I’d probably say this because it was a fic I was so nervous about, and to hear someone say it was good that had been through that meant the world to me.“Thank you so, so much for this. I’ve wanted to read a seizure fic for a long time and this one was absolutely perfect. I don’t have epilepsy but I have another conditions which means I have seizures, and which started around the same age as Louis is in this fic when his start. I’m in a flare at the moment and have had so many seizures this week and felt so angry about it all. After my last big flare up last year, my boyfriend broke up with me because I was too disabled. Reading this was such a healing and cathartic experience for me and I sobbed my way through the epilogue. I also love how you wrote harry’s addiction story and how you included his AA meetings - its so important to show the reality of that daily battle. Thank you for such a beautiful story x“

Some of the writers do prefer email, so typically a writer will ask me for a specific person’s email address and I’ll send it to them and also email the writer to give them a heads up that they should expect a message. That way I can keep track of who’s already been asked to beta and/or Brit pick and who hasn’t.

Hey :) I wanted to ask you a question if its alright, how do you deal with being contradicted all the damn time if you try to make people understand a 'vegan fact'? I'm not militant that much but each time I try to raise my voice it always end up in a mess and sometimes it can even trigger my mental health so I end up just being a silent vegan ... :(

I feel this so much my dude, I’m the same. I think I’ve got better at it now but it’s still really exhausting being around people who just find veganism hilarious. I'll recommend a few things:

As soon as the conversation turns to veganism you need to take a deep breath and be calm

Most of the time the conversation will be brought up when you’re eating food. This is not a good time to be talking about veganism. Politely say “I don’t really want to talk about this right now but if you really want to find out about this stuff we can always talk later”

If they’re being nice or genuinely inquisitive, smile. Give off positive body language.

Don’t make it seem like you’re trying to convert them. If they’re clearly getting argumentative/defensive, move the conversation on asap. I know it’s frustrating when you feel like you’ve given them the last word, but it’s better than them making a scene

Prepare yourself. Think of a few good responses for hypothetical questions you might be asked (both the stupid and the genuine). Have a peek at this site here and grab a couple statistics to remember if you think it’ll help

Deep breath. Be calm. Release any tension in your body.

Think of a couple of your favourite vegan brands (particularly any realistic and/or cheap fake cheese and meat brands) so that you can suggest them if someone says vegan alternatives are unrealistic or expensive

Try and keep the conversation light-hearted and positive

If you think it’s appropriate, suggest reading material or documentaries or websites that they can look into for more information

Just tell them if you feel uncomfortable. It’s okay - veganism is an intense, sometimes upsetting, subject.

Don’t talk so quickly. Slow down. Breathe. Release tension.

Don’t! let! religion! into! the! conversation!

All else fails and they’re all laughing at you? Stay quiet. Sit back and cross your arms. Let them get it out of their system. When they want to be serious and ask a genuine question they can, but don’t let them walk all over you.

Did they ask a question you don’t know the answer to right now? That’s fine. Don’t panic. Smile and say “ha, that’s actually a good question! d’you mind if I do a quick google and find some proper statistics for it to give you a proper answer?”

Literally cannot stress this enough: Deep breath. Release tension. Slow down. Be calm. Don’t get angry.

At the end of the day, it’s okay to be a silent vegan if your mental health is taking a blow! It’s okay to be a silent vegan if it keeps you safe!

As for the mental health thing, I understand how hard it can be feeling like you aren’t doing enough. But, trust me, you are - you’re doing way more than most people. Keep reminding yourself what a great thing it is you’re doing for the planet and the animals. Go to this site here and make yourself feel a little better! xx

This is all really long now and it’s hella general/vague stuff idk if any of it’s helpful at all but it’s what I try to remember if I get into situations where I’m being teased. Best of luck!! 😘

The first day of our art display. I’m dressed in a tailored black suit, holding a tray, May sun shines brightly, birds singing on the big trees, we all are proud, the governor cutting the red ribbon, flashes are bright and the students are cheering us, my oh-so-crush smiling brightly near me, and I am thinking, maybe, maybe… This is the best moment of my life, because out of all the moments, I am proud. Of myself.

MY OWN CLASSROOM! Haha, it took me a while to think about the answer to this question, lol. But I want to have my own classroom. In a public school, bc technically, I had my own room at the daycare where I worked this year. 

But, I finally quit my jobs at the end of August, and started substitute teaching. And since Dec. 1, I’ve been longterm subbing in a school, and I have my own room. But it’s not like, mine, because the teacher is coming back in September. So, in 2018, I want my own, official room with my name on the door and my name on all of the class lists and the ability to change everything in it that I want because it’s like, actually mine.
