Scream For Me (11)
A/N:  Not sure why I’m even writing this because I’m fairly certain everyone and their mother no longer reads this (can’t blame anyone, I haven’t updated this in months) but here we are, with my nonsensical rambling. Good shit.
Masterlist
Pairings/Characters: Shang-Chi x Reader, Katy Chen, Greek Gods/Figures
Warnings:  depictions of violence, swearing, blood, minor references to drugs
Summary: Finally in Greece. I mean, how awkward can it be, right?
Previous Chapter: Scream For Me (10)
WC: 3.1k
Tumblr media
Packing your bags and boarding the plane to Greece, you were calm, cool, and collected. You didn’t seem nearly as nervous or frightened as you had been in the days leading up to your decision to get this done. Well, you seemed just as guarded about it as you had those times, but you did seem just a tad bit more relaxed as the day to depart approached. However, on the plane, it was an entirely different story.
Sitting in the middle was Shangqi, flanked by you and Katy on either side of him. Shangqi had on his headphones and was happily listening to music. Katy was eating the snack she had stolen from Shangqi, and you were humming along to the music playing in the movie your eyes were focused on, but that you weren’t paying any attention to in the slightest aside from the soundtrack. Shangqi’s hand was covering yours because he knew, without you saying anything at all, that you were overthinking this.
Why were you even doing this, really? You had a family of your own. It was your distressed little found family, held together by pieces of Scotch tape, but it was yours, and it had gotten you through most of your life, but you just couldn’t help yourself. This was finally your chance. You weren’t busy saving the world, obligated to go on missions, throwing yourself into danger anyway to help people around you. This was finally a moment for you to do something for yourself, and as much as it frightened you, you had to satisfy the curiosity you had your entire life.
Well, for the part of your life that you remembered, at least.
Arriving in Greece, the three of you went straight to your destination. Jet lag be damned, you three had packed light and timed it so you arrived early in the day and could get started right away. It was better to get this over with than give you time to pull out and go find a world tragedy to insert yourself into. With backpacks, the card you had been given with instructions, and a couple of snacks you had picked out, the three of you were hiking up the mountains of Olympus on a tourist-laden trail to your destination passed the Enipeas waterfall.
You three had stopped several times on the hike to rest, eat, and hydrate, given that the lengthy travel time had already taken away most of your energy. As you sat on a rock, sticking your feet in a small body of water while a few feet away from you children shrieked and splashed each other, Shangqi plunked down next to you, and Katy shoved him off the rock to sit on the floor while she sat beside you and he sucked his teeth.
“So what do we do when we pass the waterfall,?” Katy asked you. “Do we just shout or pray or something?”
“Not sure,” you confessed. “Thor travels through something called a Bifrost. He used to shout for Heimdall, but I think he does it all by himself now like a big boy. I’m just going to hope we don’t walk through some invisible portal and the other end is a cliff.”
“That’s something to think about,” Shangqi joked as he drank water and passed you the bottle. “Mount Olympus. Man, this is crazy. Also...do you think they speak English, or are we fucked?”
“Wait, can you speak Greek, Y/N?”
“I don’t think it’s exactly the same as what they spoke — or speak up there, but, no, not one of the languages I learned at SHIELD, wasn’t high on their list for me.”
“...Why do you know so many languages, Y/N?” Katy asked slowly.
“Blend in better when I went to kill people,” you shrugged as you checked your GPS. “Okay. We have a ways to go. The trail ends at Prionia. I don’t know if we go there, or if we just have to rent some gear and go up to the very tip of the mountain —“ The two of them groaned loudly, prompting you to do exactly what you thought you should do, abandon ship. “You’re right. This is dumb and exhausting, let’s go home.”
“No, no, come on. We’ll stop complaining,” Shangqi reached up and grabbed your thigh, his head falling back against your knee as he stared up at you. “We’re doing this. You went on my family’s crazy adventure, we’re going on yours.”
“Yeah. Plus, I want to brag about this to everyone we know. I may not be a lawyer, mom, but am I seeing Mount Olympus like in the Hercules movie and cartoon? Yes.”
You snorted and nodded, “Okay. Come on, then, just a little more to go.”
“That’s a kind way of putting it,” Katy whined as you stood up.
“Think of it as your cardio routine you keep putting off,” you said as you dusted off your pants. “Okay. Time to go.”
The three of you continued on your journey again, making it to Prionia late in the day, and having no clue of what to do next. Starving and tired, you went to a small restaurant to recover and get some much-needed food in your system. While your fiancé and best friend were looking through the menu, you were staring out the window and up at the mountain’s peak. Did you have to climb all the way up there? To what, jump off and hope it leads to another realm?
“Oh my god,” Katy moaned. “I want to fuck these potatoes.”
You chuckled to yourself until it hit you, and suddenly, you wanted to literally hit yourself, “Shit.”
“What?” Shangqi asked quickly.
“Remember how Katy drove us through the murder forest to get to Ta Lo and we ended up going through a —“
“No, not again,” Shangqi put his fork down. “I do not want to sit through that again.”
“No, no,” you said quickly. “I think we just need to...go back down and walk through the Enipeas waterfall.”
If looks could kill, you were certain they would have found the nearest reflective surfaces and killed themselves. They looked as though everything they ever did in life to lead them here was an instant regret, and you definitely had contributed to that, unfortunately for them. You offered an apologetic smile and said that dinner would be on you that evening, to which Katy sighed, nodded in agreement, and looked around for the nearest waiter so that she may add to her order.
You returned to staring out the window when you felt a gust of air blow. Your eyes traveled up and down to see where the wind was coming from but found nothing. You turned to Shangqi and Katy who were staring down at the table and frozen in place. Following their gaze, you saw yet another golden card resting on the table.
“Okay,” Shangqi nodded. “Maybe you should read it.”
“I don’t want to. I have so much regret over this trip already,” you mumbled quietly and grabbed the card. Joining Shangqi’s family affairs in another realm? Easy. Fighting Thanos? Stupid easy. Dealing with your own issues? Difficult.
Turning the card over, you read the cursive that glimmered against it.
Don’t turn around. You were right. You’re in the right place. Cross the bridge and wait by the arches.
“Good news, we don’t have to go back!”
“Thank god -- I’m not sending back what I ordered, though,” Katy said quickly.
“Bad news?” Shangqi asked.
“I don’t think so. Just a little short walk over the bridge and over to some arches. I guess we’ll just go from there.”
“So,” Katy cleared her throat and looked to you, hands folded on the table. “A gust of wind and suddenly a card, like if a person was running super, super fast. It’s almost like it’s Hermes trying to send you messages, right?”
Her grin was met by your cringing. You leaned forward on the table and held your face in your hands, “Norse gods I can handle, for some reason. Been there, done that, but, I mean, the Greek deities -- “
“It’s only weird because they’re related to you,” Shangqi reasoned. “Come on. This isn’t that bad, right? I mean, your boss keeps saying he’s the Devil.”
“This is true,” you nodded and sat up. “Okay. This is fine. I am badass. This is what I’ve always wanted, it’s no time to chicken out now.”
“There you go, babe,” Shangqi grinned and took your hand in his to give it a squeeze. “But if we have to walk another 12 miles to those arches, I’m sleeping in a tree tonight to rest.”
“That is absolutely fair, sweetheart.”
After dinner, the three of you once again were on your way. It was a short walk to the only bridge in town, and an even shorter one across it. Not far in the distance, you could see a set of crumbling, barely standing stone arches. You elbowed Katy and watched her shout in relief and thank Thor as she raced across the rest of the way to get there. You could feel a hand tugging on yours, and you looked over your shoulder and up to see Shangqi give you a warm smile before leaning down to steal a kiss and catch up to Katy.
The three of you stood by the arches and looked around for anything, a button, another golden card, something. If this was the door you were looking for, you had no idea how to use it to get through. You placed your hand on the arch and stared up at the sky trying to think of what to do when suddenly the stone around your hand glowed in a soft, golden hue. Shangqi cleared his throat to draw your attention, and you saw it.
“Well, damn,” you mumbled under your breath. When you pulled your hand away, the golden color disappeared. You placed your hand on it again and stared at it as the color returned. “Okay. So if I touch it, something happens, but how --”
You never finished your questioning. Suddenly, the ground opened up beneath you, dirt and rocks crumbling down before you started to go with it. You screamed and tried to hold on to the arch, but everything was falling just too fast. Shangqi grabbed your arm to try to pull you back, but he was sucked in as well. Katy grabbed his arm, and she was pulled in alongside him. The three of you were screaming as you shot down a tunnel of dirt, rocks, twigs, and possibly some questionable fossils buried deep in the earth. You burst through the earth, rolling, tumbling over each other until you all finally stopped.
Shangqi was coughing and spitting up dirt, Katy was pulling twigs from her hair, and you were sneezing uncontrollably until all the dirt was gone from your nose. When you three recovered, you looked at your surroundings. There was a cobbled road ahead of you, trees surrounding the pathway, a small town in the distance, and then when you looked up, you could see what looked like a rainbow bridge connecting the land to the sky, wherein the middle of the clouds you could see the opulence and grandeur of what one could imagine Mount Olympus to look like.
“Wow, this is happening,” you laughed a little as you all stood up. “This is amazing.”
“This is seriously better than the cartoons,” Katy muttered. “Not that Ta Lo wasn’t utterly amazing, but, wow.”
“It’s incredible,” Shangqi breathed in agreement. “Come on. Sun’s starting to set here, we should get going.”
“Yeah, before some big bad wolf comes out,” Katy teased.
You set forth on your journey once again. As you approached the town, you could see the people there. Just as one could imagine, long, flowing cloths and cloaks adorned their bodies, sandals, and sashes. Some were carrying large baskets, and you could see that a handful were carrying massive jugs, likely full of wine. This entire thing felt completely unreal, and a part of you wondered if you should’ve just stuck with your misconception that you were an alien, because if this place really existed, if these people were real…then who, exactly, were you meeting who claimed to be your father?
As the town grew closer, you could hear people screaming in fear. The three of you looked up to see actual harpies, creatures with a bird’s body and a woman’s head, shrieking as they descended on the town, their claws out to grab and pluck at the villagers.
“Katy, bow,” you said quickly as Shangqi rolled up his sleeves and the rings shot out of his backpack and onto his forearms. “Draw their attention this way.”
“Got it,” Katy nodded, opened her case, and quickly grabbed her bow and an arrow from it. She knelt down, aimed at the sky, and fired. It stuck a harpy in the wing who went crashing down to the ground. It also drew the attention of the villagers who were now looking to see what hero was saving them that day.
Three harpies swiftly turned and spotted the three of you. With a shriek, they started diving toward you. Katy nocked another arrow, Shangqi raised his fists, but you beat them to the kill. You opened your mouth and screamed, your power slamming into the harpies and making them stumble in flight. You kept screaming until one by one they all fell to the ground, blood pouring from their eyes, ears, and mouth. You stopped screaming when they hit the ground and straightened up. Just as you were about to say how easy it was, the harpy from earlier rose up and flew towards you. Shangqi quickly slammed a ring into its head, the ring cracking its skull and sending the harpy to her death before it returned to his forearm.
The villagers quietly, slowly approached the harpies to make sure they were dead before their eyes landed on you. You wondered how they felt about three people in weird clothes suddenly appearing and killing monsters. The three of you remained perfectly quiet as you tried to assess the situation and how they were going to react. At first, they were whispering to each other, eyes never leaving you before their group started to part down the middle. Walking down the middle in white with a red sash covering her eyes, a woman was seen smiling as she approached, stopping just in front of the harpies’ corpses.
“It seems the Broken One has returned,” She said, her face pointed in your direction which led you to believe she meant you.
“That’s kind of aggressive,” Katy said, as whispers grew and ‘Broken One’ was being repeated like a never-ending echo among the people.
“The Broken One from long ago has returned home,” the woman repeated. “I’m sure this was not the welcome you were hoping for.”
“Who are you?” Shangqi asked her.
“A person no more excited than what approaches.”
You wondered if that meant your father was approaching, but it couldn’t be. You heard what sounded like an army of footsteps, but then you saw ears appear behind the woman and a panting noise. Suddenly, leaping over the woman, a massive white wolf with bright blue eyes was in the air, soaring over the harpies. Before any of you could do anything, you were on the ground, the wolf on top of you, its paws on your shoulders. Katy was screaming, and Shangqi was about to hit the wolf when he noticed it wasn’t biting you -- but licking your face.
“What is happening?!” You shouted as you turned your head away to avoid drowning in wolf saliva. “What the fuck is this!?”
“This is amazing,” Katy started laughing when she realized you weren’t in danger. Shangqi even breathed a sigh in relief when he realized this massive creature was anything from violent as it started to nuzzle you, whimper, and slam its bodyweight down on top of you as it continued to lick your face.
“Why is this happening?!” You shouted, not getting any answers so far.
“White Wolf is yours,” the woman explained calmly. “Laurel, the White Wolf of Alejandra.”
This was strange. The only White Wolf you knew of was the overbearing super-soldier who occasionally gave you blood to keep you from dying an untimely death. Then there were these names, Laurel, Alejandra -- which seemed to be you, thanks to the quick deduction. It was bizarre to hear a name given to you that wasn’t what you had known all this time.
Laurel finally let up, climbing off of you and sitting on her haunches expectantly. You pursed your lips as you reached out to scratch under her jaw, surprised when she leaned in and nuzzled your palm. You looked around her to address the woman from earlier, but she was gone, and now the villagers were surrounding and studying the three of you.
“Am I high?” You asked out loud, looking up at Shangqi who was still trying to see where that woman had run off to.
“I….I don’t know,” he confessed as he helped you to stand up. “But this is getting a little creepy.”
“Yeah…” Katy stood closer to you, watching Laurel carefully as the wolf eyed her. “Can we, uh, get going?”
As though she understood Katy’s request, Laurel quickly got behind you, nudged your backside, and quickly got back in front of you to walk forward and lead the way. You were all of three steps in before there was another gust of wind. Instead of a card, this time was a tall, lithe man in a white toga with red and gold trim. His helmet was gold with white, feathered wings sprouting from the sides of it. He wore a grin on his face, blonde curls falling out of the helmet and framing it as his eyes met yours.
“It’s about time you got here! I almost thought I’d have to kidnap you myself. Well, you’re on the right track, just follow that road, up the hill on the sparkly rainbow bridge, and into the clouds. If you’ve passed the clouds, you’ve gone too far, see you there!” He explained quickly before turning on his heel. He cooed at Laurel, scratched her ears, and called her a good girl before disappearing in another gust of wind.
Shangqi threw his arms up in the air, “Was that fucking Hermes for real!?”
“You know what? I’ll say it. This is weirder than Morris, so much weirder, and he didn’t have a face!” Katy exclaimed as you stepped over the harpy bodies and continued your journey to Mount Olympus.

and moms Pyramid prison really, Skolio and it is the second highest peak in greece. and the number significant she sat right on it looking at arnies grave as she is a child molester. Thor Freya
The complicated geological past of the region is obvious from the morphology of Olympus and its National Park. Features include deep gorges and lots of smooth peaks, many of them over 2,000 metres (6,600 ft), including Aghios Antonios (2,815 metres (9,236 ft)), Kalogeros (2,700 metres (8,900 ft)), Toumpa (2,801 metres (9,190 ft)) and Profitis Ilias (2,803 metres (9,196 ft)). However, it is the central, almost vertical, rocky peaks, that impress the visitor. Over the town of Litochoro, on the horizon, the relief of the mountain displays an apparent V, between two peaks of almost equal height. The left limb is the peak named Mytikas (or Pantheon). It is Greece's highest peak. Then, on the right is Stefani (or Thronos Dios [Throne of Zeus – 2,902 metres (9,521 ft)]), which presents the most impressive and steep peak of Olympus, with its last sharply rising 200 meters presenting the greatest challenge for climbers. Further south, Skolio (40.0829°N 22.3571°E second highest sub-peak – 2,911 metres (9,551 ft)) completes an arc of about 200 degrees, with its steep slopes forming on the west side, like a wall, an impressive precipitous amphitheatrical cavity, 700 metres (2,300 ft) in depth and 1,000 metres (3,300 ft) in circumference, the 'Megala Kazania'. On the east side of the high peaks the steep slopes form zone like parallel folds, the 'Zonaria'. Even narrower and steeper scorings, the 'Loukia', lead to the peak.
Οn the north side, between Stefani and Profitis Ilias, extends the Muses' Plateau, at 2,550 metres (8,370 ft), while further south, almost in the center of the massif, extends the alpine tundra region of Bara, at an altitude of 2,350 metres (7,710 ft). Olympus has numerous ravines and gullies. Most distinguishable of the ravines are those of Mavrologos-Enipeas (14 km) and Mavratzas-Sparmos (13 km) near Bara and 'cut' the massif in two oval portions. On the southern foothills the great gorge of Ziliana, 13 km long, consists of a natural limit that separates the mountain from Lower Olympus. There are also many precipices and a number of caves, even nowadays[when?] unexplored. The form and layout of the rocks favor the emergence of numerous springs, mainly lower than 2,000 m, of small seasonal lakes and streams and of a small river, Enipeas, with its springs in the site Prionia and its estuary in the Aegean Sea.[10][11]

Turns out that I love @SkyRunning ! Really enjoyed the @OlympusMarathon - the mountain is epic! . After Friday’s #OlympusVertical I had a little feeling in my left tib ant, which I was a worried about but figured it would subside after I got going. On the morning of the #OlympusMarathon I started off well, building solidly through the first 6k road/easy trail section. As we moved into the single track I found I was able to run a lot of it, the vert training paid off despite not having any faster work yet-only steady hiking for ultra-pace. The leg didn't get better but when we picked up the poles at KM10.5 it made things easier, and again I felt great moving quickly up the steep sections and relaxing a bit on the steadier grades. I was moving so well that I was confused about what aid station was what because I was so far ahead of pace-suddenly we were starting the descent! My legs were not fast or agile on the downs, and I had a couple falls. Basically what happened was that I ended straining my left calf while compensating for the fact that I couldn’t pick up my left foot. So after a while I was reduced to hobbling because I couldn't put any weight on that leg. Thank god for the @leki poles or I'd still be up there (not joking). . I hobble/limped to the first aid station on the descent at "Refuge A" where the medics were concerned, but there wasn't really much option but to descend down to Prionia anyway, so I told them I was gonna keep moving to see if it eased up. It didn't. . By the time I got to Prionia they didn't even give me an option, they just took my number and told me to get in a car and go back to Litochoro 🤣. Not having the option to continue was nice. . Overall it was very positive in that I felt fit, had fun, raced hard and felt that my training had been successful. The lesson learned is that training for an Ultra, then switching to the VK and Marathon on back-to-back days without training for that type of intensity may not have been the best idea! Thanks to the amazing staff at @GloriaSportsArena I’m already moving forward- turns out I had some edema build up after the VK causing a compartment syndrome, shutting down muscles that move my foot.
