@soraorigins made my locs pretty again 9 months postpartum with 9 months of postpartum hair. I haven't maintained my locs for 10 months. A friend of mine did a deepclean a few months back. It was really bad I didn't know my hair would get so greassy from all the hormones of being pregnant and breastfeeding and lets be real, as a new mom I had little time for taking good, long showers and just neglected myself. It took 5 baking soda baths, apple cider vinegar rinses and soaking in dish soap to get it clean. I felt ashamed but then I want to be open that this too is a side to being a new parent. Maybe not for all parents, but for me it was reality. I forgot to take care of myself. In the end, 9 months postpartum I think of taking more care of myself and take me-time. Including getting my locs done by somebody else this time and I'm so happy I did. A recap of this week’s hair after rinsing out the blowout. I love wash n gos. Especially after getting the treatment and a much needed trim. Thankfully no postpartum shedding. #PregnancyHair vs #PostpartumHair. >> Increased levels of oestrogen during pregnancy can disrupt the natural hair cycle causing an extra number of follicles to become active during the growth stage, increasing hair growth. Oestrogen also blocks some follicles in the shedding stage so less hair is lost. In turn, your hair appears longer, thicker, shinier and healthier. Unfortunately once you give birth and your oestrogen levels drop, some hair follicles enter the shedding stage of the hair growth/loss cycle whereas others enter a resting stage. Although existing hairs are shed as per normal, this loss isn’t matched by the growth of new hair which can lead to the thinning of hair. Don't worry it usually balances itself out within a few months, but this can come as a shock, especially if you've been enjoying having a full, lush mane while pregnant! 👶🏼 BABY HAIRRRRRS ✨ The struggle is real guys 😂 My hair is actually pretty curly/wavy (not nearly as much as my daughters) but still pretty curly. Especially when it’s short- hence these little guys hahahaha. They get soooo curly all around my head after having a baby. It’s like almost a guarantee with me and having babies haha and there’s only one way to the other side- through it. Especially if your breastfeeding lol cause you are limited in what you can take for hair growth. The struggle is realllll. Just know I feel you mamas out there. I gotchu lolol.
