Brian’s Favorite Things- Pre-Fall 2019 Must-Haves: Part II

On to more of my favorite pieces from the pre-fall ‘19 collections! From feather dresses, to the perfect suit, and accessories to go with it all, pre-fall has so much to love!

1 Givenchy feather dress; wear it as a dress, or over pants, which is a huge trend for the season

2 Altuzarra croc-embossed Espadrille bag

3 Hermès pants; I love the button detail on these, and the Pierre Hardy-designed boots don’t hurt either

4 Bottega Veneta bag and shoes; Daniel Lee’s debut collection for BV is chalk full of amazing accessories

5 Mugler suit; this tailoring is so insanely good

6 Givenchy earring; put your basic hoops away

7 Bottega Veneta quilted leather coat

8 Calvin Klein 205W39NYC tweed front jeans; I want the men’s version that has corduroy instead of the tweed

Pierpaolo has really been redefining The Valentino girl into a darkly poetic and romantic girl. His latest collection for a season that tends to be a small transitional collection took inspiration from Japan and blossomed into one of his best collections yet. Deeply rooted in Japanese traditions and wabi-sabi - an aesthetic rooted in finding the beauty in the imperfect, impermanent and incomplete - every look in this collection is a knock out! There are references to the great Japanese designers of our time throughout - a jacket plucked fro Rei here and a drape technique from Junya there with pleating techniques from Issey throughout. There were pieces done in collaboration with Izumi Mayazaki, a photographic artist. This collection felt fully modern while harkening back to the past. The final dresses with their cascading asymmetrical almost unfinished ruffles were truly master works. I haven’t felt that much joy in the beauty of what fashion can be in such a long time!
