Prussian and German fortifications on the Baltic coast
The Museum of Central Pomerania in Słupsk invites you to a meeting from the series "Uniformed services, history and technology". The lecture titled "Prussian and German fortifications on the Baltic coast" will be delivered and conducted by Mariusz Wojciechowski.
As Mariusz Wojciechowski writes, "the lecture will be devoted mainly to the 19th-century Prussian and German fortifications located on the Baltic coast, built before the outbreak of World War I. Military architecture from this period was mostly based on urban fortifications: Stralsund, Szczecin, Kołobrzeg, Gdańsk and Królewiec. Fortifications were extensively expanded starting in the 18th century (e.g. in Szczecin), and in the 19th century they were transformed into fortresses that came under the supervision of the state military services. At the same time, in the 19th century, new fortifications were built, not related to urban organisms, but to ports (e.g. Świnoujście, Piława and Klaipeda). The lecture will be richly illustrated.

The 1st Export in Bypass of the Russian Blockade
On June 13, the first ship of 18.000 corn arrived in Spain by a new route across the Baltic Sea.
Due to the blockade of Ukrainian ports by the Russian Navy, more than 90 million tons of grain remained blocked in Ukraine. Gradually, world hunger began to approach. To avoid the food crisis, it was decided to export food for humans and animals through Poland, Romania, and Latvia.
On June 13, the 1st ship entered the port of Spain, delivering 18.000 tons from Ukraine to Spain via a port in Poland. The Finnish cargo ship Alppila, bypassing the Russian blockade, pioneered еру new route: corn was exported by truck from western Ukraine to Poland and then loaded onto a ship at the Baltic port of Świnoujście
"This is the 1st batch of Ukrainian grain to reach northwestern Spain by sea, using the new sea route opened in the Baltic sea to avoid a Russian naval blockade of Ukraine's Black sea ports since the start of the war," the grain recipient, company Agafac.
Bruno Bida, chairman of Agafac, said that the total amount of corn he needed for the plant was 1 million. 40% of this million is a product from Ukraine.
"It's only a small amount of corn, but it restores the ability to import everything possible from Ukraine," said Bruno Bida.
The event is significant as this logistical supply will be the basis for further food supplies from Ukraine to the world. According to CNN, the unloading of Alppila will occur tomorrow, June 14.

Kuter rakietowy „Gdynia” (Missile Boat „Gdynia”), Series: Polish Ships, Poland, 2013, 2 Złote, Nordic gold, Mintage: 800.000, 8.15 g, 27 mm
ORP Gdynia (named after Polish Baltic port in Gdynia city), hull number 423, was the third Polish ship with this name. She was one of the Soviet Project 205 missile boats (NATO reporting name “Osa I”). The Project 205 boats were initially classified as small missile cutters. For a long time, all information about them was classified. At first, a different system of hull numbers was used and the numbers often changed.
ORP Gdynia was built in the Rybinsk Shipyard. On 7 September 1965, she entered service in the 3rd Torpedo Boat Division of the 3rd Torpedo Boat Brigade in Gdynia. From 1971 until decommissioning from the Navy, she belonged to the 2nd Missile Torpedo Boat Squadron of the 3rd Flotilla of Ships in Gdynia. In November 1989, she was reclassified into a patrol boat with hull number 301, retaining her former name, and in June 1991 she was transferred to the Maritime Regional Unit of Border Guard as one of three boats of this type.
In the same year, she was refurbished, with her main weapons removed and replaced with a 25-mm 2M-3M twin naval gun. Registered subsequently as „SG-301”, the boat was in service until 1 March 1995, first in the Pomorski Vessel Squadron of the Maritime Regional Unit of Border Guard in Świnoujście and then in the Kaszubski Vessel Squadron in Gdańsk.
