You know what, whatever the nature of Jimin and JK's relationship, the absolute truth is that they have one, whatever they define it as. If they didn't, the enlistment would not have happened. That is key to me, and it is the loudest thing they have done to date. It surpasses all other jikookery, maybe even the travel show. To me it is a beautiful thing, because they have enlisted as private citizens, not as members of BTS, but because they wanted to be together. They didn't have to, they could have gone alone, made it easier on themselves, but they applied for the buddy system, and by chance got in. The happiness on Jimin's face in his production diary live, which took place days after they found out, speaks volumes. This isn't some game, they really did that. The fact that they are the only idols who have enlisted together, this makes them stand out, they know this

I don't see why people cannot see that, cannot hold that in their minds, and see how special and beautiful their bond is, whatever it is to them. It is so disrespectful to call it into question, to dissect every little thing, to invade their privacy to fulfil a need to find the truth to satisfy yourself. I know that at the end of the day, whatever we may think, it does not alter their truth, they (hopefully) pay no mind, they will still live their lives how they want to, and again, the truth is, they matter to each other.

They are the best of friends, they love each other, they enlisted together because of that.

They will always matter more to each other than any fan, solo or Army, any hate spewed their way, any blatant homophobia because people just cannot cope with the truth. We are not part of their personal story. We only see what they allow us to see, as it should be, and we are privileged with this travel show, We should enjoy what they are gifting us, because for whatever their reason, they are allowing us a peak into their bond, to see them 'as they are'. We need to nurture that, and support them, and ignore all the haters. To me, at least, that is the most important thing here, they have a bond, it is special, we should support them, and hold space for them. That is the least that they deserve.

I recognize that we are at a smorgasbord of jikookery and likely about to get hit by the truck that is comeback so ain’t nobody got time for side research, but when you have a minute to breathe, can I interest you in chatting about the JiKook handshake? I mean, you’re the queen of the signs and symbols of their bond and I feel like KFI might have some input to share. I personally think it’s obvious that nearly all of their handshakes are standing in for a peck on the cheek. But I also thought everyone picked up on the angle of rotation, so maybe it’s only some of us who notice. Jimin, as his endearingly formal self, does tend to shake hands with everyone but it seems more frequent and purposeful with JK. Yes, this most recent VLive one was part of an apology, but I can’t help but think it would have played differently in private. Probably with an aeyego face, too, but now we’re getting into our imaginations and we don’t want to be those people. Anyways…thoughts on the handshakes?

And I'm literally drafting up and looking for content on this subject so I'm gonna have to block some mistranslations and a few false narratives and skim over some eye contact and What The Hell Is With Taehyung And Restrooms and make space for THIS. Because there really is such a thing, it turns out, as a secret handshake and I am gonna come correct and bring receipts. Back soon with more detail and hopefully either a KFI or a sober (?) X or both.

It’s always funny to me when people go “if jikook was real they would do x with x member so x ship must be realer” because do they not realize that means they have to explain away all of jikook except for that one instance?

The simple truth is that there are no ships in Bangtan that don’t have sus moments and there is no ship in Bangtan that doesn’t have a bunch of touchy clingy moments because they are just like that at all times. Jikook perhaps even less than others for reasons that has been talked about many many times.

Bangtan has been posting choreography dance practice videos for many many years and it’s actually VERY rare for jikook to be the ones “playing around” in these videos (in fact most of them are not playful at all, it’s just the choreography in casual clothes). Dynamite is the exception but that’s because they have shared choreo in it and we’ve gotten a TON of Dynamite choreo videos.

Tae has center stage in the vminkook PTD choreo until he hands over to Jungkook which means he’s the one they revolve around. Jikook focusing on each other would be unprofessional and take away Tae’s “moment”. Jikook keep their distance in the end part of the choreo because they are belting out adlib high notes that are “off tune” (ie runs counterpoint to the song), if they are too close they will simply hear each other too much even with in-ears especially considering they’re performing in mostly silent spaces (and also we know they can’t look at each other without laughing unless you want the tension to get so thick you can cut it with a knife).

I feel like a lot of people forget that the Dynamite era amount of ~official jikookery is simply not the norm and was brought on by official choreography just as the “taekook” in Butter & PTD is also a part of the official choreography and fueled by the fact that they’ve been paired up for a lot of official content lately. Furthermore most of everything they do now is prerecorded which generally means less chaotic AND, which is probably the most important point, they are becoming more and more private. They let VERY little slip these days.
