The Meaning Of Villains' Names (ft Vogel)
Inspired by the post @.cherryisagamer made for Ikemen Prince here
Take most of these with a grain of salt, because of Cybird's weird naming tendancy as well as how names are in most cases are perceived in various ways by everyone. Also included extra information because I'm a silly little nerd.
Name: William Rex
Meaning:
âWilliamâ meaning âresolute protection/protectorâ
âRexâ meaning âkingâ
William is actually German in origin. It derives from the Germanic Wilhelm, whose roots wil (âwill, desireâ) and helm (âhelmet, protectionâ) combine to mean âresolute protectorâ
Name: Liam Evans
Meaning:
âLiamâ is the Irish short form of âWilliamâ, therefore same meaning as him
âEvansâ meaning âthe Lord is graciousâ
Evans is a boyâs name of Welsh origin. An Anglicized form of Ifan, which stems from the Hebrew John, it translates to âgraced by Yahwehâ or âGod is gracious.â
Name: Harrison Gray (I had to go check if his last name was with an e or a)
Meaning:
âHarrisonâ meaning âson of Harryâ
âGrayâ meaning... âof a colour intermediate between black and white, as of ashes or leadâ
Originating primarily from Scotland, Gray is a descriptive surname that gained popularity in England. It described someone with gray hair or complexion. Alternatively, the surname Gray had habitational roots associated with those hailing from Graye-sur-Mer, Normandy.
Name: Elbert Greetia
Meaning:
âElbertâ, a variation of Albert, meaning ânoble; brightâ
âGreetiaâ... from written records, it appears to have been used as an actual surname during the 1800s but I couldn't find any info regarding its meaning.
This masculine name has Old English and German roots, coming from the name Albert. Translating to âbright,â ânoble,â or âfamous.â
Name: Alfons Sylvatica
Meaning:
âAlfonsâ (there are many variants btw) meaning ânoble; ready; braveâ
âSylvaticaâ comes from the scientific name for forget-me-nots, âMyosotis sylvaticaâ
Alphons is a masculine name of German origin. Composed of apalaz and funsaz, it means âready for battle,â ânoble,â and âbrave.â This sweet moniker is thought to be ultimately derived from the Latin Alphonsus and boasts a wide variety of variants, such as Alfonso, Alfonzo, and Alphonso.
Name: Roger Barel
Meaning:
âRogerâ meaning âfamous warriorâ
âBarelâ... denoting a âcourageous or brave personâ
This name is forged from the German elements hrod and ger, imbuing it with the striking translation of "famous spearman."
Name: Jude Jazza
Meaning:
âJudeâ meaning âpraisedâ and praised is he in the jp server
âJazzaâ... I think saw a post here saying how it's a form of Jeremy? But I can't find it now. There's something similar in Arabic I found however, âJazaâ (pronounced differently, there's not much emphasis on the Z afaik) meaning âreward; recompense; good returnâ which I find fitting his themes of retribution for those not keeping promises and debts, how he keeps all his promises etc.
Name: Ellis Twilight
Meaning:
âEllisâ meaning âkind; benevolentâ
âTwilightâ in its literal sense, âduskâ. His eyes contains a similar colour palette + I believe it is a reoccurring theme with him
Name: Victoria
Meaning: âVictorâ meaning âconquerorâ
Victor is one of the earliest Christian names, borne (as Vittorio) by several saints and popes, symbolizing Christ's victory over death. Victor made it big in the English-speaking world during the reign of Queen Victoria, one of the few boysâ names popularized by a female version.
Name: Darius Vogel
Meaning:
âDariusâ meaning âpossessing goodness; maintains possessions wellâ
âVogelâ... German for âbirdâ.
Name: Nica Schwarz/Schwartz (I tried to do some research and it seems like both spellings are used. Please correct me if I'm wrong.)
Meaning:
âNicaâ meaning âvictory; very good; pure crystal waterâ
âSchwarz/Schwartzâ... German for âblackâ
Nica appears to have many origins, including Slavic, Persian and Greek. But I'm somewhat inclined to believe his name has something to do with water, as it would go well with Ring's name (Lynn.)
Name: Ring Schwarz/Schwartz
...Cybird has made questionable choices. So I went with what sounded nearest to his name: Lynn (it's so so much cuter for him)
Meaning:
âRingâ meaning âa small circular band, typically of valuable metalâ
âLynnâ meaning âlake, waterfall, pool below a waterfallâ
âSchwarz/Schwartzâ... German for âblackâ

Question: âWhat does it mean to surrender to God?â Answer: This world is a battleground. Since the fall of man in the Garden of Eden (Genesis 3:17-19), the world God created has been in conflict with Him (Romans 8:20-22). Satan is called the "god of this world" (2 Corinthians 4:4), and due to Adamâs sin, we are born on his team (Romans 5:12). John Bunyan pictured this conflict in his allegory The Holy War. Prince Emmanuel besieges the city of Mansoul to wrest it from the power of Diabolus. Unfortunately, the citizens of Mansoul are blindly committed to Diabolus and fight against Emmanuel, to their own detriment.
When we reach the age when we can make moral choices, we must choose whether to follow our own sinful inclinations or to seek God (see Joshua 24:15). God promises that when we seek Him with all our hearts, we will find Him (Jeremiah 29:13). When we find Him, we have a choice to make: do we continue following our own inclinations, or do we surrender to His will?
Surrender is a battle term. It implies giving up all rights to the conqueror. When an opposing army surrenders, they lay down their arms, and the winners take control from then on. Surrendering to God works the same way. God has a plan for our lives, and surrendering to Him means we set aside our own plans and eagerly seek His. The good news is that Godâs plan for us is always in our best interest (Jeremiah 29:11), unlike our own plans that often lead to destruction (Proverbs 14:12). Our Lord is a wise and beneficent victor; He conquers us to bless us.
There are different levels of surrender, all of which affect our relationship with God. Initial surrender to the drawing of the Holy Spirit leads to salvation (John 6:44; Acts 2:21). When we let go of our own attempts to earn Godâs favor and rely upon the finished work of Jesus Christ on our behalf, we become a child of God (John 1:12; 2 Corinthians 5:21). But there are times of greater surrender during a Christianâs life that bring deeper intimacy with God and greater power in service. The more areas of our lives we surrender to Him, the more room there is for the filling of the Holy Spirit (Ephesians 5:18). When we are filled with the Holy Spirit, we exhibit traits of His character (Galatians 5:22). The more we surrender to God, the more our old self-worshiping nature is replaced with one that resembles Christ (2 Corinthians 5:17).
Romans 6:13 says that God demands that we surrender the totality of our selves; He wants the whole, not a part: âDo not offer any part of yourself to sin as an instrument of wickedness, but rather offer yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life; and offer every part of yourself to him as an instrument of righteousness.â Jesus said that His followers must deny themselves (Mark 8:34)âanother call to surrender.
The goal of the Christian life can be summed up by Galatians 2:20: "I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me." Such a life of surrender is pleasing to God, results in the greatest human fulfillment, and will reap ultimate rewards in heaven (Luke 6:22-23).

3rd April >> Mass Readings (USA)
Easter WednesdayÂ
(Liturgical Colour: White. Year: B(II))
First Reading
Acts of the Apostles 3:1â10
What I do have I give you: in the name of the Lord Jesus, rise and walk.
Peter and John were going up to the temple area for the three oâclock hour of prayer. And a man crippled from birth was carried and placed at the gate of the temple called âthe Beautiful Gateâ every day to beg for alms from the people who entered the temple. When he saw Peter and John about to go into the temple, he asked for alms. But Peter looked intently at him, as did John, and said, âLook at us.â He paid attention to them, expecting to receive something from them. Peter said, âI have neither silver nor gold, but what I do have I give you: in the name of Jesus Christ the Nazorean, rise and walk.â Then Peter took him by the right hand and raised him up, and immediately his feet and ankles grew strong. He leaped up, stood, and walked around, and went into the temple with them, walking and jumping and praising God. When all the people saw him walking and praising God, they recognized him as the one who used to sit begging at the Beautiful Gate of the temple, and they were filled with amazement and astonishment at what had happened to him.
The Word of the Lord
R/ Thanks be to God.
Responsorial Psalm
Psalm 105:1â2, 3â4, 6â7, 8â9
R/ Rejoice, O hearts that seek the Lord. or R/ Alleluia.
Give thanks to the LORD, invoke his name; make known among the nations his deeds. Sing to him, sing his praise, proclaim all his wondrous deeds.
R/ Rejoice, O hearts that seek the Lord. or R/ Alleluia.
Glory in his holy name; rejoice, O hearts that seek the LORD! Look to the LORD in his strength; seek to serve him constantly.
R/ Rejoice, O hearts that seek the Lord. or R/ Alleluia.
You descendants of Abraham, his servants, sons of Jacob, his chosen ones! He, the LORD, is our God; throughout the earth his judgments prevail.
R/ Rejoice, O hearts that seek the Lord. or R/ Alleluia.
He remembers forever his covenant which he made binding for a thousand generationsâ Which he entered into with Abraham and by his oath to Isaac.
R/ Rejoice, O hearts that seek the Lord. or R/ Alleluia.
Sequence
Victimae Paschali Laudes
Christians, to the Paschal Victim Offer your thankful praises! A Lamb the sheep redeems; Christ, who only is sinless, Reconciles sinners to the Father. Death and life have contended in that combat stupendous: The Prince of life, who died, reigns immortal. Speak, Mary, declaring What you saw, wayfaring. âThe tomb of Christ, who is living, The glory of Jesusâ resurrection; bright angels attesting, The shroud and napkin resting. Yes, Christ my hope is arisen; to Galilee he goes before you.â Christ indeed from death is risen, our new life obtaining. Have mercy, victor King, ever reigning! Amen. Alleluia.
Gospel Acclamation
Psalm 118:24
Alleluia, alleluia. This is the day the LORD has made; let us be glad and rejoice in it. Alleluia, alleluia.
Gospel
Luke 24:13â35
They recognized Jesus in the breaking of the bread.
That very day, the first day of the week, two of Jesusâ disciples were going to a village seven miles from Jerusalem called Emmaus, and they were conversing about all the things that had occurred. And it happened that while they were conversing and debating, Jesus himself drew near and walked with them, but their eyes were prevented from recognizing him. He asked them, âWhat are you discussing as you walk along?â They stopped, looking downcast. One of them, named Cleopas, said to him in reply, âAre you the only visitor to Jerusalem who does not know of the things that have taken place there in these days?â And he replied to them, âWhat sort of things?â They said to him, âThe things that happened to Jesus the Nazarene, who was a prophet mighty in deed and word before God and all the people, how our chief priests and rulers both handed him over to a sentence of death and crucified him. But we were hoping that he would be the one to redeem Israel; and besides all this, it is now the third day since this took place. Some women from our group, however, have astounded us: they were at the tomb early in the morning and did not find his Body; they came back and reported that they had indeed seen a vision of angels who announced that he was alive. Then some of those with us went to the tomb and found things just as the women had described, but him they did not see.â And he said to them, âOh, how foolish you are! How slow of heart to believe all that the prophets spoke! Was it not necessary that the Christ should suffer these things and enter into his glory?â Then beginning with Moses and all the prophets, he interpreted to them what referred to him in all the Scriptures. As they approached the village to which they were going, he gave the impression that he was going on farther. But they urged him, âStay with us, for it is nearly evening and the day is almost over.â So he went in to stay with them. And it happened that, while he was with them at table, he took bread, said the blessing, broke it, and gave it to them. With that their eyes were opened and they recognized him, but he vanished from their sight. Then they said to each other, âWere not our hearts burning within us while he spoke to us on the way and opened the Scriptures to us?â So they set out at once and returned to Jerusalem where they found gathered together the Eleven and those with them who were saying, âThe Lord has truly been raised and has appeared to Simon!â Then the two recounted what had taken place on the way and how he was made known to them in the breaking of the bread.
The Gospel of the Lord
R/ Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ.

Love this picture. We have watched many of those babies grow and live their live outs through the time-traveling magic of photography. Dagmar was young and gorgeous, holding dear Georgie in her arms. He was already scanning the landscape with his sharp blue eyes.

âFirst Canon: Assuming that a prince has authority to make war, he should first of all not go seeking occasions and causes of war, but should, if possible, live in peace with all men as St. Paul enjoins on us.
Second Canon: When war for a just cause has broken out it must not be waged so as to ruin the people to whom it is directed, but only so as to obtain one's rights and the defense of one's country and in order that from that war peace and security may in time result.
Third Canon: When victory has been won, victory should be utilized with moderation and Christian humility, and the victor ought to deem that he is sitting as judge between two states, the one which has been wronged and the one which has done the wrong, so that it will be as judge and not as accuser that he will deliver the judgment whereby the injured state can obtain satisfaction, and this, so far as possible, should involve the offending state in the least degree of calamity and misfortune, the offending individuals being chastised within lawful limits.â

Halloween Couple Costumes
Words: 783
Summary: you and Dieter must decide on your Halloween costume for this year
Warnings: Dieter being an adorable mess, mentions of pregnancy
Check out masterlist here
You needed to find Dieter; you had something very important to discuss with him. You found him lounging on the couch covered in paint, which was normal for him.
"Dieter, we need to figure out what weâre going as for Halloween this year.â
âHoney cakes, itâs the middle of July.â
âExactly, we have less than three months to get our costume ready!â
Dieter could only smile at your enthusiasm; Halloween was your holiday, and you took it as seriously as Heidi Klum.
You were both excited dressing up for Halloween together as a couple. Dieter dressed up for a living, but he enjoyed dressing up for Halloween nearly as much as you did.
That first year, as you had only just become a couple, there wasnât much time to organise anything proper, so you gave him a bear costume you bought in a store. He thought he was going as Baloo from The Jungle Book, so he had his rendition of The Bare Necessities ready to perform. But then you showed up in a white dress and floral crown; you were ready to go as Dani and Christian from Midsommar. Youâd think it being set during the day, it would be a less scary film was Dieterâs thought and it still scared him. He still sang his song which you found adorable.
The next year, Dieter wanted the theme to be a sexy one. So, you went as Rick and Evie OâConnell from The Mummy. You reassured him he was very sexy in his costume as you could barely keep your hands off him.
The year after, Dieter requested that you go as Belle and Prince Adam from Beauty and the Beast which delighted you. This Halloween was a very special one as it was the one in which he proposed to you. You were wearing gloves at the time so he couldnât put the ring on straightaway, but it was still the most romantic thing ever.
The following year, you went as Victor and The Corpse Bride as you were both still in the honeymoon phase.
And now to this yearâs costume:
âYou wrote a list; didnât you honey cakes?â
âOf course I did!â
You pulled out your Halloween costume planning notebook. Yes, you had one of those; one of the many things your husband loved about you.
âWe havenât done The Addams Family yet, or Nightmare Before Christmas, orâŚâ
âShouldnât we do something involving cupcake?â
âCupcake?â
You looked down at your baby bump which was along the six-month mark.
âOh, I guess we should, but I havenât come up with any ideas yetâŚâ a thought then came to you, âOh, I could do a chest burster!â
The thought horrified Dieter. Your cravings seemed to get more and more gory the further along your pregnancy you got. So long as you didnât feel the need to eat raw meat, you were fine, watching so many slasher films. He would just happily wait in the bedroom until you got your other craving which he was happy to help out with. Last night was three hours of pure bliss and then another hour this morning.
âNoâŚâ he gave a sigh of relief, âI canât think of how to include you. Trying to fit a costume around a baby bump is hard. I should just give up and be a pumpkin.â
Your sigh in frustration was a sign for Dieter to offer kisses and cuddles. He found any excuse to touch your bump and connect with his unborn child. Not once did he ever think heâd deserve a life like this. It was worth more than an Oscar or any award.
âYouâd be an adorably sexy pumpkin.â
âMaybeâŚâ
âI may have an ideaâŚâ
You looked up at him in question.
âIt could be that I have Winnie the Pooh on the brain, but you could go as that, and I could be Tigger?â
You hadnât answered him yet, so he continued.
âI mean we could always disguise cupcake as a honey pot if you feel self-conscious aboutâŚâ
You pulled him into a kiss. âI love it! And I love you!â
âYou do?â
âOf course I love you.â
âNo, I mean theâŚâ
âI love the costume idea. Itâs perfect.â
Dieter had only recently gotten used to being given some genuine praise, so it was still a little new and weird to him. But as it was mainly from you, he welcomed it.
âDieterâ
âYes honey cakes?â
âWhy do you have Winnie the Pooh on the brain?â
âWell, I have to show you the nursery.â
The mystery of Dieter being covered in paint was explained. The freshly painted mural on one wall of the nursery was beautiful.

Jack the Ripper and ST: Part 2, âEddyâ Victor and James Stephen
Among the hundreds of suspects for who really was Jack the Ripper, one of the strongest contenders was actually a duo; Prince Albert âEddyâ Victor and James Kenneth Stephen.
In part 1, I emphatically argued for Edwardâs role as JTR, but he may not have been working totally alone. Of the four suspects Iâll discuss in these parts, Eddy fits with Edward extremely well and the only reason he wasnât taken in as JTR was because it wouldâve been physically impossible for him to be in the place of the murders. That wouldnât exactly be an issue for our Edward, would it?
Below the cut, Iâll establish parallels because theyâre genuinely just as interesting than the murders themself, the relationship Eddy and James had, how they wouldâve functioned as murderers vs how Edward and his partner did function as murderers, and how both of them died.
Establishing Parallels
Edward
First, the most obvious of parallels, names. Prince Albert Victor os the name heâs known by historically, but his full name was Albert Victor Christian Edward and the name the world called him was Eddy.
In his full name we see direct connections to Victor, Edwardâs father, Christianity (which is a major theme in the show after the Creels are introduced), and, of course, Edward. The prince couldâve paralleled Victor Creel, but he chooses to go by Eddy. Not Victor, not even Edward, but Eddy. Now, this guy definitely is meant to parallel Edward Creel when we look at his childhood (which we will), but his choice of going by Eddy not only reinforces Eddy being Edward, but it contributes to the theory of Edward becoming Eddie by overtaking his corpse as his own mangled body is unusable after the burns â aka, Eddie puppet theory.
Even more than just the names, there were reports of Eddy as a child that sound eerily similar to our own Creel history. It was said that Eddy had an, ââŚelegant and possessive mother⌠âwant of manlinessâ⌠âshrinking from horseplayâ⌠[and a] âsweet, gentle, quiet and charmingâ nature.â That doesnât sound familiar? Try this one.
ââŚthey would like to make a man of the world of him. Into that world he refused to be initiated.â
Come on.
Eddy also had a younger brother, born so close in age they were treated like twins. They went through education together and the educators refused to separate them because, without his brother, Eddyâs teachers felt like they could not teach him. He was far too âmentally absentâ. Broken, if you will.
Again?
thanks em
Another fun little experience Eddy had once he was older was with Oscar Browning, who, âmade pets of those undergraduates who were handsome and attractive.â
Iâm not even gonna say it because I hate it!
Even moreso, his family held the high expectation for him to marry a woman who was charming, sensible, and pretty. He failed to achieve this goal several times, likely because he was homosexual.
Peter
Yeah. Heâs here because god forbid I make ONE post without him working his way in. Hereâs a real nice parallel to James Stephen â where Peter is most heavily noticed by the Saint Peter painting in the Russian church, James Stephen was a member of the Apostles intellectual society. Saint Peter us one of Jesusâ twelve Apostles.
James Stephen also has a cousin names Virginia Woolfe! This would also mean that Edward and Peter were likely cousins, seeing as Virginia is Edwardâs sister, and then being cousinsâŚ. is really fucking funny.
I love it when bad couples parallel bad couples.
One more little thing is that James Stephen was a poet, and much of what he wrote can reflect the show with mentions of curses and melodies,
as well as the concept of twins demonstrating the contrast and similarity as a huge theme in mankind.
Peterâs parallels may not seem strong right now, but itâs hard to draw a ton of parallels to a character who doesnât yet exist. Just trust me.
Homosexuality
When James and Eddy met, it was because James had been chosen to tutor Eddy before he was to be sent to Trinity College. While Eddy wouldâve been 24, figuring out the time this took place in Edwardâs life isnât difficult because of the Brenner figure I mentioned earlier. Eddy met the man who would treat people as his pets during his first semester at Trinity College, which draws the comparison between the lab and the college, effectively placing Peter and Edwardâs time right before Edward was sent off to Brenner. Makes pretty damn good sense if theyâre meant to be an alternate version of Creelarke.
Iâd like to consider this time to be when Peter and Edward were in some sort of summer program together, or something similar. This post by @aemiron-main points out the very likely possibility of Owens being Edwardâs father and how, although I have called Peter Owensâ son in the past, the inly information we have that connects him to Owens is that he has Peterâs old school projects. Considering the summer camp is directly connected to both Ruth and Rose being in the same place as Petey McHew, we get this: Rose (Creel), Ruth (Owens), and Petey (Peter) were all in the same place at the same time during the summer.
Itâs possible that Owens, as Edwardâs father, had Peter help Edward in a summer school before they moved to Hawkins for the new school year.
This relationship is especially fascinating because James was a Christian man who actively participated in Christian activities (see; apostles society) â itâs likely this summer was teaching more than math and science. Where Hames was highly intellectual in comparison to Edward, this may translate to Peterâs greater success at pretending to be normal and straight compared to Edwardâs ability to do the same.
Any feelings James felt for Eddy were very intense despite this. Strong enough to write about hating a specific woman and a specific man in his poem Men and Women. He was enraged by everything about this woman and this man was described in grief as his body became vacant of his soul and was nothing more than a corpse. He also mentions a missing eye replaced with glass in this man. Familiar?
Itâs all familiar because the duffers fucking hate me and want me dead.
James also killed himself because of Edwardâs death. By the way. What normal, heterosexual behavior.
Eddy was also heavily accused of homosexuality numerous times throughout his life by family, friends, press, and even historians. It wasnât just James either, oh no, the entire Cleveland Scandal (involvement with a homosexual brothel) followed him for the rest of his life.
These bitches gay.
As Murderers
Hereâs where things get really interesting.
1886 â two years before the Whitechapel murders â James suffered a massive head injury. He was struck by an object from a moving train, permanently altering his brain.
His behavior quickly devolved and he became deluded that he was a painter of great geniusâŚ
âŚand he eventually proclaimed that the doctors told him he would either die or go completely mad.
He was committed to an asylum in 1891.
Not only is the Phineas Gage parallel coming back, itâs being tied to the time Will was being used as a puppet by Edward. Edward learned that tactic from somewhere.
In the theory that James and Eddy were a murderous duo, it was suspected that James was the one controlling Eddy because his profile matches JtR so well. His hatred for women and mental status are the source of this belief. Their relationship in murder was described as, ââŚmutually dependent, with Stephen as the dominant partner.â
This dynamic could very sell explain why thereâs so much puppetry in Vecnaâs image.
i ran out of image room :(
Although Peter is no longer an active participant, Edward is still being guided by his ideals. Puppeteered, even. It isnât something he rejects.
There are so, so many parallels between characters in ST and JtRâs victims, but this is already long. Iâll simply say that the death of Mary Jane Kelly is extremely similar to what we see in Mother Aliceâs bedrooom, and I already pointed out the F in the first part. Iâd only recommend looking into MJK if youâre very comfortable with looking at gore.
Also, Eddyâs tomb is surrounded by Saints. Peter follows him to death and beyond (which is about to be really ironic).
Deaths
Iâll keep this bit quick.
James died in 1892 due to mania triggered by the death of Eddy. He starved himself for 20 days as an act of suicide, seeing as he was in an asylum and didnât have many choices. The timeline would indicate that Peter died in 1964, which also happens to be the year Kali was born in London.
That deserves its own post I think.
More importantly is Eddyâs death. Supposedly, he died if pneumonia, but it is theorized that his death was faked to remove him from his line of succession to the throne, which is cool on its own but what makes it really good is that media chose Eddy to be the one who takes the Dracula persona I mentioned in part 1. There was also a novel written after his death called the The Prince of Mirrors which is about his life with James.
There also happens to be a Sherlock Holmes interpretation of him in Sherlock Holmes: The Hidden Years, which shows him as a tyrannical ming who rules after the mysterious deaths of his grandmother and father. The throne he supposedly died to be removed from.
Thereâs a lot influencing this after-death image of Eddy in Dracula and kingship, which makes Vecnaâs name of the Undying King pretty ironic.
