he’s already taking care of harry and moody. they need the most of him. moody has spent the past eight months inside of a trunk, and harry was abducted into a graveyard. anytime someone tricks sirius into taking a twenty minute nap ( it’s remus, it’s always remus ), he jumps back up five minutes later. 

he’s angry. he’s not angry at anyone in the house but himself. 

it doesn’t matter that he was tricked. it doesn’t matter that he was lied to, a perfectly placed part of a perfect equation. it doesn’t matter; he should have known better. he should have been better. a better father, a better son. 

but he wasn’t, and now he’s sitting in the aftermath. 

this is the aftermath. greylyn is the aftermath. 

he hasn’t slept in two days, but he’s spent a couple of hours making tea, and making food - there are little sandwiches, and cut up fruit, and cookies he learned how to cook from a book in the local library. 

he’s not great at cooking, but he’s lovely at plating. it all looks very lovely. the tea has real raspberries on the rim. they were picked from the garden. 

neither moody or harry need him right now. remus has given up trying to get him to go to sleep ( for the moment ), and so he’s taken the initiative. he’s trying. 

what he’s trying for he’s not sure. he’s just trying. 

to be what they thought he was. to be who he thought he was. 

he brings the plate and the cups to her over to her in the library. 

“it’s tea,” he says, like he’s talking to a stranger. “and sandwiches. the cookies have rum in them.”

          Rushing to his daughter, Arthur carefully wraps his arms around her, heart pounding as he takes in her frame. She doesn’t look injured, doesn’t look hurt - not as bad as the young Potter boy next to her is, and part of him is extremely thankful for that, but he does not know what kind of scars Ginny could have hidden from sight, and that thought is terrifying for him. “Are you alright? What happened? How did you even get down there, Ginny?” Arthur asks, ignoring Molly’s shriek as he pulls away from his youngest.

There were times Tonks missed living in the wizarding world, she missed many of the surviving members of the Order and her family of course, she missed the ease of magic. But in exchange for all she gave up, she got Remus-- he was her rock in all of this. Somehow they survived the war by the skin of their teeth and the first thing they did when everything was over was got married. Now they had a quiet life, Remus owned a bookstore they lived above in a nice three bedroom flat and she worked down the way at a hair salon.

She figured if she liked doing her hair so often she would like doing others and she was right. On the weekends she helped at the bookshop, putting away inventory, cleaning, harassing her husband, normal things. On this particular Saturday she was sat on the main desk, reading over an owl letter that Harry and Ginny sent, including a photo of their new baby. "I swear he's a mini Harry, he didn't get anything from poor Ginny."

                       the relief in neville’s voice makes him smile a bit. all of them looking disheveled and exhausted but clearly happy to be reunited. having been torn from the group a while ago, he’s had his own little adventure which ended in a broken arm and a slight limp now. he’s gonna carry some scars from it but for now his focus is on neville flinging his arms around him. at first slightly ataken back, harley then reaches around with his good arm to return the hug - the tension of the past few days falling off of his shoulders.  “ you’re not getting rid of me that easily, don’t worry. ”
