he’s already taking care of harry and moody. they need the most of him. moody has spent the past eight months inside of a trunk, and harry was abducted into a graveyard. anytime someone tricks sirius into taking a twenty minute nap ( it’s remus, it’s always remus ), he jumps back up five minutes later. 

he’s angry. he’s not angry at anyone in the house but himself. 

it doesn’t matter that he was tricked. it doesn’t matter that he was lied to, a perfectly placed part of a perfect equation. it doesn’t matter; he should have known better. he should have been better. a better father, a better son. 

but he wasn’t, and now he’s sitting in the aftermath. 

this is the aftermath. greylyn is the aftermath. 

he hasn’t slept in two days, but he’s spent a couple of hours making tea, and making food - there are little sandwiches, and cut up fruit, and cookies he learned how to cook from a book in the local library. 

he’s not great at cooking, but he’s lovely at plating. it all looks very lovely. the tea has real raspberries on the rim. they were picked from the garden. 

neither moody or harry need him right now. remus has given up trying to get him to go to sleep ( for the moment ), and so he’s taken the initiative. he’s trying. 

what he’s trying for he’s not sure. he’s just trying. 

to be what they thought he was. to be who he thought he was. 

he brings the plate and the cups to her over to her in the library. 

“it’s tea,” he says, like he’s talking to a stranger. “and sandwiches. the cookies have rum in them.”

                       the relief in neville’s voice makes him smile a bit. all of them looking disheveled and exhausted but clearly happy to be reunited. having been torn from the group a while ago, he’s had his own little adventure which ended in a broken arm and a slight limp now. he’s gonna carry some scars from it but for now his focus is on neville flinging his arms around him. at first slightly ataken back, harley then reaches around with his good arm to return the hug - the tension of the past few days falling off of his shoulders.  “ you��re not getting rid of me that easily, don’t worry. ”

"Well, that's not bright on their behalf ..." Amelia's sarcasm probably wasn't needed now of all times ... but she simply couldn't help herself. Sure, it had taken her a little bit to find the courage to open up to Harry, to accept that he - the Potters, included - were a part of her, but now she had gone way past being awkward as she relearned how to act around her newly discovered family and straight to being an idiot sister who thought she was helping. 

          "They'll still die anyway ... whether by old age or some freak accident." She shrugged, talking as if it was the most casual thing in the world, "You sure they couldn't have come up with a better reason to try to kill you?" Honestly, what made Harry so special that the death eaters thought that he was the one to end them all? Amelia immediately tore out the image from her head: oh, the absolute last thing she wanted to think about was losing another brother ...
