Comment Bingo: Old Fic Edition
Very simple rules: connect 5 squares in a line by commenting on fics that suit the task in each square
Very simple goals: encourage readers to comment on older fics; encourage fandom writers to KEEP WRITING
STEPS:
Download Bingo Card HERE (png) or HERE (jpg) or HERE (pdf)
Complete the tasks on the card, marking off each as you go, until you've completed 5 in a line (vertical, horizontal, or diagonal; NO double-dipping; center ♥️ is a free space)
POST your winning card (or list your filled squares) and tag @feedthefandomfest! Glory in your victory.
SEARCH TIPS:
This card requires some familiarity with AO3's search filters. Once you've narrowed your results according to fandom/ship/additional tags, certain squares require you to sort the results by Date Updated, which is the default. Other squares require you to search for fics posted within a certain range of years, which you can do by scrolling on the search menu to More Options:
Note that to enter a date range, you must format the date as shown.
REWARD:
✨ victory badges ✨
New badge for this card, but here are examples from previous cards:
Tag me when you earn a bingo (or double, triple, quadruple... FULL CARD bingo) and I'll reblog a shiny badge with your name on it to commemorate the win.
FAQ:
Can I comment on tumblr or only on AO3?
Either one is great! This card especially is more designed with AO3 in mind, but some can be adjusted to suit tumblr as well, so I say go for it. Tumblr fics deserve love, too.
Can one comment count toward multiple squares if the fic fits more than one category?
Since the goal is for as many fics to receive comments as possible, try to comment on a different fic for each square.
Is there a time limit?
Nope! Take your time or set your own deadline, whatever works for you. This blog is still in its early experimental stage, so feedback welcome. Play around and let me know what you like and what might be added/changed—including ideas for squares on future cards!
Do I have to record progress on the actual card?
Nope! If it’s easier to keep track in a different way, that’s fine. This is all very honor system, so if you say you earned a Bingo, we’ll call it a win 🎉
Some people have been tracking not just completed tasks, but the fics they read along the way, so that when they post a bingo, they can also promote the fics/authors in a little rec list. Not required, but definitely cool to see!
Can I adjust the task in a particular square to suit my comfort level?
Of course! If you deliver something in the spirit of the task, then it’s all good. Use your best judgement in constructing a comment that will make the author smile, and you can consider it a job well done.
In general, so long as each square has produced at least one comment, you’re golden and I salute you 🫡
Happy commenting!!
#comment bingo#old fic edition#feed the fandom fest#this one is for the ambitious#more of a scavenger hunt than other cards#please note that you can narrow your search field however you wish before sorting according the task in the square!#i've added searching/filtering tips under the cut

We got new glimpses of Captain Taehyung in his SDT uniform!
He met Big Mama's Lee Ji-young while working this event.
Translation is as follows:
🐯I’m BTS V
👤yes?
🐯I’m BTS V
👤oh my! omo
👤woah BTS V??!
🐯since SDT team stationed here, I’ve come *inaudible*
👤oh is it? You look really cool… *inaudible*

Lee Ji-young expressed admiration about meeting Tae afterwards, saying, "I've always seen you look cool on stage, but I never thought you're this gentle off stage as well. You are even cooler in your uniform. I hope you finish your military service in good health and see you in great shape.”
Tae Bear looks happy and healthy, which makes me happy. I absolutely love this clip of him and other soldiers posing the way he suggests. He’s just so precious -

And this is really cool! According to Taehyung Naver on Twitter: “Chuncheon Post Office to release Taehyung’s stamps and postcards on June 13 to commemorate the 11th anniversary of BTS's V's debut.
“V's stamps and postcards will be released on June 13, BTS' debut date. The issuance of V's commemorative stamp was accomplished at the suggestion of the Chuncheon Post Office.
In collaboration with Chuncheon Post Office and V's Korean fan bases 'Kim Taehyung Supporters Korea' and 'V Inside', a total of 14 types of stamps will be issued this time, and 6 types of postcards will also be issued.
With his exemplary military service, V has brought out a positive image and pride in the Korean Armed Forces overseas. He has also been spotted several times at events held in Chuncheon, playing his role as a public relations ambassador for Chuncheon.
This scene was broadcast not only in Korea but also in overseas media, and people were moved by the humble appearance of a world-class star, while also raising questions about the event. Global fans' interest in Chuncheon is expected to increase further through the issuance of V's commemorative stamp.
Stamps of stars are popular not only with stamp collectors but also with global fans, establishing themselves as a cultural product””

My trip to Taiwan
I took a break from posting because...I went to Taiwan! This was my first time going there, and I was mostly in Taipei. I had a great time and took many, many photos. I'll share some highlights here (along with commentary) to commemorate my trip.
Left: Liberty Square 自由廣場 Right: Chiang Kai-shek Memorial 中正紀念堂
You can't tell here, but there was a row of porta-potties directly to the left of the archway. That was a funny sight. There was also a stage in the middle of the square. Maybe they do outdoor concerts?
Left: Tamsui Old Street 淡水老街 Right: "Sidewalk"
Besides the main roads, most streets lacked raised sidewalks. Instead, they had a painted path. I had to get comfortable being very, very close to cars and other vehicles.
Left: Motorbike parking lot near Tamsui Old Street Right: Covered sidewalk.
I’ve seen motorbikes before in China, but Taipei took things to a new level. Motorbikes were absolutely everywhere. I even saw this parking lot exclusively for motorbikes. They rule the streets.
In the busy downtown districts, you often don’t need an umbrella due to the covered sidewalks. You can walk for blocks and blocks while staying covered. This was pretty convenient on rainy days.
Left: Jadeite Cabbage 翠玉白菜 at the National Palace Museum 國立故宮博物院 Right: Umbrella rack (also at the museum)
Confession—I didn't think the National Palace Museum was that good. Probably because I've been to the actual Forbidden City in Beijing. And sadly, the Meat-Shaped Stone wasn't on exhibit.
In the US, some stores will provide a plastic bag for your wet umbrella. In Taipei, many stores had a rack or basket outside instead. Most were not as secure or elaborate as the one pictured.
Left: Eslite Xinyi Store (bookstore) 誠品信義店 Right: Sun Yat-sen Memorial 國父紀念館
I bought a couple books and a Yoga Lin CD at the Eslite 24-hour bookstore. I only planned to swing by, but I think I spent 2 hours there. I definitely recommend checking it out if you're in Taipei.
Taipei 101 台北101
It was overcast when I went to Taipei 101, but the view was still nice. On the bright side, there was NO line. 101 is by far the tallest building around, so you really feel that you're looking down at the city.
Taroko National Park 太魯閣國家公園
Taroko was the only place I visited outside of the Taipei/New Taipei City area. It's in Hualien county on the east coast. There were so many betel nut stores in the countryside on the way there.
Left: Pond at NTU 國立臺灣大學 Right: 228 Peace Memorial Park 二二八和平紀念公園
Taipei has the best parks! They really put American parks to shame. Before going, I didn't understand why so many Taipei parks are tourist destinations with 4.5+ star reviews, but now I totally get it.
Elephant Mountain 象山
I didn’t realize how mountainous Taiwan is. Taipei is cradled by mountains, so there are many places to hike, even within city limits. I braved the rain for the famous view from Elephant Mountain.
Subway billboard 臺北捷運
The Taipei Metro/MRT was amazing. So fast, clean, frequent, and convenient. US subway systems are a joke in comparison. These are from an amusing series of billboards promoting riding etiquette.
Some other observations:
I was quite impressed by all of the English signage in Taipei. I think it would be very easy to navigate even if you don’t know Chinese. Many stores and small eateries had menus, signs, etc. in English.
I knew Taiwan had many convenience stores, but I was not prepared to see a Family Mart or 7/11 on every block. Someone needs to open this style convenience store in the US ASAP.
I saw numerous adds featuring Korean actors like Son Ye-jin and also kpop groups like IVE and NewJeans. I also heard kpop playing at various stores, whereas in America, I only hear it at Hmart.
I was struck by how many street signs and subway stops names used pinyin romanization. There was a lot of inconsistency and mixing of different romanization systems. For example, you have Taipei vs. Beitou (same character: 北).
There were many Japanese stores, pharmacies, and restaurants. Upon further consideration, this makes sense given Taiwan's history, but it stood out to me nonetheless.
Overall, I had a lovely time in (mostly) Taipei. As a big city (but not too big) surrounded by beautiful nature, there's something for everyone. I already want to go back! Of course I also want to see some other areas of Taiwan too. Maybe next year.

Trickery Post #0 - Introduction
Hello world.
I'm Cathy.
This series of posts I'm going to do was originally planned as a YouTube series, but for various reasons, that idea has not worked out.
I watched Good Omens season 1 and season 2 roughly in late October 2023. While I left the season 2 ending unsatisfied, I still managed to become quite obsessed with David Tennant as Crowley.
I love his portrayal of Crowley so much.
And, through this obsession, I found these very interesting-to-me and very silly puzzle games that exist in Good Omens 2. These games give me a way to keep the obsession going and busy.
This series is going to be about me playing those games, especially the earlier stages.
So, here are a few things I think you might want to consider before you decide if it's worth the trouble of reading these posts.
There are multiple reasons I'm doing this series but a really big one is the situation with season 3. Due to the allegations against Neil Gaiman, season 3 was changed from planned as a six-episode series into a 90-minute movie. I was very upset to learn that news myself because I was really looking forward to season 3 as 6 episodes.
Now a part of me is thinking that's why I should let go of this idea. The games can be null and void. They can be cancelled in this process. They can be retconned out of existence since they are hidden games to begin with. They can be undone. Another part of me is, "Actually, that's all the more reason to do it."
That is to say, the games could very easily be lost and left without being found beyond what work I've already put into them and posted already here on Tumblr.
So, that's something, right? I can just leave those Tumblr posts intact, and the work is there, even if season 3 leaves whatever was originally intended for the games behind. They're already here.
That's all true.
But...in the process of how I've found it is best for me to do things on Tumblr, something ends up lost in the progression of my play. I have found it best to just post some thoughts and ideas, think on them, and then a lot of times, go back and edit those posts to something I hope is more coherent and presentable for my overall point. By doing that, the actual sense of play is lost in translation because the mistakes and realizations as they happen are not left intact.
So, this series is a way for me to commemorate that play because it meant a lot to me as it happened.
I want to store these memories sooner, rather than later, before time helps them slip away from me that much more quickly. I think YouTube would have been more suited to do such a thing, but the work involved is more than I can give at this time in my life.
I am not making season 3 predictions. Conclusions I made are now all the more available to be ignored in season 3 for the sake of simplifying the story or just making it new and different from what it was going to be anyway.
All of that is to say that, I'm making this series for me, even if I'm inviting you into see what it meant to me in these posts.
So, if you don't like the series or feel like it has nothing of any value to you, please move onto other things as soon as you realize that's how you feel about the posts.
Even though this series is focused on my own personal experience, I will be talking frequently in the second person or as "we" and "us" because I like describing the play as a shared experience. It's more fun for me that way.
...
We are going to be playing a long game. These puzzles took months to find and solve.
Don't expect to get things right away. If that happens, great. If it doesn't, please keep in mind that many solutions I found took time to sink in as I found them.
Alright, so I'm going to talk about me because even I forget that I had these parts of my life leading into how I am able to play the games the way that I do. Based on general observation, no one else seems able to play quite like I do because I have a knack for finding certain important names, phrases, and ideas.
I am not someone who has ever worked on a movie or TV show or any entertainment field really as a professional. It's something I used to want to do, especially as an actress. I took drama in high school. I wasn't very good, but my teacher saw potential in me, so I was still invited to go from Drama 1 to Drama 4, instead of Drama 2 after my first year in the class. In my senior year, I was assistant director for a student-directed play at my high school. I was also in charge of lighting. In addition to that, I was assistant to my drama teacher for his first two periods. My acting did improve finally by my senior year, and my teacher said as much. I had a Technical Theater class as well.
I took honors English in high school.
I declined a theater scholarship to USC when I realized I was too scared to move from home.
I ended up not pursuing a career in the entertainment industry at all.
Instead, I ended up in Information Systems as a major while remaining in my hometown. I won't give my actual title, but it might be easiest to understand that I'm a programmer and a bit of a low-rank programmer at that. So far as my IT experience goes, no one has ever worked under me, and I don't mind that in the least. Even so, I have nearly 20 years of experience in what amounts to problem-solving.
When I'm not working at my job, I've had hobbies that go along the lines of playing video games, watching anime, writing fanfiction, and reading books. I don't watch movies nearly as much as I used to and the same goes for TV though my obsession before this one with David Tennant as Crowley was for Rainbow Dash from My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic.
I've also worked on audiobook readings of fanfic, both some of one I wrote and some of my favorite overall series, Austraeoh, by Imploding Colon aka shortskirtsandexplosions.
All of these traits inadvertently amount to someone who can put together some pieces of a puzzle to recognize a game, ask some of the right questions, and then actually find some of the right answers.
Now another thing about me is that I go through obsession phases. I used to be really obsessed with Devil Jin from Tekken. He used to be my favorite fictional character for many years. That changed in 2018 when Rainbow Dash suddenly became my new favorite.
Crowley's a bit of an odd situation because my favoritism for him strongly stems from the actor, David Tennant. It's not just Crowley, and it's not just David Tennant. It's the combination of these two that I love so deeply. David Tennant is perfect for Crowley.
Plus, these games help keep the obsession going.
So, a few things about my approach to the storyline and the characters.
In October 2018, I saw a promotional image for Good Omens that featured David Tennant with black-feathered wings. You do that, and you have my attention.
I decided to read the book. I had mixed feelings about Neil Gaiman's writing but had heard nothing but good things about Terry Pratchett's work.
I left the book with mixed feelings too. Some of it was funny. Some of it was really racist and took homophobia rather lightly, I thought. I was a bit bored with the kids (The Them) and the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. I thought Crowley and Aziraphale were a lot more interesting than everyone else. I was already fond of the idea of David Tennant playing Crowley, and thought oh yes, he will be perfect for this character.
I wasn't sure if I would watch the show because it might be too gross for my liking.
Five years passed, generally.
In October 2023, I finally decided to watch the first season of Good Omens. I was satisfied.
After that, I hesitated on watching the second season since I was at least aware the story was incomplete.
I read up on spoilers and decided to give it a go.
The ending didn't really sit right with me. I was annoyed and confused.
But, annoyed and confused as I was, I could not get enough of David Tennant as Crowley. So, I went to Tumblr to get some pictures and could at least read about what other people thought.
Here are my own thoughts on the types of fan interpretations I like of Crowley as a character.
I highly prefer to think of Crowley as clever, creative, resourceful, and imaginative. I do not think using the term "idiot" is cute or funny. I have no affection for it myself. I accept that it's part of the show and that Crowley uses it the way he does, but I don't like it. Over the years, I've read that "idiot" is an ableist slur. While I've tried to get better about my avoiding use of the term, I haven't quite reached a point where I find it my business to tell other people they shouldn't. Sometimes, in context, I get it. Even if the word weren't considered ableist, I generally don't like to affectionately insult characters I like anyway.
For me, these games show that Crowley is a more active and strategic participant in his own story than an initial viewing of season 2 might lead one to believe.
I don't really like Aziraphale much in general, so I'm perfectly good with reading posts that are more critical of him as a character. I don't seek them out, and I actually don't see them much to begin with.
My bias is rather obvious and plain so that I don't like to read those posts on Crowley. I don't say, even on my blog, that people shouldn't. I just don't want to read them. It's really not hard to criticize Crowley. I'm happy to rise to the challenge these games bring in seeing something more to him instead.
Even though I don't like Aziraphale, I appreciate the pairing itself. I also think it's important that the characters have some difference, some separation from each other as people, and I do think season 2 provides that.
If you want spoilers on the games, you'll find them all over my blog. A good central place to find them is my Good Omens 2 Compendium post. And if you don't want those spoilers on the games, they're hard to avoid, but we will be moving forward through this series of posts while trying to minimize or avoid them all the same. As noted earlier, that's to help show the journey itself, to get a sense of the play that's been lost from me just shoving so many answers up front in my collection of GO2 meta posts.
The series is planned to be 10 posts long (0-9).
...
We're going to be using our imaginations and playing with words to progress through the puzzles. (For reference: Trickery)

9th October 1900 saw the birth in Edinburgh of Alastair Sim, the actor best known for his character and comedy roles.
He was the youngest of Alexander and Isabella Sim's four children. His father was a tailor who owned his own shop on Lothian Road, it is still a shop selling running gear nowadays. To use a suitable phrase for his father, I like the jib of the man, Alexander was one of a group of professional people in Edinburgh who noted the plight of wounded Veterans returning from the front who had little or no prospects of suitable accommodation or employment ahead of them. They founded the Scottish Veterans Garden City Association during the 1st World War and, under the chairmanship of Lord Salvesen, paid for the construction of houses for the use of returning servicemen.
Alexander Sim was offered, but refused, a knighthood.
For a time, the family lived above the shop, but as Alastair entered school, the business picked up enough that they were able to move to a house in Craigleith. Young Alistair was educated at Bruntsfield Primary, James Gillespie's High School and George Heriot's School. He worked for his father then another Edinburgh tailor but showed little aptitude and decided to enter Edinburgh University, studying analytical chemistry, but his further education was cut short when he was called up to the army. After the war he returned home and announced to his parents he was going to take up acting, this wnet down like a lead balloon and there was a falling out, Alistair left the family home and spent a year in the Scottish Highlands with a group of jobbing workers.
On returning to Edinburgh Sim took post in the burgh assessor's office. In his spare time, he entered poetry reading classes, winning the gold medal for verse speaking at the Edinburgh Music Festival. This led to him taking a job as a Fulton lecturer in elocution at New College, part of the University of Edinburgh.
Alastair Sim began working as a stage actor in 1930, taking on minor roles. His deep talent was soon discovered, and he was cast as Othello that same year. In 1932, he met and married Naomi Plaskill, his muse and wife for life. The couple had one child, a daughter named Merlith. It wasn't long before Sim moved to films in supporting roles. One of his more memorable characters was that of Detective Sergeant Bingham in the film series Inspector Hornleigh. His on-screen presence was so dominant that he has often been credited with "stealing the scene" from the film's star actors.
Throughout the 1940s, Sim was cast in several lead roles; he starred in the thriller Green for Danger, the comedy The Happiest Days of Your Life and Alfred Hitchcock's Stage Fright, among other major films. One of Sim's better-known portrayals was that of Captain Hook in the production of Peter Pan, a role he reprised six times during his career. In a national cinema poll in 1950, Sim was voted the most popular film actor in Britain.
I think quite a few of us will remember Alastair Sim in a slightly different role to those I have already pointed out, growing up before we had all the TV channels we have now and watching the old black & white films and the classic Belles of St Trinians where he played headmistress Millicent Fritton.
Looking through his other roles, I spotted he played the notorious Dr Knox, not once-but twice. For those who don't know, the doctor of note was a professor of Anatomy at Edinburgh University, he paid Messrs Burke & Hare for fresh cadavers to demonstrate the human anatomy at the University.
I mentioned Alistair's father refusing a knighthood, and it pleases me to tell you he too refused the offer of becoming Sir Alistair Sim in the early 70's.
He died of cancer in August 1976, insisting that his body be used for medical research - and that there should be no memorial service for him. His widow lived until 1999; she published a memoir, Dance and Skylark: Fifty Years with Alastair Sim in 1987. There is a plaque, commemorating Sim's birth, outside the Filmhouse Cinema in Lothian Road, Edinburgh, only a short distance from where he was born above his father's shop.

A 'The Lightning Thief' Musical Appreciation Post (and recommending a documentary-of-sorts)
youtube
Message to all you TLT: The Musical fans out there! Just watched the new documentary-of-sorts by Wait in the Wings about the production of TLT and its journey through from small 1-hour play for middle schools to (still underrated) Broadway production, and I cannot recommend it enough! It has interview excerpts from Joe Tracz, Rob Rokicki, Stephen Brackett and Kristin Stokes as well, and both Kristin Stokes and Chris McCarrell have praised it if that helps your expectations.
Always nice to see this musical appreciated online and elsewhere, in all its camp glory. To all the TLT musical fans out there who have also been here and treasured this show and the community surrounding it, perhaps the real lightning thief was the friends we made along the way. Always glad to have found this community :)
Quick message for Percy Jackson fans that haven't seen the musical yet: Well, you might be wondering what to do after you've watched the TV series and boy do I have the content for you. This is a great musical for anyone whose a fan of the books; having borne the brunt of negative expectations after the unspeakable movies came out, this musical still captured people with its fun charm and emotional core for good reason. The soundtrack is out everywhere pretty much, it might not be your kind of media but I'd still give it a shot (particularly if you're into musicals)! I know I haven't gone into much detail here about why this musical works, although I'd like to say more someday; if you want more information, plenty of people on Tumblr have said things about it and the video above does go into why this musical is/was so loved by fans of it. For now I'll just say that it is very genuine and heartwarming, taking the emotional core of the Lightning Thief novel and adapting it for the stage in a way that commemorates and stays true to the novel (even with references to the rest of the novels in there, such as a Bianca di Angelo cameo in the Lotus Casino!).
Anyways, quick post here, just another reminder to always appreciate the TLT musical. Cheers!
#Youtube#this is just an appreciation post man#always willing to give 3 cheers for the lightning thief musical#so many people have forgotten this gem in the run-up to the TV series and I am here to remind everyone whether they like it or not#with PJO getting popular again hopefully this fun musical gets a bit more recognition too amongst Percy Jackson fans#I hope it has/will atleast!#tlt musical#tlt#pjo#percy jackson#pjo tv show#wait in the wings#riordanverse#musicals#musical theatre#pjo adaptation#appreciation post#posts originating from my brain

Aspen's Anniversary Sleepover
Exactly one year ago, as it was turning from July 3rd to July 4th in my Mountain time zone, I was finalizing things and getting ready to post the first fanfic I'd published in more than six years. New account, new fandom. Starting a new stage of life, really... And part of that was to reclaim my love of writing. So I did it.
A lot of things have changed in my life over the course of this particular year's worth of days. Major pieces of my life have shifted, and small things as well. A significant part of my life and happiness since then has been this fandom - writing, reading, connecting with others, developing true friendships. My life doesn't revolve around this stuff, but it has grown from the good here.
AND SO I WANT TO THROW MY FIRST SLEEPOVER PARTY WITH YOU, MY TUMBLR FRIENDS - FROM THE CASUAL FOLLOWERS TO THE MUTUAL BESTIES!
The actual sleepover festivities will take place this weekend, but I'm posting to commemorate THE ANNIVERSARY MOMENT.
To see what good mischief I want to get up to with all of you, click the "keep reading..."
This week I'll be posting:
A follow up to The Brooklyn Boys series (the first story I posted on @buckets-and-trees)
A smutty little sequel to something to go along with another week of Hot Bucky Summer
A BRAND NEW STORY debut for a Bucky AU that was born from a request I got when I did my 300 Follower Request Fest (which just seems totally insane given it's only been a couple of months since then, and now I'm flirting with almost 1k of you)
🤔 TRUTH: Take a look at my library and then drop a question in my askbox about one of my stories or a character from that story.
😏 DARE: Take a look at my library and then drop a dare to write a trope or AU you think might challenge me (don’t pick the character - my muse likes a challenge, but thrives on creative freedom to make challenges work).
I’ll give you either a quick “how I would write it”/plot idea OR it may just turn into one of my upcoming stories (still looking for ideas for Bucky Barnes Bingo fills and a series of spooky stories I want to publish once a week this fall).
🍫 SNACKS & TREATS: Drop a pic or gif or thot in my ask box about one of my favorite fictional men for us to drool over and eat up together.
🤫 LATE NIGHT SECRETS: Ask me almost anything (within reason - this is the public internet, so I'm not going to tell you intimate details) OR take inspo from this writing-based ask game.
🤩 STARGAZING: Point at one of these stories I'm working on and ask for either a LINE 💫 or a DETAIL ✨ , and I'll share something from that work:
Devour, pt. 2: Fat
Devour, pt. 3: Acid
Devour, pt. 4: Heat
Thighs of Betrayal
Right About Him, Wrong About Me
Return Line
The Great Bucky Bake Off
PLEASE FILL UP MY ASKBOX AS SOON AS IT SUITS YOUR LEISURE! It's my first big sleepover and I've definitely picked games that I am eager to play and celebrate with all of you. Don't be shy! I wouldn't be posting if I didn't want to hear from you!
If you want to submit on anon, you absolutely can because I've been blessed so far only to have received the nicest things from anons, and I know I was intimidated to send asks to some of the blogs I followed for a while, so I get it.

Hello again, BunAl.
Long post below the cut. Personal and random as usual.
It's been a long time since I last played this game. There was one time when I intended to get back into it but was too put off by how different everything was from what I remembered. I wasn't too keen on re-learning, especially when my Japanese skills were non-existent at that time. For a long time, my library was stuck in lv. 77.
I don't remember exactly what made me re-open it in late 2023 (maybe the hype leading up to the 7th anniversary?), but I did. Then I go to the wiki to check the list of writers I have missed obtaining during my absence. One particular writer gets me obsessed and before I knew it, I started logging in religiously, each day, without fail. Thrice a day, even.
The writer in question ⬇
Essentially, I kept playing because I wanted to know more about Bimyo, and in doing so, my interest was reignited, coming back stronger than when the first time I started. The first screenshot was taken back in early December 2023 to commemorate my leveling up to 100, something I never thought would happen. I grind every day just so I can obtain Bimyo's base/default outfits. If I was overwhelmed by the new mechanism before, I certainly wasn't this time. It all went through like a breeze like sudden enlightenment. I was no longer confused by how things worked, what material should I use, or when.
BIMYOOOooooOOOO!!! <3
I can't really find words enough to convey how much I love his あーた, or more precisely the way his VA (Kobayashi Yusuke) says it. The fact that it is a word more commonly used by women towards their husbands (courtesy of BunAl English wiki) doesn't help. As I read more content, I came to find his personality more and more endearing. I can only hope he'll be featured more in future events now.
Okay, it's all largely thanks to the wiki actually, lmao. But the thing is, I remember visiting it once and leaving still feeling very confused. That's no longer the case this time. Information is readily absorbed and understood upon reading once. Was I really that dumb before...
Anyway, since my understanding of the new system has mostly reached its best, I can definitely say BunAl has done great job of improvement. No more dying, easier grinding, fair gacha, etc. Design and illustrations are beautiful, but that's been the case since the start. (So yeah, I was positively that dumb before).
Well, to conclude this somewhat aimless post, I just want to say how grateful I am for the longevity of the game itself and the continuous support of the BunAl English wiki staff. I'm so glad I returned before something like an EOS announcement could happen. Unlike TKRB, or MHYK/YMKR/TWST, BunAl has always been more on the quieter side for a joseimuke game, so it's always a looming threat for me.
Lastly, another screenshot. Currently stuck at this stage, trying to beat tainted Yuzu.

BACC RULES Hello friends! In celebration of 100 posts here on tumblr, I decided to bring you one more thing that no one asked for and I'm going to do it anyway: My ruleset for my build a city challenge (BACC) in Valeree! You can find many rules on the internet and mine are very inspired by @pleasantsims and @melsie-sims with some changes since I play TS4 and they play TS2. If you have no idea what BACC is, in an extremely brief way, the goal of this challenge is to start with a completely blank neighborhood and to create an entire “Sim City.” Please note, rules may be added, removed or modified at any point in time. My main focus is getting to know my sims and telling a good story.
STARTING OUT
Start with however many played sims you want. I really like the unforeseen so I used a die to determine how many founders Valeree would have. I advise something between 3 and 8, because at first, everyone will live on the same lot, "The Founders' house". Later in the game, when the founders move into their own homes, all of my sims will be played rotationally. ALL of them!
They're in the middle of nowhere, so service sims such as maids, police officers, firefighters and delivery sims are locked at the start of the game.
I gave them enough money to buy a lot and withdrew all the money before starting the game. My founders started this journey with no simoleons. At this stage of the game, they made simoleons by fishing, planting, searching for treasure, building at the woodworking table, and painting on canvas. Here you need to be strategic, when the first simoleons arrive, what to do with it? Buy a tent? A barbecue? Or a woodworking table and easel where sims can make even more money?
In the beginning, in the middle of nowhere, of course they don't have electricity, so the off the grid trait is mandatory on all lots until electricity is unlocked. I have specific rules for electricity even after it's unlocked in Valeree. You can read a little more about it by clicking here, but to summarize, a particularly poor neighborhood in Valeree will continue to have the off-the-grid trait even after the electricity is unlocked.
SETTINGS
I play with the four seasons, starting with winter. Each season lasts for 14 days. For each season I have some specific holidays: -WINTER Founders' Day: a national holiday where children don't have school and adults don't work. A day to light a fire, roast marshmalows, tell new generations about Valeree's story and enjoy the arts at the museum. Watcher's Day: a national holiday where children don't have school and adults don't work. A day to decorate the house, make big meals and invite the family to celebrate. New year's Day: National holiday where children don't have school and adults don't work. A day to make new resolutions, gather friends and celebrate the beginning of a new year.
-SPRING
Chocolate' Day: Commemorative date but not a national holiday, children go to school and adults work. A day to be surrounded by children looking for chocolate eggs hidden around the house.
Flower' Day: Commemorative date but not a national holiday, children go to school and adults work. A day to gift someone you love and call a crush on a date.
-SUMMER
Summer recess: It takes place on all weekdays of the summer, when children don't go to school and adults don't work. A great opportunity to enjoy the sun, travel and discover a new hobby.
-FALL
Harvest' Day: National holiday where children don't have school and adults don't work. A day to prepare a big meal, invite the family and prepare for the winter.
Ancestors' Day: Commemorative date but not a national holiday, children go to school and adults work. A day to remember all those who have died, children collecting treats from other people's homes and telling scary stories.
SIMS
My sims have a custom lifespan. Pregnancy: 14 days Baby: 14 days Infant: 28 days Toddler: 42 days days Child: 56 days Teen: 56 days Young Adult: 168 days Adult: 168 days Elderly: 168 days+
It seems like a long time, but since I play in rotations, it gives me time to get to know all the sims at all stages of their lives. In other words, it means that a child and a teenager live a whole year sim(the four seasons) and a young adult and an adult live three whole years sim.
ROTATIONS
I play each household from Sunday 4 am to Wednesday 4 am and Wednesday 4 am to Sunday 4 am.
FAVORITE COLORS
I assign each of my Sims a favorite color to help me with clothing choices and decorating their rooms/homes. I choose the color based on whatever clothing color they’re wearing when they age up. In my eyes, they chose the color themselves so it must be their favorite.
Each Sim’s favorite color changes at each life stage (unless they choose the same one again by wearing the same color as the last age up). I do not assign favorite colors for babies. Sims get their first favorite color when aging up to a toddlers.
NAMING CONVENTIONS
I name newly born Sims based on which letter of the alphabet currently has the fewest living Sims with a first name beginning with that letter.
I begin with the letter A and go through the alphabet. If there are living Sims with names that begin with the letter A, I move to letter B, etc. until I come to the next letter of the alphabet that does not correspond to the name of a current living Sim. In the rare case where all letters are taken, I will start over and find the first letter with the fewest living Sims.
ADOPTION
Sims who try for baby three times and are unsuccessful are considered infertile and eligible to adopt. Sims may only adopt if there are eligible children in the neighborhood that have been put up for adoption or if they find a lost children in the woods (adopt by the phone).
Eligible Sims may adopt (in order of priority): -Unwanted babies -Children in the woods
UNWANTED BABIES
When an unmarried female Sim gets pregnant, I roll a number between 1-100. If she wanted to have a baby and the number is under 70, she will keep the baby and raise it herself. If she is neutral about having a baby and and the nunmer is under 50 she will also keep the baby and raise it herself. If she don't wanna a baby and the number is under 20 she will, again, keep the baby and raise it herself. If the number is over all the nunmber above (according to each situation)the baby is unwanted and are put up for adoption upon birth. Married Sims always keep their babies and attempt to raise them.
FINANCES
All Sims must pay taxes on the last day I play at them house. On the first day at them house, I add up the value of the lot + the amount of money they have. I call this number "net worth". A % of their household funds is deducted and added to the community pool. Sims must pay:
-10% of their household funds. -12% of their household funds if they are business owners. -7% of their household funds if the household consists only of retired sims. -5% if their household funds exceed 100,000 simoleons.
This money is transferred to the lot where the mayor/king lives and he will decide what to do with this money. Improvements for the community? Build a fancy house?
SCHOOL
Elementary Schools are unlocked after at least 4 baby births, a Sim be in the education career, and paying 20,000 to build the building.
High school is locked after unlocking elementary schools + building Copperdele High School.
NEW WORLDS
A new world is unlocked after a fee of 100,000 simoleons is spent to build a means of transport that will take you to that new world, the same principle applies to vacation destinations.
FREELANCE JOBS
It is unlocked for all Sims after electricity is unlocked.

Electrified Artists: In addition to electricity, to access this job the Sim must have reached level 5 in the painting skill.

Tomorrow's Style: In addition to electricity, to access this job the Sim must have reached level 5 in the photography skill. PART-TIME JOBS
Babysitter: Unlocked for Teen Sim when you have a newborn, toddler or child in the world.
Barista: Unlocked for Teen Sim when owning a restaurant in the world.

Comment Bingo: Smut Edition
Very simple rules: comment on a fic with the given tag in a particular square; repeat until you've completed 5 squares in a line
Very simple goals: encourage readers to comment on fics; encourage fandom writers to KEEP WRITING
STEPS:
Download Bingo Card HERE (png) or HERE (jpg) or HERE (pdf)
Complete the tasks on the card, marking off each as you go, until you've completed 5 in a line (vertical, horizontal, or diagonal; NO double-dipping; flame is a free space)
POST your winning card (or list your filled squares) and tag @feedthefandomfest! Glory in your victory.
The tags are drawn from AO3, but most can be adjusted to suit tumblr as well, so I say go for it.

On Memorial Day 2022, we take a look at the African American origins of the federal holiday established to remember America’s fallen soldiers.
Although May 30, 1868 is cited as the first national commemoration of Memorial Day at Arlington National Cemetery, events lead by African Americans in Charleston, South Carolina to decorate the graves of fallen Civil War soldiers occurred on May 1, 1865, less than a month after the Confederacy surrendered.
Reports of this early version of Memorial Day or “Decoration Day” as it was called, were rediscovered in the Harvard University archives in the late 1990s by historian David Blight, author of the 2018 biography Frederick Douglass: Prophet of Freedom.
To quote from history.com:
When Charleston fell and Confederate troops evacuated the badly damaged city, those freed from enslavement remained. One of the first things those emancipated men and women did was to give the fallen Union prisoners a proper burial. They exhumed the mass grave and reinterred the bodies in a new cemetery with a tall, whitewashed fence inscribed with the words: “Martyrs of the Race Course.” And then on May 1, 1865, something even more extraordinary happened. According to two reports that Blight found in The New York Tribune and The Charleston Courier, a crowd of 10,000 people, mostly freed slaves with some white missionaries, staged a parade around the race track. Three thousand Black schoolchildren carried bouquets of flowers and sang “John Brown’s Body.” Members of the famed 54th Massachusetts and other Black Union regiments were in attendance and performed double-time marches. Black ministers recited verses from the Bible. Despite the size of the gathering and newspaper coverage, the memory of this event was “suppressed by white Charlestonians in favor of their own version of the day,” Blight stated in the New York Times in 2011.
On May 31, 2010, near a reflecting pool at Hampton Park, the city of Charleston reclaimed this history by installing a plaque commemorating the site as the place where Blacks held the first Memorial Day on May 1, 1865.
During the dedication of the plaque, the city’s mayor at the time, Joe Riley, was present to celebrate the historic occasion which included a brass band and a reenactment of the Massachusetts 54th Regiment.
In 2017, the City of Charleston erected yet another sign reclaiming the history and commemorating the event:
“On May 1, 1865 a parade to honor the Union war dead took place here. The event marked the earliest celebration of what became known as “Memorial Day.” The crowd numbered in the thousands, with African American school children from newly formed Freedmen’s Schools leading the parade. They were followed by church leaders, Freedpeople, Unionists, and members of the 54th Massachusetts 34th and 104th U.S. Colored Infantries. The dead were later reinterred in Beaufort.”

Big Ups reunion show with Washer, Mulva, and Muscle at Market Hotel
Full gallery available on my website
On Saturday, October 26, 2024, Big Ups performed their first concert in New York City in five years at Market Hotel in Bushwick, Brooklyn. The post-hardcore band reunited to commemorate the tenth anniversary of their album, Eighteen Hours of Static which was put out by Dead Labour a decade ago, and was recently re-released on vinyl and on cassette with songs remixed by various artists. They also performed a warm up show at Angry Mom Records in Ithaca, NY on October 24th.
The first time I saw and captured the group was back on November 1, 2012 at Death By Audio; two years after their formation. This show took place a few days after Hurricane Sandy hit New York City and was a welcome way to experience community after such a destructive storm. Big Ups’ previous hometown performance before going on hiatus took place in January 2019 at Bowery Ballroom and photos from that concert are available on Flickr in this gallery. [Note: I originally captured BTS images, portraits, and live sets for BTRtoday which unfortunately ceased existing in March 2020]
For their reunion gig, Big Ups were joined by acts from various cities along the east coast. Up first were Muscle, a trio from Baltimore, followed by Mulva (Providence & NYC), and Washer (Philadelphia & NYC), who also performed at Big Ups’ 2019 goodbye show. During Washer’s set, Mike Quigley shared that he was “really fucking stoked” to be playing with Big Ups again. He joked that it wasn’t for them, Washer wouldn’t be a band because he saw them perform and thought “we gotta rip them off!” He also shared that Amar Lal (Big Ups’ guitarist) brought him to his first ever show at Market Hotel twenty years ago and declared, “hey, look at us now!” Lal also joined the duo briefly during one song to play guitar before Quigley switched from bass to guitar for the remainder of their set.
Big Ups’ reunion setlist was comprised of songs from their albums plus a brand new song, which was the first of their two song encore. Vocalist Joe Galarraga stated on stage that someone said the evening felt like a high school reunion. Many of us in the audience, now half-a decade older, returned to one of the few independent, all ages spaces that still remain in the town where the band began for just one night to witness them once again.

Comment Bingo: Angst Edition
Very simple rules: comment on a fic with the given tag in a particular square; repeat until you've completed 5 squares in a line
Very simple goals: encourage readers to comment on fics; encourage fandom writers to KEEP WRITING
thanks to @ihni for helping me brainstorm tags 💛 approach this one with care, friends—definitely substitute tags of your choosing if any of these are ones you prefer to avoid!
STEPS:
Download Bingo Card HERE (png) or HERE (jpg) or HERE (pdf)
Complete the tasks on the card, marking off each as you go, until you've completed 5 in a line (vertical, horizontal, or diagonal; NO double-dipping; ❤️🩹 is a free space)
POST your winning card (or list your filled squares) and tag @feedthefandomfest! Glory in your victory.
The tags are drawn from AO3, but most can be adjusted to suit tumblr as well, so I say go for it.
#comment bingo#angst bingo#feed the fandom fest#i feel bad for even posting this#hey kids do you like pain#please don't sue for emotional distress
