Macron's fiery Sorbonne speech targets summering American Millennials
It’s no coincidence that Emmanuel Macron gave a fiery speech about the threats facing Europe the same week that American Millennials in New York, LA, and Miami began talking about booking their one-way flights to the continent. "There is a risk our Europe could die - we are not equipped to face the risks," Macron said, referring to the dietary allergies, alternative milk needs, and tedious conversations of trust-funded, unemployed young adults who will begin their summer in Paris to attend a museum benefit that spills into a large dinner party with several professional photographers before traveling to Puglia, Comporta, or Ibiza where they will subsist on ‘beautiful tomatoes,’ flat whites, and MDMA.
Europe has struggled with illegal immigration for decades, and there is no more pressing illegal immigration threat than American Millennials who have decided that being unemployed in Europe is less distressing for their parents than being unemployed in Williamsburg. Google searches for ‘how long can I stay in EU without passport’ spiked in late-April among Americans who have not yet bought a Portuguese passport from a guy who used to run a turnkey Burning Man camp who is now running a Golden Visa scheme in Lisbon. “Our Europe today is mortal,” Macron said. “It can die and that depends solely on our choices,” the choices being whether or not to search and detain for ketamine at customs and how to clearly define tipping protocol in restaurants.
Tumblr media
“It used to be enough to spend a couple weeks in Italy in July,” observes Coco, a 34-year-old retired gallery founder who is on the board of several art-related non-profits that she instructed her unpaid interns to start. “But now it gets so hot in Europe in July that everyone is going in June and even like, May.” Coco has several weddings and dinner parties in various coastal destinations in Europe in June, but she has not yet RSVP’d nor has she booked any travel. “I know I’m going to go, but I’ve just been too busy to look at the dates or book anything,” she says, absently picking some kind of beige matter from the left eye of her toy goldendoodle. Macron at one point asserts in his speech that Europe is “too slow and lacks ambition,” referring directly to Coco’s ambivalent European travel plans.
Uncertainty permeates the vibe in Europe right now, not because of a military threat posed by a giant, angry country with cocked nukes driven by a weak-minded Cold War relic, but because every Millennial in New York, Miami and Los Angeles has expressed their intention to occupy Europe without declaring the targets.
“Is very stressful,” says Aldo Melpignano, the proprietor of Borgo Egnazia, a trendy boutique hotel in Puglia that for Europeans costs €120 a night and charges 30something Americans visiting from coastal zipcodes $970. “I see the hashtags on the Instagram, like, I’m coming for your @borgoegnazia,” he says. “Va bene, Allison, when you gonna come for us, and are you gonna come with that stupid capello?” says Aldo while making a pinched-fingers emoji with one hand and pointing to his head with the other. Hotel, coffee shop, organic market, and narcotics purveyors all over Italy, France, Spain, and Portugal have echoed this desire for more resolute planning and fewer hats from the demographic that funds the less productive but more desirable EU countries.
"We must produce more, we must produce faster, and we must produce as Europeans," Macron said, a rallying cry to European DJs to sample only vocals that were recorded in native European languages.
“Europe must show that it is never a vassal of the United States and that it also knows how to talk to all the other regions of the world," Macron said, refuting the irrefutable fact that Europe has become a summer camp for unproductive younger Americans and suggesting that they be immediately deported to Bodrum or Izmir upon landing at CDG, MXP, and LIS.
“This is a betrayal of our values that ultimately leads us to dependency on other counties,” Macron said, making an observation about Europe’s frustration with having to work between May and August in order to show American Millennials how to correctly tap their credit card on puzzling European payment terminals.
“Europe must become capable of defending its interests, with its allies by our side whenever they are willing, and alone if necessary,” said Macron, in defense of French baristas who do not like working with oat milk. Taking a hands-on approach to ensuring the EU’s “ability to ensure our security” Macron and his wife will begin their Summer at a wedding in the Aeolian Islands in early June, float around Sicily or Puglia the following week, head to Bonjuk Bay for an appearance of prominent LA-based DJ, RICHE, and then couch-surf in Santa Gertrudis de Fruitera the rest of the summer.

Having lived in Britain for 12 years, I returned to my native Moldova in 2022 because I was worried that Russia’s war in Ukraine would spill into my country. Thanks to the Ukrainian resistance, the skies are still clear in Moldova. But in the past weeks leading up to the presidential runoff between the pro-European incumbent Maia Sandu and the Russian-supported former prosecutor general Alexandr Stoianoglo, I felt as if I might lose my country once again.
The scale of interference in these Moldovan elections has been unprecedented. As reported by excellent independent journalists in the country, our law enforcement agencies alleged the existence of a large-scale, vote-buying scheme in the first round, run by Ilan Shor – a Russian-backed fugitive oligarch, who denies any wrongdoing.
Before the second round, journalists and others reportedly received death threats in broken Romanian, pretending to be on behalf of Sandu’s team. On election day, the most popular polling stations across Europe for overseas Moldovans had their vote disrupted by bomb threats. The servers of the Central Electoral Commission experienced a temporary cyberattack. The police said they had “reasonable evidence” of illegal organised voter transportation in Russia, Belarus, Azerbaijan and Turkey; people from Transnistria, the region to the east of the country, bordering Ukraine and controlled by Russia, admitted to being transported.
In addition to the alleged rigging, the internet, especially TikTok, was flooded with anti-Europe disinformation before the EU referendum on 20 October.
Despite all this, Sandu won. “They cannot steal as much as we can vote” was one of the informal slogans of this campaign. In the run-up to the second vote, the police updated the country daily about their arrests and seizures of cash related to the vote-buying scheme. This helped some people realise that receiving payment for votes was illegal and not just a way of getting free money. It also helped mobilise 380,000 people in the capital city Chișinău – more than in 2020 – and an unprecedented 330,000 Moldovans in the diaspora, who amounted to almost 20% of the total number of voters, to come out and vote. Both electorates largely voted for Sandu.
The pro-Russian Socialist party (PSRM), which supported Stoianoglo, said that it did not recognise the election results and that Sandu would only be the “president of the diaspora”. Yet 70% of the votes she received came from within the country.
While I lived in the UK, I queued for hours in order to vote in Moldovan elections at the various polling stations the state opened across London. In 2016, when Sandu first ran against PSRM leader Igor Dodon and lost to him, with thousands of other fellow citizens, I was not able to cast my vote because the polling station ran out of ballot papers. Some people had come from hundreds of miles away in order to vote.
Moldova’s diaspora is relatively new and porous. People first started leaving in large numbers in the 2000s, when President Vladimir Voronin ruled the country with many leading members of the PSRM. Their first destinations were Russia, Italy or Portugal, where they did difficult jobs in construction or care, in order to provide for their families. (My history teacher went to look after the dogs of an Italian star in order to pay for her son’s university fees.) Since then, as many people’s parents and grandparents had been born when Moldova was part of Romania, about a million Moldovans obtained Romanian citizenship – including the two presidential candidates, Sandu and Stoianoglo.
EU passports opened the way for Moldovans such as myself to benefit from better study and work opportunities across Europe, sending vital remittances back home. At the moment, about 1 million Moldovans live abroad and 2.8 million live in the country. Everyone has family members working abroad.
Like me, a number of people have also returned from the diaspora to open their own businesses or join existing private or non-governmental organisations, as well as state institutions. Sandu did this in 2012, leaving her much better paid position at the World Bank in order to become minister of education. Natalia Gavrilița, whom I first met in 2018 in a Moldovan activist group called FreeMoldova in London, left development work to become minister of finance and then prime minister. The list goes on.
Since the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, many Moldovans from the diaspora in Russia have returned home. In the more Russian-speaking regions of Gagauzia and Transnistria, people have started emigrating to Poland and the Czech Republic. As I was travelling on the Chișinău-Prague bus to the small Romanian town of Sibiu last week, in front of me a man was listening to Russian propaganda. The second driver, meanwhile, put on a speech by Sandu while resting. Social media have polarised Moldovan society – just like the entire world. Russian propaganda is good at enhancing these cleavages.
Moldova has shown resilience in the recent EU referendum and this presidential vote. But given the country is a parliamentary republic, the great battle will be next year in parliamentary elections. Until then, law enforcement has to get on top of vote-buying schemes. There must be better regulation of social media. And pro-European Moldovans have to collaborate and communicate better than the Russian propagandists.

twitter is a hellscape right now and i’m tired of these americans thinking that that this won’t affect us day-to-day as well. the us economy is the backbone of the modern world. your right-wing politicians embolden ours and speaking as a brit, nigel-wankstain-farage was at a trump rally (this man has five seats in our parliament, in perspective, labour have 411 and trump fans are cheering him? my guy, he lost) you don’t think this won’t affect the outside world? last i checked there weren’t any wars on your continent, but there are on ours and your stupid actions directly affect the shit putin will do. (i get it wasn’t everyone, but it was still 71 million of them).
trump plans to put a 20% import tax on all us exports, and because of what went down with brexit the us is the uk’s biggest trade partner because england decided they didn’t want to be in the eu anymore. freedom for them, but not for scotland and wales. (please let scotland back in eu, we don’t like them either!)
to think as kids we wanted live in america. one of these days, i’m gonna apply for my irish passport and either move to portugal, the netherlands or just sling my hook into the atmosphere.
like the us sends money to my country so bible thumpers can yell at women having abortions, and trans kids wanting to live in peace, at the very least the “scottish family party” are a piss-take.
and don’t even get me started on gen z men. i truly hope the “loneliness epidemic” kills them, their spirit and i hope their last dying breath is them wondering why women wouldn’t come anywhere near them because they wanted “lower gas prices” over a girlfriend and using basic empathy. it is insane that they are trump’s newest voter pull and the last nail in the “gen z are gonna change the world” attitude, gen z might but men, will be in fact, men.
sorry this is so long!
i'm with you 100,000%! it's fucking wild how some people in the U.S. STILL don’t see, or just don’t care, how deeply their political landscape impacts the rest of the world.
america’s economy, culture, and politics are still so influential that the ripple effects are impossible to avoid ANYWHERE. the way right-wing populism bounces back and forth across the atlantic is terrifying.
people like farage latch onto figures like trump, and it just stokes the fire of their own political issues (we have them in portugal too).
brexit’s def amplifyed the uk reliance on the us, economically. now, if trump or someone like him pushes a 20% import tax? that’s not just a hit to the U.S. economy, it’s a huge blow to the UK too, and that’s on top of everything you're already managing post-brexit.
for the gen z "men" leaning into this far-right rhetoric, i honestly hope they never procreate. just die. there’s this generation with so much potential for change, but instead, more than half of them are pulled into this warped mindset that values “freedom” as an excuse for a lack of empathy, all in the name of economics or whatever else (stupid fucking finance incels).
like you said, how the fuck is another human being or basic kindness/human right less important than some superficial metric that ultimately benefits no one?????????? those fucking podcasts have also contributed to this mentality and i see it everywhere, it makes me sick to my stomach. the violence towards women has grown EVEYWHERE (not that it ever stopped, but now we see it even in younger kids, like aged 7-12 INSANE).

How do I move to Portugal with my family?
Tumblr media
Moving to Portugal with your family is an exciting opportunity that involves careful planning and organization. Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you through the process:
1. Choose the Right Visa: The first step is to determine the appropriate visa for your family. If you plan to work, the D7 Visa is a popular choice for non-EU citizens, particularly for those with passive income or freelancers. If you’ve secured a job in Portugal, you’ll need a Work Visa. Family members can apply for a Family Reunification Visa to join you.
2. Gather Essential Documents: Ensure you have important documents such as passports, marriage and birth certificates, financial proof, health insurance, and accommodation details ready for the visa application.
3. Find Accommodation: Research and secure suitable housing in cities like Lisbon, Porto, or the Algarve. Consider factors like schools, transportation, and community amenities.
4. Enrolling in Schools: If you have children, you’ll need to enroll them in a school. Portugal offers both public and international schools.
5. Accessing Healthcare: Portugal has an excellent healthcare system. Once you obtain residency, you can access public healthcare services.
By following these steps, your family’s relocation to Portugal can be smooth and enjoyable.

How to Maximize Your Passport's Power: Visa-Free Travel Hacks?
Tumblr media
In today’s globalized world, a passport is more than just a travel document—it’s a gateway to opportunities and experiences. The true power of your passport lies in its ability to unlock visa-free travel, making international journeys seamless and hassle-free. With strategic planning and smart hacks, you can maximize your passport’s potential and explore the world with fewer restrictions. For those seeking to elevate their travel freedom even further, acquiring a second passport by investment is a game-changing strategy.
Understanding the Power of Your Passport
Your passport determines the number of countries you can visit without needing a visa. The strength of a passport is often ranked based on the number of visa-free or visa-on-arrival destinations it provides. For instance, passports from countries like Japan, Singapore, and Germany are among the most powerful globally, offering access to over 180 destinations.
If your current passport limits your travel options, there are practical ways to expand your mobility and explore the world more freely.
Visa-Free Travel Hacks
1. Know Your Visa-Free Destinations
Start by researching the visa-free countries accessible with your passport. Websites like the Henley Passport Index or Passport Index provide updated rankings and detailed information.
2. Leverage Regional Agreements
Many regions have agreements that simplify travel for their citizens. For example:
Schengen Zone: EU citizens can travel freely within this area.
ASEAN Countries: Southeast Asian nations offer visa-free or visa-on-arrival options for their members.
3. Use Visa Waivers and E-Visas
Some countries have electronic visa (e-visa) systems or visa waiver programs for specific nationalities. For instance, the US Visa Waiver Program allows citizens of 40 countries to travel to the US without a visa for short stays.
4. Plan Layovers Strategically
Choose layovers in countries that allow visa-free entry for short stays. This way, you can explore a new destination during your travel.
5. Get a Frequent Traveler Program
Enroll in trusted traveler programs like Global Entry (for the US) or Registered Traveller (for the UK) to enjoy expedited entry and reduced paperwork at immigration.
How a Second Passport Enhances Travel Freedom
While visa-free travel hacks can improve your mobility, acquiring a second passport by investment is the ultimate way to maximize your passport’s power. A second passport grants you dual citizenship, effectively doubling your visa-free travel options.
Benefits of a Second Passport:
Increased Visa-Free Destinations A second passport allows you to leverage the visa policies of two countries. For example, a Grenadian passport provides visa-free access to the UK, Schengen Zone, and China.
Security During Global Uncertainty In times of political or economic instability, a second passport offers a safety net, ensuring uninterrupted travel and global access.
Access to Global Opportunities With dual citizenship, you can explore international markets, educational institutions, and investment opportunities without restrictions.
Family Inclusion Most Citizenship by Investment (CBI) programs allow applicants to include their families, ensuring freedom for spouses and dependents.
How to Obtain a Second Passport by Investment
Citizenship by Investment (CBI) programs are the fastest and most efficient way to acquire a second passport. These programs require a financial contribution to the host country’s economy, often through:
Real Estate Investment
National Development Funds
Business Ventures
Popular CBI programs include:
St. Kitts & Nevis: Grants citizenship within 3-6 months with visa-free access to over 150 countries.
Portugal Golden Visa: Offers a pathway to European citizenship through real estate investments and residency.
Turkey: Provides a second passport with visa-free access to key destinations in Europe and Asia.
Maximize Your Passport’s Power with Dual Citizenship
A second passport amplifies your global mobility, allowing you to bypass travel restrictions and enjoy unparalleled freedom. Combining smart travel hacks with the benefits of dual citizenship ensures you can navigate the world effortlessly and take advantage of every opportunity it offers.
Conclusion
Maximizing your passport’s power is about more than convenience; it’s about unlocking the freedom to explore the world without barriers. From visa-free travel hacks to acquiring a second passport by investment, there are countless ways to elevate your global mobility. Whether you’re a frequent traveler, a business professional, or an adventurous explorer, the right strategies can make the world your playground.

What is CE marking? Why CE Marking Certification Is Necessary?
What is CE marking?
CE Marking is a certification that determines product conformity with health, safety and environmental protection standards.  CE marking applies to product sold within the European economic area (EEA). The CE marking can also be found on products that are sold outside the European economic area but are manufactured or designed in the EEA. CE Marking Certification is also known as CE mark. CE marking certification is mandatory to export products to Europe. The CE marking on a product the manufacturer ensures that the product is in conformity with the essential requirements of the applicable EC directives. The Word "CE" stand for "Conformite Europeene" ("European Conformity"). According to the level of risk of the product, the CE Mark is affixed to a product by the manufacturer or authorized representative after ensuring that the product meets all the CE mark requirements.
Why CE Marking Certification Is Necessary?
CE marking certification for a product is necessary in a number of ways, some of which are listed below.
CE marking Certification on a product gives guarantees that the product is in compliance with the necessary requirements of the European health safety and environmental protection legislations.  It gives more credit and confidence to the manufacturers to push their products to the global market.
CE marking certification on a product also gives assurance to government officials that the product is fit enough to be placed on the market in their country, and thus enhancing global distribution of products
CE marking certification on a product also aids easy and free movement or distribution of a product within the European Union market; it also permits the withdrawal of the products that does not conform with the EEA customs and enforcement authorities or regulations.
CE Marking Process
To apply the CE marking product certification, you need to set up a technical dossier showing that your product fulfills all the EU-wide prerequisites. Being the product's manufacturer, you bear exclusive obligations for ensuring conformity with all requirements. Some of the processes for CE marking are:
Take enquiry about the EU requirements (applicable directive / rule) for your CE Marking
Product.
Check whether your CE product meets the specific requirements for CE Marking Certification.
Check whether your CE product needs to be tested by a Notified Body
Test your CE Marking product personally & subsequently from external agency (If required for your product).
Arrange the technical file / technical dossier / technical construction file.
Affix the CE marking and draft a declaration of conformity (EU Declaration of conformity / EC Declaration of conformity.
Countries Where CE Marking is Mandatory
CE Marking is mandatory in following European countries:
Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, United Kingdom, Turkey, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal.
Apart from above specified countries many Asian, African & Middle East countries accept CE Marking as a parameter of product safety.
HOW DO YOU BENEFIT FROM CE MARKING CERTIFICATION?
The CE marking Certification is a kind of trade passport for the European marketplace: it allows the manufacturer to freely circulate their product throughout the 30 countries of the European Economic Area (EEA).
The benefit for CE manufacturers is that there is now only one set of requirements and procedures to comply with in designing and manufacturing a product for the entire EEA. The various and conflicting national regulations are eliminated. As a result, the product no longer needs to be adapted to the specific requirements of the different member states of the EEA.
Similarly, In addition, it may be considered a benefit that by implementing the requirements, the product will be safer for the user and this may also reduce damage and liability claims.

Unlock European Residency with the Portugal Golden Visa from Dubai
In today’s globalized world, individuals and families are increasingly seeking residency options that offer better quality of life, business opportunities, and international mobility. One such option that has gained significant popularity is the Portugal Golden Visa program. For those residing in Dubai, this program provides an excellent opportunity to gain residency in a European country while enjoying a host of benefits.
What is the Portugal Golden Visa?
The Portugal Golden Visa is a residency-by-investment program launched by the Portuguese government in 2012. It aims to attract foreign investors by offering them the chance to live, work, and study in Portugal, with the additional benefit of visa-free travel across the Schengen Zone. The program has been particularly appealing to individuals from non-EU countries, including the Middle East.
By investing in Portugal, be it through real estate, business ventures, or capital transfers, investors can secure residency for themselves and their immediate family members. After five years, applicants may be eligible for permanent residency or even Portuguese citizenship, provided they meet certain requirements.
Why the Portugal Golden Visa is Attractive to Dubai Residents
Dubai is known for its thriving economy, multicultural environment, and global business connections. However, many Dubai residents are looking to expand their horizons and secure alternative residency options for long-term stability, education, and travel freedom. Here’s why the Portugal Golden Visa Dubai is an attractive choice:
Visa-Free Travel: Portugal is part of the Schengen Zone, which means that residents can enjoy visa-free travel to 190+ countries within the zone. This is particularly appealing for businesspeople and frequent travelers in Dubai who want easier access to Europe.
High Quality of Life: Portugal offers a high standard of living, with excellent healthcare, education, and infrastructure. Whether you're looking for a place to retire, raise a family, or expand your business, Portugal provides a stable and peaceful environment.
Investment Opportunities: Real estate in Portugal is affordable compared to other Western European countries. Whether you’re interested in urban properties in Lisbon and Porto or vacation homes in the Algarve, the Portugal Golden Visa Dubai offers a pathway to European residency through smart investments.
Tax Benefits: Portugal has a Non-Habitual Resident (NHR) tax regime, which allows newcomers to benefit from reduced taxes on certain types of income for up to ten years. This is a significant advantage for high-net-worth individuals residing in Dubai who are looking to optimize their tax planning.
Pathway to Citizenship: After maintaining your investment and meeting residency requirements over five years, you may apply for permanent residency or even Portuguese citizenship. This offers long-term security and the potential to hold an EU passport, one of the strongest in the world.
Portugal Golden Visa Investment Options
The Portugal Golden Visa offers a variety of investment routes, making it flexible for different types of investors. Here are the key options available:
Real Estate Investment: The most popular route, requiring an investment of at least €500,000 in real estate. Reduced investment options of €280,000 or €350,000 are also available for properties in low-density or rehabilitation areas.
Capital Transfer: Transfer at least €1.5 million to a Portuguese bank or approved fund.
Job Creation: Invest in a business that creates at least 10 new jobs in Portugal.
Scientific or Technological Research: An investment of €500,000 in research conducted by public or private institutions in Portugal.
Cultural Investment: Support for cultural, artistic, or national heritage projects with a minimum investment of €250,000.
Investment Fund: A €500,000 investment in a qualified Portuguese venture capital fund.
The Application Process from Dubai
Applying for the Portugal Golden Visa from Dubai is relatively straightforward, but it requires attention to detail and proper documentation. Working with a reputable consultancy or legal team specializing in immigration law can ensure that your application is processed smoothly.
The typical steps include:
Choosing an eligible investment option.
Gathering the necessary documentation, including proof of income, criminal background checks, and health insurance.
Submitting your application through the Portuguese Immigration and Borders Service (SEF).
Once approved, your initial residency permit will be valid for two years, after which it can be renewed for three-year periods.
Why Now is the Best Time to Apply for the Portugal Golden Visa
As governments across Europe tighten immigration laws and residency programs, the Portugal Golden Visa continues to offer an accessible route to European residency. However, there have been discussions about potential reforms to the program, particularly concerning real estate investments, making it prudent to start the process sooner rather than later.
For Dubai residents, now is an excellent time to diversify your investment portfolio, gain access to European markets, and secure a better future for your family.
Conclusion
The Portugal Golden Visa Dubai offers a unique opportunity for Dubai residents to secure European residency while making a profitable investment. Whether you are drawn by the prospect of visa-free travel, tax advantages, or a higher quality of life, the program provides a flexible and efficient pathway to European living. If you’re considering your next global move, the Portugal Golden Visa could be your gateway to a brighter future.

Britons heading to Europe next summer to need €7 visa waiver
Britons going on holiday to Europe next summer will have to obtain a €7 (£5.97) visa waiver, EU officials have confirmed.
The new European Travel Information and Authorisation System (ETIAS), due to be launched in the spring, will require “third country” nationals entering the bloc to apply for a short-term visa, similar to the US Esta, before travelling. The system will replace the current manual stamping of passports and will record the traveller’s name, type of travel document and biometric data.
Ylva Johansson, EU Commissioner for Home Affairs, told staff working on the EES programme:
After intense dialogues with member states, with you, with the different stakeholders — I have decided that the EES will enter into operations on November 10.
She also confirmed that ETIAS should be launched six months later. This means it could come into force before the May half-term next year and is likely to be in place by the summer holidays.
The EU Commission says most ETIAS applications will be approved “within minutes” but in some cases it could take up to 30 days, which could leave Britons caught off guard by the rule change.
Once approved, Britons travelling to popular holiday destinations including France, Spain and Portugal will have insurance for three years or until their passport expires.
