Um... hello there! You mentioned that you wanted to get going on crafts. I was wondering how soon you plan on doing that, I have a very young "rockruff" that could use a sweater or similar accessory. The one made for her already is starting to get big, and I don't have the skill to recreate it myself.
Anyway, if that's not happening anytime soon, that's fine. I was just wondering if you have a time frame for such commissions.
@preschool-teacher-silas
oh for sure! i have a delibird cloth im working on now, once its finished i can head over to figure out what your rockruff needs :}

A question that's been on my mind as of late comes to the care of an elderly (at least 20 years old to be more specific) shuckle that is the class "pet" in my room. I haven't really notice anything out of the ordinary, but I am concerned about what health problems I might need to look out for when it comes to the little guy. Is there anything I should be aware of when it comes to their care?
@preschool-teacher-silas
Great question! Shuckle are an easier breed to care for- they only eat berries but they are not picky about the berries they eat at all- those things are durable in almost every way you can think of. A great pick for a class pet; they play with children really well. In terms of health, I’d just say the one thing that you’ll need to look out for is over-storage of it’s food. Shuckle store berries in its shell and secretes juice, which is a completely healthy practice, but as Shuckle age, they become- well, they get forgetful. They store berries in their shell and forget they put them there and the buildup will block the holes on its shell- which can lead to health risks if its left to sit for too long. It’s not common for buildup to be too bad, but I’d say just check the little bugger’s shell every once in a while to make sure it’s nice and clean and that there’s no berries clogging the holes in its shell.

I... I don't remember writing this Silas. Why would I write... this? I mean for fictional characters sure, but I don't think most people find it flattering when you write them into your story just to get... I'm assuming...
Anyway, I'm sorry one of your kids found this. I hope they didn't read it. Or at least that it wasn't one of your younger kids that did. This is pretty dark, even for me!
Larry Trotsky Lends a Hand
You find a manuscript page. Do you read it?
The tow truck pulled off to the side of the road, careful to stay firmly on the thin shoulder so as not to roll into the drainage ditch beside it. The rain, much heavier than usual these last few days, had flooded it, the mud mixing it into an inky brown soup. Larry Trotsky was unsurprised to find the caller’s car had wound up victim to that exact same sludge, nor that the license plate read “Orre” Damn out of towners didn’t know how to drive. Thought the road was theirs to own. Well, a paycheck was a paycheck. He jumped out of the truck, rain soaking through his pant legs. Mary, his machoke assistant did the same, narrowly avoiding falling into the ditch herself. They looked around in some confusion. Where was the driver? Had they wandered off? In this rain? Orre didn’t get much rain but, hell, anyone would have to be crazy to go wandering around in this. Larry huffed and shook his head before walking closer to the car, unaware of the inky black tendril stretching out towards his leg.

Weren't you that nice batista that was working out at Oh Deerling Diner? Are you okay? I didn't realize you were fired, much less the gengar eeby that people have been talking about. Do you need any references or something? I feel like you should be getting more help.
@preschool-teacher-silas
I'm guessing you meant "barista"? And yeah, that's me! I'm gettin' by all right.
Wait a sec... you're that teacher in town! Uh, bro, I swear to Arceus I have never tried to battle any of your preschool kids! Please don't come after me, I'm not even good at battles! I swear to Arc I won't so much as swear around those lil' kids!

Considering your expertise, I was wondering if you could offer some advice. A child I wok with has just "caught" a magikarp, and while the two seem to be bonding very well, their parents are really concerned about what might happen should it eventually evolve.
I know gyarados's have a reputation for being rather angry and violent pokemon, but I also know that doesn't have to be the case. Is there any advice I could pass along to the parents or any resources available that might be helpful?
when you say "caught," do you mean that the magikarp is still wild?
honestly, most magikarp never evolve in the wild. you're mostly likely to see a gyarados in a large lake or out in the ocean, but most smaller bodies of water can't support a gyarados. unless this magikarp lives in a large body of water, it's probably not going to evolve- and even then, only a handful of magikarp in those environment end up evolving. chances are there's nothing to worry about.
of course, if they want to make sure that the magikarp doesnt evolve, they can help their kiddo build up a proper magikarp pond and line the bottom with large everstones (big enough it can't swallow them). it's time consuming and a bit expensive, but that will guarantee that the magikarp can't evolve on them!

Hello and good morning (from my part of the world, at least). I was wondering if I could ask about the care of an older shuckle. I've had the little dear for about 15 years as part of my classroom, but I know he's much older than that. Would there be any way to tell how old they are, and as an elder Shuckle is there any special care I should be aware of?
Shuckle are a strange one, as they really do not have much of a way to ascertain their age. You can, sometimes, get a minimum by analyzing the berry juice remains stuck to the insides of their shell, but that only tells you a minimum, not an actual number for their age.
Generally, however, no. There is nothing in particular. Shuckle are... remarkably easygoing. As long as nothing changes in its environment or its state, nothing should change in its care.
Some scientists believe that Shuckle are biologically immortal, or close to it. The fact is, Shuckle are very hard to study the ages of, because they live longer than humans. They do not appear to have any trouble with organs breaking down due to age.
At the very least, I do not believe there has ever been a recorded Shuckle dying of old age, or even of having age impair it. It is always external factors (food, nutrition, illness, predators) that harm them in the end.
But the fact is, the formal study of Pokemon has been going on for less than one hundred and fifty years, and a Shuckle could easily live longer than that. So there is simply very little we could know about an elder one.

New Management? I apologize but this is new news to me as I was sick for a few weeks. Is everything alright over there?
@preschool-teacher-silas
Good morning, Silas!
In the past few weeks, our corporate company found out about our tumblr and disagreed with how we were advertising ourselves, so they started helping us. We even have a new manager who works directly under me. Lots of changes you've missed out on recently!

Good girl Peaches indeed!
Also you have got to send me a picture of Buttercup's apron. That sounds so adorable!!
The first day of our summer program is over, thank heavens.
As always, there are a lot of questions to re-answer from parents about food, activities, is it REALLY safe for that bewear to be around my child?
Yes, Mr. Bowen, that's why I purposefully had her leading the tea party with an ACTUAL tea set. Did you know Buttercup has taken up knitting? She made that apron herself even!
Anyway, Peaches got to say hello to all the returning kids this year and got so many pets and treats. She was also a great ambassador to any family pokemon that came along for pick up and drop off today. Separation anxiety is very real with a lot of older pokemon with young kids. It helps to have another pokemon there to explain what to expect in my experience. Case in point, we had a bit of a tense standoff this morning with a graveler. He just didn't want to see his little guy go. He held onto the boy's hand and stretched himself into the center as far as he could till Peaches took their hand gently in her mouth and sat by the moping rock pokemon till they felt better.
Good girl, Peaches. You deserve all the pets today.

What is something that you haven't done that you enjoy lately? You've been working yourself to exhaustion by the sounds of it, so you deserve to do something you enjoy that you haven't had the time to.
@preschool-teacher-silas
this is a bit weirdly worded but i think youre asking what is smth i havent done in a while that i enjoy?
i havent gotten to play my guitar in a bit, i dont want to have to run over to the music room to play it without disturbing anyone in the dorms so ive just been putting it off. ill get around to playing it eventually soon hopefully.

Well hello! It's not often I get to see people from the midwestern part of the continent on her. It's been ages since I did some traveling in the Ziibi region myself. Arceus above... there was one hot dog place on the corner of State and Polk, is that place still there by any chance? Best hot dog I've ever had when I was a "young" man.
@preschool-teacher-silas
Yeah, it's still there! It's been a while since I've been down that way myself but it's so good after a day at the museums or the aquarium.

I'll admit I don't know much about Team Plasma beyond what's in the news, but I did here that a good number of kids got into some trouble because of them. I'm glad you look like you're doing much better, it can be hard for kids to grow past the broken homes they leave behind. You should be proud of yourself, and I hope you enjoy this new adventure as a teacher.
@preschool-teacher-silas
.. Thank you. I'm glad as well. It has been strange adapting to viewing the world outside of what I was taught, but exciting, in a way. The Truth. I hope it serves as a strong foundation for the ideal world I dream of.
So far I am enjoying teaching. I haven't run into much trouble, and that I do face I can ask Cheren about. Though, his students are typically younger.

Well hello there, I don't think I've met a sapient Eeveelution as of yet. I get the desire of privacy, but hopefully you feel most welcomed. I imagine being a service provider makes your days pretty long and tiring, but hopefully you and your human are doing well. I must ask, do you have a special keyboard to make use of? I have a Slowking associate who sometimes has issues with keyboards and I'm wondering if there is anyone I could go to get something more suited to his needs.
I don’t know if I should be insulted I come across as a fucking eevee or concerned your username has teacher in it. Y poor students. “Arc above, how did a teddiursa get into the— oh no that’s Danielle.”
Sapient pokemon? Like fully aware o their actions? And others’ thoughts on them? I need to go back t juvie, this’ll be the easiest money ever! Oh, was the person who signed off as Tropius one of them?
Ugh, Jane’s glaring daggers at me so I should prolly be helpful. What’s the slowking’s issue? Is he hitting multiple keys by accident or doesn’t know the letters or what? Maybe something with big keys and raised ones, might reduce accidental input if that’s the thing. There’re keyboards where the keys are further apart and in a guard type thing so y can’t mistype.
//I’m putting the ooc in the post, I’ve seen you’re new and your learning stuff based on your intro. Hi, similar boat here. You’re character seems a genuine if I’ve misread that my bad, I am sorry I made it seem Conleth is an eevee, probably should’ve phrased is as ‘Pokemon owned’ or have a reference or something. If you’re not fine with Silas making the mistake and Conleth being himself toward him, say the word and I’ll delete. Oh also you might want to pin your pinned intro, the meatball menu attached to the post, “Pin” should be the first option.
