Yeah. Hockey fans, like many sports, have some unique and special fans. In 1995 the Panthers were 3 years in the league. A rat running around the dressing room before a game cause some commotion. One of the player took their stick and smashed the rat against a wall. The that same stick was used in the game and got 2 goals. The goalie at that time, can vandiesbrouk called it a rat trick in post game interviews. Hat trick = 3 goals in one game. Rat trick = 1 rat + 2 goals. Gordie Howe hat trick = 1 goal, 1 assist, 1 fight. 🤷‍♀️ hockey.

The panthers then went on a tear that season. Got into the playoffs. Lord Stanley. Fans being fans, the next game a fan chucked a plastic rat on the ice. Then the chucking grew from a one to a few to a mass of plastic rats. Eventually after every goal plastic rats were tossed over the glass onto the ice by fans.
