Blessing others from the presence of God

Our lives ought to be lives of fellowship with God and with each other (koinonia) so we must become more aware of God and His people.

We all pray for family, friends, workmates, neighbours etc. but do we bless them from God’s presence?

Ffald-y-Brenin is a Christian Retreat Centre and House of Prayer in the hills by the sea in North Pembrokeshire, Southwest Wales, UK. This retreat centre has been experiencing a power and unusual presence of God for several years now.

One of the teachings coming out this centre is that as well as praying for our family, friends, neighbours, workmates etc. we should bless them in the name of Lord.

This seems to work best when we know the presence of the Lord strongly.

In Numbers 6:22–27, we find the great Aaronic blessing.

This is the blessing Moses instructed his brother, Aaron, to place on the people of Israel;

22 And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying, 23 Speak unto Aaron and unto his sons, saying, On this wise ye shall bless the children of Israel, saying unto them, 24 The Lord bless thee, and keep thee: 25 the Lord make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: 26 the Lord lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace. 27 And they shall put my name upon the children of Israel; and I will bless them.

I pray this over my loved ones every day, perhaps you would consider praying this too for your own loved ones?

A prayer might be (for someone who has no money)

Dear Lord, we ask in Jesus’ name for our friends 'John and Helen' that you provide all the material things they need today such as finance, a roof over their heads, food on the table etc. Amen

However we also have the power to bless (especially from the presence of God) which might sound like this,

Lord I bless 'John and Helen' in the name of Jesus Christ with every material blessing they need, I speak plenty over their lives, that they might have more than enough and be able to give to others as well.

Let's finish our devotions today by praying/pronouncing a blessing over someone you know.

#DailyDevotion You Never Have To Be Alone Again Psalm 139 O LORD, You have searched me and You know me: 2You know when I sit down and when I get up; You understand from far away what I think. 3You watch me when I travel and when I lie down and know intimately all my ways. 4Before there's a word on my tongue, O LORD, You know all about it. 5You besiege me from behind and in front and lay Your hand on me. 6Your knowledge is too wonderful for me, too high for me to reach. 7Where can I go from Your Spirit? Where can I flee from Your face? 8If I go up to heaven, You are there, or make the grave my bed, You are there. Well depending on your relationship with God this can either be very comforting or terrifying. The LORD, the Creator of heaven and earth is omniscient (knows everything) and omnipresent (is present everywhere). Since our relationship with Him in Christ Jesus is that of a child to a Father, this ought to be good news. For the person who feels alone and lonely in the world this also is good news. There is someone who knows you better than you know yourself. That is your Father in heaven. But He is not stuck up on some throne in heaven, He dwells in your heart as well. He knows intimately everything about you. He still loves you. David exclaims His knowledge is too wonderful for me and too high to reach. Whether we look into the James Webb telescope or the most high powered microscopes, there's always something more. We can plumb the depths of the human mind and think we reached the end of all technology but the LORD always has something new for us to learn. Having said this, he returns to the LORD's omnipresence. He is always with us. This shows up in Jesus' title in the beginning of Matthew, Immanuel (God with us) and the end of his gospel, "I am with you always, even to the end of the age." 9If I take the wings of the dawn and stay at the most distant part of the sea, 10even there Your hand would lead me, and Your right hand would hold on to me. 11If I say, “Surely, darkness overwhelms me and the light that was around me is now night," 12even the dark isn't too dark for You, but the night shines like the day, and darkness is like light. It is good to know that wherever we go, the LORD's hand is leading us and His right hand is holding onto us. We could go to Mars or some planet that is inhabitable (if there is one) in some distant galaxy, the LORD would still be leading us and holding on to us because we are His children in Christ Jesus. If we are at our lowest part of our life where it seems like darkness surrounds us and blocks out any light of the day, that darkness is not darkness to the LORD. For our Father and the LORD Jesus Christ, that night and darkness is like the day, because He is light and life. His light and life can pierce through the darkness if we let it and not block it with our own self pity. But it does take the miracle of this promise to break through our self absorbed natures to believe this and to let God into our misery. The author of Hebrews gives us an unrecorded in the Gospels promise of Jesus in chapter 13, "I will never leave you or forsake you." This is much like His promise at the end of Matthew. You can bank on it, trust it and believe it in the worst and best of times and all times in between. Heavenly Father, we thank You for knowing us and being with us always, even when we don't feel Your presence, Your word confirms it for us.
