Pre Season Four press thread with Freya talking about Ciri and Liam.

Freya's been on a press tour for the Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes for the past few months, and she'd sometimes share a morsel of information about S4 of The Witcher, so I thought I'd put all the quotes on it together to tide us over during the hiatus and bring in some more positivity!

Allan reveals that Ciri goes to "quite a dark place within herself… She's trying to pretend to be someone else and is becoming that," she explains. "It's a darker place for her but there's many moments of joy and freedom in many ways that she hasn't had. So it's this double-edged sword." To not succumb the story to the fantastical elements and magical powers Ciri has, Allan strives to still make Ciri relatable and as humane as possible. “I’m always fighting to prioritize and keep the story and character building to try to make it as real as possible. Because otherwise, it would just be soul-sucking.” Allan heavily relies on the books in which The Witcher is based for the upcoming season, more than in years past. "It's been exciting because I've been able to have creative input about things I like in the book, and I'll ask to put those elements from the book in the show," she smiles. She sees her journey with Ciri as one that both mirrors and seeps into her own life in its own strange way. "What I go through as Freya in some ways is what she's going through," she says. "We have kind of become those characters and the line has crossed over a bit. She was never particularly dissimilar to me. She's formed quite a lot of me." (via Flaunt Magazine)

Allan teases that Ciri's storyline in The Witcher's next chapter will take "the biggest shift we've seen. It's so unbelievably different from anything that I've ever played with her," she says. "She has her first experience with romance, if you can even call it that, because it's not a good relationship. She goes into a very dark part of herself that I think is going to be terrifying to look at."  Some fans weren’t thrilled when the transition was first announced, but Allan dismisses the vitriol. Fans “just love to hate on something,” she says. “We’ve made it clear that we’re welcoming [Liam] with open arms.” (via Elle)

There's no relationship this season. Ciri's off on her own path and [Geralt]'s off on his own, and so it's, "Forget about Geralt". That's what Ciri's in the zone of. "Let's try and block that out. That never happened. Now I'm Falka; I'm not Ciri." But as you can see, I sort of haven't left it behind. I'm sort of still in it now. But Liam's lovely; he's a really nice guy. I haven't seen anything he's done because we don't really have scenes together, but he's so sweet. I've heard that he's smashing it, so I can't wait to see what he's doing. (via Screen Rant)

The other day I was fighting a monster [in the Witcher Season Four]. Spoiler. Yeah, no way! Who would've thought! [laughter] And they actually got those VR goggles, so I could see on the set where the monster would be, and how it looked like. It was kinda crazy. They’ve not done that before, but it was great. It meant that I really understood what it is that I’m actually fighting. (via HighVoltageLive)

Yennefer laughs at the retort, a languid, soft sound that heralds the coy smile that soon finds its place upon narrow, perfectly lipsticked lips as she fleetingly deigns to bestow her gaze upon the wolf at her side, a curious, amused expression draped across her fair, sharp features.

I am nothing if not the very epitome of wicked, power-hungry, presumptuous arrogance. ❞ she assures him in a low drawl, eyes flashing.  ❝Mmm...❞ a slow shrug of one delicate shoulder as she pretends to consider the question, the black silks of her skirts flowing as she abruptly unfastens the obsidian brooch pinned to her velvet cloak, pulling it off her shoulders and spreading it over the grass under a willow so that they might sit together for a while.  ❝You've somehow proven yourself to be rather passably tolerable, I surmise... ❞ a jest at his expense, but then, a soft one. Yennefer moves to sit on her cloak with her back pressed against the tree, says, laughter in her voice,  ❝although I do enjoy your face... So stoic and brooding... I like a man with secrets in his eyes.❞ there’s a stirring of a smirk at the corners of her mouth, innuendo lacing with every syllable purposefully as she demandingly pats the space next to her upon the cloak, plainly inviting the witcher to join her so that they might watch the bonfires burn together.

1. I’m OK, You’re OK (6108 words; uni AU)- Tissaia's anxiety is not under control. Yennefer totally gets it, and Triss is a therapist, because of course, she is.

2. And Then There Were Three (26,290 words; domestic fluff)-Tissaia and Yennefer are happily married, and want a child to complete their family. The process won't be easy, but they have each other and their ride or die friend group. Some fluff, some angst, and shenanigans arise on their journey.

3. Self Control (1,149 words; fluff and smut)- Dr. Tissaia de Vries has legendary self control. Unless Yennefer of Vengerberg is in the room.

4. Come to my Office, Please (3,123 words; Eventual smut)-A private message gets sent to the entire group and puts a series of events into action.

5. Stars Fell on Aretuza (1,210 words; hurt/comfort)-It's the first Ascension Ball since the Thanedd Coup, and the first in decades not coordinated by Tissaia de Vries.

6. You Mistake the Stars (31,647 words; whump)- Yennefer saw Vilgefortz as a way to get off of the pig farm, but ended up in a worse situation. When she casts an errant portal and ends up on the Isle of Thanedd, she meets a cast of characters that will change her life.

7. Such a Good Turkey (2,606 words, crack fic)- It's close to Thanksiving on The Continent and no one has any chill.

8. I Might Love You More than Coffee (46,484 words; fluff)- Yennefer is intrigued by a mysterious new regular at her coffee shop, The Lodge. I'm no barista, so I'm relying on my extensive coffee consumption experience for the details on this one.

9. Le Tits Now! (3,939 words; crack fic)-It's the holiday season and everyone is in various states of festiveness. Shenanigans to follow...

10. And I Swear My Breath Turned Silver the Day Your Hair Did (4,942 words; angst with a happy ending)-I've never really written a real fix it for the Thanedd Coup before. I pretty much just ignore it by writing modern AUs or insinuate that everything turned out ok.

This is a somewhat canon compliant (until it's not) fix it for the Thanedd Coup fall out. I've had it in progress for a while and seem to be having trouble working on my other fic until this one is done.

11. What’s Lost is not Lost…Keep Looking! (1,380 words; crack fic)-Ciri's beloved stuffy is missing. Tissaia and Yen are ready to go all Liam Neeson from Taken, but the answer may be closer than they think.

12. Now the Air I Tasted and Breathed (Has Taken a Turn) (WIP; angst with a happy ending)-Ok, so....remember the musical episode of Grey's Anatomy (Song beneath the song)? Um...this is the Witcher version of that. Kind of, though (in my imagination) the characters aren't singing, it's just a montage of scenes with the song playing. If you aren't familiar with Black by Pearl Jam, listening is a good pre-reading activity. :)

13. How did we get THIS way? (3,933 words; crack treated seriously) - An alternate version of Rinde if Tissaia had shown up a bit later. OR...Tissaia de Vries accidentally crashes an orgy.

14. Nothing Sweeter Than a Bitter Cup of Coffee (13,681 words; light angst and crack)-More coffee shop shenanigans ensue when Rita shares some news with Tissaia.

15. More Indelible than Ink (WIP, fluff)- Tissaia is the proprietor of deVries Ink and Paper Shop and leads a very quiet, normal life...that is until a stunning raven-haired tattoo artist walks into her store.

Sabrina/Triss centric

1. The Kids are Alright (5,399 words; mutual pining)-Sabrina breaks her arm badly teaching novices non-magical self defense. Rita and Triss help her and Triss uses her chaos. The healer becomes the patient and Rita is sick of their shit.

2. Downtime (1,034 words, PWP?)- Sabrina's office has a network downtime and she needs something (or someone) to do.

3. What We Lost at Sodden (8,858 words; hurt/comfort)- This is another Sodden Hill story with a focus on Sabrina and Rita's experiences. I feel like Sabrina was too OK, too soon after Sodden, and I would love to have seen more of Rita's experience being charged with holding down the fort, knowing her friends were fighting for, and losing their lives.

4. The Things I Regret (2,036 words; hurt/comfort)- Written on the the one year anniversary of my mom's death. We had a very complicated relationship and I've been surprised at how I've felt since she died, vs. how I thought I would feel. I also had lunch recently with a friend who has gone no-contact with her mother due to her refusal to acknowledge her childhood trauma. These human experiences are always so interesting to me...if a bit painful. So, why not write about it? 😁

So, once again poor Sabrina gets to be a stand in for therapy. I mainly chose her because of her conduit moment, we know she has some issues there. 😁

5. Put Out the Fire in Your Head and Lay With Me Tonight (2,226 words; fluff and smut)-Sabrina is exhausted and stressed. Triss helps her relax. This is all fluff with a little bit of smut and nearly no plot. Just like I like to write. 😈😍

6. Burnout (10,501 words; hurt/comfort)-Sabrina is burnt out and coping as only Sabrina can, which is to say, not at all.

7. Aretuza (Be Sure to Wear Flowers in Your Hair) (1,465 words; tooth rotting fluff)- This is a snapshot of an Aretuza where they all live happily ever after, even if the novices are a bit ...incapable.

8. The world was on fire (and no one could save me but you) (22,760 words; angst with a happy ending)-IMO, this is the angstiest thing I've written, so be warned. None of the major characters die (I could never) but there is some death.

9. The 14th on the Hill (8,985 words; angst with a happy ending)-Another spin on Sodden, but this one pulls from book lore as well as Netflix lore and HCs.

Group shenanigans

1. Icks (1,116 words; crack fic)-Tissaia learns a new term. Everyone shares an ick in their relationship.

2. Triss’s Greenhouse (429 words; crack fic) -Tissaia needs to relax and Triss has something for that.

3. Beige Flags (770 words; crack fic)-Tissaia is slowly learning tik tok. She needs an explanation of beige flags.

4. Another Fic Where Triss is Stoned, but with Pokemon (965 words; crack fic)- This is a crack fic, but based on a real life conversation. No need to take this seriously. :) This is based on a video game called pal world That is essentially a rip off of pokémon... And they have guns.

5. Hanging Around (5,593 words, crack treated seriously)- Ok. I was inadvertently sent on a side quest to tell an important, and very serious story. It is based on the delightful video below which gave me several much needed laughs. This is set in the AUMC universe where Tissaia is a pathologist, Yennefer and Rita work in the hospitals PR department, Triss is a nurse and married to Sabrina, who manages the lab. The slides in question are stained blood and bone marrow which are used to microscopically diagnose blood disorders, such as leukemia. I think that is all the pre-reading needed.🤭

6. After Sodden (29,044 words; modern AU; slow burn?)- Ciri is an environmental activist, but accidentally commits a bit of eco-terrorism. She's now a fugitive and turns to Yennefer for help.This was inspired by a Tumblr prompt...I have taken a LOT of creative liberties here. (Read: I don't follow instructions well).

Wheel of Time

the geralt/eddie parallels haunt my every waking thought

if it wasnt 5 am and i was on my laptop i would type a novel on how geralts self hate regarding the trials, becoming a witcher and his inhumanness and eddies internalized homophobia, being raised catholic with heteronormative familial dynamics, and military trauma parallel so hard....

plus the presence of their children - ciri/chris - and how their dynamics with their fathers act as both objects assisting in geralt/eddie's self acceptance? healing?, and also obstacles in due to how the fathers project those pre-healed traumatic mindsets on them

and i would get into their dynamics with their male besties and how in accepting their love for them they have to combat those unhealthy lines of thinking head on. accepting that geralt isnt an unfeeling monster undeserving or unneeding of love, and eddie is attracted to men and has had a healthy co-parenting dynamic with someone who wasnt a woman. (jaskier-buck parallels is a whole other can of worms)

then dont even get me started on their relationships with women - starting back with geralts feeling of abandonment by his mother and eddie's emotional feeling of abandonment (and later literal abandonment) by shannon (in addition to the implication of his emotionally neglectful mother). and the betrayal the women in their life have committed against their kids - yennefer w ciri, shannon w chris

I’ve been watching since bb16 (been a feedster since bb17), and this has truly been the most invested I’ve been. Despite how frustrated I’ve been with production this year, I really think this season has some really stellar stuff in it (especially pre-jury). Small WIPs

Okay, so I went through all my folders and found some WIPs that are unfinished and will likely remain so. Some of them I'm quite fond of however, so I thought I would share these very very rough drafts anyway. A few slightly longer ones (and Yennaia) might be coming your way as well. :)

Firefighter AU:

Tissaia is a pre-school teacher, Calanthe is a firefighter. Tissaia's school hosts an annual Firefighter Day where the local fire station rolls out all their vehicles for the kids to inspect. Obviously, Philippa is a little shit, even at four years old.

Between all the noise, Philippa's voice reaches Tissaia's ears. "Ms Firefighter, do you like women?" 

Calanthe's eyes dart from Philippa to Tissaia, a small smirk playing on her lips. "Of course." 

"Do you like Ms de Vries?" 

"Philippa! That's inappropriate." Tissaia can feel her cheeks flush. 

"Yes, I do. She's very pretty, isn't she?" Calanthe winks. Lilith help her. 

Excitedly, Philippa yells out: "Ms de Vries! Finally somebody likes you!"

Much to Tissaia's gratitude, Calanthe hides her chuckle. Philippa doesn't need encouragement. Then, Triss' small voice reaches her ears. "Don't listen to her. I like you, Ms de Vries." 

Sweet, wonderful Triss. She squeezes her tiny hand a little tighter. "I like you too, dear."

Christmas AU

Tissaia and Calanthe are married and Calanthe is Santa Claus.

The woodsy scent from the Christmas tree fills the room. Red and golden baubles have been neatly arranged to hang on it, interspersed with lights. A twinkling star adorns its top. There's only one decoration out of the ordinary and it's a little snow globe. Inside, a couple of children are ice skating on a lake while some others are sledding down a snow-covered hill. 

After last year's rather exciting Christmas Eve Calanthe had promised Tissaia some relaxation. Together they had traveled to the northern parts of Sweden. Everything had been covered in snow: the lonely streets, the trees, even the reindeers' antlers. Calanthe had rented them an igloo with a glass dome just outside of town, so they could watch the Northern lights from their soft bed. At night they lay in tight embrace, caught between sensual kisses, sweet cuddles and wonderful sex. 

During the days they strolled through town, stopping at bookshops, cafés and museums. Tissaia had spotted a small corner store where they sold Christmas trinkets. Once they stepped inside, the bell above the door ringing, a cinnamon smell surrounded them. Calanthe had rolled her eyes at all the tacky decorations for their inauthenticity. 

"I don't have a beard for fuck's sake," she had muttered. Tissaia gave her a little kiss to her cheek and guided her to a display with an abundance of snow globes. They dispersed the warm glow coming from the fairy lights, reflecting in Calanthe’s emerald eyes. Tissaia saw the one with the children playing and picked it up to inspect it a little further. 

"That one looks a little like Ciri, don't you think?" 

The little girl had ash blonde hair, unsure on her feet with the skates beneath. Calanthe nodded and gently took it from Tissaia.

“Something beautiful for my beautiful wife,” she had said when she gave the clerk money over the counter, looking at Tissaia. The woman smiled knowingly, wishing them a happy new year. Tissaia still refuses to admit that this made her blush. 

Sex AU

To be honest, I recall none of the context. They probably met at some ball, obvious tension between them.

Calanthe: I could have had you come on my fingers by now. 

Tissaia: Is that all sex is to you? A quick release?

Calanthe’s jaw sets as Tissaia traces her finger up Calanthe’s arm, hand coming to rest on the spot between shoulder and chest. 

Calanthe: I'm no virgin. 

Tissaia: Certainly not. But the speed with which you desire to undress me begs the question: do you not know about the pleasures of the flesh outside the realm of mindbending orgasms? The torturous joy of slowly revealing layer after layer?
