I just saw this and I'm dying at the fact that I have yet again fallen down the rabbit hole of pre-affair era on a Tuesday

Robert went from “I don’t negotiate with idiots” to “Shut up and kiss me you idiot” and I think that’s beautiful

Okay, I have a theory. A wild 'villain Fauxbert trying to recreate Robron on purpose' theory. Going to post it just for fun.

• RadioTimes strongly implied that we would see more copycat scenes, and even posed the question if John was making them happen on purpose

• There might be scenes coming up (before Christmas) where the two of them say 'I love you', according to that anon the other day

• The week before Christmas, according to the new spoilers, Aaron and John are going on a (surprise!?) camping trip. What if that's the place where they declare their 'love'?

• If this theory stands, and Fauxbert is staging certain events in Robron's relationship; his van breaking down, the lay-by, the pushing and shoving, getting a job where he could easily get it on in a barn, saving Aaron's life (ok, this one would have been hard to plan, I'll give him that... But in the end he did set the scene for what happened by calling the police)

Where was an important 'I love you' said by Aaron to Robert? In the woods! That's where.

What If John takes Aaron camping, they end up having a (pre meditated) romantic chat in the woods, and ILYs are exchanged? 👀👀👀

That wouldn't be considered a coincidence would it??

IM defo did not like Robert as he said he was born evil and that "saint" Jack and Andy were not to blame at all for Robert issues *pukes*

I swear him and some people clearly did not watch Robert pre Karl Davies to say he was born evil etc. because the 1st robert was a harmless kid who actually basically brought Andy into his home and family to be repaid by Andy making his life hell, ripping his 2nd mother away and driving him out of his own home and family and Jack continuedly backing up Andy and openly berating Robert and favouring Andy and constantly made to feel unwanted within his own family and usurped by an entitled Andy.

also Robron he claimed to love them but shit on KO creation basically imo having Robert cheat when KO said maybe the reason he cheated was because he never satisfied and maybe being with a man he would be and basically that Aaron was no different to Chrissie or Katie really and undid Robert character development to do the same redemption arc himself ugh, calling Robert evil while acting like Bex is a saint and excusing her homewrecking and even saying she can steal your man and you'd still love her wtf?

I mean Robert is a complex character, it's one of the reason's why I've loved him since the Karl Davies era. He definitely wasn't born Evil, and I think he was more of a morally grey character than anything else. Obviously there was character changes from Davies era to Hawley era, which considering the time that Robert was away make sense. He was a kid when he left, and when he returned he was a man.

But I'd say Hawley did a good job smoothing that transition between his version and Davies's version, and I could still see pockets of the original character in there. I don't think Emmerdale ever portrayed him as evil. If you look at what he did to Aaron, and Katie, it wasn't for some love of killing, it was to hold on to power, and also a life he felt he was owned. He'd always been shun as the "least favourite" son, and lesser then. Him wanting to marry Chrissie, live at Home Farm, was more about the shunned working class son, finally living in the house on the hill and proving to those below he deserved to be there. That's his arc.

Now his exist arc, obviously includes flat out murder, and while it was to protect his sister, it wasn't an accident like Katie and was clearly done because they needed to get rid of his character. However, for me the biggest mistake was not just telling Danny to exist with Ryan, seeing as Danny existed himself what 6-8 months later. Yes he came back, but Emmerdale could have played it as an off screen break up, and left the door open for Ryan to return.

While I don't like his exist arc, I don't think it's that OOC. Robert has proven over the years his capable of doing a lot of the people he loves. Also I cannot understand this anon at the end, cheating plots are the bread and butter of soaps and KO loved them. She obviously really liked robron, it was her creation. And yes, KO had a flare for the dramatics but that's soap down to a tie.

pre affair robron is so amazing because you know robert was going crazy with his weird boners for aaron, who constantly shut him down, shoved him into walls and was generally a nightmare to be around, all the while thinking aaron had a crush on his wife chrissie, but then when aaron tells robert he's gay you get this second of pure bliss across robert's face because he realizes it's not chrissie aaron has a crush on. she is not the reason why aaron is doing him all those favors for. he is. aaron has a crush on him. and the rest is history folks!

hiiiiii new mutual!!! first of all love your blog so much. star trek AND emmerdale??? sign me the fuck up!!! also god seeing emmerdale and robron again after years just makes me so emotional. i was there during the heydays of robron and went through every single emotional rollercoaster with them. just love seeing people still here discovering their storyline, and now here i am again after all these years still missing them like crazy. anyway, just wanted to pass by and say hello and thank you for reminding me of my love for these boys <3

+ you’ll be glad to know i’ve been pushing them onto all my friends too so i’m certainly not the newest robron-er trust me!! they’re just THAT good that nearly 10 years later they seem to hit even newcomers like me like genuinely i was shocked at just how invested i became so quickly and i feel like when i finally rewatch (which im itching to do sooo) it’ll be even worse cause even just seeing robert’s face when he looks at aaron pre-getting together in gifsets now makes me want to explode lmfao
