Pride Month~ Day 1: Stonewall Riots

While celebrating pride month, let’s remember what started this large festival. The Stonewall Riots in 1969, of June 28.

They were a pivotal point in history, which solidified what we now know and have the right to celebrate— as Pride Month.

Remember Marsha P. Johnson. A transgender woman who played a large role in obtaining rights and being recognized as transgender.

Remember the sacrifices and deaths caused by the NYPD at the time. And most importantly, let us remember and reflect on how long it took for the USA (specifically the White House) to recognize this month. (The White House had lit up rainbow colors on June 26, 2015.

Which is also the day of the Supreme Court's Obergefell v. Hodges decision— which granted same-sex couples federal marriage rights.)

Let us remember and continue to respect everyone, as only we can dictate the future— with our actions and our words.

Pride Month Day 1

So context: I play on an adult rec league soccer team and there’s this one guy on the team that I talk to frequently bc he frequently starts conversations with me.

2 weeks ago he asked me out, though I’m one of those people who can’t tell the difference between a relative stranger asking you out on a date versus asking to hangout. I brushed it off because I had queer plans that weekend—Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour obviously.

So for tonight’s game I brought a guy friend of mine to prevent this guy from asking me out again.

Plot twist: He asked both me and my guy friend out.

Therefore, it’s day 1 of Pride Month and I, a bi-asexual, made a heteronormative assumption in 2023.

Honestly? I don’t find the guy on my team attractive (bc for me I don’t find many people attractive even if objectively good-looking), but my guy friend did LOL.

Happy pride and be on the lookout for that rizz. It’s out of control these days~

RATING PRIDE FLAGS: DAY 1 2??

Soo... Of Course I set out something to do over pride month and then miss the LITERAL FIRST DAY Buttt... I'm gonna start it now !! at 12am!! wooo DAY 1 (or 2): THE PROGRESS FLAG

BOTH VARIANTS!

1. BOTH FLAGS

Okay--- So, Based on looks alone, these two flags have always historically been my favourites. I guess it's a really simple yet complex design as a whole? It's everything amazing about the Pride Flag: It has way too many colours, and is way too hard to draw to be a good flag design,,, BUT STILL WORKS??

Because of this, The Progress Flags work soo well with what they represent. They do break the rules of flag design, but the fact that they still mean so much and still work so well aesthetically, as flags? beautiful--- 100%, 10/10, Amazing.

2. The Differences

Okay... So, The only thing that seperates them is the representation of Intersex people on the second flag. In the past, I have normally disliked that aesthetically- as I believed it pushed the flag from 'overcomplicated in a good way' to 'overcomplicated in an impossible way'--- However, I've really gotta say, My opinion has changed. While I do love the extra space my identity- the trans colours, get on the Progress Flag... Intersex Representation adds so much to this flag, and I don't know, the extra number of arrows look rad as hell?? OVERALL, Newer Progress Flag just over-all wins for me. (I mean, as a flag, including the meaning, it was always better due to the representation anyways--) Buttt yea !! That's all for today !! That's today's lil Pride Flag Rant over !! hehe
