12: A song from your preteen years? :)

This song was released around about the time I was in my first year of secondary school, and it was a pretty big hit- one of those ones that stays on the Top 40 Radio Station playlists for weeks on the trot, and really, I didn’t mind it. And at that time, I was so picky about what music I liked (on top of being one those insufferable “ONLY IDIOTS LISTEN TO POP MUSIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!” morons) that I can honestly say, hand on heart, if it wasn’t video game music, I probably didn’t give a shit about it, but for some reason, this one song by an artist I absolutely can’t stand (and still don’t), in a style of music I wasn’t even remotely a fan of (and still aren’t), I kind of enjoyed. Sure, the chipmunk’d Jazz sample is absolutely ridiculous sounding for a song that is ostensibly supposed to be taken seriously, but there’s a kind of goofy charm to it- and the minimal production around it- that just bypasses any cynical part of my brain and just makes me smile, if only because it is, in retrospect, a really daft gimmick.
