i think i only said this in tags but i genuinely think i cooked when i said that the hard launch DID happen — fifteen years ago, when neither of them knew just how many eyes would end up on them. people knew back then! a big reason why the phandom was so sure of their relationship is their tweets and formsprings and askfm questions! they were the most annoying couple you know in 2009!

when you compare this current era to 2009/2010 it starts to feel less like brand new territory and more like a return to an old way of interacting with the world at large. this is pure speculation on my part but i do think that, for d&p, a lot of the past year has been about accepting and loving not only the past 15 years and the audience/creator dynamic that developped for better and for worse, but also accepting that there is a REASON people knew about them, and that reason is that they told us. I keep going back to it but: did you miss the memo? we know you know. did you miss the memo?

the more i think about it the more "they act like they did hard launch without having actually done it" feels both more and less accurate. they ARE acting like they hard launched. because they're more than aware that, for all intents and purposes, they did. over a decade ago. it was the most fun they ever had!

I do think they're probably hard launching/get married but I don't think that's what they're teasing. I think that's going to happen IN ADDITION to whatever they're teasing bc dnp like to do big projects at the same time as major life events for some reason. Idt they would hype up a wedding or hard launch like this. They've definitely been dropping hints, but I think that has more to do with them liking to ease into big scary life changes rather than jumping in headfirst. I think that they'll either hard launch before the tour announcement or right after so there isn't that elephant in the room when they meet fans and do promo. then they'll rebrand the gaming channel to "dan and phil" and continue to make the content they were before with little to no changes. I'm definitely wrong about all of this but maybe not! We'll see lol

okok you're right that they wouldn't tease a hard launch like this but listen hear me out this is why a doc or something retrospective would make sense... they could hard launch through it in a way that they get to control the narrative, say what they want to say, etc. but like they wouldnt just be giving us details for the sake of airing their personal lives yk they'd be talking about it in a way that it's them finally being able to tell their story on their own terms... so that comes along with a channel rebrand ("since we've built not just our lives but also a career together, we want a joint channel that will be reflective of more types of content than just gaming" some shit like that right). then after that + ppl have calmed down is when they go on tour do u see the vision
