I finished the coloring and shading. And I added rumpel’s clouds but since it covered up some of the design (mainly top of the hair) I also have one without but kept the sparkles and some of the cloud outlines since it made a splotchy background and I thought it looked neat.

ANYWAY-

I had way too much fun doing this.

im pretty late on this holiday comic, but I'm happy with it nonetheless! at this point I think I've been (re)interested in Poptropica for about a year now!! a whole 2024 of this game becoming one of my biggest fixations by far. I've said it before, but I truly wish I could've reignited this flame earlier. at a time where I didn't have to watch it slowly "die" right when I've returned to it. but I can't do anything about that. all I can do is look forward. head into the new year with this same spark!! and that's exactly what I plan to do.

thank you for all the love shown on my Poptropica art. this is a small but passionate fandom that I seriously admire. I hope I get to continue throwing support at you all in 2025!! ❤️❤️❤️ (you don't have a choice actually. you Will get my support 😇)

Gonna go ahead and share my current progress on this. Since Dr. Rumpel Bunskin exists, I wanted to try doing something similar with Black Widow.

So… I decided to draw it. I’m liking the progress!

I am unsure if people remember my pink Rumpel design but I recently did a fun redesign of him adding even more things from his concept art and some personal HCs. Not replacing the old one this is just the one for my main AU :3

Something tells me that the current Poptropica creators knew Rumpelestiltskin was the only good part of FTI, which is why they tried to milk his popularity.

There's nothing wrong with a character being used for marketing. As long as they have an actual character, and a good story to back it up.

I don't mind characters like Oliver being used for marketing (although I wish Mya and Jorge got the same amount, lol) because he has an actual character, and an actual good story to back it up.

Rumpel's character is entertaining, and he is an intimidating villain, he's got a good design. They just didn't do much with him in the actual island, most likely because the island itself was barely an island. Other villains at least have a more impactful story.

And then the weird extended FTI plot on Home Island didn't help... mostly because it didn't go anywhere, so it felt like a waste of time. They could've used the time and energy they put into that to make actual islands...

What I'm trying to say is that Rumpelstiltskin is a good enough character, but he doesn't have a good story to justify his oversaturation.

I find it kind of interesting that since it's been a couple of years since this all went down, we're able to look at it in a different light. I guess the whole year-long hiatus, Shutdown Hoax, Poptropica moving to Coolmath Games and refusing to update made us more critical of modern Poptropica 🤔
