I sometimes wonder if where Richard lives is somewhere close to where the guys used to hang out in the early days. Prenzlauer Berg isn't that big, so I'm curious if there's any significance to the building because before he bought it, it wasn't much of anything (like most of PB).
It kinda sucks that early Rammstein days are not that well documented, at least not as extensively as Feeling B. I'm sure Paul has loads of photos, but no one filmed them that much.
Hi 👋
As a matter of fact, Richard apparently really does live close to precisely two locations which were rather significant in the early days of Rammstein.
In this interview, it is mentioned that his house is located near the spot where the Knaack Club existed. Here, Rammstein played their first concerts in the beginning of their career as well as when they were already very popular - this location doesn't seem to be that important to Richard, but the second one which is mentioned: near the Knaack Club, the former rehearsal room of Rammstein was located, which holds fond memories for him.
[Rammstein at the Knaack Club in 2004. They played three concerts to present their new album "Reise Reise" to their fans]
It's interesting to note that despite having lived at Prenzlauer Berg very early on (he moved there for I think two years when he was 19, but felt very lonely in this part of the city and spend most of his time playing guitar, mentioned here) and many memories were made there, Richard really isn't a big fan of the city. He mentioned numerous times that Berlin striked him as cold and elitist and doesn't overly feel like home, at least when he moved back there after his time in New York. Slowly he warmed up to the city, he doesn't really know where else he should live in Germany (mentioned here) and as a father, Richard is amazed how many playgrounds there are in Prenzlauer Berg 😊
Prenzlauer Berg in general is apparently in the process of heavy gentrification (a reason why the Knaack Club had to close its doors), which Richard heavily critizes, and he thinks that Prenzlauer Berg got rather boring now that a lot of artists can't afford the rent anymore. If he hadn't any personal relations to this district, he would've most likely live in Kreuzberg.
I don't know if the building held any significance before Richard bought it - he once mentioned that he actually didn't like the building in the beginning and only bought it because of the rooftop 😅
Regarding the documentation about the early Rammstein days: it really is noticeable that Feeling B has an extensive "archive" with videos and picture materials as well as a whole book ("Mix mir einen Drink") dedicated to their history. The book holds some information about the formation of Rammstein, but not a lot. There are two documentaries about punk music in the GDR in general, which also has some Rammstein/pre-Rammstein information (I can sadly only link the trailers since you have to buy them to watch them):
"flüstern & SCHREIEN - Ein Rockreport"
youtube
"ACHTUNG! WIR KOMMEN. UND WIR KRIEGEN EUCH ALLE."
youtube
A fotobook with Paul's pre-Rammstein pictures would be very informative, as well as some more picture material of the numerous other bands the band members originated from (Orgasm Death Gimmick, Die Firma, Das elegante Chaos, The Inchtabokatables and more). Well, we can dream 😊

Ostberlin XIII - Prenzlauer Berg (b/w)
youtube
For those who, like me, enjoy Pre Rammstein history and atmosphere, this clip has stills of Prenzlauer Berg (East Berlin) before the wall came down, this is the part of Berlin where Feeling B happened and lived (and many of their friends).

MMU Modern Headcanon: Music Tastes
Ok so
DAISY WELLS
Daisy is as casual as a music fan as they come. Her music taste is basic and she listens to whatever songs are popular right now. The only artist she is a dedicated fan of is Marina and the Diamonds, who she is OBSESSED with. Her favourite song is "Are you satisfied?" mainly because she finds it very relatable. Other artists she likes are ABBA, Beyoncé, Nelly Furtado, Chappel Roan and Taylor Swift.
HAZEL WONG
Hazel on the other hand, is a very dedicated music fan. As an introvert, she spends a lot of her alone time discovering new music, esp when she is writing up cases or decoding cryptic messages. Most of the music she listens to comes from the 80s and 90s: The Smiths, The Cure, The Smashing Pumpkins, Foo Fighters, The Cranberries, Cocteau Twins, Lush, Asha Puthli, Bjork, Sinead O'Conner ect. She also listens to more modern artists like Hozier, Mitski, Lana Del Ray, Ethel Cain and Phoebe Bridgers. Her music taste can be described as whimsical and her favorite genres include jangle pop, art pop and alt rock.
KITTY FREEBODY Kitty Freebody is a huge Swifty. She has multiple cardigans, vinyls, CDs and T-shirts and has been to the eras tour. She loves collecting bracelets with other fans. Her favorite era is red. She also likes Charli XCX, Blackpink, aeysha erotica, Oasis, Britney Spears, Sza and Doja Cat.
ALEXANDER ARCADY
Alexander is fascinated by the 60s and 70s, thus most of his music taste comes from those decades. He enjoys the technical side of music, and is very well red on the history of rock. His favourite artists are The Beatles, Oueen, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Aerosmith, The Doors, The Who and The Ramones. According to him, "The Wall" is Pink Floyds favourite album, and he will talk your ear off about that albums lore. He also enjoys some more contempary artists, most notably Gorillaz, Nirvana, Tears for Fears, System of a Down and Queens of The Stone Age. He also occasionally listens to some hyperfeminine early 2010s bubblegum pop, like pre-witteness Katy Perry, Nikki Minaj, Kesha and Carly Rae Jempson.
GEORGE MUKHERJEE
On face value, George doesn't seem like a metal fan, but to those who know him it is very obvious. His all time favorite band is Rammstein, his favourite album being Herzeleid and because of them, he is now learning German. Other artists he enjoys are Iron Maiden, Moterhead, System of a Down, Propagaandi, Dead Kennedys and Misfits. He also listens to Hip Hop, like Kendrick Lamarr, Eminem and The Notorious B.I.G.
BEANIE MARTINEAU
Like Daisy, she isn't too particular about music. Beanie is a casual fan of K-Pop, her favourite groups being Red Velvet, BTS, Twice, 2NE1 and Blackpink. Outside of that, she enjoys Franz Ferdinand, The Killers, Arctic Monkeys and Sir Chloe.
LAVINIA TEMPLE
Lavinia, like George, is a die hard metal fan. She adores bands such as Slipknot, Cannibal Corpse, System of a Down, Black Flag, Kittie, Jack off Jill, Linkin Park, Korn and Dead Kennedys. She also listens to industrial bands, like Nine Inch Nails, Kraftwerk and Ministry.
AMINIA EL MAGHRABI
Though Aminia listens to a lot of music, she doesn't have a particular favorite artist. She has a very diverse taste who share one characteristic of being "cool girl" music. She enjoys AESPA, Lady Gaga, Chappel Roan, Charli XCX, Doja Cat, Megan Thee Stallion, Donna Summer and Rhianna. She also likes some non female artists, such as Queen, Maneskin and Eminem.

31 Days Rammstein Challenge - Day 30: Favourite Ship
When someone asks me about what my favourite Rammstein ship is, my standard answer is friendship. For me, that's one of the things that make Rammstein so special. They have stuck together for not just the duration of the band, but from long before that.
The majority of the band members have played in Rammstein for more than half of their lives. Some of them have played together in bands for close to 40 years. And still, they seem to have enjoy each other's company and have fun together on stage.
To illustrate this, I have picked the five photos Richard Z. Kruspe posted on his Instagram last June, with the following captions (inspired by Placebo's song Pure Morning):
Oliver: A friend in need Schneider: A friend indeed Paul: A friend so sweet Flake: A friend down the street Till: A friend who bleeds
As Flake Lorenz told Strassenfeger: «I see us as friends who have known each other for a very long time. Who have experienced a lot together. And who will definitely get along very well for quite a while.»

Jay interview with Music Festivals Aus
California Nu-Metal pioneers Orgy are rearing and ready to embark on the first ever tour Down Under! Following on from sell out dates across the US, Orgy and fellow patriots Cold are gearing themselves for three massive back to back shows this October. The Orgy + Cold Australian Tour kicks off at Melbourne’s Max Watts on October 25th, The Metro Theatre, Sydney October 26th and rounding off at The Triffid, Brisbane October 27th. Now celebrating 25 years since the release of debut album Candyass, we caught up with Jay Gordon from Orgy to discuss the renowned Family Values Tour , the cause and affect of Napster and the evolution of Orgy since conception.
Interview behind the cut
Thanks for meeting with me today, Jay. I first found Orgy on the Family Values tour back in 1998 in possibly one of the most standout performances, and one that's remained with me for all of these years. Can you tell me about that tour and what it meant to you then and now?
Oh, yeah. I mean, it was our first tour ever. So it was what a way to break into the music industry. I mean, play with all of those great bands and all that kind of stuff. So it was fantastic. You know, definitely a learning experience. I learned how to navigate through the Big Boys you know, so it was cool. Messed up a lot. Had a lot of fun with Rammstein. It was chaotic. You know, we had we had a great time. But yeah, they cost me a lot of money. But it was cool. Yeah.
Yeah, it was definitely a rite of passage back in in the in the 90s. In Australia in those years, we had to physically import albums from overseas. Candyass was definitely one of my first and favourite imports. So, it’s 1997 and Korn’s Jonathan Davis signed Orgy as one of the first artists on their debut label Elementree Records, what impact did this have as an up-and-coming artists in the pre digital era?
Huge, you know. Korn was like a massive band at this point. And, they're good friends of mine, thank God and I owe them everything. They, you know, paved the way and opened up the doors for me along the way. So that was cool.
There is something candescent about your sound, in some forums labelled as electronic rock or alt metal, but more famously, as a pioneer of the nu metal movement? What were some of your biggest influences at the time?
I mean, I think always, you know, people like David Bowie and I just love the way his brain worked. I really can identify and relate to a lot of his music and stuff like that. But also, like, really heavy stuff, too. Like, where I came from, you know, the San Francisco thrash metal scene and things like that. So, adding like futuristic, melancholy weirdness with heavy stuff from the era at the time. Metallica and Testament and all those guys coming from where I'm from. So that all helped and kind of paved the way for me. And obviously Korn I suppose at the time. They were my favourite band. And so that's how I got to know those guys. And Jonathan would come stay at our house and stuff when they would play in town and it kind of started off a pretty, pretty basic friendship from then. And so they were a huge influence on me like I loved every song.
What impact did these artists have on you, personally and professionally?
Just Korn has such an original sound and they had a really big impact on me, all the way through my career. I’m always excited to hear what they come up with and what their next sound is going to be and what their next song is going to be. We get to play with each other every now and then like, in Sick New World. That was really cool. And just a huge impact.
Candyass was a pivotal album of the 1990’s, not only for myself but a deluge of young adults transitioning life. As a parent, it’s hard to pick between, but what is your favourite album release and why is it Candyass?
I don't know that it’s the best album that we've ever released. But I mean, it's probably my favourite. I don't know I was just in a different headspace. Candyass came from, let me see. So myself and Josh Abraham, were watching Depeche Mode show downtown and these three drag queens walked up to me and one of them’s name was Candyass. And, you know, he asked me, my name, I was like, “Jay” and he's like, “why don't I know you?” And whatever. And he goes, “you know me, my name is Candyass” and I thought it was so funny. So I said, I'm gonna name my first album Candyass and that was it. Then, you know, we became friends and everything, and they will come over to the studio and like, you know, mess up the board when I'm working. Like, I'd go to the bathroom and I come back and like, why does it sound like ass, you know, they were just like, him and Alexis Arquette, you know, RIP but I love Alexis Arquette and they would come over to the studio where we recording you know, it was just funny. Yeah, so that's why I named the record Candyass after him.
As most 80’s kids, I’m a sucker for a synth and electronic drum kit. The amalgamation of this soundscape with industrialism is none more evident than your cover of New Order’s Blue Monday. Before Stitches, this is one of my favourite releases. What was the inspiration behind your sound and its’ evolution?
You know, I wanted to do a cover song. And we were messing with a couple of different ones I liked it's called ‘Something Going On’ and Frida Lyngstad was her name. Her and Phil Collins, I guess got together and they did this song called I know ‘There's Something Going On.’ And that was gonna be the first one that we did. And then so we're playing around with that one and the Blue Monday one and we just went with Blue Monday. Yeah, just kind of, it's kind of clicked and worked out.
Vapor Transmission and Punk Statik Paranoia celebrated the unique sound encapsulated by Candyass, both in their own right. What was the progression in sound as traversed through the years and these albums?
Well you know, Vapor Transmission, I think definitely a progression, sonically, and things like that. I think we're headed for something really different on that record, but at the same time, that's when Napster dropped, you know.
“Napster kind of came out and kind of really killed the record industry, so to speak”
So, the record sales weren't there anymore, and things like that. But that's not an indicator that it wasn't doing what it was supposed to be doing. It's just that music was free after that, like, so it kind of just, it was a vibe killer on that, on that level, because our record had just come out, it was literally like, two weeks out. And then you see this big change in the sales of records because everybody caught on to Napster so fast. So that's kind of what happened there. And then Punk Statik Paranoia, that record just came out, like way too late. That was more like to me, like a bunch of glorified demos, you know, like, it never really got mixed, right. We never had a chance to really finish it up, because we were going through a lot of label stuff and trying to figure out what we were doing, if we were still going to be on a label or not, I think we were trying to get off Warner Brothers at the time. And that took some time. So the record just came out so late, and we ended up just putting it out in the end. Yeah, it took a long time for that to be able to happen. So we were sitting on it for like a year waiting for the lawyers and to get everything solid, so we can actually put the record out.
Carlton Bost first joined Orgy circa 2011 after an equally successful career as guitarist in parallel bands such as Deadsy, The Dreaming and the bass player in Stabbing Westward. What kind of dynamic did Carlton bring to the Orgy party?
I mean, Carlton's, he's great, like he's, he's a great band member. He and I actually, you know, when it comes to the more now orgy, you know, we kind of do a lot more stuff together. Whereas before in the past, you know, the first few records I just did by myself, you know, a lot by myself, you know, everybody did their part. You know, they played on the records and did whatever but, but as far as writing and stuff like that, I just did a lot of that on my own. And then I'd say, Paige wrote quite a bit of stuff on those records. And, you know, like a riff here a riff there and he was always really good at coming up with stuff on the spot. So, Oh, first, you know, he's like the new Paige in this era, but we actually just write a lot of stuff. Like sometimes he'll write like entire songs like Spells and Wide Awake and Dead. He had a big part of those songs. So it's more like a team on this one.
In October, Orgy embarks on the first ever tour down under alongside fellow patriots Cold in a three city rampage including Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane. What kind of energy are you anticipating from an Australian crowd?
I have no expectations. Because I've never been there. I don't really know a whole lot about it other than like, you know, the typical kangaroos and this and that. I mean, I want to see all of that stuff when I come there. But I have no idea what to expect from the crowds I think I think it'll be a good show. I think the crowd will love it. And we're gonna bring the energy that's for sure. And, you know, we just killed it out here. We sold out every show but one with Cold here, it was a great tour. And I anticipate it being similar to that and hope the turnouts there and the turnout there is going to get a great show, you know, and we just signed Orgy, Carlton, and I we signed a Tucson deal with Golden Robot, which is an Australian label. So we're gonna try to get those songs done and be playing those live when we get there.
A huge congratulations on the 25th anniversary of the debut album Candyass. You've just answered my question. can fans expect any new Orgy releases within the near future? So yeah, as a fan, I'm very, very excited about that one.
Me too. You know, I have no idea what the release dates gonna be on those two songs. But yeah, we get them done and get them out before we show up and play so we can play them.
I do follow you on social media, so I will be definitely keeping an eye out myself for that. Following the tour, what's next for you, for you, both individually and professionally?
I'm kind of getting into, I'm going to be getting into like film stuff like Sony and direct some stuff. So that's kind of my next chapter in life. But yeah, other than that I'm also producing music. So I'm gonna keep doing that and work with other artists and things like that.

🎶✨when you get this, list 5 songs you like to listen to, publish. then, send this ask to 5 of your favorite followers🎶
I literally can't stress how funny it is that THE solradguy sent this to me and I was literally listening to Queen when I saw this ask. Sol Badguy realness 💯🔥
March of the Black Queen - Queen (<- what I was listening to lol)
Take the Power Back - Rage Against The Machine
Sehnsucht - Rammstein
Worlds of Doubt - Vincent de Moor
Миллион алых роз - Alla Pugacheva
My music taste is almost entirely composed of pre-2000s music, not very obscure either, but if whoever reading this hasn't listened to Миллион алых роз before I strongly encourage you to! There's an entire trove of excellent soviet era music (not just Russian mind you! there's all kinds of incredible Eastern European music) out there that most English speakers never hear of.
#asks#thanks so much for the ask sol!#very predictable trivia about me:#I got into Rammstein after learning that Raven's “Sehnsucht” IK was named in reference to the Rammstein song

31 days Rammstein challenge
Day twenty-seven favaorite pre-rammstein photo
I love Feeling B, I am such a huge fan! So I will definitely go with photo of this band. But it is not fair to make me to choose, there are so many amazing photos from that era.
But ok, I choose this one. It is so precious. There are like Behold! The amazing device called keyboard! 😆 These two punk babies are so loveable.
Another favorite one. Look at them, watching Aljoscha eating. It almost looks like they have been waiting if he will survive so they can eat it too 😆
And the last one. Paul is just trying to mentally connect to Flake. And he is very serious about that. With his funny hat.

EL DÍA QUE JAMÁS OLVIDARE
RAMMSTEIN

Where did the whole Richard/doughnuts trope come from?
Hi!
From what I've read, Till apparently really is enjoying sweets - especially gummy bears and doughnuts. It seems that when Richard and him lived together and spend a lot of time together in the pre-Rammstein era, Till asked Richard to bake him some doughnuts (since Richard is a trained chef), for which he sometimes apparently stole the ingredients, or they sometimes would just straight up steal the doughnuts in general (money was pretty scarce for them back then).
While I can't remember an interview as a source, eventhough I remember I've read it somewhere in a remark by Richard, here it is mentioned in a tumblr post, containing some interesting facts about Till.

ooh! lemme share a few:
- till being the definition of duality for me. an angsty, moody poet can become a goofy little baby in like 10 seconds
- that time paul and flake broke into till's house pre rammstein era and ate all his food and blasted music and till did absolutely nothing about it 😭
- paul and richard and their interactions onstage, and how they went from arguing with each other pretty much all the time to kissing on stage
- flake just being a goofy little mf and honestly we love him for that
- the boys just being pretty cool people (+ the idea that they support each other in their side endeavours)
- the fact that they're not afraid to show affection to each other (see: the munich hug last year, till snuggling into flake's shoulder at völkerball, paulchard etc)
- the music videos that focus on them as a family. halfisch, adieu, ohne dich, and how they won't leave anyone behind. they really are one big married couple
- the fact that they take care of each other. i've heard anecdotes about richard fussing over paul at a festival, paul and richard gathering around till during a live performance of adieu because he looked overwhelmed, plus the fact that all the pyro started because they helped till with his stage fright
- tillake and their old married couple dynamic. and to quote flake: "i've known till for a good while now, and he watches out that nothing happens to me."
that's all i can think of for now. i can't wait to see everyone else's responses. i genuinely really needed this today, thank you so much <3
it's been a great couple of months despite any drama that resurfaces and i love my boys and the community here. <33
💓 reblog this with your favourite thing about rammstein so we can all have a super cute & wholesome post to read later on 💕

Not surprised at all that they're taking a break. They more than deserve it and this stadium era has been insanely successful.
Historically, they never pre-plan new album. They go into rehearsals/studio whenever the feeling strikes so who knows when that's gonna happen. Could be in a year or 5 or 10!
Ramm4 is a nice "surprise". Wonder how it will sound since it's more of a live song.
And absolutely amazing news in the documentary! I'm glad they didn't abandon it. I'm sure it's definitely coming out this year, but again, historically, they announce things like "premiere in 2 days". Just dropping bombshells 😂
I rhink they were already talking about the album that eventually became Untitled [released 2019) as least as far back as 2017...things in the Rammstein democracy take their time...
(but 10 years....? when they are nearing their 70's? we'll just have to light a few🕯it might be a bit sooner... 😊)
That documentary i'm really looking forward too, but i'm sure we'll have to be patient for that too....
very patiently...
waiting...
(pom-pi-dom-pi-dom)
is it there yet?

31 Days Rammstein Challenge - Day 26: Favourite Pre-Rammstein Photo
Picking a favourite pre-Rammstein photo is very hard. I am generally fond of photos. Many of the old ones are of bad quality, but for me, that's part of history. That's probably one of the reasons why I dislike AI editing so much. Sharpness of a photo, where an AI has guessed what a person is supposed to look like, does not equal quality. It sends me straight into the uncanny valley.
That said, there are many great photos from the pre-Rammstein eras as well. Unfortunately, very few of them are of Oliver Riedel. I guess it comes as no surprise that I picked a photo of him for this challenge: The Inchtabokatables by Richter.
This photo is spectacular as it's one of very few photos of Oliver with more than a tiny bit of hair on his head and no facial hair. As it was taken before the release of White Sheep, the first album Oliver participated on, he is most likely 21 years old in the photo. I love the few glimpses that exist of him pre-Rammstein.
I'd like to add a few honourable mentions: 1) The one Richard Z. Kruspe graciously shared with us on Instagram just after Till Lindemann turned 60. Unknown photographer. 2) Magdalene Keibel Combo on stage in Steinbrücken, from the book Freiheit Blues und Scherben (my scan). 3) And to get one of Schneider, too, a poodle haired drummer from the In Amerika documentary.

Tropes in Rammstein fics that I will never tire of:
Schneider’s military contacts
Richard has spiky hair no mater what era the story is supposed to take place in
All the boys are in love with Frau
Richard is the subbiest sub to ever sub even with Till
Zoran and Jorn are often antagonists AUs, but Jonas is always a friend
Richard dramatically fucking off to New York after an argument
Conveniently having each person from the main pairing in hotel rooms right next to each other
The boys have to live together when recording or touring. Therefore, they are always recording or touring
In Tillchard fics, Nele and Khira knowing that their dads have been in love for years even if Richard and Till themselves didn’t
Pre and Early Rammstein era fics where Aljoscha is just there being wonderful
We will never escape Richard’s Ugly Shirts TM even in fanfiction. GOOD
Paul is simultaneously tired of Richard’s shit and encouraging of it
Till asking Richard to make donuts
Flake and Ollie fucking off and doing their own thing so they don’t have to deal with whatever drama the other four are going through
Richard’s romantic interest being jealous of Joe Letz
Joe Letz
Schneider gets called “Doom” or “Doomie” more than he does in real life
