My favourite part of this is the man holding a sign saying “YOU ARE NOT ALONE” with (what I assume is) his phone number underneath. Sodomy laws in Canada had been repealed only six years before. Everett George Klippert, the last man in Canada to be convicted for homosexuality, had been released only four years before. The Brunswick Four had had their trials just over a year before. I hope someone saw that sign, and even if you didn’t ever call, felt a little less alone

MORE PRIDE STUFF

So I don't have any pictures for this, but I want to talk about a QPOC event that I just got home from. I went to an open mic and at first I was scared because it was a crowd of people who I didn't know. For those of you who don't know, QPOC Winnipeg is an organization in winnipeg who are all about making safe spaces for queer people of colour (which explains the abbreviation "QPOC") The whole night was amazing. There were jokes made in this setting that I could never make in one of my every day settings, and when I performed, everyone was so supportive and it felt amazing. Throughout the night, I had realized that this was one of the only times where I actually felt like I belong. I actually felt proud about my sexuality, my skin colour, and myself in general. It was a euphoric feeling, and I wouldn't trade it for the world.
