Q: what is febuwhump?

A: febuwhump is a prompt challenge during february, in which creators try to fill one prompt a day, as guided by the official prompt list, in whatever creative way they wish

A: it’s when you put a character in emotional or physical hurt. can be to any extent

A: i’m not gonna come to your home and make you create whump, no. ‘whump’ is in the title of the event and it’s a whump-centric challenge but if that’s not inspiring to you or going to help you be creative then forget it and do what works best for you. challenge yourself how you want to and let febuwhump be the guide, not the law

Q: how do i win febuwhump?

A: officially, you can become a completionist by producing or posting 29 unique whump-themed works over the 29 days of february. you do not have to aim to win febuwhump if you don’t want to, and if you are not aiming to win, you do not have to follow all the rules, because at that point who cares

Q: can the 29 unique works be chapters to one fic?

A: yes

Q: can the 29 unique works be in any order?

A: no, please follow the day order as given to the best of your ability

Q: can the 29 unique works actually be less than 29 unique works because i blend a bunch of prompts together for one day or something else along these lines that directly contradicts the explained definition of febuwhump?

A: no

Q: can i complete febuwhump in tandem with other events?

A: yeah like what do i care, of course you can

A: there will be a google forms link made available during the month of february. you have until march 3rd to fill it in

Q: how do i prove that i’ve won?

A: you don’t have to. this is an honour system and if you fill out the form, i will believe you. however, there will be a completionist badge you can use to post with your masterlist to show everyone else that you’ve won

Q: what are the exact requirements for the hall of fame?

A: the exact requirements are as follows:

you must have completed 29 sections/chapters/works/projects etc. inspired by 29 unique prompts and posted/produced them over the 29 days of february

you may combine prompts so long as there are still 29 unique prompts for 29 sections/works

this means that you can combine a core prompt and an alt prompt

or two core prompts, so long as an alt prompt replaces one of them

you must inform the blog by the 3rd of march that you completed febuwhump or your name will not feature in the hall of fame.

Q: how do i add my fics to the archiveofourown.org collection?

A: the ao3 collection will be open from february 1st to compile all ao3 works. you do not have to have completed all 29 days of febuwhump to submit - any and all febuwhump works are welcome there, but the cut off date is march 5th - the collection will be closed from then.

you can add fics as you’re posting or after they’ve been posted by using the ‘collection’ bar on the creation page. all you have to do is type in the name of the collection: febuwhump_2024. do not wait for the drop down menu, it will not show the name. press post and it will be included in the collection.

Hurrah!! I've made it FOUR YEARS OF UNINTERRUPTED FIC RECS every SINGLE Friday!! It's something I'm super proud of for this blog, and I couldn't do it without you guys!!

For anyone who is new to my blog, every SINGLE Friday I post up 5 fics recently added to either my Marked for Later list or my Bookmarks, or as a way to promote new fics suggested to me by authors as a Signal Boosted fic! I haven't missed a single Friday since its inception in 2019, and it's still going strong!! He calls out the press for the lack of rigurosity when writing the news about the rebozo.

He talks about how now that his fame has grown, the attacks have too.

When asked "why is Tenoch a sexual offender and predator?" she replies "because he is, why else?"

When asked if Tenoch had sexually assaulted her, she replies "yes, and many more".

She says that Poder Prieto protects the sexual offender and predator Tenoch Huerta. She also states they went to look for her at a concert so there wouldn't be any polemics because of his Marvel movie (and she tags Marvel Latam).

She also tells Maya Zapata directly "I'm not playing".

in these screenshots we learn that she might have accused tenoch of stealthing because a woman called raciel rivas out and tenoch dismissed it, saying he does it too. she had this message since june 12th, and if you remember, she issued her statement on june 15th.

Raciel Rivas denies what MER said, therefore, tenoch being there saying those things never happened either.

A few comments about it:

So far, she hasn't been able to prove that he has sexually assaulted, or r*ped a woman.

She has blocked most of tenoch's fans and journalists who approached her to talk about the topic.

Statements made by her about her mental health have resurfaced (here).

A lot of people from Oaxaca have spoken up about what happened there and her connection to murat, she blocks them.

For those of you who are curious about this, here’s all the data I gathered for the counter I made:

Far Cry was first introduced as a demo at E3 2002, which started on May 22, and was released 671 days later, on March 23, 2004.

Far Cry Instincts was announced only 15 days after the release of Far Cry, on April 7, 2004, and came out 538 days after that, on September 27, 2005.

Far Cry Instincts: Evolution and Far Cry Instincts: Predator were announced and released together, on January 11, 2006, so 106 days after Far Cry Instincts came out, and on March 28, 2006, so 76 days after their announcement.

Far Cry Vengeance was announced 128 days after that, on August 3, 2006, and it took 131 more days for it to come out, on December 12, 2006.

Far Cry 2 was announced on July 19, 2007, 219 days after the release of Vengeance, and came out 460 days later, on October 21, 2008.

Far Cry 3 was announced at E3 2011 during the Ubisoft conference on June 7, so 959 days after the release of its predecessor, which is the longest time so far! Then, it came out 541 days later, on November 29, 2012.

Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon was announced 123 days later, on April 1st, 2013 (genius move), and released only 29 days after that, on April 30, 2013.

Far Cry 4 was officially revealed on social media on May 15, 2014, 380 days after Blood Dragon became available, and came out on November 18, 2014, 187 days later.

Far Cry Primal was announced 322 days after that with a trailer on October 6, 2015, and it took 140 more days for it to come out, on February 23, 2016.

Far Cry 5 was first introduced with a series of teaser trailers posted on May 22, 2017, so 454 days after Primal, and finally came out 309 days later, on March 27, 2018.

Far Cry New Dawn was revealed via a short video posted on social media on December 5, 2018, 253 days after the release of its predecessor, and was available only 72 days later, on February 15, 2019.

Far Cry 6 was officially introduced on July 10, 2020, shortly before the Ubisoft Forward livestream and 511 days after New Dawn came out. The game was initially scheduled to come out in February but had to be delayed, partly because of the pandemic, and was eventually released on October 7, 2021, 454 days after its announcement.

And we all know who loves to make perilla oil makguksu! Jk mentioned his love of the dish during his March 23, 2023 live.

And he made it on his April 23, 2023, live, then posted the recipe on Weverse.

Jk was subsequently asked about his perilla oil makguksu recipe during his Weverse interview on July 6, 2023. In his interview, he mentioned he had made it three times.

And we know Tae loves makguksu, as he’s mentioned his fondness for the dish in Jinny’s Kitchen, In the Soop: Friendcation and also shared on Weverse it was his lunch meal on February 7, 2022 (more extensive recap of these moments is below). We also know Tae has had Jk’s perilla oil makguksu at least two of the three times Jk has mentioned cooking it. On May 29, 2023, Tae shared on Weverse that he had called Jk to cook it “tomorrow” (May 30). He flew out for an overseas schedule in France the day after that meetup, on May 31, 2023.

And he had followed this comment up by saying he had eaten Jk’s perilla oil makguksu twice, and they were in his top five makguksu favorites.

when I was very young my mother told me "they're going to try and teach you that we came from monkeys but that's not true and you shouldn't listen to them because we were made from god" and she was my mom and I was like 7, so I pretty much just went "okay, noted, anyway"

anyway like 2 years later evolution comes up in class and one of my classmates goes "is this the we evolved from monkeys thing?"

and I'm on Red Alert. this is what my mom told me about!

the teacher replies, "well, we share a common ancestor, but we didn't evolve directly from apes. if you go back way before apes or people existed, you'll find a different third thing we both came from. we know this because of things like fossils"

and I was like whoo! dodged a bullet there, good thing my 4th grade science class isn't trying to teach us we came from monkeys and instead figured stuff out using fossils and taught us that instead :)

Two Georgia election workers have reached a settlement in their defamation lawsuit against a Missouri-based website that falsely accused them of fraud in the 2020 presidential election

ATLANTA -- Two Georgia election workers have reached a settlement in their defamation lawsuit against a Missouri-based conservative website that falsely accused them of fraud in the 2020 presidential election, according to a court filing earlier this week.

The lawsuit against The Gateway Pundit, its owner Jim Hoft and his brother Joe Hoft “has been resolved to the mutual satisfaction of the parties through a fair and reasonable settlement,” lawyers for Ruby Freeman and Wandrea “Shaye” Moss said Friday.

Monday's filing in St. Louis City Circuit Court didn't give any terms of the settlement, but said actions under the agreement are supposed to be completed by March 29. Both sides asked a judge to postpone the case until then, when they expect to request a dismissal.

Lawyers for Hoft did not immediately respond to an email seeking comment.

Nearly 70 articles cited as defamatory in the lawsuit were no longer available Friday on The Gateway Pundit website, The Associated Press found.

The company that owns The Gateway Pundit filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy reorganization, but a judge dismissed the case in July, finding the company was solvent and had filed the suit in bad faith in an effort to frustrate the lawsuit by Freeman and Moss.

Freeman and Moss, who were Fulton County election workers, sued over The Gateway Pundit's repeated claims that the mother-and-daughter pair introduced suitcases of illegal ballots while working as ballot counters at the State Farm Arena in Atlanta in November 2020.

Freeman and Moss also sued others, including including former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani and One America News Network, saying they pushed Donald Trump’s lies about the election being stolen, which led to death threats that made them fear for their lives.

Freeman and Moss are trying to collect a $148 million defamation judgment they won against Giuliani for his false ballot fraud claims.

OAN settled with Freeman and Moss in 2022. It posted a video saying state officials “have concluded that there was no widespread voter fraud by election workers who counted ballots at the State Farm Arena in November 2020. The results of this investigation indicate that Ruby Freeman and Wandrea ‘Shaye’ Moss did not engage in ballot fraud or criminal misconduct while working at State Farm Arena on election night.”

Freeman and Moss were dragged into the spotlight on Dec. 3, 2020, when a representative from Trump’s legal team, Jacki Pick, showed a Georgia Senate committee surveillance video from the room where ballots were counted. Pick said Republican observers were asked to leave and that once they were gone, election workers counted hidden, fraudulent ballots.

Pick didn't name the election workers “but said ‘one of them had the name Ruby across her shirt somewhere,’” the lawsuit said. Later that day, The Gateway Pundit was the first outlet to publish Freeman’s full name, and in a subsequent story also identified Moss, the lawsuit said.

The allegation that “suitcases” of ballots were pulled from under tables away from the eyes of observers was almost immediately debunked. But the Gateway Pundit and the Hofts perpetuated the narrative, publishing and promoting stories after they were aware claims had been disproven, the lawsuit said.

In a phone call with Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger on Jan. 2, Trump pressed the Republican official to “find” votes for him and mentioned Freeman by name, calling her “a vote scammer, a professional vote scammer and hustler.”

Freeman was a temporary election worker in 2020. Moss has worked for the Fulton County elections department since 2012 and supervised the absentee ballot operation.

As the allegations spread, Freeman received emails, text messages and threatening phone calls, and strangers showed up at her house, the lawsuit said. The FBI concluded on Jan. 6, 2021, that she wasn't safe at home, and she relocated for two months. She abandoned her business selling clothing.

Moss’ teenage son was bombarded with threatening messages after harassers found her old phone number, which he was using, the lawsuit said. Because she previously lived with her grandmother, the lawsuit said, strangers showed up at her grandmother’s house at least twice and tried to enter to make a “citizen’s arrest.”

HALESTORM's Lzzy Hale says that "there will be blood left on the stage" after she performs with SKID ROW later this spring.

The 40-year-old singer, who has fronted her band HALESTORM for more than two and a half decades, will handle the vocal duties for SKID ROW for four shows only after the group's fourth frontman since Sebastian Bach's departure — "Swedish Idol" contestant Erik Grönwall — quit the band to focus on his health.

Earlier today (Friday, March 29),Lzzy shared an admat for her four appearances with SKID ROW and she wrote in an accompanying message: "This is totally wild! I can't believe my VHS audition tape finally made it in the mail! (I kid, I kid)

"I started listening SKID ROW when I was a teenager growing up on the east coast in central Pennsylvania. They were one of the only bands at that time that truly bridged the gap for my love of 80s big choruses and riffs, but had the same poignant dirt and grime that was seeping into the cracks of my mind during the 90s. By the early 00s HALESTORM was well coming into its own, inspired by these powerful songs that helped me unlock a door within myself as a young musician. HALESTORM covered SKID ROW's "Slave To The Grind" for the 2011 EP "ReAniMate: The CoVeRs eP". The band has also performed the track live, as can be seen in the video below.

Grönwall, who was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia in March 2021, is immunocompromised, which made touring difficult.

"I'm getting stronger and healthier every day but after consulting my doctor I need to allow myself more time to recover, which I can't do as the lead singer of SKID ROW," he said in a statement. "That's why I have reached the tough decision to move on."

The SKID ROW members said in a statement that they are "proud of what they have created and accomplished with Erik over the past two years" and "wish nothing but the best to him and his health. To celebrate the last two years, the band will be releasing a live album that perfectly captures this moment of time in the band's 35-plus-year history, to be announced soon."

In September 2021, just four months before he joined SKID ROW, Grönwall released his new cover version of "18 And Life" via all streaming platforms.

In late March 2022, SKID ROW released its first single with Grönwall, "The Gang's All Here". The song is the title track of the band's latest album, which arrived in October 2022 via earMUSIC.

SKID ROW played its first show with Grönwall on March 26, 2022 at Zappos Theater at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada as the support act on the rescheduled dates for SCORPIONS' "Sin City Nights" residency.

If anyone is confused about the Caryl show’s season orders and which episode marks Carol’s return, that’s an intentional strategy. I was going to explain the difference between S1 and S2, but I think it’ll be clearer if I refer to the character arcs. Daryl’s solo arc, what was shot between October 2022 and March 2023, was not written for Carylers. It was not intended to service Caryl’s story. Melissa was not involved in the decision-making. As many of us will recall, she got pushed out.

From the marketing we’ve seen so far, it looks like Daryl’s solo arc wants to appeal to the crowd you might find on Reddit, where 74% are men, 64% are 18-29, and the majority can’t comprehend the idea of Daryl and Carol being each other’s love interests. AMC still wants Carylers to watch it, but they’re relying on leaks from Carol’s arc, what Melissa began shooting in mid March, to lure us in. Where’s the hole in that logic?

It’s a ploy for one thing. If there weren’t any significant rewrites or changes made in post, if they continue to use Reddit users as their focus group, Daryl’s solo arc is likely just going to scare/piss off the Carylers before Carol even arrives. They can’t have their cake and eat it too. They can’t target two opposing viewerships and expect everyone to be happy.

Caryl content is building major hype for the show, which is good. Promoting “Daryl Dixon” with weird fonts is getting mixed reactions, which is bad. It would make sense to start selling Daryl’s solo arc to Carylers, which means explicitly showing us the version of Daryl that we love, making Carol his emotional drive, and steering clear of any shipbaiting. Personally, I’m not sure how successfully AMC can polish it at this point, but I encourage them to prove me wrong.

My plan is the same for now. I’ll wait for Carol to come back before I start watching 🤷🏻‍♀️

TOP 10 PLAYS/MUSICALS ON FANFICTION.NET BASED ON NUMBER OF FANFICTION (2000-2022)

To make this bar chart race, all series titles in the Plays/Musicals Section on November 29 (or the closest date to it) of every year were copy-pasted from Wayback Machine to Google Sheets, rearranged according to number of fanworks, and then inputted to Flourish to turn into a bar chart race.

The Plays/Musicals section was created in March 5, 2009. Before this date, play/musicals were found in the Misc. section.

Up until 2005, the only entries for plays/musicals were Musicals/Plays and Screenplays.

In 1999, fanfiction weren’t divided into sections like Anime/Manga, TV, Books, etc. yet. It was just a small list of mixed fandoms. There wasn't any play/musical entry in the only archived page I have for that year.

Phantom of the Opera was removed from the Plays/Musicals section by 2011. All the fanfiction were transfered either to the Phantom of the Opera in the Book section or the Movies section. In 2015, Phantom of the Opera was added to the Plays/Musicals section again. However all but 1 fic were published in 2015 onwards.

Musicals/Plays, the catch-all category for all musicals/plays that don't have their own category, remained in the Misc. section with all the other Misc. [section] catrgories.

Originally, the fanfiction list was sorted alphabetically too, but was changed to number of fics at around early 2013.

By November 2013, FFN started abbreviating numbers above 1,000 to K, so exact numbers aren't available for series with more than 1,000 fanfiction.

This bar chart was made with the assumption that the numbers listed in the Plays/Musicals section are correct. I can't seem to get the same numbers for some of these categories when I go to the specific categories' page and toggle ratings, other filters, and language to All though... I'm not sure where the discrepancy is coming from. (And it’s not the crossover fic numbers that need to be added to serie’s total fics from what I’ve observed.)

Do y'all remember being in fandoms and wanting to read a reader insert fic that included a character you liked? Or maybe even your favorite character? You were a little excited to see the world and storylines this author came up with and imagine yourself in the story but then you come across something that isn't quite right. Right isn't necessarily the correct word but for the nature of the type of fanfiction it didn't really make sense?

It's a general insert, right? A fic where every reader is supposed to imagine themselves and feel included in the fandom but oh-

You see a comment about pale skin. Or maybe a comment about flowing hair. Or someone very explicitly describing someone's cheeks as red or pink. The same for their lips or if it's smut...well, you know. Pink everything else. They talk about throwing their hair into a messy bun or if they're gripping something, it's always "white knuckled".

You get this oh moment. This moment where you realize that despite what this author says, this wasn't written for you at all. Despite how inclusive they claim to be, someone who looked like you clearly wasn't in mind when they wrote it. It's blatantly a white reader even though it doesn't say it. And you try to think they didn't do it on purpose but doesn't that make it worse? The fact that people who look like you are such a non factor that it didn't even cross their mind that you...exist? You're a little disappointed because you wanted to enjoy it but how can you when the reader insert portion of the fic is clearly not what it's supposed to be?

But it's fine though because that's just one writer!

But it's not one writer or even two or even 5. It's majority of the writers in the fandom. Whether it was Marvel or 1D or whatever other fandom you were in. It was a plethora of writers going out of their way to exclude people. To make it clear who they wrote for and who they wanted reading their fics. And if you bothered to point it out, you were belittled. Your feelings were invalidated because "it's not that big of a deal". Your feelings just didn't matter.

To make matters worse, these fics had thousands of notes. It was a sign that people didn't care. They didn't care that people were being excluded and made to feel left out and like they didn't have a place in that particular part of the fandom. For years people showed that they couldn't care less and you wonder why you're even in the fandom at all. Why even interact with these people who've made it clear they kind of don't want you here? The fandom isn't fun for you and these people have made it that way.

And now those same people wonder why people go out of their way to write things like specific black inserts. Why people go out of their way to make people who've been excluded for years feel included. Why they would want to make a safe space for readers like that. Take a wild guess...

I sent in this ask back around March 18-20 (can't keep track of what day exactly) with the following points.

I decided to go back and look at Gen's posts going back a few years maybe Dec 2020 (another strange hunch) like a month or so ago. Do note this was before I started following his mom and sister out of curiosity, and realized a few things. Jared used to like her stuff a whole lot more, maybe miss a few weeks worth of stuff here and there but then start liking multiple posts in a row... until about Dec 2022. After that, Jared's likes on her posts greatly declined to become more or less a handful and is still the same today (will now go months between liking her posts now).

Onto the red flags I've noticed that tell me there might be some family stuff going on here. Jared's sister follows Jared on Instagram but guess who does NOT? His mom. Yes, you read that right. Jared's mom doesn't follow him on Instagram. I also found his dad follows Jared on Facebook who by the way doesn't follow Gen.

Oh how funny, his mother suddenly started following him not too long after I submitted this ask around March 18 or so. Gotta love it when these people give away the fact they clearly read the blogs, ya know?

True Love Never Dies - 1st Anniversary

On March 1st, 2022, our fandom was blessed with a story written by @khaleesiofalicante, and currently is the second highest Malec fanfic regarding word count on AO3. A story that certainly made a lot of us worried because... Malec divorced? But this story was one of the nicest surprises and wonders I've ever had the pleasure to read in all my life. The plot, twists, characters (both canon and new), the timelines... The construction and the pieces were so well woven, it still leaves me in awe. It's a story that I hold dear to my heart and that taught me so many things about life and love and relationships. About mental health and communication and sacrifices. It was a scary journey in the beginning but oh... it was worth every chapter, every day of waiting. It was so worthy.

Tae is active on Weverse! He mentions wanting Makguksu, a favorite of his.

Someone suggests Jk make it for him (he recently made it on a live). Tae confirms he called him at dawn and plans to go to his house tomorrow to eat it.

He praises Jk’s cooking, saying Jk has cooked Makguksu twice for him already and it’s in the top five Makguksus he’s had. It should also be noted that this shows, once again, how we only know so much about their lives. We didn’t know Jk had cooked this once, let alone twice for Tae, until Tae chose to mention it.

A short, fun recap about this dish and Taekook - We know Tae loves this dish, as he mentioned it as his lunch meal on Weverse on February 7, 2022.

He mentioned it to Wooga during filming of ITS Friendcation, and the group dined at a Makguksu restaurant during filming.

He also mentioned eating it a lot during Jinny’s Kitchen.

“official” bad sisters ages

i made a post a while ago speculating about the ages of the sisters, but they were just vague inferred ranges. then i saw the original pilot script, where they list most of the ages out for us! since people are still liking the old post, i figured i’d drop something in the tag sharing the more legit ages if anyone’s interested:

Eva: 48 | 24 in flashback - born July-December 1973

Grace: 44 pre-JPdeath, 45 post-JPdeath | 20 in flashback - born June 15th, 1977

Ursula: 42 | 18? in flashback - born July-December 1979*

Bibi: 34 | 9 in flashback - we don’t see her birthday in the series, which would suggest she was born July-December 1987, but the flashback puts her at age 9 on Christmas 1997, which would suggest she was born somewhere between the end of December 1987-June 1988. maybe she refuses to let the prick near her birthday so it wasn’t plot relevant to show!

Becka: 29 | 5 in flashback - born July-December 1992

flashback ages are after the deaths of their parents, so they were that age or younger when they died. obviously none of the ages except Grace and Becka’s were mentioned in canon, so it’s subject to the whims of the writing team in season 2, but I thought it was cool. more figuring under the cut if you’re curious!

most likely:

Eva is 3.5-4 years older than Grace, 6 years older than Ursula, 14 years older than Bibi, and 19 years older than Becka.

Grace is 3.5-4 years younger than Eva, 2-2.5 years older than Ursula, 10 years older than Bibi, and 15 years older than Becka.

Ursula is 6 years younger than Eva, 2-2.5 years younger than Grace, 8 years older than Bibi, and 13 years older than Becka.

Bibi is 14 years younger than Eva, 10 years younger than Grace, 8 years younger than Ursula, and 4.5-5 years older than Becka.

Becka is 19 years younger than Eva, 15 years younger than Grace, 13 years older than Ursula, and 4.5-5 years younger than Bibi.

Grace born - Eva 3.5-4

Ursula born - Eva 6, Grace 2-2.5

Bibi born - Eva 14, Grace 10, Ursula 8

Becka born - Eva 19, Grace 15, Ursula 13, Bibi 4/going on 5

other characters’ ages:

John Paul - Conflicting information. They celebrate his birthday after Easter 2022, which would put his birthday in April or May, but his funeral memorial card (where I pulled Grace’s birthday from) puts it 25th of September, 1972. His coffin, however, says 1974, and as this is a more prominent set piece I’m more inclined to believe it. Most likely he was probably born April or May 1974. This makes him 47/48 in the series.

Michael, Ursula’s eldest - 15 - born between July 2006 and June 2007. Ursula would have most likely been 27/28.

Blánaid - 12 - likely born around March/April 2010. Grace would have been 32.

Molly - would presume she is younger than Blánaid, as she is not invited to swim at the Forty Foot with the adults. Seems a similar age, though, so would assume only slightly younger.

*Ursula’s birthday range assumption is made because her birthday goes unmentioned by the December-July timeline of the series, which usually marks family events, but it could have simply been not shown. someone with a twitter presence and no reservations about interacting with creators should ask sharon horgan for their astrology signs lol so we could puzzle it out a bit more
