I LOVE THAT THIS FOUND ME ON TUMBLR
I love my country, and every queer person in Portugal has now adopted this man as their grandpa. This was the cutest thing this Pride Month.
I haven't seen this circulating here on Tumblr, so I decided to make my own post.
last saturday, in Porto, there was a pride parade going down the street and this old man was standing there, by his front door, waving the portuguese flag. most people on the parade probably thought the same: old person waving the national flag? he's probably protesting against the parade, he's a nationalist of some sort.
then the old man called for that person to come near him. the whole parade stopped. everyone just.. stopped moving. they didn't know what to expect, and most expected the worst. and that person decided to give him the benefit of the doubt and approached the old man. and then... they traded flags, he hugged the person and then he waved the pride flag happily. everyone cheered him.
such a wholesome moment. 🥹❤️🌈

one good thing that happened in my country ❤️

[Video Description: at the doorstep of an old man's house in Porto, Portugal, on a street through which a pride parade is marching, a young marcher trades her progress pride flag with the old man of the house for his Portuguese flag, which the young marcher then wraps around her own shoulders. They briefly hug each other tightly before the young marcher rejoins the pride parade. The old man waves his newly acquired pride flag, gives the young marcher in the crowd a thumbs up, and blows kisses to the crowd, and the crowd cheers him on. The old man and several members of the parade are visibly emotional, and the person behind the camera is audibly sobbing between cheers. End Video Description]

[Image Description: a close-up of the old man from the video, hugging his new pride flag. He has short grey hair, is wearing glasses, and has a big grey mustache covering his upper lip. He's wearing a beige shirt. His face is scrunched up and red as he looks over the crowd in front of him, which is blurry in the foreground, and hugs his flag, visibly overcome with emotion. A tear rolls down his left cheek. End Image Description]
This old man, possibly in his late 60's, was seen in Porto last Saturday, the 29th of June 2024, waving a Portuguese flag on his doorstep while a pride parade marched past. He was the only one around waving a Portuguese flag.
In a video on Instagram published the following Sunday, singer Mara Nunes, who participated in the march, explains why the people in the crowd were initially wary of him. Waving a country's flag at a pride parade is often what anti-LGBTQIA+ nationalist protestors do, and people thought he might be one of these nationalists.
The old man, at one point, waved over a young marcher, Lily Martins, one of Mara's friends. The marchers stopped and waited with baited breath as Lily approached him, ready to defend their friend, if necessary. The old man told Lily, "It's for you," as he draped his Portuguese flag over her shoulders. Lily gave her own Progress Pride flag to the old man, and they hugged tightly before Lily rejoined the crowd.
"The entire march had stopped. We stayed there for a good while, very emotional," recounts Mara. During the trade, the old man held up the flag and pointed at his heart. "It's a pity he didn't say much. He asked if the flag was for him, hugged Lily tightly, and thanked her, weeping."

summer pride

The center stripes are grey, red, fuchsia, blue, green, yellow, orange and grey. In the middle of the flag is the Cengender symbol, which is made from the number "100" by centering and overlaying two ones facing away from each other and two concentric zeros positioned in the middle of the stalk of the number one. The Cengender symbol is off-white. At the very center is a brown circle. ./. End ID]
Resgender: a fluid, ever-changing gender experience that is wholly unidentifiable and nondescript, but is capable of manifesting in an extremely vast multitude of experiences of gender and/or lack of gender which may or may not be contextually based or circumstantial.
[PT: Resgender: a fluid, ever-changing gender experience that is wholly unidentifiable and nondescript, but capable of manifesting in a extremely vast multitude of experiences of gender and/or lack of gender which may or may not be contextually based or circumstantial. ./. End PT]
A synonym of Cengender.
Etymology
[PT: Etymology ./. End PT]
From Latin, "Res" meaning "Thing" + "-gender", a neologistic English suffix indicating genderedness. The Latin word "Res" draws from both Proto-Italic and Porto-Indoeuropean language families, where it originally meant "Wealth", "Goods" or even to refer to a head of cattle. The coiner does not specify further regarding the etymology of the term or how it relates to the definition. Coined by user Baaphomett in June 2014 (link) [PT: Coined by user Baaphomett in June 2014 (link) ./. End PT].
Alternative, Cengender was coined by user Small-Enby in August 2014 on MOGAI-Archive (link) [PT: Cengender was coined by user Small-Enby in August 2014 on MOGAI-Archive (link) ./. End PT]. The etymology is likely from Galacian, “Cen”, meaning “100″ + “-gender”, a neologistic English suffix indicating genderedness. The definition of Cengender is as follows:
a gender that can be summed up as an unidentifiable thing but manifests as hundreds of different genders or non at all at any given time at the same time and/or separately. Fluid and ever changing.
[PT: a gender that can be summed up as an unidentifiable thing but manifests as hundreds of different genders or non at all at any given time at the same time and/or separately. Fluid and ever changing. ./. End PT]
Resgender and Cengender appear to have been considered synonyms from at least July 2016, as seen in this post from user Pride-Color-Schemes (link) [PT: as seen in this post from user Pride-Color-Schemes (link) ./. End PT] It could be argued that both terms are different from each other, based upon each of their definitions. More information is included on this below in the Elaboration section.
Elaboration
[PT: Elaboration ./. End PT]
Resgender and Cengender were both coined independently, but close in date. According to the definition given by the coiner, Resgender:
is unidentifiable (UIN) and nondescript (GEIN) in it's nature.
embodies a vast range of gender experiences (VASIN).
...these vast experiences of gender have the capacity to be identified as, operate as and/or be attributed to being a "girl" and/or "boy".
is contextually based.
By comparison, Cengender:
is unidentifiable (UIN).
embodies a vast range of gender experiences (VASIN).
may manifest as having no gender (AGIN).
may be AGIN and VASIN separately and/or simultaneously.
is fluid (IDIN) and always changing.
Both Cengender and Resgender are UIN and VASIN. However, Resgender is also GEIN, explicitly mentions xorgenders in it's definition and can be contextually based. Cengender is AGIN and IDIN, and may be considered paradoxical (DOXIN).
Since both terms are generally considered synonyms and are often used interchangeably, I have attempted to integrate the definitions into one, but it should be noted that each are indeed different from one another based upon the wording of their respective definitions.
This is a repost from my old blog, Gender-Resource (terminated) (link) [PT: This is a repost from my old blog, Gender-Resource (terminated) (link) ./. End PT]. This post has been updated with a redesigned flag, updated definition, an elaboration and additional links.
Pride Flag
[PT: Pride Flag ./. End PT]
My Resgender flag is based up on the pride flag created by user Pride-Color-Schemes in 2016. To avoid creating a flag that is difficult to reproduce, I simplified the Cengender symbol to be of one color.
This is my redesign of my original pride flag that I posted on Gender-Resource. The background of the flag is black, with eight central stripes, with the outer two being slightly larger than the others. The design carries the following meanings:
The black background represents vastness.
The grey stripes represent contextual/circumstantial basis and fluidity.
The red, fuchsia, blue, green, yellow and orange stripes represent the diversity of gender (or lack thereof).
The brown circle represents being unidentifiable and nondescript.

Who knows this gentleman's story, but I suspect he's had to wait a real long time to be able to do anything like this.
(tumblr doesn't let add videos to reblogs, apparently)
decided to post the full video from this story, in case the twitter post gets deleted.
the caption reads: "The most beautiful scene today"
you can see (and hear) people crying in the crowd. such an emotional moment. 🥹🥹

"Coligay": brazilian soccer and homosexuality in the 70s and 80s
i wanted to find a piece of queer history outside of the USA to tell people this pride month, and i remembered this one, so i decided to look it up again and sum it up for you guys. links with more information are at the end of the post
-> what was "Coligay"?
Coligay was a group of fans of the soccer club Grêmio, from Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul, made up entirely by queer people. It was created in 1977 by Volmar Santos, Grêmio fan and owner of a gay bar, named "Coliseu", coliseum in portuguese. That's where the name of the group comes from, a mix of "Coliseu" and "gay"- Coligay! The members were, in turn, called "coliboys", as "boy" is a common slang in Brazil.
In a very sexist and homophobic environment, during the military dictatorship, Coligay members were scared of possible aggressions and repression from fellow soccer fans and the military, so they trained karate. Yup! A group of gay soccer fans who fought karate, in the late 70s, can this get any more badass?
It sure can!
With the birth of Coligay, Grêmio finally started to win games and titles again, being the champion of the "Gaúcho Championship" that year, and winning other championships after that. they basically became a lucky amulet to the team, and wherever the team went, the coliboys were there, just like the Grêmio anthem says ("Mas o certo é que nós estaremos onde o Grêmio, onde o Grêmio estiver").
-> what caused "Coligay" to end?
the leader and creator, Volmar Santos, had to go back to his hometown in the 80s, causing the group to lose strength and to finally dismantle in 1983.
the group also suffered a lot of aggressions and threats from other soccer fans, even within Grêmio, and was watched closely by the government at the time, due to, again, existing during the military dictatorship, a time of intense repression of leftist views and anyone or anything that didn't follow the strict, conservative social norms.
regarding aggressions, Volmar Santos says there was only one instance of direct physical aggression against the coliboys, but nonetheless, the group didn't feel safe, which was still a strain for the members.
-> does "Coligay" exist nowadays?
sadly, no. there were attempts made to bring it back, with the help of other queer soccer fan groups, but the amount of aggression faced online lead them to back down. Brazil is an incredibly bigoted country, and soccer is, unfortunately, a place where that is extremely clear.
other gay and queer groups were created for other teams, however, inspired by Coligay, and though it's taken a while, Grêmio has recognised its existence years after it ended and there are even books written on its history now. there's also a piece of their history in the Grêmio museum.
-> conclusion:
I hope this short summary of this incredible piece of Brazilian queer history makes some of y'all happy today, specially for fellow Brazilians and gaúchos who may have been unaware that it even existed. Happy pride month, and have a queer-tastic day.

So @acrazybayernfan came up with this absolutely incredible tag game and I'm 100% here for it so let's go:
What is your top 10 most memorable Bayern’s matches?
In no particular order:
Well needless to say: 8-2. I mean... it's just too iconic to not mention lol.
I also can't not mention Robert Lewandowski loses his motherfucking mind scores 5 times in 9 minutes against Wolfsburg in 2015. I mean, it's historic.
2015 UCL, the second leg against Porto during quarter-finals. That was the time I learned the valuable lesson of never giving up and to keep believing in the team and in this club. That game was insane and we ended up winning 6-1 and securing our place in Semi-finals when we died a horrible horrible death but anyway. I remember watching that game and feeling so much pride and joy of being a Bayern fan, I get emotional just to remember it lol
Now this one is really special to me for an unusual reason, I guess: home game against Bremen during the 2014-15 Bundesliga. We won 6-0, it was the second highest score we got that season I think (if I remember correctly we went on to win against H*mburg 8-0, or was it before? whatever). I remember this game bc Fips scored a brace and it was just LEGENDARY bc you wouldn't expect him to score let alone score twice in a single match. I remember screaming like crazy when he scored the first and then just dying when he did it again lmao it was fun
Another one from the 2014-15 season (this was my first season around so I remember a lot of stuff): away game against Mainz, we won 2-1. I'm not exactly sure if it was Basti's first game since he came back from injury (after the WC) or if it was one of the first games... in any case, he scored an insane goal (which to this day is one of my favorite Bayern goals ever) and I screamed like crazy and I was watching it back in my parent's house and my dad walked in while I was screaming lmao
2015-16 UCL, 2nd leg against Juve in Round of 16. We desperately needed to win and we begun losing and no one really expected us to make it through. I remember this one bc I actually didn't watch it: I don't remember exactly if I couldn't find a stream or what, but the best I could do was read live updates on a website and pray. It was one of the most stressful experiences of my life and I remember abandoning my phone at one point bc I was sure we wouldn't win. And we did. Lmao.
2019-20 Bundesliga. Away game in Frankfurt, the infamous 5-1. This one was during a time where I drifted away from Bayern due to depression and stuff and I didn't feel as connected to the team as I used to and then I remember seeing the scoreline and just... dying inside. Feeling like something was very, very wrong with the world. I can't remember the match exaclty, but I have never let go of it since then and to this day I loathe Frankfurt for this specific match.
This year's Pokal match against Freiburg in April. That was one of the most frustrating experiences of my life as a Bayern fan. It was our second game with Tuchel and I was already feeling that I would want that man's head on a silver plate (and I still do).
Another one (last one) from the 2014-15 season bc this one is really really special: our friendly against MLS All-Stars before the start of the season. Which we lost. It's special bc it was the first Bayern match I actually watched!!! I remember feeling very happy when I found a channel that was showing it and I was very excited even though the WC guys wouldn't play (I think they ended up being subbed in in the 2nd half? I don't remember exactly). Everybody was talking about Lewandowski and I was all ?????!!!! bc I had no concept of anything. It was an awful match but a very fun experience lmao
And last but not least: our UCL win against PSG in 2020. It wasn't the way we all wanted it to be, but since I was just coming back from my "fan retirement" I remember exploding from joy after that game and throwing myself on the floor and rolling around and idk it was priceless. Making P$G fail and Neymar cry has got to be some of the best things we do every now and then lmao thanks for that Bayern
I know a lot of you have already been tagged (I didn't check if any of you already did it lmao) but I'll tag anyway bc I'm just like that. I tag @thomas-mvller @thomats @probayern @miss-i-ship-it @fabioquartararhoe @smolnerdz @smilesleepandspeak and @leongolretzka (but please don't feel pressured to do it ^^)
#this was really challenging bc my memory sucks#and this made me kinda sad bc most of the matches I recall are from like... 7-9 years ago oops#I remember few particular matches from 2020 on and I don't like that#but it is what it is... life was easier and i was less busy between 2014-16 lol#anyway thanks so so much for this lise i had a lot of fun remembering these games (some of them not so much lol)
