I’ve been wanting to do a sci-fi movie marathon in September for a long time but it’s usually my travel month. This year, with the pandemic, it doesn’t look like I’ll be going anywhere so I decided to pick this design challenge up (after a long talk with my friends). I’ve created a palette (with lots of color options) and am using an typography set I designed 2 years ago. The design will be positive negative ambiguity style, which was something I did 3 years ago for horror movies. Hope you guys will enjoy this next month’s challenge!

Saint Francis of Assisi (Italian: San Francesco d'Assisi), born Giovanni di Pietro di Bernardone, informally named as Francesco (1181/1182 – 3 October 1226),[2][5] was an Italian Roman Catholic friar, deacon and preacher. He founded the men's Order of Friars Minor, the women’s Order of Saint Clare, the Third Order of Saint Francis and the Custody of the Holy Land.[2] Francis is one of the most venerated religious figures in history.[2] Pope Gregory IX canonized Francis on 16 July 1228. Along with Saint Catherine of Siena, he was designated Patron saint of Italy. He later became associated with patronage of animals and the natural environment, and it became customary for Catholic and Anglican churches to hold ceremonies blessing animals on his feast day of 4 October.[6] In 1219, he went to Egypt in an attempt to convert the Sultan to put an end to the conflict of the Crusades.[7] By this point, the Franciscan Order had grown to such an extent that its primitive organizational structure was no longer sufficient. He returned to Italy to organize the Order. Once his community was authorized by the Pope, he withdrew increasingly from external affairs. Francis is also known for his love of the Eucharist.[8] In 1223, Francis arranged for the first Christmas live nativity scene.[9][10][11] According to Christian tradition, in 1224 he received the stigmata during the apparition of Seraphic angels in a religious ecstasy [9] making him the first recorded person in Christian history to bear the wounds of Christ's Passion.[12] He died during the evening hours of 3 October 1226, while listening to a reading he had requested of Psalm 142 (141). The Style that I used is realist portrait The materials that were used to draw it are Pencil , paper and the right feeling were the things needed to complete this drawing. I used three types of pencils : H2 , HB , B5 all of them are noticeable in the different shadings. The Paper that I used is light / rough white paper it really helped giving all the effects needed. The size of the drawing is : - Length : 16,7 Inches (42,5 Cm ) - ; - Width 12 Inches (30,5 Cm ) The drawing was plasticized , I was afraid that time and contact with air would ruin it. If requested this drawing can be acquired without any plastification. #scifimoviemarathon Day 4:: Mad Max ★★★★☆. The first time I watched this, I didn’t get it. This time, I feel like I better understood it and appreciate it more.

#scifimoviemarathon Day 3:: Into The Forest ★★★★★. This takes place in the near future when there’s a blackout that lasts for a long time and 2 girls lose their father and have to survive. It’s SO SO good! So incredibly touching and loving and shows the strength of woman. Loved it.

#scifimoviemarathon Day 2:: Starship Troopers ★★☆☆☆. This cult classic didn’t age well for me. While the propaganda videos and tech was awesome, all white lead casts felt so suffocating. It was like 90210 in space with smart bugs as enemies.

#scifimoviemarathon Day 1:: Dune. This is my first time watching this movie (and it’s long!) but really enjoyed it! Some parts felt like I was watching Twin Peaks (maybe it’s bc of David Lynch’s style) but overall, very excited about watching the remake and reading the books.
