#portable oxygen cylinders
Text
In the realm of healthcare, medical oxygen equipment is essential for managing patients with respiratory conditions. Among the most critical components of this equipment are oxygen cylinders, which play a vital role in delivering oxygen therapy.
What is Medical Oxygen Equipment?
Medical oxygen equipment refers to the tools and devices used to provide supplemental oxygen to patients. This includes oxygen concentrators, oxygen tanks, and cylinders, as well as various delivery systems like masks and nasal cannulas. These devices are crucial for individuals suffering from conditions such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), asthma, and other respiratory disorders.
Role of Oxygen Cylinders
Oxygen cylinders are pressurized containers designed to store and deliver oxygen. They are commonly used in both hospital settings and for home care. These cylinders come in various sizes, from small, portable units to larger tanks that are typically used in healthcare facilities. The choice of cylinder depends on the patient’s needs and the duration for which oxygen therapy is required.
How Oxygen Cylinders Work
Oxygen cylinders operate by storing oxygen at high pressure, allowing it to be delivered as needed. When a patient requires oxygen, the cylinder is connected to a regulator that controls the flow of oxygen. This regulated flow is then directed through a delivery device, such as a mask or cannula, to the patient.
Safety and Maintenance
Safety is paramount when handling oxygen cylinders. Due to the high pressure inside the cylinders, proper storage and handling are essential to prevent accidents. Cylinders should be kept upright and secured to avoid tipping or falling. Regular maintenance checks are necessary to ensure the equipment functions correctly and safely.
Portable vs. Stationary Cylinders
Portable oxygen cylinders offer mobility and convenience, making them ideal for patients who need oxygen therapy while traveling or engaging in daily activities. Stationary cylinders, on the other hand, are generally used in clinical settings where a constant, reliable supply of oxygen is required.
Conclusion
Medical oxygen equipment, including oxygen cylinders, is indispensable in managing respiratory health. By understanding the function, safety, and types of oxygen cylinders, both healthcare providers and patients can ensure effective and safe oxygen therapy. Proper use and maintenance of this equipment support optimal patient care and improve the quality of life for those with respiratory challenges.

How to use an oxygen cylinder at home?
Oxygen Cylinder For Rent In Hyderabad - F7 O2 SUPPLIES PVT LTD.
How To Use Oxygen Cylinder:
Ensure that the valve is closed, and the cylinder is properly labelled.
Screw the regulator onto the cylinder in a clockwise direction.
Rotate the valve anticlockwise to open it.
Adjust the flow rate using the flow meter or regulator on the cylinder.
After placing the nasal cannula or mask on the patient, attach the tubing to the regulator's outlet.
Monitor the patient's oxygen saturation levels and adjust the flow rate as needed.
When finished, turn off the flow by closing the valve, and disconnect the tubing.
Properly store the cylinder.
If there is any trouble or complication contact the supplier immediately.
Using an Oxygen Cylinder at Home requires certain precautions and steps to ensure safety and effectiveness. Here are some general guidelines to follow:
Get a prescription: Oxygen therapy should be prescribed by a doctor. Your doctor will determine the amount of oxygen you need and how often you should use it.
Purchase or rent an oxygen cylinder: You can purchase or rent an oxygen cylinder from a medical supply company. Make sure the cylinder is properly labeled and has a regulator that fits the cylinder valve.
Set up the cylinder: Place the cylinder in an upright position on a stable surface. Make sure it is secure and cannot be knocked over. Attach the regulator to the cylinder valve and tighten it securely.
Check the flow rate: Set the flow rate to the level prescribed by your doctor. The flow rate is the amount of oxygen that is delivered per minute.
Use a cannula or mask: Attach a cannula or mask to the tubing coming from the regulator. A cannula is a soft, flexible tube with two prongs that fit into your nostrils. A mask covers your nose and mouth.
Turn on the oxygen: Turn on the cylinder by opening the cylinder valve counterclockwise. You should hear a hissing sound. Adjust the flow rate to the prescribed level.
Monitor the oxygen level: Keep an eye on the gauge on the regulator to make sure the cylinder has enough oxygen. Replace the cylinder when the pressure gauge drops to a low level.
Safety precautions: Keep the cylinder away from heat sources, open flames, and electrical appliances. Do not smoke or allow anyone to smoke near the cylinder. Do not use oil or grease on the regulator or cylinder valve.
Maintenance: Store the cylinder in a cool, dry place. Check the cylinder and regulator periodically for damage or leaks. Clean the cannula or mask regularly.
It's essential to follow the guidelines and precautions to ensure the safe and effective use of oxygen therapy at home. If you have any questions or concerns, consult your doctor or a medical professional.

The Occupied Palestinian Territory is enveloped in a spiral of unstoppable violence, with stories Palestinians and other witnesses relay adding new depths to atrocities the world has witnessed since the beginning of Israel’s assault on Gaza over six months ago, the UN Special Rapporteur on the Occupied Palestinian Territory, Francesca Albanese said today. “The pace and intensity with which this violence has spread to the rest of the occupied territory confirms that no Palestinian is safe under Israel’s unfettered control,” Albanese said, concluding a visit to Egypt and Jordan. The Special Rapporteur said Israel had once again arbitrarily denied her access to the Occupied Palestinian Territory, compelling her to report on the situation of Palestinians under occupation from neighbouring states. Albanese said her visit demonstrated that the situation in Gaza is worse than previously assessed, with serious and multi-layered long-term implications. Most victims she met had endured catastrophic injuries, witnessed family members killed and experienced the effects of Israel’s destruction of Gaza’s health infrastructure, even after 26 January 2024, when the International Court of Justice (ICJ) issued a ruling ordering Israel to prevent genocide in Gaza. Patients that previously arrived in Egypt primarily with explosive and war injury-related symptoms are now joined by patients with chronic diseases and/or malnutrition, especially children, arising from Israel’s intentional humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza. “Photos from a mere eight months ago show a chubby-cheeked 8-year-old Hamid, now rake thin and spending his days in excruciating pain due to pancreatitis developed through the harsh conditions of the siege,” the Special Rapporteur said. “Those who have left Gaza come out fractured and wracked by ‘survivors’ guilt’ and severe trauma,” Albanese said. “Just 50 kilometers away from the Gaza Strip, crucial, life-sustaining aid and goods, including water desalination equipment, first aid kits, oxygen cylinders and portable toilets – paid for by taxpayers across the world – languish in warehouses, barred entry into Gaza on the pretext of use by combatants.” “Humanitarian measures implemented so far – airdrops and maritime corridors – are a mere palliative for what is desperately needed and legally due,” the expert said. “These measures are grossly inadequate to alleviate the humanitarian catastrophe that Israel’s assault has created.” “At this point, Israel has reneged on its international obligations to a degree that warrants a call for sanctions,” Albanese said.

https://www.nhs.uk/pregnancy/labour-and-birth/what-happens/pain-relief-in-labour/
Gas and air (Entonox) for labour
This is a mixture of oxygen and nitrous oxide gas. Gas and air will not remove all the pain, but it can help reduce it and make it more bearable. It's easy to use and you control it yourself.
You breathe in the gas and air through a mask or mouthpiece, which you hold yourself. The gas takes about 15-20 seconds to work, so you breathe it in just as a contraction begins. It works best if you take slow, deep breaths.
there are no harmful side effects for you or the baby
it can make you feel lightheaded, sick, sleepy or unable to concentrate, but if this happens you can stop using it
If gas and air does not give you enough pain relief, you can ask for a painkilling injection as well.
Pethidine injections in labour
This is an injection of a medicine called pethidine into your thigh or buttock to relieve pain. It can also help you to relax. Sometimes, less commonly, a medicine called diamorphine is used.
It takes about 20 minutes to work after the injection. The effects last between 2 and 4 hours, so would not be recommended if you're getting close to the pushing (second) stage of labour.
it can make you feel woozy, sick and forgetful
if pethidine or diamorphine are given too close to the time of delivery, they may affect the baby's breathing – if this happens, another medicine to reverse the effect will be given
these medicines can interfere with the baby's first feed
Remifentanil
Remifentanil goes into a vein in your arm. You control it yourself by pushing a button.
It works quickly and wears off after a few minutes. You can use it up until your baby is born.
You’ll need a small clip on your finger to measure your oxygen levels, as remifentanil can make you feel breathless or need oxygen.
Remifentanil can make you feel sleepy, sick, dizzy or itchy. These stop once you stop taking the medicine.
Like pethidine, remifentanil can affect the baby’s breathing but this usually wears off quickly.
Entonox (gas and air) is a commonly-used pain killer in labour that can help take the edge off labour pain. It’s a colourless, odourless gas that you inhale through a mask or mouthpiece. Entonox is made up of nitrous oxide and oxygen and you may have also heard it called laughing gas. One of the advantages of Entonox is that you can use it alongside other pain relief, like pethidine or diamorphine. It can cause side effects though, like a dry mouth and nausea.
Entonox takes the edge off labour pain, rather than blocking it out. You may also find that it makes you feel light-headed and giggly. Entonox should be available wherever you choose to give birth, including birth centres and at home. Many hospitals have a central supply of Entonox, so it's available when you want it. If you're in a hospital or a birth centre without a central supply, or if you're having a home birth, your midwife can bring Entonox to you in portable cylinders.
Entonox is the most common method of pain relief used for labour. More than three quarters of people use it to help them cope during labour. You can have Entonox whenever you want in active labour. However, there is a limit to how long you can safely use it. So, it’s best not to start using Entonox until you really need it. Instead, try other things to divert your attention until you really do need extra pain relief. You could try breathing exercises, relaxation techniques, walking about, using a birth ball, or taking a warm bath.
You breathe gas and air in through an antibacterial filter using a mouthpiece or mask, which you hold yourself. The mask is made of a light, transparent plastic. The mouthpieces and filters are usually designed for one person to use, so you should be provided with a fresh set.
====
Thank you for all this. The point remains, all of these are regulated drugs that can only be administered to patients. Harry helping himself to the laughing gas is no laughing matter. Pun intended.

THE ROOKIE REACTION
Today's reaction is to the season 5, fifth episode titled "The Fugitive" which originally aired on October 23, 2022. The episode was written by Diana Mendez Boucher and directed by Cherie Nowlan. Spoilers ahead!
Tumblr media
I must say, this season of The Rookie is firing on all cylinders and each new episode is better than the next. We begin the episode about a week after last week's events. Bailey (Jenna Dewan) is heading back to work after almost, no, actually dying in the trap set for her by one of Rosalind Dyer's acolytes. Nolan is nervous about her going back so soon but ultimately respects her decision. Bailey reveals that this isn't the first time she's almost died and this news is shocking to Nolan.
Wesley and Angela are preparing for her mother to come over to babysit Jack while they are at work. When Angela goes to open the front door, she finds her mother, Emila Lopez (Rose Portillo) sprawled on the doorstep with a gash across her forehead. Angela rushes her to the emergency room while Wesley stays home with Jack and while Emilia is being treated, Angela decides to press her for details about her attack. Emilia is initially evasive when it comes to the questioning but eventually she reveals her attacker said to her, "Tell your son he's out of time".
Tumblr media
Tim and Thorsen respond to a robbery call and while chasing after the suspect, Tim wrenches his back. Lucy arrives at the scene and when she sees Tim in pain, she tells him she's taking him to the hospital. I really felt for Tim in this scene. Back pain is one of the worst pains I've ever experienced, second only to tooth pain. When Tim arrives at the hospital, the doctor tells him the pain he is feeling is from the bullet fragment they were unable to remove when he was shot back in season one. I'd totally forgotten about that. Long story short, Tim needs to have surgery, but since the bullet fragment is so close to his spine, there is a chance he might get paralyzed. Lucy and Tim's girlfriend, Ashley (Helena Mattsson), who I'd honestly forgotten about, are concerned about the risks but Tim decides to go through with the surgery.
Nolan, Celina, and Bailey arrive at an accident involving a man crashing into several parked vehicles and flipping his car while doing 70. On route to the hospital, Bailey sees that the man, whose name is Rob Lukasey (Cody John) has a gunshot wound. When they arrive at the hospital, Bailey exits the ambulance and asks one of the paramedics to apply pressure to the wound. While she is gone, Rob takes a portable oxygen tank and smashes it over the paramedic's head. The man then exits the ambulance and heads inside the hospital. Nolan and Celina arrive at the hospital and they see the paramedic. The hospital is placed on lockdown while law enforcement searches the building for Rob.
Tumblr media
Meanwhile, three out of four of Angela's brothers arrive at the station so she can interrogate them about the man that attacked their mother. There's Damien (Julio Macias) the oldest (and hottest) of her brothers who is a priest and who also has his own nonprofit where he teaches job skills to reformed gang members. Next up is Benny (Cristian Gonzales), the second born, who appears to be the wealthiest of the Lopez siblings. Then there's Cruz (Shiloh Fernandez) who is the middle child who has been in and out of rehab since he was 18, aka the screw-up. When Nyla asks about the youngest brother, Bruno, Angela tells her he's away at college on the east coast. When this was said in the episode, I looked over at my mom and said, "We don't talk about Bruno, no, no, no" and she cackled.
Since Angela is so close to the case, Nyla attempts to question the brothers but keeps getting interrupted by Angela interjecting and Wesley is serving as all three brother's legal defense which was a very funny scene. During these interrogations, we learn that Father Damien is banging the wife of one of the former gang members he has been mentoring. We also learn that Cruz who is supposed to be the bad apple is actually taking college courses to get a degree in accounting. When it's discovered that Benny borrowed their mother's car which is why she ended up using a rideshare, Benny admits that he borrowed 500 grand from a loan shark. Angela and Nyla go to the loan shark and they arrest his bodyguard for assault and elder abuse.
Tumblr media
Back at the hospital, Grey ends up getting admitted due to food poisoning. He and Tim end up sharing a room. Tim tells Grey about the surgery he is having and tells him not to say anything to Lucy because he doesn't want her to worry. Tim gets up to walk around and sees Rob. He confronts him and ends up getting thrown against the wall. Rob gets away while Tim is lying on the floor unable to move. Tim is taken to surgery and the bullet fragment is removed. Thankfully he isn't paralyzed. When Ashley comes to see him, she tells him that she's spent most of her life worrying about her dad. She tells him that she can't do that with him so she ends their relationship. Lucy arrives moments later and stays with Tim so that he doesn't have to be alone.
Nolan and Celina head down to the basement to search for Rob. Rob gets the drop on Celina and demands that she take him to one of the ambulances. Celina turns on her radio so that Nolan can hear their conversation. Rob and Celina climb into an empty ambulance and Celina sees that he is in a lot of pain from the gunshot wound. Celina convinces him to let her give him an injection which turns out to be morphine. Nolan finds them both and is surprised when he finds Rob passed out in the back of the ambulance.
Tumblr media
We end the episode with a pretty touching scene. Angela and Wesley have dinner with her mother and her three brothers. Wesley sings Angela's praises which prompts her mother, Emilia, to get up and tell her that she regrets not giving her as much attention as she did her brothers. She tells Angela that she's always been self-sufficient and that she has always taken care of her brothers. She tells Angela she loves her and by the look on Angela's face, this is clearly something she's been waiting her whole life to hear. Angela, for the most part, is always depicted as a bad-ass, but it's refreshing that the show acknowledges that tough people can't be tough all the time. Hopefully her brothers will start being there for her in the way she's there for them.
Tumblr media
What a great episode! Every part of this episode was entertaining. I hate that Tim got dumped while lying in a hospital bed but I believe it's for the best. His heart is clearly taken by someone else that isn't Ashley and him being single gives him a chance to explore that option without feeling guilty. Now all we need is for Lucy to kick her man to the curb and then maybe we can get back to some Chenford on this show. Oh, I totally forgot that Bailey proposed to Nolan at the end of the episode. The romance between these two characters is the one I'm least invested in. While Bailey is growing on me as a character, I still don't particularly care for them as a pairing. The scenes involving Angela and her brothers were my favorite of the episode. I hope we get to see more of them, especially the hottie priest who apparently has no qualms about breaking those priestly vows. As I've mentioned before, season 5 of this show is proving to be one of my favorites thus far. I hope that sentiment continues. Until next time ...
