there's 2 fun facts you can infer about AITSF and AINI that isn't spoken about in game if you know enough about japan (MAJOR SPOILERS FOR AITSF)
1. mayumi started her diner likely in the 1980's, before an economic crash happened
when you first meet her (iirc), one of the things she says about her diner is that it was opened 30 years ago, and quote,
this line seems weird if you know nothing about it, but there was a major economic crash in the 1990s that still has lingering effects to this day.
in short, the banks were so over leveraged into the stratosphere that loan interests were crazy low, and everyone was wealthy and partying until the bubble popped. when it did, it was catastrophic, resulting in the 1990s being known as 'the lost decade'. new graduates couldnt find jobs and people struggled a lot. corporations suddenly stopped hiring fresh graduates. the perception of the 'safe salaryman life' began to see its death in this decade, it was painful.
anyway, mayumi pulling through this era really does mean the diner was doing GOOD. like, CRAZY GOOD.
spoilers: and this also means date was likely part of the lost decade. born 1977, it would've been 1995 when he reached 18. he would've graduated into a landscape of poor job opportunities, so being a civil servant (a cop) would've been a safe choice aside from his own possible motivations at the time.
speaking of.
2. date's car is stupid expensive. like, stupid, fucking, shouldn't-even-be-driven expensive. (potentially over 3k usd every 2 years minimum*)
so. in japan, cars are allowed to be on the road after passing an inspection. 車検 shaken, as it is commonly called, occurs every 2 to 3 years depending on the type of car it is. since the Ford Falcon is a common car, it would have to be inspected every 2 years.
all this system is in place to ensure the integrity of the car. in another way, shaken incentivizes people to renew their old cars for newer, more efficient models. the avg lifespan of a car in japan seems to be 12 years, and also, most people living in tokyo actually don't own a personal vehicle.
now, due to how shaken works, it would cost between ¥100,000 (US$747 rn) and ¥200,000 (US$1495) to renew... for newer cars. for older cars, it's more. plus, each time a car inspection fails, it'll cost even more time and money to get that shaken approved.
i've found someone claiming that driving a 1992 Porsche 911 964 RS meant paying ¥400,000 (US$2990 rn). (link) (EDIT: this was written in 2014)
now, best case scenario for Date's car being a '89, his shaken would cost maybe slightly more than ¥400,000 (US$ 2990 at time of writing) every 2 years. also again, this does not take into effect whether his car would actually fail inspection and require a fix or replacement to its parts, leading to even more costs. so yeah, potentially far more than ¥400,000.
but! one thing about his car is that it seems to be modified, seeing as how a certain someone's (plural) vehicle in AINI is also modified. it's probably safe to assume that there's some degree of tinkering going on under ABIS'/MPD rules bending.
so, this means date's vehicle is either bleeding him dry, or is being paid with taxpayer's money, or shaken isn't a thing in uchikoshi's mind. i'd like to believe in the former, because this means date has
been blowing ¥400,000 every 2 years on his stupid fucking car
been blowing ¥¥¥ on cabaret club
blew ¥1,000,000 (US$7,473 rn) on his stupid fucking audio system
his mountain of porno mags???
feel free to draw your own conclusions about the economy of AITSF, the pay of ABIS agents, and his residence:

Boxing Day Boxers: Part 7 – Porsche Panamericana, 1989. A concept designed by Harm Lagaay and Steve Murkett that previewed some design features that would be on the upcoming 993 generation 911. It was built on the chassis of a 964 series 911 Carrera 4 cabriolet using that car's 3.6 litre flat-6 engine. The wide wheel covers were designed to allow space various sizes of rims and tires, so if necessary it could be transformed into an off-road car. The car was presented at the Frankfurt Motor Show and was built as an 80th birthday gift for Ferry Porsche

Interesting info of Five Midnights at Wangan part 1 (srry for the delay, I forgot it). Divided by characters
●Shadow Bonnie:
-Came from a rich familly, they were studying medicine
-They fear going flat out on the Haneda line right before Haneda tunnel since the accident
-When going with Shadow Freddy, they dont go faster than 220kmh (just on wangan, on the rest of the highway they go around 150kmh), but going alone they go faster
-Asks their boss (their boss, the director of the surgery department they work in, drives a certain famous Black Porsche 964 turbo🙄)for some racing advice
-Their favourite car is the GTR (they still keep the R31 at the garage, right next to the R33)
-Serious except when their boyfriend is there, then they are very soft with him
-They know more less what happens inside of each car, traffic or rivals (Something like being omnipresent or omnipotent, you know, the power of the script) They are also the narrator of the story, that is told directly to the expectator (4th wall goes fium away)
●Shadow Freddy:
-Doesnt remember anything from before waking up in the hospital
-Before the accident, he wasnt the best driver. Neither they were bad, just the average
-A Toyota fan in the past
-He was in the 1st year of Biochemistry degree, but never got to end the degree
-After the coma, in the time the story of Five Midnights at Wangan happens (2024), he's a much better driver than before, getting to the level of the best ones (like his boyfriend)
-Doesnt keep any car from the past
-Sometimes he remembers the accident, but as a blured image, so he isnt sure if it was driving or not
-His supra was a left hand drive version because a missunderstanding when buying it

Kalmar 7-97 E-Volt 964 Restomod EV

MOMO and Numeric Racing - Perfect Combo Installed in our Porsche 964
Another round of mods for our Project Porsche 964 has been completed with two names synonymous with Porsche cars, MOMO and Numeric Racing. Although the car came with a rare “Special Wishes” (pre-dates Porsche Tequipment) steering wheel on it, it just wasn’t the right driving position and look I wanted for the car. Driving position is extremely important like in any activity. If you are not sitting in the right way, you can reduce the effectiveness you have on the job at hand. The job here is driving hard through mountain roads and long distance road rallies. With the new Recaro seats we just put in, along with me being about 5’9″ tall, I like to sit a little further back so my legs have a slight bend in the knee. However with the current steering wheel setup this requires me to reach nearly straight arm to the stock steering wheel position. Adding the MOMO steering wheel in combination with the MOMO hub designed for the Porsche, and a NRG quick release, pushes the steering wheel back to a more ergonomic position so there is a good 45 degree bend in my arms. This helps reduce fatigue and give you the control with your hands on either side of the steering wheel you need.
When the car was purchased, it already had a short shift kit installed in it. Because it is a Carrera 4, better short shift kits are limited compared to the Carrera 2 models. The car shifts amazing already being it has the G50 5 speed transmission, but the shifter is a reach down to go between the gears. Looking to increase the height of the shifter without changing the through, I went with the Numeric Racing shifter extension and weighted shift knob. The shift knob is made of Delrin so it doesn’t get super hot like aluminum or metal knobs do. The shift pattern finished in red is a great touch to the other accents on the vehicle. But this shift extension is what really helps with keep the overall improvement in ergonomics.

so since we discussed Miatas and Mazda not selling cars in India, my question is what are the other top cars you wish were sold in India? could be past or present :) or a car that other parts of the world are missing out on lol
Mm, there's soo many haha:
There's the Suzuki Cappuccino first off -
Look at this lovely, lovely thing. You can make miatas weight conscious with it! Only 750 kilos. And utterly cheap. I'm honestly wondering if I should aim to get one even though it is RHD only and I live in an LHD nation now. It's ideal for the narrow streets! Imagine this with the Connaught V10. F1-level stuff.
There's the Porsche 964 -
In a world where I get rich quick for some reason, this is my dream car. It is the perfect vehicle for a person/couple honestly. No second car needed. Space for goods? Check. Comfort and style? Check. More performance than you'll ever need? Check!
And the modern Porsche 964, the Alpine A110 -
Maybe a little lacking in luggage space, but still the ideal car to drive! And so, so, pretty. The most pretty car in the modern era I think. Funny part is these are available in Max land - all I need are 50k euros! Not very tough to get, right? RIGHT?

New Post has been published on https://www.vividracing.com/blog/upgrading-our-project-porsche-964-interior-part-1-video/
Upgrading our Project Porsche 964 Interior - Part 1 Video
Our project Porsche 964 is definitely a head turner since we scooped it up back in April. The car came to us ready to hit the track and run some Touge roads in Japan. It was done very outlaw style with the center console removed, a custom aluminum shifter surround, and the accessory/diff switches moved to the radio din spot. Since there is no AC, the car had 2 fans plugged in and mounted to the transmission tunnel. I am sure nobody ever anticipated the car coming to Arizona! So to keep the car still a rally beast with creature comforts, we began adding some updates to the interior.
One of the main things we wanted to add was a radio so we could listen to music and not just the carbuerated 3.6L engine. To do this we needed to move the switches from the radio din back down to the center console. We picked up a beautiful used console from Mike at Autobahnparts.com which included the carpet piece. From here we could add in the Rennline carbon fiber parts to dress up the center console. With the radio din now empty, we could add a single din radio with bluetooth back in place. Its amazing how cheap these radios are with pricing from $40 to $200 online. For those that can remember back to the late 90s and early 2000s, that is cheap! With the radio in place we need to hear the sound so we reinstalled some Rockford Fosgate 6.5″ speakers in the door panels and some 6×9 in some inexpensive speaker boxes.
In combination with our Recaro Podium seats, the interior is coming together nicely but we have more to do! Keep tuned in to our YouTube channel for updates and let us know your thoughts on this round of mods.
