Der neue GT3 RS ist ein Rennwagen mit Straßenzulassung. Er ist gemacht für Kurven und hat den größten Heckspoiler aller Zeiten. Carbonkäfig, Carbondach, alles aerodynamisch, alles Leichtbau, alles auf Performance! Das extreme Highlight: der Heckflügel, welcher sich wie bei der Formel1 per Knopfdruck verstellen lässt. Zudem hält dieser ein Gewicht von bis zu 600kg aus. Zudem verfügt der GT3 RS über zwei verstellbare Flügel in der Front, welche Fahrluft in den Radkasten lenken. Das führt dazu, dass der Anpressdruck das Auto mit bis zu 860kg auf den Asphalt drückt (ca. 4x so stark wie beim 911 Turbo S). Ein weiteres Special ist die Fronthaube des Stuttgarters; dieser drückt die heiße Luft welche von unten auf die Haube knallt zur Seite hin und lässt diese abkühlen. Ergebnis: Das Auto ermöglicht so noch schneller zu fahren. 
Fazit: Trotz fehlendem Kofferraum ist der GT3 RS wohl der aufregendste Porsche aller Zeiten und bricht nicht ohne Grund jegliche Streckenrekorde.

The start of our relationship with Supercar Driver, exploring the iconic 997.2 GT3 RS 4.0.
The 4.0 is considered by many to be the pinnacle of 997 ownership, with only 600 units produced. It is also the manual 911 RS that Porsche have produced making it even more collectable. The engine was upgraded and the body aerodynamically tweaked, with the angle of the rear wing increased and mini vertical dive planes on either side of the front nose. It was also the last Mezger engine that Porsche ever produced.

Porsche brand ambassador Jörg Bergmeister, who was heavily involved in the vehicle’s development, piloted the new 992 911 GT3 RS around the nearly 13 mile stretch of the ‘Ring in a rapidly quick time of just 6:49:328 minutes, witnessed by a track official. Andreas Preuninger, Porsche’s director of its GT car program, said the RS faced some tough challenges setting its time, including a “strong headwind on the long straight of the Döttinger Höhe and cool asphalt temperatures.”
“We lost a little downforce due to the strong, sometimes gusting wind, but I’m still very happy with the lap,” says Bergmeister. “In the fast sections in particular, the 911 GT3 RS is in a league of its own. Here it’s on a level usually reserved for top-class racing cars. The car is also setting new standards in braking. Fast laps on the Nordschleife are simply so much fun in this car.”
The new lap time places the GT3 RS 10.6 seconds faster than the 911 GT3 it’s built from. It’s about one second behind the (turbocharged) Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series, and just ahead of the Lamborghini Aventador SVJ—and quite a bit ahead of the 918 Spyder. Adapting a lot of equipment from Porsche’s motorsports background, the GT3 RS that lapped the ‘Ring features the optional Weissach package including Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R 275/35 R20 front and 335/30 R21 rear tires, lightweight magnesium wheels, and the tallest swan neck wing ever mounted on the back of a 911.
It’s powered by the GT3’s 4.0-liter flat-six naturally-aspirated engine with new camshafts, and power rises from 502 horsepower on the GT3 up to 518 hp on the GT3 RS. It’s linked to a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission with a shorter final-drive ratio, and weight sits at 3,268 pounds. Porsche says the GT3 RS cranks up to a total downforce of almost 1,900 pounds at just over 180 mph, which is three times as much as the standard GT3.

Inside Look at “Spirit of Carrera RS” Special Exhibition
The Porsche 911 Carrera RS 2.7 is an undisputed icon of automotive history, unique and unforgettable. Fifty years after its world premiere, the Porsche Museum is honouring it with a special exhibition, “Spirit of Carrera RS”. Starting on 20 September 2022, the Porscheplatz in Zuffenhausen will be all about the “ducktail”, “RS” or “2.7”, as the sports car is known among Porsche enthusiasts.
When the RS was unveiled at the Paris Motor Show on 5 October 1972, it was the first series-production car in the world with front and rear spoilers. The requirements for the 911 base vehicle for racing and rallying were clearly defined: light and fast were the watchwords. To achieve the objectives, Hans Mezger and Valentin Schäffer developed the 2.7-litre six-cylinder boxer engine with direct fuel injection from the ground up new. In the Sport version, the 210-PS, 960-kg Coupé went from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.8 seconds and topped out at almost 245 km/h. The precise aerodynamics designed back then with racing cars in mind still make the RS unique today. 
The Porsche Museum tells the story of the RS and its racing cousin, the RSR, not only through the cars and anecdotes, but also with films, photos, racing posters and interactive features. Visitors can, for example, put together their own custom RS by turning the model-detail and colour wheel of the kaleidoscope. To fulfil as many personal wishes as possible, Porsche held fast to the customisation principle with the Carrera RS 2.7. Buyers could choose from a wide array of colours and equipment options. The strong demand took the sports car manufacturer by surprise, which initially had planned a mere 500 series-produced cars for homologation. At the centre of the special exhibition is a bright yellow 911 Carrera RS 2.7 in Touring spec, as well as a rare prototype in green metallic. The vehicles, development documents, advertising brochures, price lists, the Carrera logo and an article from the customer magazine Christophorus describe the path from the development vehicle to the production-ready Porsche.
Visitors can also look forward to seeing other extraordinary cars from the family lineage of the ducktail spanning five decades of Porsche history. With the duo of the 911 (964) RS and 911 (993) RS, Porsche expanded the RS family to include air-cooled sports cars. The water-cooled era is represented by the 911 (996) GT3 RS, 911 (997) GT3 RS, 911 (991) GT3 RS and 911 (992) Sport Classic models, the last of which is a collector’s edition from the Heritage Design Series from Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur and features a fixed rear spoiler. The car’s moniker from the realm of avian anatomy was inspired by the shape of the rear spoiler. At high speeds, the ducktail presses the 911 to the ground and thus reduces lift to achieve the ideal balance and enable higher top speeds. With the RS half a century ago, the sports car manufacturer achieved the perfect synthesis between weight, power, aerodynamics and driving dynamics. Light, fast, race-ready and road-approved.

The new Porsche 911 GT3 RS makes no secret of its intentions: it is uncompromisingly designed for maximum performance.The basis for a significant performance boost is the concept of a central radiator – an idea that was first used in the Le Mans class-winning 911 RSR and subsequently in the 911 GT3 R. Instead of the three-radiator layout seen in previous cars, the new 911 GT3 RS relies on a large, angled centre radiator in the car’s nose, positioned where the luggage compartment is located on other 911 models. This has made it possible to use the space freed up on the sides to integrate active aerodynamic elements.Continuously adjustable wing elements in the front and on the two-part rear wing, in combination with a number of other aerodynamic measures, provide 409 kg of total downforce at 200 km/h. This means that the new 911 GT3 RS generates twice as much downforce as its 991.2-generation predecessor and three times as much as a current 911 GT3. At 285 km/h, total downforce is 860 kg.
A drag reduction system (DRS) is fitted in a production Porsche for the first time. To achieve low drag and higher speeds on straight sections of the track, the DRS allows the wings to be flattened out at the push of a button, within a specific operating range. The airbrake function is activated during emergency braking at high speeds: the wing elements at the front and rear are set to maximum, creating an aerodynamic deceleration effect that significantly supports the wheel brakes.
The look of the new 911 GT3 RS is characterised by the large number of functional aerodynamic elements. The most prominent feature of the GT sports car is the swan-neck-supported rear wing, which is significantly larger in all dimensions. The rear wing consists of a fixed main wing and an upper, hydraulically adjustable wing element.
For the first time on a Porsche production vehicle, the upper edge of the rear wing is higher than the car’s roof. In addition, the front end of the 911 GT3 RS no longer has a front spoiler, but instead features a front splitter that divides the air flowing over and underneath. Sideblades accurately direct air outwards. Front wheel arch ventilation is provided via louvred openings in the front wings.
The 4.0-litre high-revving naturally aspirated engine has been further optimised compared with the 911 GT3. The increase in power to 386 kW (525 PS) is achieved primarily via new camshafts with modified cam profiles. The single-throttle intake system and the rigid valve drive are derived from motorsport. The seven-speed Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK) has a shorter overall gear ratio than the 911 GT3. Air intakes on the underbody ensure that the transmission can withstand even extreme loads during frequent use on track. The 911 GT3 RS accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in 3.2 seconds and reaches a top speed of 296 km/h in seventh gear. Aluminium monobloc fixed-calliper brakes with six pistons each and brake discs with a diameter of 408 mm are used on the front axle. Compared with the 911 GT3, the piston diameters have been increased from 30 to 32 mm. In addition, the thickness of the discs has been increased from 34 to 36 mm. The rear axle continues to be fitted with 380-mm brake discs and four-piston fixed-calliper brakes.
The optionally available Porsche Ceramic Composite Brake (PCCB) has 410-mm discs on the front axle and 390-mm discs on the rear axle. The new 911 GT3 RS comes standard with forged light-alloy centre-lock wheels. Road-legal sports tyres measuring 275/35 R 20 at the front and 335/30 R21 at the rear ensure a high level of mechanical grip.
