I'm not a cat person, so I automatically assume the cats are in administrative positions: Cat 1: Petting levels continue to drop, and I will not stand for it. Or for anything actually. Cat 2: I blame the required sexual harassment online meowdules! The residents must have assumed that we cats were included in the "no unwanted touches" guidelines. Cat 3: Uh, hello? We're cats? ALL touches are unwanted-- Cat 1: --unless they're not-- Cat 3: --unless they're not, in which case we will appreciate the touch and not destroy the human's hand-- Cat 1: --until they stop petting us, THEN we destroy. Cat 3: Precisely. Cat 2: My proposed solution is to have IT assign an online meowdule on "prioritizing cat satisfaction", with a deadline of... this evening. Cat 1: Ooh! Yes! With a prize for the department that has the highest percentage of meowdule completion before the deadline. Cats: PIZZA PARTY!

Well me Tumblies, I’ve recently been asked to step in as the family medicine clerkship director for Big State Med School’s branch campus at my hospital. So you know what that means….
Princeton-Medbloro real life edition may soon be a thing!
The caveat is… do I want the job?
I enjoy working with med students and wouldn’t mind stepping up my involvement with them, but admin stuff? Paperwork? Meetings? So not my jam.
Also my boys are now officially adopted (woot woot! Sorry for the delayed announcement!) so I’d rather not add more to my plate right now if possible.

My mom is anti self diagnosis and saying things like "not everything you read on the internet is true" to invalidate me like I'm sorry is the fucking CDC not a valid enough source for you??? Is the ASAN not reliable??? Also she is talking about "occupational therapy" for my spd and what even is that????????????
I want to quote @princeton-medbloro‘s (a occupational therapy student) post: “Occupational therapy is therapy that focuses on an individual’s ability to enjoy life the way they want to as a measure of success.
That means that, for an occupational therapist, the most important measure of whether they are succeeding in providing therapy is whether or not their patient is able to participate in the things they want to do.”
I don’t really see how that is used with spd, though… Do you have anyone else who you can talk to about being autistic? Self-diagnosis is valid: not everyone has access to a diagnosis (money issues, doctors who are ignorant about autism, etc). Your identity is okay and valid regardless of you mom. - Mod Venu// Edit: responses from followers

They can help you improve your motor skills, figure out tools that will work for you, like ear defenders, weighted blankets and chew jewellery, and get funding to cover that stuff if it’s available. They can teach you strategies to deal with sensory issues, and things you can work on to decrease issues, like training your ears to reduce auditory processing issues. OTs are a really commonly used therapy for younger people with SPD + autism.

Mostly it focused on identifying what I didn’t like/couldn’t handle then she did things and gave me things to do at home that like, exposed me to sensory stuff basically. To like, I guess get less sensitive to it.

A note on the door of the staff lounge
ATTENTION ALL STAFF
In accordance with new state health guidelines, the donuts normally found in the staff lounge will be replaced by unsalted rice cakes. Furthermore, all packages being brought into the hospital must pass through the donut detector. Thank you for your cooperation.
Sincerely, The State Health Department
