Sorry this took so long! Have family in atm so I've only been using mobile lately. Here goes--

MASH:

Trapper

First impression: I saw MASH out of order, starting with season 4 (not because of any particular bias, my dad just wanted to introduce us kids to the show and saw the season 4 DVD boxset first at the store), so my first impression of Trapper was the whole "Trapper's gone" sequence between Radar and Hawkeye. I think kid me didn't really fully understand that there were prior seasons of MASH, so I didn't think about Trapper all that much given there's virtually no mentions of him after that episode. Ironically, I probably pictured him in my head looking more like the Elliot Gould version than Wayne Rogers, idk why because as far as I was concerned he was just an entirely offscreen presence.

Impression now: Definitely glad I ended up going back to watch the earlier seasons once I realized they did, in fact, exist because Trapper's easily become a fave. Most of it is just down to Wayne's performance more than anything, plus his chemistry with Alan Alda's Hawkeye is unmatched. I know some people wish that Wayne had stuck around for the later seasons, and in a sense I get that desire in terms of wanting more time with his character, but I also just like what we got with him and kind of worry how the later seasons might've tried to "deconstruct" his character or give him and Hawkeye more conflict or something that would've felt OOC to who we know him as.

Favorite moment: Man, this is hard, but I think I might choose the second-to-last scene of "Dr. Pierce and Mr. Hyde" where up until the general arrives and goes into the latrine, Trapper's been trying to stop Hawkeye's sleep-deprived shenanigans, but as soon as the general goes in he just steps back and watches it all play out even as Radar's still desperately trying to avert disaster. Trapper's laugh is just so joyful as he watches Hawkeye tow the latrine away with Clayton inside, and I think in some ways it's a moment that says a lot about who Trapper is without necessarily intending to be a statement piece on his character.

Idea for a story: I lowkey want to write an AU where, after the events of "Preventative Medicine", Hawkeye pens a sort of pretend letter to Trapper expressing how alone he sort of feels in his defiance of the army these days with no intent of ever sending it (sort of like Sidney's pretend letter to Freud), only for it to end up getting picked up by Radar or Klinger by accident and sent out. Receiving the letter prompts Trapper to write back, they reconnect... I don't have much of an idea of what happens after that or even if it really works, but it's something I've had turning around in my brain after reading some of @marley-manson's posts on the episode in question.

Unpopular opinion: I guess my unpopular opinion was probably expressed above, which is that I'm not sure Trapper's character would've survived intact with the shift in perspective of the later seasons. It's not that I think Wayne wouldn't have turned in a good performance, I just don't know that it could have been recognizably "Trapper" in a way.

Favorite relationship: I mean if anyone answers anything besides Hawkeye, I'd be shocked. Like I like some of his dynamics with the other characters for sure and wouldn't have minded seeing them explored more, but as far as what's on the screen his relationship with Hawkeye is just kind of the whole point.

Favorite headcanon: I definitely like the ex-Catholic headcanon I think you and some others have, as I especially think it adds an interesting layer to any of his interactions with Mulcahy. I also enjoy the headcanon that he and Charles somehow end up working at the same hospital after the war and realize they know some of the same people (and then Charles' anguish if Hawkeye ever comes for a visit to realize that "Oh God, there's two of them").

First impression: Given I started with s4 and it was all I had access to for a number of years, my impression of BJ was fairly positive. He's kind of just a Good Dude that season, and to a kid he worked well enough as someone for Hawkeye to bounce jokes off of. I sympathized with his being separated from his daughter, and I thought moments like where he tells Radar it's okay to cry were very sweet. I still think those things, actually.

Impression now: Nowadays, I find BJ a very fascinating character to look at from the lens of deconstruction (unlike Trapper). How war peels back the layers of Mr. Right to find a very flawed, very human man underneath, with all the good and ill that entails. It's funny because as I said when I first watched, I thought his and Hawk's double act worked fine, but I feel a little bad for him and Mike Farrell after having watched the early seasons because it just does not compare to the Piercintyre duo. Whereas I could easily see an AU where Hawkeye and Trapper met outside the war and became friends, I don't get that vibe with Hawk and Beej; their relationship exists purely because of the war. I can't say I necessarily like the person BJ became over time at the 4077th, but I still sympathize with what he went through and find him interesting to examine.

Favorite moment: I'm really not sure, honestly, because the later moments that I find interesting about his character aren't necessarily BJ at his best. Honestly, I think it might be that scene with Radar I mentioned above, because I think it shows that he is much more emotionally aware than the popular tumblr depiction of him.

Idea for a story: I floated this thought in the tags of a post I made about him and Frank recently, but I kind of want to know what effect there would be on the characters and relationships had BJ arrived in Korea without the Hawkeye Welcome Wagon there to meet him (like say Hawkeye doesn't arrive back in camp until that night rather than in the morning before Radar leaves to drive to Kimpo). How does this impact BJ's impressions of everybody else, and how long does it take him and Hawkeye to become friends, plus what's that one week under Frank's command look like in this version?

Unpopular opinion: I'm not really sure what counts as an unpopular opinion because the Beejgirls seem to take it as a badge of honor that he can be kind of a bad friend sometimes, but I guess what I'll say is that while Hawkeye was essential to helping BJ make it through the war, I kinda think the opposite is true in reverse. I don't think BJ needed to be some kind of yes man to Hawkeye, but man he really does love to just not be emotionally available for his best friend in the whole world and also gets his jollies out of playing mind games on him semi-regularly. And unlike writer/director Alan Alda, I don't really think Hawk deserved it most of the time.

Favorite relationship: That's a tough one, because I know it's not Hawkeye for me, but I also don't know who it is.

Favorite headcanon: I think he had one of the hardest times readjusting to life back home because he'd built it up so much in his head that any little deviation from the fantasy would be a let-down. I think he'd eventually get over this, but it would be a pretty serious stumbling block.

Hawkeye

First impression: the whole sequence with him riding up in the rickshaw and defying Frank's military precision was very funny to child me, and then the scene in the showers immediately shows you that this guy isn't just about the laughs. He has things and people he cares about, and he can be hurt, and he can work really hard to try and get the things he wants. If he doesn't succeed, then he'll just keep working hard to make everything better for the people around him. A+ character introduction, I was hooked, +1 role model and Guy I Like To Project Onto acquired.

Impression now: Honestly? Largely hasn't changed. He's still a great character, and I still aspire to have his quick and sharp wit. Obviously there's a lot to it that child me overlooked, and there's certainly moments where I don't like something he says or does, but that's part of what makes him 3-dimensional, and it's also unavoidable in a show that old.

Favorite moment: This is a frankly impossible question for this character. I can't even pick out a favorite speech. I guess I'll just say the Yankee Doodle Doctor film for managing to capture both extremes of his character in a few short minutes.

Idea for a story: My ideas for Trapper and BJ are also just ideas for Hawkeye, because that's just kind of how MASH works. Even when it's about someone else, it's about Hawkeye.

Unpopular opinion: I prefer the earlier seasons when Hawkeye's rebellions worked and achieved even little victories here and there, where his character was certainly critiqued but it wasn't like a half-hour of self-flagellation, and while the camp could at times find him irritating they also worked with him to pull off the hijinks. They're just more fun (and the satire more biting), and MASH is best when it's a comedy.

Favorite relationship: Early seasons? Trapper. Later seasons? Margaret.

Favorite headcanon: 70s Middle-Aged Vietnam War Protester Hawkeye, My Beloved

Ninth Doctor

First impression: I also watched DW out of order, so I just kind of was vaguely aware of Nine as the guy the new episodes were started with. He seemed kind of broody, wasn't really sure what else to think of him because I had almost no information. The post-series 1 RTD Era kind of almost does their best to make you forget he even was there? Like why does the Doctor-obsessed fan club in series 2 only have photos of Ten?

Impression now: He's a great Doctor, and I really should get around to finishing his series instead of picking and choosing episodes to check out (I'm just struggling to work myself up to watching the farting aliens one, I'm sorry). From what I can tell, Christopher Eccleston was going through a rough patch while making the series and had additional disagreements with the producers that contributed to him leaving early, so while I understand a lot of people wish he'd gotten more time, I also wouldn't have wanted him to keep making it while he was miserable. I'm glad he's getting to do new stories for Big Finish and seemingly enjoying it.

Favorite moment: I mean for me it has to be "Just this once, everybody lives!", Eccleston's joy there is so pure and palpable.

Idea for a story: Honestly don't really have one.

Unpopular opinion: He was the right Doctor for Rose and she the right companion for him, and it all went downhill for that duo after he regenerated. Although idk if that's actually an unpopular opinion amongst Nine fans. Oh, here's an unpopular opinion for those who like Nine: the way he treated Mickey was cruel and there was no real reason for it, and he should have apologized.

Favorite relationship: It kind of has to be Rose by default, right? Although I'm to this day fascinated by whatever he and Jack had going on...

Favorite headcanon: I don't really have one of these, either. Unless we're talking about the AU in my head where everything's the same except he and Rose aren't awful to Mickey for literally no reason...

Tenth Doctor

First impression: Again, because I watched out of order, Ten was my second Doctor (after watching series 5 and 6 with Eleven), but the friend who introduced me to the show did not really care for Rose and had me start on "The Runaway Bride" instead. I then chose to skip to the rest of Donna's episodes since I was aware she became a full-time companion later and had a great time. He was kind of a bit too broody at times for my taste, but Donna was there to keep it from dragging out. He could be hypocritical, but it was an interesting and expected flaw for a character that old and varied, and I'd already grown to expect the Doctor to be deep in the moral ambiguity. He was never my favorite, but I found series 4 enjoyable (until the end, anyway).

Impression now: Hoo boy, is this one a doozy. Well, first off, I still really enjoy Ten and Donna's episodes. But it's all kind of downhill from there. After finishing Donna's episodes and the specials, I went back to series 3 with Martha. And because I love Martha... I can't really stand Ten for that entire series. It's the Mickey problem x3000. And because I knew what an awful person he was going to be to Martha, I couldn't ever get into enjoying him and Rose in series 2 when I went back to watch that knowing what it all was leading to. And also because they were both treating Mickey like crap still during it. I think that Ten is a fascinating character with a lot of depth and darkness to him that the narrative is sorta aware of but doesn't want to explore meaningfully enough until basically the last minute in the specials. There's a lot of cut moments and storylines that could have made this better and at least left me appreciating what RTD was trying to do, but... they're cut. So what we're left with is a guy who's mean to like half of his friends for very little cause (and when that half is made up of two Black characters and one queer character while the other half are all white and straight), and who causes most of his own problems (his and Rose's attitudes leading to Queen Victoria forming Torchwood -> Torchwood finds the breach at Canary Wharf and makes it bigger -> the Doctor and Rose have to intervene and get separated VS. the Doctor deposes Harriet Jones -> the Master steps into the power vacuum caused by Ten changing the timeline -> The Year That Never Was happens and puts Martha, her family, and Jack all through hell Fight!), and who very rarely gets called out on most of this in a way that sticks.

Favorite moment: Can't think of a specific one right now, but it probably involves Donna somehow.

Idea for a story: I wrote a ton of Ten/Donna stories a number of years back and kind of burned myself out on it (plus the general negativity of RTD fans towards the newer eras killed some of my enjoyment of that era in reverse), but maybe I'll get around to writing more for them someday. Or maybe just something where Martha gets to be awesome instead.

Unpopular opinion: He and "Fourteen" are the same guy, and RTD will never convince me otherwise.

Favorite relationship: Donna's the only person I can really tolerate him with, her and Wilf really, so that seems to be my answer. Good thing they're in the upcoming specials! All joking aside, whether you see it as platonic or romantic, he and Donna just had the best dynamic, and in RTD's own words it was the most "equal" partnership the Tenth Doctor had. Which just makes me feel bad for Rose and Martha, honestly, but... it definitely comes across that way in the show to me.

Favorite headcanon: I think he often knows his behavior is in the wrong but is one of those people who refuses to apologize for anything and instead just withdraws from the people he hurt to punish himself... which is again sorta an interesting character choice but unaddressed or uncritiqued just makes me think he kind of deserves to be alone, yeah.

FMA

Alphonse

First impression: First read this series in high school, so it was probably "Wow, this guy and his brother are so cool, but their story's so sad! I hope they get their bodies back!"

Impression now: Wow, this guy and his brother are so cool, and they've gone through some really sad stuff! I'm so glad they got their bodies (mostly) back!" For Al specifically, he's so great. Both the nicest but the sassiest mf you will ever meet. His and Ed's brotherhood is Best of All Time, even and especially when he's being a little shit to his big bro.

Favorite moment: Nothing makes me laugh harder when the Elric Bros are telling Mustang to leave the forest where Gluttony is, because you expect it from Ed but Al's just so mean to Roy there, it's hysterical.

Idea for a story: Nothing comes to mind at the moment because I just love the original story so much it's hard to know what I'd add!

Unpopular opinion: I don't like Al/Mei and kinda find Mei's reasons for switching her crush from one brother to the other to be extremely shallow. I'd prefer if they got to know each other better as they grew up but just remained friends.

Favorite relationship: If the answer to this is anything but Ed (and vice versa) it's Wrong.

Favorite headcanon: I think Al both loves and resents Ed for trying to take on so much as the older brother.

So yeah, this one is probably a bit all over the place, and I'm fairly certain we won't see eye-to-eye on everything here, but I hope you find my answers interesting at least!

lol I didn't even realize this bingo post going around was an ask meme until I saw your tag.

I'll do both. Why not?

You say I love you but I cannot stay

I love Sometimes You Hear the Bullet. And I was haunted by the idea that Hawkeye would write an introduction to Tommy's book and make sure it got published. And because I'm me, I wanted to write the letters Hawkeye would write. And then I realized BJ would be a complete weirdo about Hawkeye having other friends. Even early on in my hunnihawk days, I was into BJ being really, really weird about it (not that this is hunnihawk - it's just BJ being obsessed with Hawkeye and not understanding boundaries). And BJ *would* be so fucked up about learning how traumatized Hawkeye is/should be, that he would freak out and Hawkeye would have to comfort him. Thinking about this now I almost want to write it again but different.

The problem with starting halfway through

I don't entirely remember where this all started, but I had a lot of feelings. I had already written Hawkeye goes to California, and I was obsessing over every little line where BJ flirts with Hawkeye, and I wanted BJ to think it was a good idea to hook up as the war was ending. This line in particular sunk it's teeth into my brain:

"I know this is an ending and not the start of something, and I wish maybe we could've started something sooner, but I want to know. I want to know what I'm missing"

Specifically because this is a terrible fucking idea and I've been there. But I was also just listening to Tegan and Sara's album Hey, I'm Just Like You, and the song Keep Them Close 'Cause They Will Fuck You Too invaded my brain and combined with my MASH brainrot and the hunnihawk and spewed out this idea of how they could keep fucking up at being together. I needed them to have a really poorly thought out last hookup that ate at BJ until he pursued something more, while Hawkeye convinced himself BJ was happy. And then I needed everyone to be gay and fell in love with gay Peg who gives BJ permission to love Hawkeye but also breaks the fuck out of BJ's heart. And I'm gonna take any chance I get to write love letters and fell hard for the idea of Hawkeye pretending to fish but just reading letters from everyone from the 4077.

Oh, and I was having thoughts and feelings about Hawkeye's inconsistency around messing around with married people.

I also wanted to fix BJ Goes to Maine (which I have a soft spot for, but BJ is too into his family and California to go to Maine, and he'd have to be 100% sure of Hawkeye, which he does not have the confidence for).

I promise I will get back to this series because honestly, I have outlines for several more fics. Even though my brain wants to give them a happy ending, none of the stories I've started give them that (although I have a self-indulgent little Peg/Miriam (my OFC) happily ever after planned because sapphic joy). Just lots and lots of misunderstandings and complication.

In the end, it's a story of two people who have wildly different interpretations of what point of the relationship they're in, and they never really got a start, so how can they have a beginning? And did they start at the end? Keep Them Close 'Cause They Will Fuck You Too is a post-breakup song that I decided to apply to a ship I thought I wanted to give a happy ending, so we'll see what happens.

Caveat to everything I've said here: my memory is shitty, and I probably talked about everything over on discord, but I'd have to track down late night conversations and rants from over a year ago to make sure I got everything.

I enjoyed thinking about this and wow do I wish my wrist wasn't as shitty because I feel like writing things down on paper but it is so fucking annoying to hold a pen with my wrist brace. Maybe I'll type some things. Also, this introspection reminded me how much I like to slowly rotate BJ as I consider what a hot mess he is and how much he can manage to hurt the people around him while he flails figuring himself out.

Trans Beetlejuice headcannons? :3c

these are near and dear to my heart, so fuck yeah!

- lawrence beetlejuice shoggoth was born as lauren beetejuice shoggoth

- beej comes out to juno after he’s about 14 in breather years. this does not go well at all, and is one of the huge points of contention between them. (the only reason she calls him lawrence in front of the maitlands and deetzs is because it would make her look stupid, as bj passes so well.)

- bj comes out to lydia first, sometime after he returns from the netherworld after he leaves after the whole killing juno thing. in return, lydia comes out to him as trans. (he definitely cries a tiny bit and vows to Destroy any that misgender his sister bffff)

- (also just want to slip this in since i gave bj’s full name pre & post transition - lydia anne deetz was born logan andrew deetz)

- beej (accidentally) comes out to the maitlands next, as they walk in on him without a shirt on and see the surgery scars. (i don’t know how a demon would get top surgery, but i’m assuming the netherworld would have an equivalent, as i see it more like the cartoonverse where the netherworld is an Actual Liveable Society)

- they both take it in stride, and assure him nothing will change between the 3 of them. (except it does, because they all have the hots for each other, and end up in a relationship. sorry, i don’t make the rules, that’s just How It Is)

- he eventually tells charles and delia once he gets a bit more comfortable, and they both thank him for telling them.

- charles is unfazed due to having experience with lydia, and delia had some trans friends growing up, and so knows how big this is for him to be telling them.

- after coming out to everyone, beej gets a lot more relaxed with his clothing style, and starts sleeping shirtless again, seeing as everyone Knows.

- beetlejuice makes really stupid jokes when giving himself t-shots. (again, don’t think this would technically work because he’s Dead, but eh) he has many dumb names for t, and basically just starts memeing whenever he gives himself the shot.

- even though he’s a shape shifting demon, he still gets bad dysphoria days.

- at first, it’s usually lydia who helps him through these, and they usually end up cuddled together under a bunch of blankets, surrounded by snacks, watching crappy horror movies.

- once he starts dating the maitlands, they occasionally join the pile. however, they know that lydia understands it a bit more, and they make sure to give them Quality Time.

- the maitlands have their own ways of helping bj with bad days, though. they make sure to call him more masculine pet names, and they’ll lay in bed with him and compliment him on his masculine features when it’s too bad for him to even feel like getting out of bed.

- delia and charles usually leave it up to lydia and the maitlands in these days. however, they do tend to call him “mr. juice” on these days, and delia will compliment what he’s wearing wnd how masculine it is. (it may seem trivial/kinda stupid, but he Appreciates it a lot.)

- even though they’re shitty days, he really appreciates what everyone is doing for him.

- on really good days, he’ll show photos of him growing up. lydia usually joins in, and they’ll laugh at themselves pre-transition.

- pride is not ready for these two. they’ve definitely gone Full Feral at a bunch of parades, and they certainly will fight and transphobe/homophobe they come across.

- someone found out about lydia being trans, and tried to blackmail her. let’s just say beetlejuice gave the kid a night they’ll never forget. the kid was sadly still alive the next day, although they did apologize to lydia and never mentioned it again.

- bj has definitely run around the house yelling “WHERE’S MY DICK” as loud as he can whenever he misplaces his packer.

- edit: credit to the person who submitted the ask, @rustybutterknife , for this amazing edition: beetlejuice definitely has bad dragon packers. (if you don’t know what they are, google them at your own risk.)

- beej doesn’t have bottom surgery (yet) because he’s just a bit,,,, iffy about it, and he doesn’t typically have a huge amount of bottom dysphoria, and so just hasn’t gotten it.

- pride gear everywhere year round. however, the house is basically converted into one big conglomeration of pride flags during the month of june.

- at the end of the day, he couldn’t be happier. he has a family that loves and supports him, and would have his back when juno (eventually) came back.

i really hope you like them! some of these were based off of my experiences, so i hope you don’t mind lol. (i may try and make some doodles based off of these soon, but i have to see if i have time rip.)

Fandoms You Write For: At present, pretty much exclusively Star Wars; about 95% Rogue One with occasional excursions into original trilogy territory. I’ve also done one or two pieces based on the sequel trilogy and precisely one (In the holding pen, very angsty) set at the end of the prequels.

I’ve also written a single mid-length chapter fic for the film “Solo quiero caminar”, which for anyone who hasn’t seen it is a wonderful feminist heist movie and well worth checking out.

In the past, I’ve also written a bit for the MCU, for The Town, and, back in 2012 when I first got started, for a random collection of characters played by Jeremy Renner.

Where You Post: AO3. In the long-ago past (i.e. 2012!) also on a members-only Renner fandom tumblr the name of which I can’t even remember, which is embarrassing!

Favourite Story You Wrote: Very, very hard to choose! Which is actually incredibly pleasing, as it means I’ve begun to be more confident of my writing and more able to see what worked about a story, rather than just focussing on what didn’t.

Honestly, I don’t think I have a single favourite, though. I have favourites, plural, but even those shift with time. I’m very fond of my Shane AU, A rider comes to the valley, and of some of my single-character one-shots. The latter are often on the sad side (e.g. The mask, Unacceptable, The last dancer, The first time) and perhaps because of that they don’t get as much love, but they mean a lot to me.

Story You Were Nervous to Post: Agent. It’s untidy from a structural pov, I don’t like the way it ends, and much of the content, especially the opening chapter, is extremely dark. It was also written in anger, as a reaction to one of the very few pieces of fic I have ever truly despised (a grossly salacious “all women want to be raped” story full of utterly creepy racist stereotypes), and I’m not entirely sure that’s such a great place to start.

How Do You Choose Your Titles: Mostly they just kind of come to me (I know how daft that sounds, sorry!). I’ve noticed my titles tend to be fairly short; two or three words, even sometimes just a single word, that either come direct from the story or function like a descriptive hint of the contents. I think the only one I’ve really struggled with was for the long chapter fic In a dark time, the eye begins to see, which had the initial working title “Artist!Cassian smut”! I spent ages going through books about creativity, looking for a quote that expressed something of the idea that an artist must be truthful to the larger world as well as their personal vision.

Do You Outline? A bit, if it’s going to be a long story. I’m more of a note-taker than a full-blown planner, though. If I’ve jotted down the basic arc, key plot points, and what the set-piece scenes are, that feels about right. Having too much pre-set structure seems to dam the flow for me.

Complete: On AO3, 168 works. 155 Star Wars and 13 in other fandoms.

In-Progress: Counting only works with significant word counts, right now:

· The city and the sea, a sequel to By stardust and moonlight.

· A friendly game (cricket match AU, set in the Guau-guau ‘verse)

· The bargain of liberty (original novel, alternative C16th setting with magic and a different balance of power across the world as a result)

· Various short one-shots. E.g. I’ve made some small headway on a one-shot about Cassian’s relationship with Draven, on another about Jyn and Saw discussing her parents, and on one told in the form of love letters – this last has stalled because it has no plot!

· Various attempts to re-write my longer fanfics into original stories by changing certain plot points, the main McGuffin, character names and place names, etc.

Coming Soon/Not Yet Started:

Don’t ask! I have a list of “stuff I’d like to do sometime” almost as long as my arm.

I really want to do a one-shot of Leia and Jyn relaxing at some kind of health club, swimming and pampering themselves a bit. And another Leia and Jyn story where Leia hides in a ‘fresher on Home One to cry when things finally get too much for her and Jyn finds her there.

I’ve had an idea on the backburner for ages of a fantasy story where Cassian is trapped among the Sidhe when he has to eat their food while undercover; mysterious Blacksmith Kay and forest daughter Jyn, and their animal allies, go into The Land Under The Hill to try and rescue him.

Someday I’ll have another bash at the King Arthur/Star Wars AU. And the LOTR AU.

But my main energy at the moment needs to stay on The city and the sea and The bargain of liberty.

Do You Accept Prompts: Generally not. I’ve had to accept I don’t really respond well to them.

Upcoming Story You Are Most Excited to Write: The city and the sea. I’m part way through chapter 3 in draft but I don’t want to start posting it until I’m a bit further on in the story and have really got into the swing of things.

2018 Fic Review Meme

Total number of posted stories in 2018: 23 - including Sold to the Law. Which is more than I managed in 2017, which was completely eaten by slavefic, haha.

Total word count: 468k - a really good year, even though I was pretty depressed fandom-wise for much of it, and then December has just really been Anxiety for some reason. But I’m so so ready now to throw myself fully into whatever inspiration all those chains will bring this year.

Fandoms written in: American Gods (TV), Love Nikki and 3 different Les Mis canons (the Brick, Dallas and BBC 2018).

Fandoms I wouldn’t have expected to write this year: Love Nikki, but then most of the fandoms I offer/ask for for Yuletide are a surprise, because I’m monofannish enough these days that there are usually just 2-3 new things per year I get interested in enough to want to write or read. And I guess Les Mis 2018 was a surprise too given that it hadn’t even aired ahaha - but sometimes you just need Toulon bjs to cheer yourself up.

Looking back, did you write more fic than you thought you would this year, less, or about what you’d predicted? Around 130k of fic, which is probably less than I thought I would write this year, but turned out to be a nice and sustainable amount.

What’s your own favorite story of the year? Sold to the Law. Again. But there’s just something to a story of that length - sometimes you just need to invest 100k words into a slow build of your Sad Old Men relationship to then wring all the emotions from it, and I definitely got all the emotional payout from it that I’d hoped for. <3

My best story of this year: Masochism Sanctified I think, because that was really different in how Javert is so distant and detached as a narrator, but it actually came together in just the way I’d hoped it would.

My most popular story of this year: Including the slavefic, Sold to the Law, which isn’t really a surprise because that’s 2 years worth of chapters. /o\ Excluding the slavefic, it’s The Price of Purity - wow, that is a surprise. I feel like the audience for handwavey canon era cock cages is quite small, but apparently I’m wrong. :D (But it also has the 2 chapter bonus.)

Story of mine most under-appreciated by the universe, in my opinion: Probably Reasonable Men but for understandable reasons, because it’s Thénardier/Valjean, haha.

Most fun story to write: No Strangers - Dallas handcuffed-together bed sharing tropey fic that was so much fun to write! And it was a different setting which was also fun to experiment with! I love that Dallas in general just lets you experiment with whatever you want, and this time it was a dystopian near-future setting, seen from the more domestic angle of Javert’s apartment.

Sexiest story/story with the single sexiest moment: I cannot decide between Masochism Sanctified and The Tricks of a Bagnard. Candle object insertion versus enemas and slapping and washing Valjean’s mouth with soap? I couldn’t possibly choose. /o\ But I’m so grateful for all the exchanges this year with all these amazing porny prompts. <3

Hardest story to write: Hmmmm. Probably Sir . Mainly because the entire premise is so inherently OOC, but I had been craving OOC BDSM romance Dallas Valvert for months by that point, so that was the only way to get it out of my system. And it was fun writing this, just way more work than usual to get the annoying voice in my brain to shut up.

Did you take any writing risks this year? The Love Nikki fic Feifan Tentacle Party probably was, because it’s so unlike what I usually write, and I know so little Shade lore yet. But having so little to go by is really freeing, especially since I was pretty sure that shadow wasn’t going to judge my entire worth as a person based on a fun little porny treat (not that I think anyone really does that, but my brain loves doing that to me), and sometimes writing is just FUN if you can play loose with the silly little canon you love.

Do you have any fanfic or profic goals for the New Year? I went with a 300k goal for Get Your Words Out last year which I hit easily, so this year I went with 350k. If I really push myself I should probably be able to do 500k - and by ‘push myself’ I mean drown in a wave of BBC-induced chains cravings and write another slavefic epic, ahaha. (More likely than you might think; the trailers alone have already created two fully-fledged scenarios in my head. /o\)

John Cena Is Duke Nukem

Well I've put the tag and hope nobody minds this. But this is me talking about this I made on Deviantart. It's about this movie news and other things where I talk about some personal opinions. Including looked yeah still have YouTube which is the same video I linked on here.

I wanna say that is not click bait and want to make that clear as possible. Yet basically okay click bait can mean other things. But it's basically the story of this. Also the idea to get people's attention and yeah I would want people to notice.

Yet this is something I've been wanting to make two nights ago or basically midnight well the night some hours ago when I saw this video released. Including it was at 11 I think or whatever.

The news and this is a Hybrid Network video and I did watch well the part about this only from Chris Wong Swenson's video when commercials were on for Riverdale tonight.

But the news being John Cena and this isn't or....is it official I'm sorry don't know or just basically he's in talks to be playing Duke Nukem in a while Duke Nukem movie. Being made by Platinum Dunes. The company that Michael Bay owns and that Bay is producing so I just checked the description of the video I linked yeah producing.

Now let me talk about this and I've been wanting to talk about. Including I've been thinking of making a post about me posting news and talking about video game movie related news. Because while we have comic book movies, Kaiju films, and all sorts of other crap being shared about news and people talking about them whether what your opinion is.

Me talking about video game movie news seem to be a thing I seem to take quite a interest in. Yeah I haven't seen the latest Tomb Raider trailer I'm sorry. Or even talking about.

But back to the topic let's talk about the actor. I honestly like John Cena. He seems like a cool guy and a good actor. Depends on what work he's in. I did enjoy him in Ferdinand. But that's not really the best comparison. Yet it seems like people don't mind him. Including I don't think the Fred movies should count considering they aren't considered well might seem weird to mention them.

But him as Duke Nukem. Including to anyone who doesn't know who Duke Nukem is. From my mindset he's basically one of the bigger classic first person shooter characters.

Honestly I keep thinking this trio of first person shooter mascots.

BJ Blazkowicz from Wolfenstein.

Doomguy from Doom.

Duke Nukem from well Duke Nukem.

Including being I think this might be the right word since people use it an arch type of action heroes and well the video explains I forgot. Including he's voiced by the ever so lovely John St. John with his beautiful voice was gonna say beautiful before lovely.

But also the idea John St. John was the original voice for Big The Cat and other Sonic characters. Yet still lovely.

Yet one comparison had to put I in the first mention of comparison. But this one comparison that ends. Is while Wolfenstein and Doom have had amazing modern reboots.

Duke Nukem has not and his own last game despite some neat stuff was not well loved. Including for some fucking reason Gearbox Software has decided to keep him instead of you know giving him the fuck probably to ID Software okay Bethesda was the first thing I wanted to say. Really I just keep seeing those three as this very famous trio.

While Wolfenstein and Doom are basically the games that truly defined the first person shooter genre. I always keep imagining Duke being in there considering their time eras.

One fights Nazis(BJ), one fights demons(Doomguy), and the other fights aliens(Duke) so it's kind of come full circle in a way.

I'm sorry to be off topic but John Cena he's a cool casting choice. I don't mind it honestly. Yet it's surprising as all fuck or just.....I've had this casting idea for Duke if he had a movie or an actor.

Considering I had casting ideas for BJ and Doomguy. I wanna share them.

John Cena as BJ. Basically this came from seeing fan castings by people. I've haven't played the games yet. Meaning I haven't made a personal connection by playing them yet where I feel okay that actor is a good choice.

I basically went with John Cena considering fans kept casting him and also the looks of BJ mainly from the newest games.

Tom Hardy as Doomguy/Doomslayer. This one is interesting because as a fan of Doom I wanted to make sure which actor would fit.

Also the idea I wanted to cast someone who's face looks similar in a way as he looked in the original Doom games and even the very faithful and amazing recreation of the Doomguy in Quake Champions where you can play with that look.

Including Tom's work in Mad Max Fury Road where he did had some lines. But didn't talk much and that action basically giving him more of a reason to have him casted as Doomguy/Doomslayer.

Chris Evans as Duke Nukem. Yes that casting of mine is real. Including I talked to myself about it. Along with just the reactions or just people might be surprised and make jokes how Chris Evans went from Captain America to Duke Nukem who's personalities are very different and might clash with one of another.

Also jokes of Duke having a beard.

I'm sorry yet yeah it's some good casting I don't mind.

Almost was gonna talk about the games. But back to the topic the company that this will be producing this movie is Platinum Dunes which is ran by Michael Bay.

I'll be honest and I've talked about this before. I really mainly dislikes Michael Bay's work and someone commented on my profile on Deviantart.

Mainly I dislike his Transformers films greatly.

But consider how his films are and just....the memes I think just you know. It honestly fits with Duke Nukem actually. You have explosions, action, babes, aliens, and all kinds of other crap. Yet would the action be shot well that's another fucking point I would be concerned about. Well it's not Transformers but still man.

But considering Bay and how he is with films. Including noticing his tropes it kind of works perfectly or just....it's just my dislike towards Bay that makes me want him away. Yet considering what I've seen of the Duke Nukem series I could tell why it's at Platinum Dunes instead of some where else.

Basically I wanted to talk about this. Including I have been thinking of checking out some Duke Nukem games. Mainly Duke Nukem 3D remastered for PS4. But also I would honestly like it if a new game was released a reboot basically like the other first person shooters. Where it captures the spirit of the original games but puts a modern take on it.

Despite what some people might think basically some SJW folks. Considering how Duke is with ladies or just.....it's interesting. Yet I've only watched some parts of Duke Nukem Forever till just I think I stopped watching when the spoilers shrinking part was getting through I forgot.

Also the fun idea of Duke being in Quake Champions despite I don't play the game. But him with those other icons of first person shooter gaming. Seriously Bethesda with how their games are going. Despite some jokes or just no offense I'm just fucking glad they aren't like EA and supposedly Activision but EA is worse.

Seriously sucks the Titanfall franchise and Respawn Entertainment didn't go with them. Yet yeah seriously after Doom 2016 my liking and respect towards Bethesda is mainly because of that.

I'm rambling ether then that wanted to talk about and share the news.
