we'll have to worry about that." Caroline insisted.

That was how Kane had wound up in Ashley McCormick's home once more, this time with X-Pac staying with him in the third floor guest room. A second bed had been added since the last time the Big Red Machine had stayed here, courtesy of Quentin and Julia giving it to Ashley as an early birthday gift. Kane then realized that Ashley would only be freed a day after her birthday if the Undertaker won the no holds barred match against the Jackal. It really wasn't fair and he growled in anger again as he got into one bed. "I am going to set that bastard on fire for what he did to my brother and my friend!"

X-Pac turned off the light and got into the other bed. "You'll get your chance soon, Kane." He reminded his tag team partner. He had a sympathetic look on his face as he spoke. "I'll help you interfere in the match to make sure of it. That woman does not deserve what happened to her."

"No, she doesn't since she was my brother's first and only friend as a child and never minded me tagging along to play with them. Ashley has always cared about me and Mark and never stopped even after realizing how much we changed after meeting us again." Kane replied and sighed sadly. "Sorry I blamed you for the Brood giving me a blood bath by the way; Edge revealed the truth after Raw went off the air and mocked me for not realizing that you're not capable of that due to not being a vampire."

"All is forgiven, Kane. We'll make the Jackal and the rest of the Ministry of Darkness pay for everything they did. I promise." X-Pac was sincere in this vow as he made it. Soon, he had fallen asleep as it had been a long night.

Kane believed his tag team partner as he too fell asleep afterwards. They would help the Undertaker win no matter what they had to do to accomplish that task.
