What does it mean to be empowered?
To be empowered is to make someone stronger and more confident, especially in controlling their life and claiming their rights. An empowered women is someone who knows her strengths and isn’t afraid to push the limits and embrace them. She is in control of her life and knows her value of worth in the world.

What are your values?
I chose these items because each one symbolizes the strengths and ambitions that gave women the capability to avenue there successes.
The reason for the way they are displayed is because it shows the main/greatest strengths of women to there influences. They are the building blocks of our future and without them no one would be here, they hold the stresses in the world. Women are the way of life, holding the key to the lock in many situations.

Live by inner compass
Many women all over the world for decades have fought for women to have a voice and that’s so important for me today. I am grateful because women in Canada now have the luxury of education, freedom and rights to vote etc. Compared to the third world countries whom are still fighting everyday what we have at our finger tips. I came across a young girl who defined empowerment for women and told it better than anyone, Malala Yousafzia: daughter of courage. A 16 year old girl who was born in Mingora, Pakistan. It was said to be a tourist spot until the Taliban began to take control not to long after. Malala gave a speech, the title: “How Dare The Taliban Take Away my Basic Right To Education!” She began growing a platform and continued to speak about her rights, and the rights of all women to have an education. She later was awarded Pakistan’s National Youth Peace Prize.
But soon to find out the Taliban issued a death threat against her on Oct.9/2012. She rode the bus with friends as a masked gunman boarded the bus looking for her and shot her hitting her on the side of the head/face. Malala could have let this situation define her and hide from it all, instead she only grew a bigger following and support from more people all over the world. Malala at only 16 spoke for the rights of thousands of women who didn’t have the courage. This situation is just one of many other women speaking out for their rights and being denied of there freedom. But empowered women, empower women and we are unstoppable.

Know yourself
If you’re an empowered woman you are a feminist. My objects of choice describe a cultural difference, a way to make connections amongst many people. Women fighting for rights of other women has been an on going controversy but feminism fights for equality amongst both. Many men and women disagree with equality that feminist fight for and do not support this, or many believe we already have met equality in men and women. That is why my archive of objects represents the courage and equality of women in today’s time because I believe in it.
