Its Odette Time! this is a slightly late submission for the ptutu aspec week prompt ‘Courage’. its a redraw/reframing of one of my FAVORITE shots in the show, the s1 finale pas de deux lift, seen under the cut.

now, you may be wondering, "nyan, who the hell is odette?" and. well. thats on me i havent actually posted her to tumblr yet. partially bc odettes main design is made by my brother, partially bc im not sure the people will like her, shes on my artfight (nyanbinary87) if you have that, but if you dont, the TLDR is that shes mytho AND tutu. like, post-finale, if the "the pendant was a heart shard" was more literal and transgender.

but hold on, this is ASPEC week, not trans week! why is she here? well, its up to the mods if this is okayed as a submission, since odette is primarily a trans headcanon of mine. but, she is Also aspec, and this piece aims to emphasize that aspect of her. see, one of my favorite things about odette is how she completely reframes mytho and tutus relationship from a semi-romantic one to one of self love. theres something so beautiful in your true self putting together your false self because she only wants your happiness, even if it means her disappearance.

to emphasize that, this tutu takes on a form less like duck's tutu form. she borrows elements from my brothers odette design, which is basically siegfrieds design on a dress, as well as dropping elements from duck to favor the actual swan lake odette, particularly in the hair.

Princess Tutu Aspec Week!!

First things first, if this sounds at all interesting, please fill out the form here! You don't have to be a contributor to fill out the form, it's mainly to generate ideas.

About:

Event run by @lesbianfakir! Don’t be shy about reaching out to me. This is a chill, no pressure week to celebrate aspec identities with a show we love. I’ve seen such amazing aspec headcanons within the tutu fandom and I’d love to have a week devoted to that!! The dates and/or prompts have yet to be decided (again please fill out the survey if you can) but I aim to do the week in about a month. I’ve never organized a fandom week before so if that’s not enough notice please let me know and I can extend the range of dates!

Rules (Subject to Change):

Hate will not be tolerated. All queer identities are welcome here, so no racism, sexism, ableism, queerphobia etc. Cishet aro men are queer there will be no arguing about that here.

Any identity or headcanon is welcome here as long as they don’t conflict with the other rules. If you want to make drosselmeyer demisexual I fear you deeply but more power to you. Identities don’t need to be mentioned by name within the body of the work, but do try to keep things relevant. Other queer headcanons (e.g. fakir is bisexual) are welcome but should not take the focus.

Please no NSFW. Since all the main characters are kids at the time of the show please don't make any explicit content for the week. It will not be reblogged to the official blog or be considered affiliated with the week. That said, it's often hard to talk about aspec identities without mentioning sex and/or romance. As such, aim to keep things PG-13. Mentions of explicit topics should be fine, just please nothing graphic. If you're unsure if something would be okay please reach out.

All images need an image description: This event should be accessible to everyone. If you don't know how to write a description don't let that deter you! Reach out to the main event blog. A mod can either help you with your description or write one for you.

Update

As some of you may have already seen, I (@raccoon-smiles) am now the head mod of this year's Princess Tutu Aspec Week due to extraneous situations with the other two mods. I hope to be able to run this show by myself with minimal support, but it will be little hard due to my job not allowing phones on shift. I ask that all people planning to participate this upcoming week refamiliarized themselves with the events rules to help this all go smoothly (the rules are linked in the pinned post on this account).

I can't wait to see all your amazing posts and hopefully make some of my own! Let's all work together to make this first time event go swimmingly!

We haven't had any submissions yet, and I realized I haven't posted to the main tag recently so that might be it. I can't wait to see what y'all make. Remember you can make art or fanfictions or character analysis or honestly whatever you want!

Remember to write image descriptions before posting tomorrow! I don't think we have any ID writing volunteers yet, but I am able to write them if need be. I highly recommend people try to learn how to write IDs themselves. It is a great skill to have, and there are some great resources out there to learn.

Curious how it will work if we want to help write image descriptions—would we be working with artists before the art is posted or just adding IDs to any undescribed art after the fact? And will there be any formalized pairing-up between artists and ID writers or will it be more of a loose thing? Sorry to bombard you with questions, I’ve just never participated in a fan event where this was an option. Thank you for making it one! :)

The idea is that artists who want help with their IDs can contact this blog and we'll match them with someone willing to help work on the ID. I'd like to have communication between the artist and ID writer if possible so things run as smoothly as possible. IDs should be written before the art is posted, so after the art is completed but before its posted.
