Postcards from Seattle: Seeing the Sky is Good ⛅️ Seriously, y’all… we have worked together from home for ten years but we’ve always been able to go take a walk or a drive or go galavanting around downtown to break up the scenery and the routine of daily life. Starved for variety, our walk down the block with the Shibakidz resulted in us becoming fascinated (more so than usual) with the Spring buds breaking out on the trees and the way the sunlight made shadows on the ground. We do not exaggerate even a little bit when we tell you we both stood on this spot with our faces turned toward the brilliant blue sky and sparkling sunlight for long enough that a driver stopped their car and stared at us. 😂 Looks like we’re going to have to put some longer walks into our routine and move some of the studio work into the back patio space… it’s only about 15’x15’ but it should do nicely. Postcards from Seattle✨We returned home from our last trip just in time to see the mock orange blooming everywhere! This particular one is the one we visit every year and in one of our favorite parks. This year, however, we had a BIG surprise when we drove down our alley and found two of them had sprung up amongst the berry brambles on one side and along the fence line on the other. Apparently they followed us home? Whatever the case, the blossoms are brilliant bursts or white and the scent is sweet and sharp without being cloying… in fact, we think they smell like sweet-tart candies. Postcards from Seattle✨Driving into downtown last night to pick up dinner from our favorite restaurant in the International District. The sun was setting and the city looked like a painting. The light playing on the buildings and the clouds was awe inspiring. We took photos of everything all the way into the restaurant. Buildings we have driven by for nearly 30 years held us enthralled by the way the light gave them new life in our eyes. Postcards from Seattle✨It was another glorious Spring day and we did not waste a minute of it. There was a vigorous walk through one of our favorite local parks, a nap, and some prep for business in the month ahead. These stunning little flowers burst out at us when we were at the top of the last hill on our walk and gave us the perfect excuse to stop and catch our breath. Postcards from Seattle✨Today was one of those gems where we’ve been (mostly) inside for a couple of days listening to the pouring rain and we’re juuuust about ready to start wishing for some sunshine then BAM!💥Sunshine. It was even pretty warm. So we took a stroll down by the waterfront through Myrtle Edwards and Elliott Bay Parks. Looking back toward home in West Seattle, the clouds were putting on a show with the sun momentarily hiding behind them. Once again, Seattle was dark and moody and glamorous… until the sun came back out a couple of minutes later and we were shedding layers.
