Wax Flower or Hoya is either fragrant or produces heaps of nectar (Hoya carnosa) native to Eastern Asia and Australia. Our inside hydroponic hoya has flowers that are covered with sweet nectar this week without the strong perfume. They usually flower from the end of the same spike but can also make new shoots and flower spikes. Really easy to propagate, layering or cuttings. These plants are not mine. I can't keep a plant alive to save my life. Literally if I was dependent on plants I grow myself, I'd be long gone. Also I can't have any houseplants because I live with two monsters who love eating plants. No plant has ever survived in my house. These houseplants are my moms. Hoya Carnosa, also known as the porcelainflower or wax plant, is a common house plant with thick flower corollas that look as if made from porcelaine or from wax, leading to the plant's common names. The surface of the flowers is covered in tiny hairs giving them a fuzzy sheen. They are heavily scented and may produce excess nectar that drips from the flowers.

Happy Earth Day everyone! Here's a recent Etsy listing to remind us all there is beauty in that which has been thrown away and a lot of discarded objects can be reframed into something new and relevant if we take a moment to think about it. If we treat found objects with reverence and consider their history, they can be considered even more valuable than something created brand new yesterday. And there are so many pre-loved and junk treasures to be found, the process is reasonably sustainable. These earrings were made using an old vintage tin and 1950's/1960's clip on earrings that were chipped and broken. I've managed to rebuild the hand painted porcelain in places and the bunch of roses, pansies and leaves sit in a small cavity in the vintage tin. They're nicely secured in there and the backs have been decoupaged with decorative papers. Available in my Etsy shop.
