Progress is happening!
Crafter/Gatherer Leveling
Tumblr media
All my gatherers are now 80+. I've finished all my Crystarium deliveries and now I'm just working on leveling my last few crafters: Alchemist, Carpenter, and Armorer. Closer and closer to my omnicrafter dreams.
Combat Job Leveling
Tumblr media
(Blue Mage I am saving for endgame so I'm not counting it among my present goals.)
Slowly but surely Machinist continues to climb. I'm honestly a bit sick of it at this point (it's not bad, it's just my least favorite of the physical ranged) but every ten levels means another set I can clear out of the armory chest, and the prospect of having that whole right column done calls to me.
Meanwhile, two very exciting malmstones this week!
First: I have no more under-30s. Monk was the last one, and now all my regular jobs are 30+. This leaves me with 4 jobs on the road to 50. I'm working on Dragoon first because I want to see the story, even though I am late to it. I'm looking forward to seeing wtf happens with Estinien. I will probably prioritize getting everything to 50 next, as that will also cut way down on armory chest clutter.
Second: I hit 70 with Gunbreaker and started the tank role quest! I'm so excited about this. There was a point at which finishing all the role quests before Endwalker felt incredibly daunting if still possible; now it feels eminently doable. I've been doing most of my leveling in MSQ roulette, as it's predictable, easy to tank, and gives a good chunk of XP especially with the Adventurer in Need bonus which is often up for tank. While doing that I've also been taking Warrior through leveling roulette, but now that I have it to 50 I've stopped, because level 50 opens up a buttload of dungeons which I need to learn, many of them optional so I can't duty support them first. :') I need to queue for them one by one and get it over with, I've just been putting it off.
That said, I'm at the point where I'm actually starting to enjoy tanking. Gunbreaker is definitely my favorite right now, but I like Warrior as well. Dark Knight I've done very little with so far, and Paladin is... eh. I've never been that excited by sword-and-board classes in RPGs so I guess that's to be expected! I'm still nervous about unfamiliar duties, but less than I used to be. I don't shy away from bigger pulls anymore. @farfromdaylight has been teaching me how to tank trials, and alliance raids are next on the list. I still have a lot to do, but it feels more and more doable.
Other Goals
Last night, I finished my very first tribal questline, the Ehcatl Nine! It really did work better for me to pick just one tribe to focus on, as it made me feel like I was actually making tangible progress. And I really enjoyed the ending! The tedium of the daily quests aside, it is indeed really cool to see these people you've been working with all this time finally realize their dream, or at least the first stage of it. And the resolution of Tataramu's story with his father was great too.
It's tempting to pick another ARR tribe next, but I think I'm instead going to prioritize the other crafting tribes while I still have crafters that can benefit from them, so... I think it's Moogle time!
In non-game goals, I did scratch 100 words a day in December after remembering why I don't make writing goals in December. :P Now that the holidays are past, though, I am looking forward to getting writing back into my life. I did get my November bits organized, which I'm happy about! I am figuring out some specific writing goals for the new year, but that's another post.
I'm still way behind on sorting through screenshots, so I definitely need to put some time into that. :P But I just wanna playyyyy.
In between, I have also had fun crafting Ariane some new glams, which I will at some point share!
Ariane's MSQ Break To-Do List!
Level all crafters and gatherers to 80.
Level Machinist to 80 and clear out lower-level ranged DPS gear.
Level Black Mage and Red Mage to 80 and clear out lower-level magical DPS gear.
Finish Magical DPS role quest line.
Stop being afraid of tanking.
Level Gunbreaker to 80.
Do Tank role quest line.
Level all other low-level jobs to 50.
Ehcatl Nine tribal quests.
Postmoogle Quests
Out of game stuff:
Catch up on sorting/posting screenshots.
Start organizing what I wrote in November!
